je pars vendredi 9 août au Sénégal. Je ne me suis pas posée beaucoup de questions puisque j'y étais encore en avril mais maintenant il faut ce fameux visa. Dois-je absolument faire la demande avant mon départ et aller à l'ambassade de Bruxelles ou puis-je me le fournir une fois arrivée à l'aéroport de Dakar ?

Il faut vous pré-enroler sur le site de la snedai (vous remplissez le formulaire et payez en ligne), vous devez ensuite recevoir 2 mails, un premier mail instantané qui est le reçu d'inscription, un deuxième mail envoyé plus tard (c'est variable, des personnes l'ont reçu en 2 jours, moi ça a mis plus d'une semaine) qui est l'accord de pré-enrolement. Ensuite 2 possibilités, soit vous allez au consulat pour faire le visa (il me semble que celui est Bruxelles est équipé, à Paris, j'ai déposé mes documents mardi 23, j'ai eu le visa lundi 29) soit vous embarquez avec votre accord de pré-enrolement et vous faites le reste des démarches (prise d'empreintes et photo) à votre arrivée à Dakar.
Le plus important est de faire la démarche sur internet et de recevoir l'accord de pré-enrolement qui est un document de voyage (il est bien stipulé sur le doc que vous pouvez voyager avec), ensuite le reste peut se faire à l'aéroport, d'après les premiers retours ça se passe plutôt bien à l'arrivée à Dakar, j'ai mis je pense plus de temps à le faire au consulat (entre l'attente pour passer et le fait de devoir y aller 2 fois), mais arrivant à 0h30 et pouvant me déplacer sans trop de soucis car je suis sur Paris, j'ai préféré le faire avant de partir...

vous pouvez aller quand vous voulez sur le site pour demander votre visa. Je pars dans une semaine et je viens seulement de le faire cette semaine mais vous pouvez aussi être plus prévoyante et le faire bien à l'avance !
Ce qui compte avant de commencer c'est d'avoir en documents à joindre : une copie de votre billet d'avion, une copie de votre passeport et une copie de votre réservation d’hôtel ou logement. Donc si vous n'avez pas encore tout ça, pas de stress vous avez le temps !

Tout dépend si vous souhaitez faire le visa au consulat avant de partir ou le retirer à l'aéroport.
Si vous voulez le faire au consulat, comptez un peu plus de temps car il faut prendre rdv (pour le consulat de Paris, pour les autres consulats le rdv n'est pas nécessaire je crois) s'y rendre et le retirer quelques jours plus tard. Sinon la démarche sur le site est assez rapide (préparez tous les documents à l'avance et pour une personne, en 15min c'est fait), la réception du premier mail instantanné, le deuxième prend un peu plus de temps (un peu plus d'une semaine pour moi).
Pour novembre vous avez le temps, attendez que les vacances soient finies, ils sont en train de s'organiser et du coup la procédure sera plus claire et un peu plus rodée.
Pour vous donner une idée entre mon inscription sur le site et le retrait du visa au consulat, ça m'a pris 2 semaines 1/2 (inscription faite le 11/07, réception du mail d'accord de pré-enrolement le 19/07, rdv au consulat de Paris le 23/07, retrait au consulat le 29/07) pour un départ le 17/08!

Bonjour, nous sommes partis au Sénégal du 8 au 22 août avec nos 2 petites filles. En France on nous a dit pas besoin de visa avec vol+hôtel. Ok super!!! Arrivés à l'aéroport la compagnie iberia (hôtesse détestable au possible, il faut vraiment qu'elle change de boulot) nous interdit l'accès à l'avion sans visa. Après une négociation très très compliquée et l'aide d'une autre famille nous sommes acceptés à bord. En arrivant à Dakar nous avons dû faire 3 h de queue en pleine nuit avec la fatigue du voyage( un enfer avec des enfants) pour enfin avoir les fameux sésames!!!!! LES VISAS!!!!. Une fois dans l'hôtel le Neptune (hôtel terrible le best de notre voyage) a saly nous discutons avec les autres vacanciers et on découvrent avoir été les seuls a avoir payés les visas 50 € par personne donc 200€ pour 4 (un vrai budget dans les vacances). De retour des vacances nous allons à l'ambassade (injouable par Tél et par mail) pourquoi avons nous payés et pas les autres (injustice) il nous répond que le Sénégal à le droit de choisir qui va payer ou pas!!! Du grand n'importe quoi!! Et en plus on se fait agresser par le type de l'ambassade qui nous dit je cite"sortez de mon bureau" alors que nous étions très calmes et demandions juste réparation! Il nous dit juste envoyer un courrier au ministre de l'intérieur! Le Sénégal et la compagnie iberia PLUS JAMAIS!!! Gouvernement corrompu !

Bonsoir, Doris Certains je dirais même tous sauf nous n'ont pas payés le visa, ils ont réussi à décoller et passer sans!!! Trop bizarre! Nous ont nous a obligés. Nous sommes allés à l'ambassade hier et il nous a dit c'est à la tête du client, certains passent et pas d'autres. Nous avions tous un TO! Je pense que le prix du visa est fixe mais je ne suis pas sûre à 100%. Par la route aucune idée si ils laissent passer!! Mais par avion c'est pénible et surtout avec iberia. Attention au Mali c'est dangereux! L'ambassade a Paris est impossible à avoir par téléphone ou par mail, il faut se déplacer, c'est mieux. Pensez au vaccin de la fievre jaune c'est très important, selon les centres c'est avec ou sans rendez vous. Surtout 10 jours avant votre départ. Bon courage à vous et bon voyage.

