Je viens de me faire refouler a la frontiere syrienne. J'avais pourtant (je crois !) pris toutes les dispositions necessaires pour pouvoir entrer en Syrie sans probleme, a savoir :
- obtention du visa syrien dans mon pays
- passeport valable jusqu'en 2018
- pas de tampon israelien
etc.
Mon seul tort, c'est mon tampon de sortie egyptien sur lequel il est ecrit "TABA". Je leur ai dit que j'avais pris le bateau Taba - Aqaba (je crois qu'il existent, mais c'est bien entendu faux... je suis bien passe par Israel - 20 minutes - car j'avais loupe mon bateau a Nuweiba suite a une panne de bus), mais ils ont rien voulu savoir...
Bref, avec un visa syrien et sans "stamp" israelien, je pensais pouvoir entrer en Syrie sans probleme, mais que nenni... donc attention a ceux qui comptent faire le meme itineraire que moi via Taba - Eilat - Aqaba.
Mais bon, je trouve quand meme qu'ils ont un peu exagere sur ce coup...
Enfin bon... le temps que je souhaitais passer en Syrie, je le passerai (vraiment !) en Israel... tant pis pour eux !
Tu dis que tu comptais faire Taba-Eilat-Aquaba, donc tu savais que tu allais passer par Israël mais tu t'imaginais être plus malin qu'un policier syrien ?
J'espère que tu as mieux préparé la suite de ton périple sinon tu vas faire du surplace🙂

Oui enfin bon, etant donne que la population syrienne est composee a 80% de policiers, j'espere quand meme etre plus malin que la moyenne... (c'est de l'humour... je precise, on sait jamais).
En fait, initialement, je voulais traverser la frontiere en ferry a Nuweiba... sans passer par Israel. Mais mon bus Dahab - Nuweiba a eu une panne et je n'ai eu d'autre choix que de foncer sur Aqaba par voie de terre pour pouvoir etre en Jordanie le meme jour.
Mais a la frontiere israelienne, j'ai bien specifie 'no stamp'... A la frontiere syrienne, on m'a refoule a cause de mon visa egyptien, qui mentionnait la ville frontiere de Taba... qui est comme Nuweiba relie par ferry a Aqaba. Enfin bref, aucune trace isralienne dans mon passeport, si ce n'est Taba comme ville de sortie egyptienne.
La suite de mon periple est simple : Jordanie et Israel (dont je reserve cette fois la plus belle page de mon passeport a leur visa)... puis cap sur l'Inde. Donc plus de probleme avec mon passage a Taba (sans jeu de mot).

tu avais fait ta demande de visa syrien en france, et dans le formulaire qu'on te donne à remplir, on te pose, si je ne m'abuse, cette question fort explicite : "avez-vous visité la palestine occupée ?". la question peut paraître vaguement innocente mais quelqu'un de suffisamment bien informé ne va bien évidemment pas répondre oui. je pense dès lors qu'il faut éviter de jouer au con (pardonne-moi l'expression) avec eux sur ce terrain-là.
quels que soient les problèmes que tu as pu rencontrer (et qui ont justifié que tu sois contraint de passer par israël avant la syrie), ton tampon de sortie du territoire égyptien ne peut qu'attirer leur attention, sachant qu'il n'y a pas non plus 10 000 solutions.

Je vous signale en passant que les visas de Sharm et Check étaient aussi normalement dans la liste de ce qui interdit un passage en Syrie. J'ignore par contre si c'est toujours le cas.
je ne sais pas où se font les formalités de police, je compte me renseigner une fois arrivée à Dahab auprès de l'agence bédouina qui organise des excursions pour la Jordanie en empruntant précisément les vedettes Taba Aqaba et non pas le ferry, j'espère qu'ils me trouveront une place juste pour le passage... pour l'instant je n'en sais pas plus 🤪 j'ai du temps devant moi

mais je pense maintenant que votre info selon laquelle c'est réservé à des "tourists packages" est la bonne, (je suis allée sur la page que vous avez indiquée); toutefois, comme je connais depuis 13 ans l'équipe de l'agence bédouina, je pense qu'ils pourraient m'arranger quelquechose, je leur ai d'ailleurs déjà parlé de mon projet d'aller jusqu'au Liban via Jordanie et Syrie et ils m'y ont encouragée, si ça n'est pas possible, eh bien, je prendrai le fameux ferry en m'armant de patience!

