Bonjour, je reviens juste d'une petite virée de 12 jours à Krabi Phi Phi Bangkok. Il y a énormement de choses que j'ai adoré là bas, mais je voulais vous faire part de ce qui n'à pas été parfait, pour que vous puissiez l'éviter.
En vrac :
A Bangkok, j'avais trouvé ici le nom d'un hotel "kitch", le Reflections : c est top ! pas trop loin de l'aéroport (20 mn en taxi meter, environ180 baht), du Skytrain (BTS Ari), une petite piscine, et surtout une déco hallucinante (http://picturatus.blogspot.com

Merci pour tes reflexions. Nous serons à Phi phi dans 3 semaines après une croisière plongée dans les iles similan. Nous avons reservé à Ayayaburi, certes cher mais on avait envie d'un truc un peu plus classy après notre escapade au Laos. connais tu ce resort?
Nous voulons aller 1 journée pour plonger à Hin Daeng et Hin Muang, peux tu nous conseiller un club sympa?
Tes photos sont magnifiques.🙂 Je retournerai quand j'aurai plus de temps. Où les as tu prises? et avec quel appereil?
Concernant les retours sur Phuket l'hotel nous a proposé pour 3400bht. On est 3 et je trouve cela horriblement cher. Je ne sais pas si c'est A/R. Que veut tu dire par prévoir le taxi avant?
A Mooreanne : merci pour tes conseils, je suis déjà allé 3 fois aux Maldives, et pour un plongeur pere de famille, c est idéal ;)... si seulement j avais eu un appareil photo numérique à l époque (ça m aurait evité des photos ratées à cause d un mauvais chargement de pellicule !).
A Mida : je ne suis pas allé au Arayaburi (que je connaissais sous le nom Bay View Resort)... l'emplacement est idéal, tout pres de Tonsai, je pense que le Phi Phi Village est plus beau, mais il faut y aller en bateau, ce qui est genant. Donc ton choix me parait excellent.
Pour les ecoles de plongée, ça grouille, de toute façon pour Hin Mueng Hin Daeng, elles se regroupent pour un bateau plus gros (j y suis allé en bateau rapide du PP Village, mais je dirais que c est à 1H30 de Tonsai). Les plus connus sont Hippo Divers, j'ai plongé aussi avec OZ, mais à mon avis les gros clubs de Tonsai se valent tous. Quand j y etais (mi févrieir), il y avait encore du vent d est et de la pluie (la mauvaise saison est arrivé tard cette année), du coup la visi était assez moyenne. Pas mal de courant a Hin Mueng, finalement j ai préféré la virée King Cruiser (épave) et Shark Point (trouble, courant, mais il y avait des requins leopards). Dans la foulée tu fais aussi Anemone reef, peu d interet. (en fait en Thailande, tu fais des sorties de 2 ou 3 plongée, avec déjeuner leger à bord : c est en moyenne 2.200 bath, plus les supplement "essence" pour les spots plus eloignés).
J ai fait des photos avec un Coolpix S1 (5 millions pixels seulement, mais un mode photo sous marine qui coorrige un peu le bleu) et son caisson etanche (40 metres si le joint est bien graissé ^^ ).
Pour le transfert Phuket c est hors de prix !!! moi j ai prix le ferry, qui met 1H30, c est a dire le meme temps que les bateaux rapide, et c etait 250 bath par personne je crois. En arrivant a Tonsai il y a plein de mini agence de voyage, achete tes transfert la bas c est simple et economique (et demande le prix d un minibus de Phuket a l aeroport, c est peut etre moins cher que les 600 bath reclamés sur place par les pseudos taxis).

