Question sur mon voyage du 11 juillet au 24 aout. Je part en voyage sac a dos avec ma copine. C'est notre premier voyage. Il s'agit peut-etre de question ridicule, mais j'ai besoin de confirmation.
1. Je part sac a dos donc j'en aurai un gros et un petit. Ou laissons nous notre gros sac en securite afin de pas se faire voller? Y a t'il des cases pour les mettre et barrer tout ca?
2. Notre passe-port. Quel est la meilleur facon de le garder en securite sans toujours se preocuper de savoir s'il est toujours a un bon endroit. Y a t'il un truc de voyageur?
3. Est-ce qu'un budget de 27$Can (19euro) est assez pour 1 journee.
4. Je prevoie faire la Thailand. Je part 1 mois et demi. Devrais-je rester en Thailand et faire le tour ou je devrais toucher a d'autre pays proche? Si oui lesquelles et quoi visiter la bas?

Je ne peux répondre à toutes tes questions, seulement quelques (très peu) indications. Pour moi, la thaïlande est certainement un des endroits les moins chers que je connaisse. On peut manger, à deux un repas complet et fabuleux pour 6 à 8 euros, mais en dehors des trucs pour touristes. je ne sais pas si 20 euros c'est suffisant. je trouve des bungalows à louer pour des sommes allant de 10 à 12, 5 euros/jour avec air conditionné, frigidaire et confort. Je loue des voitures pour 30 euros/jour et elles sont impeccables (mais toujours vérifier.
en ce qui concerne les bagages, je n'ai pas d'autre trucs que de les fermer avec des cadenas, et je les laisse où je dorts. Pour les passeports- et on s'en est fait voler à Bangkok, celui de ma femme, + ses cartes bancaires etc…, ce que je fais toujours, je scanne les papiers importants et je les place sur une adresse mail; de cette façon si j'ai un pépin je peux toujours aller rechercher une copie ce qui simplifie les choses. Si vous vous faites voler vos passeports, aller directement à la police, ils vous délivreront un document rempli de petits spaghettis avec lequel vous pourrez même prendre des avions intérieurs. en ce qui me concerne j'ai même loué une voiture sans pouvoir montrer mon permis de conduire qui faisait partie des objets volés. ce, avec quoi je suis le plus prudent ce sont mes cartes de crédit.