Vous etes tombé dans un piège un peu bateau. Tout guide de voyage explique bien que lorsque vous voulez n'avoir aucune trace de votre passage en Israël, il faut demander aux officiers israéliens ET égyptiens (ou Jordaniens) de ne pas tamponner votre passeport.
Un tampon de Taba indique a coup sur que vous etes passé par Israël. Le poste-frontière de Taba ne dessert que la frontière terrestre avec Israël et rien d’autre. Ce n'est pas le même tampon si vous arrivez en ferry depuis Nuweiba.
J'ai le Routard et le Lonely, et je m'etais renseigne auparavant sur divers forums, et a chaque fois on parle des officiers israeliens, mais jamais des jordaniens ou egyptiens... En tout cas, c'est pas comme ca que je l'ai compris. On parle toujours de la fameuse feuille pour Israel, jamais du reste.
En attendant, je suis reste plus de 3h au poste frontiere... d'autres personnes se sont faites refouler sans menagement... Mais mon cas a semble-t-il suscite quelques interrogations et verifications. Une bonne moitie des moustachus presents etait pour me laisser passer... mais ils ont finalement voulu attendre leur chef et c'est lui qui a finalement decider de me virer. Et me voyant revenir, les Jordaniens ont telephone a leurs collegues syriens parce que meme eux n'ont pas compris.
Alors ok, je me suis fait pieger, mais il semble que mon cas soit plutot rare...
Perso je m'en fous, je me trouve actuellement a Jerusalem et je compte profiter d'Israel le plus longtemps possible 🙂 mon message est plus informatif qu'autre chose. Je pense qu'il pourra etre utile a de nombreuses personnes.
je rentre de l'ambassade de Syrie où l'on m' a annoncé que ma demande de visa était refusée , 42 euros de perdus (+ les 2 voyages sur Paris), impossible d'avoir une explication au bureau de retrait des visas, pour en avoir une demander un RDV avec le responsable de cette décision!!! je pars dans qqs jours en Egypte, je n'ai pas le temps de programmer ce RDV, de mon point de vue c'est incompréhensible, la seule "explication" que j'ai pu avoir: "vous aussi (je ne suis pourtant pas l'ambassade de France) il vous arrive de refuser des visas" !!!!
on m'a renvoyée à l'accueil, qui m'a renvoyée au bureau des visas, qui m'a renvoyée à l'accueil, où finalement quelqu'un a arrêté une employée qui entrait en voiture, elle a pris mes coordonnées et m'a promis de m'appeler pour me transmettre une explication (la personne responsable n'était pas là)
pour info aussi, le délai actuel d'obtention est de 3 semaines et non plus 2 en raison de vacances consécutives au ramadan, une personne juste avant moi voulait déposer un dossier et obtenir son visa avant son départ le 1er octobre, il lui a été répondu qu'elle ne pourrait l'avoir en France que le 2 et on lui a affirmé qu'elle l'aurait sans problème à la frontière entre le Liban et la Syrie

ce que veut dire Némo, c'est qu'un pays n'est pas dans l'obligation LÉGALE de justifier un refus de visa. La France refuse généralement les visas des demandeurs africains sans aucune justification.
Par contre, s'ils le font, c'est tout à leur honneur et il sera intéressant de connaître la raison te concernant.

La principale raison de refuser à un Français le visa, c'est un tampon israélien ou d'un point de passage vers Israel (Jordanie, Egypte, etc...)

simplement d'assez nombreux visas égyptiens ;
quelquechose me revient maintenant à l'esprit... Michel Tatra écrit un peu plus haut que des visas égyptiens obtenus à Sharm El Sheikh peuvent amener à un refus, or cela m'est arrivée d'emprunter des vols directs Paris/Sharm(ou Bruxelles/Taba), peut-être est-ce cela !!!!!!