Arayaburi est voisin à Bay View Resort. J'ai préferé Arayaburi car ce sont des bungalows et Bay View a l'aire d'être plus style hôtel.

trouve les Bungalows les plus chers de KOH PHI PHI ! Très prisés par de
jeunes couples mariés en "lune de miel" ! Il y a ici un Super Luxe Bungalow à
26.000 Bht la nuit avec une piscine et plage privée
( moitié prix hors-sainson en Mai-Juin ) !
Tu peux aller de TONSAI à ces Resorts - Jour et Nuit - en Longtail Boats ! Il y a près
de 400 Longtail Boats à AO TON SAI et AO LOH DALUM qui recherchent des clients
jour et nuit ! Ce sont des Taxis locaux à KOH PHI PHI !
On trouve des Bungalows côté du Restaurant Carpe Diem pour 1.000 à 2.000 Bht
- donc pas besoin d'aller si loin ! Déjà, des V-Fistes se plaignent qu'on ne trouve
pas à KPP des logements à moins de 600 Bht ! Mais à partir de 800 Bht, il y en a
assez ...
Quand on part de KOH PHI PHI à PHUKET on arrive au Port Ratsada - au Sud de la
Ville ... là il y a des Minibus qui emmènent les voyageurs à l'Aéroport, à Patong, etc, ...
pour 150 à 300 Bht ... mais il faut penser à acheter des tickets d'avance dans certaines
Agences à TONSAI en même temps que le Billet de Ferry ! Sinon, il faut payer les taxis !
En ce qui concerne GULF AIR ... Je suis parti avec eux 2 fois à ce jour ... aucun problème !
Je suis rentré il y a 9 jours avec eux ... obligé de faire escales à MUSCAT, ABU DHABI, BAHRAIN
et changer l'avion 3 fois de BangKok à Paris-CDG - entre ABU DHABI et BAHRAIN à 45mn de vol
dans un de leurs Boeing-767 pourris - à BAHRAIN, ils nous ont demandé de changer d'avion pour
un Airbus plus récent ... sinon ils ne pourraient pas atterrir à PARIS-CDG ...parce que leur vieux
Boeing-767 ... étant un avion "poubelle" et ils avaient peur d'être attrappés et mis sur la
" Liste Noire " ! C'était un véritable voyage " frisson " ! Tout les touristes avaient vraiment peur ! Heureusement cela de durait que ... 45mn de vol à 1h00-2h00 du matin !
Mais pour une prochaine fois ? ... Je devrais bien trouver une autre Compagnie ! Tu n'es pas le seul !

Alors c'est exactement ce qui va se passer! en plus mon fils nous rejoint de Koh Tao, comme il va être heureux d'aider sa mère adorée🙂 C'est connu, les fils sont très "tendres" avec leur mère!!!!
Nnthanh, sauf si je me trompe il n y a qu'un seul resort qui s appelle THE Beach à Phi Phi, meme si effectivement comme tu le précise beaucoup ajoutent la mention "beach" apres leur nom... et c est justement parceque c est censé etre un hotel haut de gamme que je le déconseille, le rapport qualité prix est très mauvais. C'est le dernier hotel à l'est de Long Beach, voila comme ça c est plus clair ;)
Pour les logements à 600 ou 800 baths, j en ai vu, après chacun fait ce qu'il veut... moi j'ai considéré qu'ayant peu de vacances, et me levant tot pour plonger, je n'avais pas envie de passer une nuit médiocre sous une tole ondulée, avec la chaleur et les beuglements des routards scandinaves qui font la fête (comprendre se saouler) jusqu à 3 h du mat'... je préfere encore dormir sur la plage avec ma moustiquaire, mais chacun fait ce qu'il veut.
Globalement, il y a eu une inflation importante à Phi Phi, et d autres voyageursconnaissant mieux la Thailande que moi penchent aussi dans ce sens.
Pour le mini bus a Ratsada, il n y en avait pas... c est pour ça que je met en garde. Et entierement d'accord avec toi pour Gulf Air.