Bonjour, il n'est pas toujours facile d' avoir des vrais infos sur les voyages, merci pour votre soutient. Mon compagnon et moi sommes des amoureux des voyages, il est important de voir ce qu'il se passe à l'extérieur de chez soi et très enrichissant pour nos enfants. Bonne journée.
Je pense que votre désappointement vient du fait que vous semblez avoir fait une confusion sur le contenu de ce qu'offre un TO et le fait que partir avec un TO exonère du visa. Ne pas confondre vol et hôtel (à la carte) avec séjour (package) vol + hôtel. L'un oblige à un visa, l'autre en est (encore) exonéré (provisoirement).
- Comme vous le précisez, je pense que vous avez pris un vol et un hôtel par une agence de voyages, qui n'est peut être pas un des (rares) TO opérant en package sur le Sénégal; en d'autres termes je suppose que vous avez choisi votre vol (compagnie) et l'hôtel séparément, et vous avez payé le tout. Si vous aviez pris un package séjour par un TO, vous auriez payé l'ensemble globalement sans les détails de prix du vol et du prix du séjour, et il vous aurait été remis un voucher faisant apparaître clairement le type de prestation. C'est avec ce document que vous auriez été exonéré de visa. Les policiers à l'aéroport de Dakar sont parfaitement informés sur ce point.
Il est en effet improbable qu'un TO français offrant un séjour "package" utilise Ibéria comme compagnie aérienne au départ de France. De même, un TO opérant habituellement au Sénégal aurait du vous informer de cette subtilité (voyage carte/Package). Cette "subtilité" existait d'ailleurs avant la mise en place des visas: dans le cas d'un package, une carte d'identité suffisait...et pas dans les autres cas.
Vous auriez réservé avec Corsair ou Air Méditterranée de France (vols directs), il est peu probable que vous ayez pu embarquer si vous n'ayez pas de package.
Enfin, en parcourant le forum bien AVANT, vous auriez pu avoir des informations sur cette mise en place de visa, ce qui aurait conforté sur cette destination. Ou pas.
- Ce que vous a dit l'agent de l'ambassade est décourageant, humiliant et faux, mais à assurément satisfait son égo: les conditions du visa sont parfaitement définies (même si beaucoup, dont moi, considèrent qu'elles sont totalement délirantes et vont tuer le tourisme); et il n'y a pas (pour une fois) d'exemption à la tête du client. Le prix du visa est fixe: 50€+2.50€ frais.
Mais bon, la mise en place du visa par "réciprocité" satisfait une majorité de sénégalais qui se sentent (et qui sont d'ailleurs) humiliés par les conditions que la France leur impose pour obtenir (ou pas) un visa.

En ce qui concerne les autres vacanciers venus sans visa, c'est sans doute:
- qu' ils sont arrivés fin juillet (le visa ayant mis en place le 1er juillet, une certaine "tolérance" avait été annoncée jusqu'à fin juillet.
- ou qu' ils sont arrivés par vol direct de France et que la compagnie aérienne a accepté le fait d'une réalité (bancale) de "package".
Je ne remets pas en cause le fait que le Sénégal ait institué un visa, mais les conditions, la confusion et l'impréparation totale pour l'obtenir. L'attitude de certains agents consulaires enfonçant encore plus le clou. Ceci n'incite pas les gens à y aller ou à y retourner.
La destination étant déjà chère auparavant, alors que le tourisme n'était déjà pas bien vaillant, va entrainer une chute encore plus drastique...

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

The information I’ve found about whether an international permit is required is contradictory. Some sources say you need one, others say you don’t.
Could anyone let me know if an international driver’s permit is necessary to rent a car in Australia (Perth), or if a French license is enough for a 7-day rental?
I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’m heading to Seoul in September, and to do that I need to get a travel authorization that we apply for through K-ETA....... turns out I can (barely, I admit) fill out the form up to the address of our "stay location," but every address I’ve entered has been rejected by the system. I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....
So, to anyone who’s successfully gotten the authorization, could you tell me which address you used to get that "elusive" approval?...

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?

My departure is slowly approaching, and now that I’ve got my Russian visa sorted, I’m fine-tuning the rest of my trip to Tajikistan. Since the Tajik visa is no longer required for stays under 30 days (for French nationals), I’ll need to visit the Ministry of Interior (OVIR) to register within 10 days of entering the country. No big deal, though, since I had to go there anyway to apply for my GBAO permit. 😉 However, I’ve *seen* several reports from travelers (mostly motorized) mentioning that you need an entry permit for Kyrgyzstan, which has to be arranged in advance at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) in Dushanbe. Otherwise, you’re *stuck* at the Kyzyl-Art border (with no Wi-Fi, of course, to try and sort it out). The most recent report was from a year ago, so I’d love to know if this is still the case and if it’s indeed at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) where you need to go for this pre-authorization.