Je comprends ton énervement, mais tu es bel et bien tombe dans un piège "bateau ». On n'a pas du lire les mêmes guides, Je me souviens parfaitement que le Lonely Planet et le Guide du Routard précisent qu'il faut évidemment demander que le passeport ne soit pas tamponne par les Israéliens ET par les Jordaniens/Egyptiens. Tu ne vas pas être content mais… c’est l’enfance de l’art. Tous les voyageurs un minimum informes dans la région le savent.
Que les douaniers jordaniens n'aient pas compris pourquoi tu étais renvoyé me laisse à penser qu'ils n'étaient pas bien malins, ou qu’ils compatissaient. Tous les gens bossant aux frontières syriennes sait que le tampon "Taba" signifie « j’ai été en Israël ».
l'employée de l'ambassade qui m'avait promis de me rappeler ne l'a pas fait, je verrai à mon retour...
j'ai vu des vols amman/beyrouth à 123 euros l'aller /retour, c'est une solution si je persiste dans mon projet de rejoindre le Liban.

je viens d'appeler l'ambassade de syrie, j'ai exposé qu'on m'avait promis une explication, la personne avec qui j'ai parlé m'a dit que c'était Damas qui décidait et qu' à Paris ils n'avaient pas connaissance de la raison du refus, en conséquence, ils ne pouvaient pas me renseigner!!!
j'ai essayé de joindre, sans succès, l'ambassade du Liban , je crois que je vais m'arrêter là car juste avant le départ c'est trop de stress !

Juste une information :
Il existe bien un bateau (speed boat) qui relie Taba à Aqaba. Il est en effet indiquer qu'il n'est ouvert qu'aux package mais personnellement je l'ai déjà pris en individuel : 30 minutes pour la traversée. Les formalités se font au port voir même sur le bateau en partant d'Aqaba.
Et non je ne suis pas d'accord : Taba ne signifie pas forcément frontière israélienne puisqu'il y a ce bateau. Et j'ai quand même lu sur un blog quelqu'un qui s'était fait refoulé à la frontière syrienne en ayant pris le bateau, donc sans passer en Israël. Il a eu beau expliquer son cas, les douaniers syriens n'ont rien voulu entendre ! Donc là ça devient un peu n'importe quoi. Personnellement, j'ai pris le bateau pour éviter un tampon israélien et maintenant j'ai toutes les chances de me faire refouler malgré tout en Syrie ! Chercher l'erreur !!!
Il est certain que si vous avez pris ce bateau réservé aux packages justement parce qu'il ne satisfait pas aux obligations légales en termes de formalités de police, vous risquez d'avoir des ennuis.

La Syrie a aussi dans le collimateur les visas égyptiens du Sinai, comme celui de Sharm, et donc peut-être votre visa Taba Marina... Je ne sais précisément.

Hello, ton cas m'interpelle. Je parts en Jordanie courant printemps 2010. Et, je souhaiterais passer 1/2 à Damas et Alep. Retour Jordanie et faire un saut en Israël.
Cependant, je possède la double nationalité : Algérienne et Belge. Pourrais-je y accéder sans difficultés ? Bien sûre tout en ignorant pas que le passage à la frontière Israëlité, Jordanie/Israël, d'après des ressources assez ardu.

I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

The information I’ve found about whether an international permit is required is contradictory. Some sources say you need one, others say you don’t.
Could anyone let me know if an international driver’s permit is necessary to rent a car in Australia (Perth), or if a French license is enough for a 7-day rental?
I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

There are rumors going around about the ETA: it must absolutely be on your smartphone in the "ETA" app.
Paper documents might not be accepted.

We need to apply for a B2 visa because we visited Iran in 2018. It currently costs $185, but they’re planning an additional $250 fee per person for the same visa—it’s been approved but not yet implemented. Does anyone know when this fee will take effect?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.
Has anyone here been in this situation recently?
Did the airline ask for an exit ticket before boarding?
Did Chinese authorities require proof upon arrival?
Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?
Is a cancelable or flexible reservation accepted?

Just a question that’s probably been asked before (though usually the other way around for my situation :))
My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
I read on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that it’s possible to apply for a temporary driving permit in China, valid for 1 month.
