Moi je ne comprends toujours pas comment à l'heure actuelle un type peut se promener avec tnat de liquide sur lui !!!

Oui je me souviens de ça, mais tu sais il y en a ils viennent avec plus d'argent .
J'ai un ami qui travaille à Phuket depuis 17 ans, un jour il m'a expliquer qu'il avait un client il se balader avec lui près de 500 000 frs à l'époque quand l'euro n'était pas là, là ça devient douteux quand même, et ce gars en question il voulait acheter tout, bateau sur Koh-Phi-Phi, voiture à Phuket, ect... il avait même payer un gars pour sa traduction d'anglais le type le suivait partout tout les jours payer, hôtels payer, resto payer il n'avait que s'occuper de la traduction . un vrai fou mais pas dangereux . Il voulait même louer une suite pour un an dans un hôtel pour te dire la graviter de ce cas, et j'en passe .

A la première lecture, je croyais que les Thai parlent si mal le français, j'allais proposer mon aide, mais en réalité c'est bien google qui devrait engager un prof français🙂
Sur le fond de l'histoire, cela arrive souvent au VietNam, et les vietnamiens refusent souvent la récompense, car ils estiment que tout se mérite.
J'ai diné dernièrement, sur le bateau de Saigon et j'ai payé l'addition avec un gros billet et je suis parti avant qu'on me rende la monnaie. Le personnel me rattrappa à la descente du bateau pour me le rendre.

Un truc qui arrive souvent au terminal Thalys à Bruxelles midi (un cousin s'est fait avoir en revenant de Paris). La cible: des hommes d'affaires avec un laptop. La dernière victime: un businessman japonais.
Procédé: Un jeune maghrebin s'approche de vous et vous crache à la figure. Un autre (son complice), témoin de la scène s'approche de vous et vous tend un mouchoir pour vous essuyer le visage. Vous déposez vos bagages, vous vous essuyez, vous remercier le type qui vous a tendu le mouchoir et au moment de reprendre vos affaires: vous constatez que votre ordinateur portable a disparu...
alors je ne raconterai pas ce qui m'est arrivé a bali, sur le trottoir, entouré par 3 jeunes filles !!!
elles ont réussi a ma piquer mes dollars dans la poche d e mon jean .... première et unique fois !!

J'ai un collègue qui rentre d'Argentine où il a réussi à se faire piquer un sac à dos de 20kg.
Le scénario:
tous les 3 sont assis à la terasse d'un café devant une gare. Une fille les abordent pour leur demander l'heure. Mon collègue lui répond qu'il n'a pas l'heure.
"Tu n'as vraiment pas l'heure?"
"Ben non, tu vois bien que je n'ai pas de montre" lui dit-il en montrant ses poignets.
La fille séloigne...
Ils terminent leur consommation et au moment de repartir, ils constatent qu'il leur manque un sac à dos.
Jusqu'à présent j'ai toujours eu de la chance. La seule chose qu'on m'aie volé, c'est un essuie de bain à Amsterdam dans une auberge de jeunesse.
Selon mon experience (quand je suis en Thailande j'habite Bkk), et contrairement a ce qu'on peut lire ca et la, la plupart des chauffeurs de taxi de Bkk sont honetes et sympas. Et meme tres causants quand on peut communiquer.

depuis que je prends le taxi a bkk, je n'en ai trouvé aucun pas sympa, le seul qui m'a un jour foutu les boules, ( et dieu sait qu'il était gentil ) c'était pour aller prendre mon avion, , il se trompe de chemin et ne sort pas ou il faut, on se retrouve dans un embouteillage dans une banlieu ( je ne sais ou ), le temps passait, et je devenais un peu stressé, lui no problem, enfin nous arrivons à l'heure, de contentement je lui ai laissé plus de pourboire que d'habitude !!!! mais que je pestais intérieurement avant dans ces embouteillages ....... comme quoi nul n'est parfait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

J'ai eu une éxpérience comme cela avec un chauffeur de motorbike. J'avais commandé quelque chose
a une boutique qui me délivrait par motorbike, 200 bahts la commission. Au paravant j'avais fais un
transfert a l abangkok bank pour payer une avance de 10.000 bahts.
J'ai tout simplement oublié que j'avais payé ces 10.000 bahts donc je lui ai donné, et il n' a pas vérifié.
Donc je me rend compte qu'il y a un gros trou dans le budget et sans explication, je demande a ma copine,
on commence a chercher et on se souvient que c'est le motorbike. Elle l'appelle, et ce brave homme explique
qu'il a appelé des tas de fois mais portable coupé, c'est apres qu'il avait vu qu'il y avait trop d'argent.
Je lui fixe un rendez vous, il vient avec sa petite motorbike, il me redonne l'argent, me demande rien du tout,
meme pas le prix pour qu'il se déplace.... vraiment j'était stupéfait, presque les larmes de voir tant d'honneteté.
Donc je vais chercher un jus d'orange pour lui et je lui offre une certaine somme d'argent assez conséquente, qu'il
a refusé, j'ai fini par lui mettre dans sa poche...

