Attaque de bus dans le sud thaïlandais (14 mars 2007)

Des rebelles musulmans présumés ont ouvert le feu sur un bus dans une zone agitée du sud de la Thailande, mercredi, tuant huit passagers, a-t-on appris de source policière.
Le chauffeur du véhicule a été blessé dans l'attaque qui s'est déroulée vers 9h30 locales (02h30 GMT), a déclaré Apirak Sangkao, chef de la police de Yala.
Le bus assurait la navette entre le district de Betong, dans la province de Yala et Hat Yai, la ville principale du sud, non loin de la province de Songkhla.
Les rebelles présumés ont lancé une bombe sur le bus tandis qu'il ralentissait dans un virage, et ont ensuite tiré, blessant le chauffeur, a précisé l'officier de police Kitti Mankhong. Les attaquants ont ensuite ouvert la porte latérale du véhicule et tué chacun des passagers avec des fusils d'assaut, a-t-il dit.
La police et les soldats recherchent les assaillants.
Cette attaque survient alors que les autorités avaient renforcé la sécurité pour l'anniversaire, mardi, de la fondation du Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN), ou groupe séparatiste du Front de la révolution nationale. La police s'attendait à ce que les rebelles accueillent cet anniversaire avec violence.
Le BRN s'est formé en 1963, en partie en opposition à la politique du gouvernement thaï de l'époque visant à assimiler par la force les musulmans du sud du pays dans une société dominée par les bouddhistes. Le gouvernement a par la suite changé de politique.
Selon des responsables militaires, le BRN-Coordinate, une branche du BRN, a joué un un rôle déterminant dans les violences actuelles.
Des attaques violentes de véhicules se produisent presque quotidiennement dans les trois provinces thaïes à majorité musulmane - Yala, Narathiwat et Pattani - où une rébellion islamique a tué plus 2.000 personnes depuis janvier 2004.

C'est presque tous les jours maintenant. Cette semaine, 2 gamines abattues sur le chemin de l'ecole, puis un couple en moto. Et meme 3 ouvriers Birmans decapites "par erreur" (leurs agresseurs pensaient qu'ils etaient Thai).
Comme le disait la junte militaire quand ils ont pris le pouvoir: tout va aller mieux maintenant...

Ce message n'est pas là pour dire que la thailande touristique ou tu vas aller est dangereuse ou impraticable dû à quelques attentats à l'extrême sud mais juste pour informer et comprendre qu'un pays aussi beau soit il, avec des gens aussi souriants que les thai, et un tourisme très développé peut très bien avoir des zones de troubles.
Et pour te répondre, non tu ne vas pas annuler ton voyage, oui, tu vas te dorer la pillule sur la plage et non tu ne vas pas aller dans la province de Yala et Hat Yai (à moins que tu veuilles passer la frontière pour aller du côté malais...)

Ils doivent avoir une base de repli en Malaisie et pour l'instant seule les 4 provinces dde lextreme sud ont ete touchées ( quoique le recent attentat de bkk? PISTE MAFIEUSE OU SEPARATISTE?). c'est inquietant

Je vois que tu es deja au courant et plusieurs V-fistes aussi ...
Un nouveau degre de violence a ete franchi hier dans les 4 Provinces du Sud
de la Thailande ... C est etale sur toute le 1ere page du BANGKOK POST et du
NATION de ce matin. Cela devient tres dangereux desormais parce il y a des
touristes etrangers qui prennent de Minibus ou Minivans pour se deplacer dans le
Sud de la Thailande - Devant la Gare de HAT YAI il y la Gare des Minivans
pour PAK BARA et puis il y d autres Minibus qui relient le Port de SATUN de
THAMMALANG PIER a TRANG, PAK BARA, etc, ... a chaque arrivee et au depart
de et pour la Malaisie. Cela devient plus angoissant desormais ! Heureusemant
il y toujours cette possibilite d aller de LANGKAWI a KOH LIPE puis a KOH LANTA
via KOH MOOK, KOH NGAI et KOH BULONE par la voie maritime sans utiliser la
route terrestre normale par KRABI - TRANG - ou HAT YAI ou SATUN. J espere que
penserez a la prendre si vous teniez beaucoup a vous rendre sur les Iles du Sud
et surtout a KOH LIPE !

Je suis pas parano de nature mais la ca devient quand même inquiétant, entre les attentats au Sud et la pollution due aux feux de forêt au Nord, pauvre Thailande... on va tous aller se réfugier en Issan 😉

