J'ai 17 ans je suis en terminale ES et je souhaiterais partir 1 an aux Etats-unis avec le programme high school proposé par sts, c'est à dire 10 mois passés dans une famille américaine avec les cours dans un lycée américain.
Je souhaiterais connaître les experiences de ceux qui ont déjà realisé ce genre de séjour avec cet organisme et savoir si il n'est pas trop dur de commencer les études supérieures apres 1 an à l'étranger.

Si je peux te donner un conseil, évites cet organisme qui n'est qu'une pompe à fric apparemment et qui ne s'occupe plus de toi une fois que tu es aux Etats Unis. Mais ce n'est plus du tout ce qu'on t'a promis. Si tout va bien, tu devrais passer une bonne année. Mais si tu as un souci dans la famille ou à l'école, je sais que ma voisine n'a pas le droit de se plaindre à la personne qui lui a été désignée sinon elle doit rentrer en france et c'est elle qui devras payer. C'est une personne qui lui fait très peur car elle la menace. Elle a signé des tas d'avertissement et on ne veut plus entendre parler d'elle. Ses parents n'ont pas le droit d'intervenir. Ils ne savent plus quoi faire et sont tous désemparés. Il faut le savoir car il y a des organismes qui profitent car en plus ils ont payé très cher. Elle rencontre de gros soucis dans sa famille et on lui a dit qu'ils étaient bénévoles et qu'ils faisaient ce qu'ils peuvent. Donc aucune plainte ou remarque doit être faite. Donc fais très attention dans tes recherches.

ma fille elle est partie via le rotary club entre sa premiere et sa terminale
pour la repose à la question de la scolarite : aucun souci elle est actuellement en terminale et est 1ere de sa classe
tous ses amis qui ont fait le meme type d'echange n'ont aucun probleme
l'autre remarque sur les familles c'est vrai que c'est un peu la loterie (avec le rotary tu as plusieurs familles cela minimise les risques)
en cas de probleme tu es sensée avoir un "tuteur" (efficacité ??)
comme tu es mineur tes parents deleguent leur autorité à l'organisme ils sont reponsables de toi et donc "imposent" leurs regles ( exemple pas de sortie , pas d'alcool , pas de cigarette ... )

Le problème ne vient donc pas d'STS mais du partenaire Américain. Attention de ne pas tout mélanger ^^
Un séjour à l'étranger comporte toujours des risques, surtout lorsqu'on est amené à vivre en famille d'accueil (mauvaise entente avec la famille, cultures et caractères trop différents etc..)
Mon conseil : Regardes les prix, tout ce qui peut être compris dans les frais, les assurances etc.. plutôt que de se baser sur la réputation de tel ou telle association.
PS: il existe un forum français pour les jeunes qui font ce type de séjour en lycée à l'étranger. tu devrais y faire un tour.
Je suis OK avec toi en disant que STS n'est pas forcément tout à fait responsable. Mais ce qu'ils reprochent apparemment à STS c'est le manque d'information à ce sujet. Ils étaient persuadés que STS géraient égalment aux USA mais pas du tout. Ils n'ont eu affaire à eux que pour payer le voyage.Ensuite effectivement c'est un organisme américain qui a pris le relais et ils n'ont aucun contact avec eux. Et c'est ça qui les a surpris car cela n'avait pas été expliqué de cette façon. Ils étaient persuadés que STS suivait leur fille. Ce n'est pas du tout le cas. As-tu le lien du forum français ? Merci
Il s'agit d'un forum français par contre je suis désolée je ne connais pas l'adresse. Je suis tombée dessus une fois par hasard et je l'ai trouvé très bien.

Mais bon, après avoir bien réfléchit , vu le coup financier qu'un séjour comme celui-ci représente et que ça ferait une coupure trop importante entre le lycée et les études supérieures , je pense plutôt essayer de partir pendant mes études ou après comme garçon au pair .
C'est vrai que ça fait un investissement mais il t'est "remboursé" très largement quand tu reviens: tu as acquis une maturité que les autres n'ont pas et tu es bilingue, ce qui te donne déjà une avance immense comparé aux autres. Au lieu de ramer en prépa ou à la fac, etc, tu es tranquille, sûr de toi, et tu as de bonnes notes, ce qui t'ouvre des portes. De plus, tu as rencontré plein de gens pendant ton séjour ce qui te permet de voyager très facilement dans le monde, encore un atout sur ton CV. Au final, au lieu de faire partie des 40-60% de jeunes qui redoublement leur 1e année post-bac, avec tout le gâchis que ça implique et le trou sur le CV, tu te garantis un parcours de réussite cohérent et qui te distingue des autres.
Ceci dit, je recommande plutôt de passer par PIE qui sont la référence en la matière.

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
Currently an entrepreneur in real estate and transport, I’m looking for a partner / partners / foundation to collaborate on an agriculture project, as I own 10 hectares of land.