Je confirme ce genre de situation. Les asiatiques ne considèrent pas que ce soit un mérite, l'honnêteté. Pour remercier, en général, je leur demande leur numéro de téléphone, et je l'appelle pour tous mes déplacements.

Enorme coup de bol en 2003 lors d'un séjour à Phuket !!
C'est le jour où nous retournons à Bangkok après une petite semaine bien sympathique à Phuket.
Je m'adresse à la réception pour qu'ils appellent un taxi et vlà le petit groupe parti en direction de l'aéroport de Phuket.
Descente du taxi, récupération des bagages : j'avais emmené des tonnes de souvenirs LOL. Bye bye au chauffeur et on rentre dans l'aéroport.
On enregistre les bagages à mettre en soute et là, je m'aperçois que j'ai oublié mon sac à dos sur la banquette arrière du taxi.
Contenu : passeport, liquide, etc ...
J'appelle l'accueil de l'hotel pour voir s'ils n'ont pas les coordonnées du taxi en question et ils se mettent à chercher.
Bref, panique total !! 🏴☠️
Voilà qu'à un moment, je vois le chauffeur de taxi courir dans tous les sens dans le hall de l'aéroport avec mon sac à dos dans les mains !!!
Il me reconnait et me tend le sac, tout essouflé ! J'en crois pas mes yeux !! 😮
J'ouvre mon sac pour vérifier que tout est là ...
Je regarde dans mon portefeuille pour voir qu'il me reste du liquide et je lui donne tout : environ 1300 bahts.
En général à 99 % ils sont honnêtes les chauffeurs de taxis à Bangkok en cas d'oublie des affaires dans leurs voitures . J'ai un copain un jour il avait oublier ses costumes tout neuf dans le coffre, précipitation pour le départ il m'a expliquer que le chauffeur l'a retrouver au bureau d'enregistrement il s'en était même pas aperçu .

C'est pour ça que j'ai pris une bonne habitude depuis longtemps, je note toujours le N° de licence du taxi pas pour la méfiance du chauffeur du taxi loin de là, mais comme tu dis ils sont presque tous de la même couleur donc si il t'arrête n'importe ou et pas à ton hôtel le gars lui même sait qu'il y a peu de chance de te retrouver aussi . On sait jamais tu peux laisser tomber de ta poche ton passeport ou oublier autre chose . Avec le N° de taxi ça va plus vite de le retrouver en allant à leur centrale ou téléphoné .

Je fais remonter ce post qui date un peu car je ne l'avais pas vu (à cette date j'étais en thaïlande) pour vous dire qu'au mois de Décembre un gar a oublié dans un taxi à Bangkok sa sacoche contenant 50 000 $US en liquide et tout ses papiers. Le chauffeur à tout rapporter à la police pour qu'on essait de retrouver le propriétaire (il ne savait pas ou il logeait). Ce qui a été fait: l'étourdi, lorsqu'il s'est apperçu qu'il lui manquait quelque chose a été au poste de police le plus proche et c'est comme cela qu'il a été retrouvé. Il ne manquait pas un $US lorsque tout lui a été rendu. Le "distrait" a récompensé le chauffeur en lui donnant 5000 Bahts.
L'info est passée fin Décembre sur ITV qui a mis à l'honneur ce chauffeur de taxi.
Je crois qu'être honnète pour un Thaï (pour la plus grande majorité) fais parti de son éducation. Pour preuve toujours au mois de Décembre avec ma copine on va acheter des billets de bus au terminal d'Udon Thani. Ma copine règle tout en discutant avec l'employé. En partant du bureau elle recompte la monnaie et s'apperçoit qu'on lui a rendu 200 Bahts de trop: elle est retournée au bureau pour rendre les 200 Bahts à l'employé.
L'info est passée fin Décembre sur ITV qui a mis à l'honneur ce chauffeur de taxi.
Comme quoi ça fait plaisir de lire ceci, en novembre dernier je me suis arrêter dans un petit resto sur la route de Chumphon et j'avais oublier mon appareil photo, une voiture me faisait des appels de phares c'était le gars du resto pour me rendre mon appareil photo, j'ai voulu lui donner 500 bahts il l'a pas voulu conclusion je suis retourner deux fois chez lui manger et je peux te dire qu'il a apprécier .😉

alors j y vais assi de ma petite anecdote, très recente, sur l honnetete des chauffeurs de taxi (ceci dit..;pourquoi ca a l air de tellement nous etonner ?...), en nov. j arrive a BKK (ce n est pas la premiere fois, donc je connais la valeur des baths etc...) je prends un taxi pour mon hotel sur suk, il me reclame 350 baths..normal..et je lui tends....350 euros...ca la fait sourire, et il m a dit, non....350 baths....
une fois j etais en retard a un rendez vous avec la charmante jeune fille qui est devenu ma copine et dans le speed je lui ai donne un 500 au lieu d un 50 (il ont tres vaguement la meme couleur) en lui disant ok gardez la monnaie en m ejectant du taxi, j ai du faire un heureux !

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.

• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