😉Bonsoir. Je te conseille d aller a KOH LANTA - de KRABI ou de KOH PHI PHI - par le Port de Saladan
au Nord de KOH LANTA et de t acheter un billet pour ce fameux Super Speedboat TGV et d aller faire un
tour a KOH NGAI la plus belle d apres moi et de continuer ensuite sur KOH MOOK ... apres tu verras bien
pour la suite d apres les evenements du jour ? La Thailande va traverser encore une tres mauvaise
periode ... Apres ces meurtres des 8 innocents passagers d un Minivan que va-t-il se passer apres ?
Une autre escalade de violence ? Puis ... depuis une dizaine de jours, CHIANG MAI, CHIANG RAI et les
3 provinces du Nord sont sous un matelas epais de pollution dont le taux est a plus de 250 pct du taux
nomal ! Tout le monde porte des masques anti-pollution impossibles de trouver. Des Vols d avion sont
retardes ou supprimes tout simplement a CHIANG MAI, CHIANG RAI et a MHS pres de la frontiere avec
la Birmanie . Les gens de CHIANG MAI m ont dit que c est du jamais vu comme pollution . Apres tout
c est la faute des paysans qui brulent leurs terres pour pouvoir cultiver et cela a degenere et trop c est
trop ! On suffoque a longueur de journee et tout le monde tousse et eternue a cause des particules de
polluants tres nocifs ( la Presse parle de deadly particles ). On a des boutons partout et on gratte
jusqu a enlever la peau... Je conseille aux V-fistes de venir tout simplement en Train ou en Bus-VIP s ils devraient venir au Nord pour le moment et avant de venir aller donc acheter un ou 2 masques anti-pollution
de qualite et efficace a Bangkok ou de les apporter de France eventuellement ? Ils n arrivent toujours pas encore a faire tomber une pluie artificielle a ce jour - qu on attend toujours ! Et les autorites locales
pensent a declarer l Etat d urgence pour les 3 Provinces du Nord avec interdiction absolue de bruler les
champs et de rendre cette pollution plus catastrophique encore ? Les Birmans brulent aussi leurs terres a le frontiere Nord-Oest avec la Thailande. Il n y a pas que des Thailandais ! Avant c etaient des Indonesiens !--

prendre des otages des touristes et plongeurs francais et une journaliste connue de FR-2
de les ramener sur leur Ile au Sud de Philippines et de les retenir en otages pendant des
mois! N oublions pas que KOH LIPE est a une heure de Vedette rapide des Iles en Malaisie !

NON, j ai bien quitte CHIANG MAI a toute vitesse ! Je suis bien arrive a BKK ! Grace au Ciel ! Ouf ! Je me prepare a rentrer en France dans 6 jours . On a pu profiter d une baisse de pollution dans un ciel plus clair donc plus visible pour les avions venant d ailleurs d atterrir et de decoller aussitot ... Cinq avions decollaient de l Aeroport de CHIANG MAI a 15 minutes d intervalle chaque pour BKK, KRABI, ... en une heure ! Il y en avait d autres pas encore arrives donc ils decolleraient plus tard avec beaucoup de retard de 30mn a 2 heures s ils pouvaient atterrir a CHIANG MAI ? Cette pollution est vraiment nocive et on est malade de toux, de mal de gorge, de la peau irritee, de mal de tete toute la journee si on va dehors ! J ai avale 3 boites de Strpcils en 2 jours ! Et je tousse toujours a BKK avec la gorge tres irritee. Donc, je restais dans ma chambre A/C a lire et a regarder des mauvaises nouvelles du Sud a la TV pour mieux respirer et de ne sortir que le soir au coucher du soleil plus frais pour aller diner . Dans KHAOSAN ROAD tres surveillee bloquee aux deux bouts par des barrieres metalliques avec de nombreux policiers. Moins de commerces ambulants sur les trottoirs et pas trop de voitures autorisees et admises sur la chaussee le long de KSR desormais . Comme toujours beaucoup de touristes ! Je rentre donc rapidement en pensant a d autres destinations pour la prochaine fois si la situation en Thailande me permettra de revenir? J ai decouvert enfin 2 autres endroits, de vrais coins de Paradis tres bien surveilles et tres proteges par des Rangers installes sur place que tu peux certainement deviner pour passer des jours heureux apres KPP bien entendu ! Je ne reviendrai pas sur KOH LIPE pour la 3eme fois. Je ne prendrai aucun risque avec le Sud ... De toute facon, il y a des russes pour occuper la place et y passer leurs vacances ! Il n y manquerait donc pas de touristes pour faire vivre les habitants de KOH LIPE, les nomades des Mers CHAO LAYS sympas 😎--

salut, un bon conseil, arrêtes les strepsils 😉 et va dans une pharmacie Chinoise, tu trouveras quelques poudres qui font des miracles pour la toux, (diommage que je ne t'ai pas vu avant car c'est à Chiang Mai qu'il y a la potion magique pour la gorge ..) et puis surtout, meme si tu aimes, evites tout ce qui est gras, c'est tres nocif pour la gorge meme si tu penses que ca adouci sur le moment !!!

ce qui n arrange ma ma toux et ma gorge ! c est quoi te potion magique ? J irai
voir une Pharmacie dans le Quartier Chinois avant de rentrer en France dans
quelques jours, heureusement ! Il est grand temps ! Ce soir, plein de policiers
dans le KSR, en uniformes et en civil avec des chefs et une unite SWAT pour une
demonstration de force devant les cameras de la TV ! Aujourd hui des fouilles
sont effectuees a chaque entree du SIAM PARAGON avec portiques de detection
et puis tous les sacs sont examines soigneusement par de nombreux agents de
securite prives en uniformes . On n a plus le sentiment d etre en vacances ici !--

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing. I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture. But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary. If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.

For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

Sandakan → Sepilok: No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??
Sandakan → Semporna: From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄). Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM. Where do I board, and where does it drop me off?
Semporna → Tawau: Found this via AI—is it legit? No online booking, as far as I can tell. Minivans leave from a stop in the Jalan Hospital area, near the Milimewa supermarket, supposedly???? And when you arrive, does it drop you at **Sabindo Square** in Tawau?????

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