Secondo : Quelle la meilleure soluce et la - cher pour acheter 2 billets allers Phuket --> PhiPhi sachant que je réside pendant 1 jour au Novotel près du port de Rasada ?
Tertio : Comment est l'hotel Andaman Resort à PhiPhi ? Quelles sont les meilleurs endroits pour faire la Fiesta le soir (Style bar concert) ? Vaut il mieux faire une journée Kayak autours de PhiPhi Ley ou une journée style Longboat avec snrockling + bouffe autours de PhiPhi Ley sachant que nous sommes 2 couples ?
Est-il simple d'échanger ses travaler chèques contre la monnaie locale dans les iles du sud (PhiPhi, Koh Muk, Koh Bulon, Koh Lipe) ? Prennent-ils une commission pour l'echange traveller cheque - monnaie locale (sinon autant retirer de l'argent à un dab) ? Les bureaux de changes acceptent-ils les traveller ?
😏 En Thailande, je change de l'argent d'Euro en Baht, je fais des retraits d'argent en Baht des
ATM/DAB toujours dans une BANQUE ! En comparant d'abord le taux de change affiché tous les jours
dans chaque banque afin de trouver le meilleur taux ! ... Jamais dans un Aéroport sauf pour payer le Bus - seulement 10 à 20 Euros ! Ta question me surprend beaucoup !
Billets de Ferry de PHUKET pour KOH PHI PHI ...mais tu les achètes à l'embarcadère de Ratsada !
PHI PHI ANDAMAN RESORT à KOH PHI PHI est un de mes préférés ! Là tu trouveras tout dans le coin
- jour et nuit - pour tes vacances ! Quand aux Bars et autres Coins Nocturnes, tu verras toi-même sur place - car il y en a plusieurs dans le coin . Pas besoin que je te les indique ! C'est ton choix !
Tu peux louer un Longtail Boat pour 4 et faire le tour de KPP-DON ou KPP-LEH pour la journée pour 1.800 Bht pour 6-8 heures ... faire du snorkeling et baignade à Ao Maya . Faire du Kayak... Faire de l'escalade des Falaises ou d'y sauter d'en haut ! Relaxe et sois cool car tu vas partir en vacances !
Pas besoin de faire tant de soucis avant le départ ... et puis vous êtes 2 couples ! Alors ?

Pour ce qui est de l'argent, je pense que je ne vais pas voir trop de banque. J'arrive à bkk d'où je repars de suite à Phuket, où je vais à Cape Panwa, tout en bas. Puis voyages inter-iles....Alors les banques je ne sais pas où je vais les trouver.
Salut, je voudrais juste parler de mon expérience à Rai Leh à Krabi, qui est tout à fait le contraire de la tienne... Pour nous ça été super, pas cher, au Sand Sea Resort du beau côté de Rai Leh, pas où il y a les mangroves partout. La bouffe super bonne, les jus de fruits, pas en poudre du tout hehehe. Bref, nous c'était pas la saison haute, août 2005, et par conséquent p-e que c'est beaucoup plus tranquille....Nous avons adoré.
Où vaut-il mieux changer de l'argent sans parler de banques (je n'en n'aurais pas sur mon périple) : Aéroport (BKK ou Phuket), Hotel (style Novotel ou ptite guesthouse) ou les ptits bureaux de change dans la rue ?

une surprise pour moi de l'apprendre ! J'ai quitté KPP le 04/01/06 .
Peut-être quelqu'un d'autre le connait s'il arrive après moi à KPP ? Je me
renseigne par curiosité car je ne tiens pas à aller sur une Plage extérieure
loin de TON SAI ! ...
Le Reflections ça a l'air vraiment drôle, mais pas bon marché avec des chambres de 2400 Bt à 3100 Bt. Est-ce vraiment aussi bien que ça en a l'air sur leur site ? As tu aimé leur accueil, leurs chambres, la piscine et tout ?

Je n ai pas dit que c était bon marché, j ai dit que j avais aimé.... l'accueil est gentil, les chambres vraiment originale, ils pretent des CD pour en profiter en musique... pour la piscine j'ai diné autour 2 fois, mais je n ai pas eu le temps de m y plonger en journée. Apres une journée de shopping ou balade a Bangkok, c est agréable de respirer un peu au calme, je pense que la piscine et la verdure autour remplit surtout ce role.
Je viens d'aller voir le site de l'hotel Rflections a bgk, suite a vos conseils. Les prix vt changer en 2006/2007 ok, le probleme c'est que le studio devient + cher que la superieur! Est -ce 1 erreur de leur part? Qu'en pensez-vs?

trois escales dont un imprévu et de trop ! D'abord Muscat, puis Abu Dhabi et enfin Bahrain !
Dans un des vieux Boeing 767 au lieu d'un Airbus A-340 plus récent ... On était obligé de
changer d'avion 3 fois ! Ce qui était effrayant, c'était leur Vol régulier GF-19 d' Abu Dhabi qui devrait aller jusqu'à Paris-CDG sans escale avec un autre Airbus A-330 . Or nous étions
obligés de monter dans un autre vieux Boeing 767 - un véritable avion-poubelle avec des
sièges mal fixés, sans ceintures de sécurité, des compartiments de bagages mal fermés ...
Et pour la première fois de ma vie ... j'ai entendu un Chef Steward dire à la centaine de Touristes
pour Paris: " Please seat where you can ! - because on this flight, there are no seats with
reservations ! = Allez vous asseoir où vous pouviez parce que sur ce Vol il n'y a pas de places
réservées ! " . Ce qui était vrai ! Parce que sur ce Vol, il y avait un grand groupe de Saoudiens
qui voyageaient avec leur Cheik jusqu'à Bahrain afin de rentrer par la route en Arabie Saoudite
et que ce Vol était un des Vols fourre-tout à très bas prix pour la population locale qui rentre
à la maison - Un des Vols de Minuit de la semaine ! Donc Touristes ou pas Touristes, ce
n'est pas très important de faire dans de telles conditions le trajet Abu Dhabi - Bahrain d'une heure seulement ! Quand on arrivait enfin à Bahrain ... on nous a demandé de descendre et de changer d'avion pour continuer sur Paris-CDG ! Oh miracle ! Cette fois on avait un Airbus A-330 plus récent et l'autre avion-poubelle de Boeing 767 restait à Bahrain ! Des hôtesses occidentales nous ont demandé
d'écrire à leur Direction pour nous plaindre parce que cela arrivait très souvent avec GULF AIR ! Plusieurs d'entre nous étaient très furieux ... parce qu'ils voulaient vraiment contacter la
Direction de l'Aviation Civile une fois que l'avion arrivait à Roissy - pour les coincer sur le tarmac et de les faire ficher sur la fameuse Liste Noire de Compagnies dangereuses pour les passagers ! Or ils
étaient plus malins que nous ! ... On se souvient longtemps de notre Vol GF-19 de GULF AIR du 13/02/2006 ! Si je comprends bien, ils ont recommencé le même coup avec toi lors de ton retour
à Paris très récemment ? C'était mon 2ème voyage Aller/Retour PARIS-BANGKOK avec GULF AIR ! Et pour la prochaine fois ? Il faut que je recherche une autre Compagnie Aérienne pour voyager !

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

Family of 4—2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 15) who are well-traveled.
We’re planning a 15-day trip to Indonesia and would love your thoughts on our itinerary.
We love discovering local culture, food (!!), seeing beautiful landscapes, and keeping an active pace. We’re not the type to lounge on the beach for 5 hours or spend ages by the pool when we’re halfway across the world. Also, we try to avoid places "ruined" by mass tourism (like Holbox in Mexico, which we loved 10 years ago but not at all on our last visit, or Phi Phi in Thailand, completely destroyed by mass tourism).
Special note: we love traveling by train :)