bon je vais essayer de te donner quelques conseils, en ce qui concerne le sac a dos prevoir un sac a dos de taille normale a vec une bonne trousse a pharmacie et tes produits d hygiene et une bonne paire de chaussures si jamais vous partez en trek quelques fringues mais pas trop n oublie pas que tu devras le porter tout le temps et te deplacer avec, de plus tu pourras acheter des fringues sur place, c est vraiment pas cher, et puis un petit sac ou tu mettras tes papiers et ton argent(de preference pas de sac a dos trop accessible pour le vol, plutot un sac en bandouliere place sur le devant, ne jamais te separer de tes papiers ou ton argent car ca n arrive pas qu aux autres.
Ensuite ton budget de 19 euros me parait un peu juste si tu veux visiter ou bouger un peu mais tout est possible se sera a toi de gere ca.
De thailande tu peux facilement aller au laos, au vietnam, au cambodge tu verras tout ca sur place c est tres facile de changer de pays mais il te faudra des visas que tu feras sur place tres facilement mais qui t augmenteront ton budget, disons que le budget que tu as prevu te suffira peut etre pour te loger et te nourrir mais sans extravagances et tout le reste sera en plus:tes trajets tes visites tes visas etc....
Cependant j ai rencontre des gens qui avait des budgets journaliers tres bas aux alentours de6euros par pers et ils y arrivaient comme quoi tout est possible....
En attendant je te souhaite des vacances aussi bonnes que les notres et de toutes facons tu vas t amuser et en prendre plein les yeux....si tu veux des renseignements n hesite pas
Les 2 derniers voyages effectués dans la région (6 semaines) m'ont coûté sur place 1100 euros pour le premier et 850 pour le deuxième.
Dans le premier cas :
De Hanoi à Bangkok par la route (sauf le trajet Danang-Saigon en avion). A peu près 1 mois au Vietnam, quelques jours au Cambodge, quelques jours en Thailande...
Dans le deuxième cas :
Un peu plus de 3 semaines dans le Nord du Vietnam et un peu moins de 3 semaines en Thailande. Il m'a coûté moins cher que le précédant, essentiellement parce que j'ai fréquenté des endroits très peu développés touristiquement, que ce soit au Vietnam ou en Thailande.
Pour répondre à ta question, je dirais qu'avec 25 euros par jour (en moyenne), on devrait s'en sortir.
Nous sommes 2 "frogs" qui part aussi pour la Thailande cet été, en juillet pour 1 mois. Tu es chanceux d'avoir eu des réponses, je crois que je n'ai pas du tout le tour de poser des questions sur ce site 😉 !!!
Du moins, je vais te donner quelques renseignements que j'ai eu de mon cousin qui a été en thailande 3 semaines en 2003 sur différents prix mais les prix doivent avoir changer un peu ....
Je te donne des conseils que tu auras le choix de prendre ou de laisser 😛 ils ont été basés sur le récit de diverses personne ayant visité la Thailande. tu peux allez voir une agence de voyage qui te renseignera beaucoup.
Pour voyager, ton passeport tu le gardes toujours sur toi, en dessous de tes vetements (tsé les p'tites poches de sports qui paraissent pas). si tu laisses ton gros sacs à l'hotel, achete toi un paquet de 5 cadenas (avec la clé que tu gardes avec toi) et barre tes zippers avec. Comme ca, personne ne pourra fouiller dans ton sac quand tu seras parti ;)
A BKK, je me suis fait conseiller le New Siam 2 qui est abordable 20$ pour 2 pour une nuit.
Mais bcp de place demande un tarif pour y entrer
EX: Wat Po .... 20 b temple des singes a Lopburi ... 30 b.
Voici d'autres exemples de prix un bon repas : entre 75 - 80 b. (le même prix qu'une bière) un massage .... 200 b une excursion dans une ferme de papillons, une de poisson avec excursion chez les tribus 800 b (28$ approx.) lavage de 5 1/2 kilos .... 110 b faire deévelopper un film ... 126 b escapade a 4 iles ... 780 b (27 $)Mais ce sont des prix qui date de décembre 2003 ...et j'ignore s'il y a une inflation des prix à cause du tsunami ...
Mais si vous voulez rester dans une partie de la Thailande, ben relax, j'imagine que ca devrait être correct.
Pour notre part, nous prévoyons, un plus gros montant par jour car nous voulons nous payer des chambres plus luxueuse, une fois de temps en temps pour mieux nous reposer.
On s'est fait conseillé PAI qui est un village dans le nord. Y parait que c'est un village d'artiste très animé. Puis en juillet à LOEI, il y a la fête des fantomes, va sur le site de l'office de tourieme de la thailande, c'est très complet.
N'oublie pas ta demande de visa car tu restes plus de 30 jours et ton passeport doit être valide 6 mois après ton retour.

Pour l'hébergement, mon cousin me parlait 300 b (10-12 $ pour 2) a BKK au hotel wild orchid mais chambre très basique (4 murs ... en fait c'est une chambre point) au ême hotel, une chambre plus luxueuse était 650 bath lopburi : asia lopburia hotel 280 b (mais mon cousin me disait, selon lui, qu'il y a peu de chose à faire a lopburi) le resto white house garden ... est très ordinaire (tu comprends ?) à chiang mai, je n'ai pas le cout mais y parait que le royal guesthouse est super (ainsi que ses chocolatines) avec une Poom super organisatrice et sympathique. Sauf que la piscine est gelée car elle est a l'ombre tout le temps. le resto pizza cie est bon. koh lanta le lante beach resort à 500b mais 3 lits simple (ne dort pas collé sur le scring car le lendemain, tu as des piqures) et mettre bcp de creme solaire ... Koh lanta le Deep forest (200 b)
mon cousin m'a conseillé une lampe de poche !!!
et l'agente de voyage nous suggérait de mettre du savon à linge dans des capsules de péliculles et des jeter au fur et a mesure. De même que prendre 2 petits tubes de pates à dents plutot qu'un gros. Elle me conseillait de partir le sac a moitié vide car il est tres tentant de rapporter des choses. Ah oui, vérifier les prix à BKK.
Pour le trajet ... c'est un peu plus complexe et non défini, je viens sur ce site pour avoir des idées de trajet ....
Du moins, Pai, Loei, BKK, Chiang Mai, Koh Lanta font parti du trajet mais dans quel ordre ... fouille moi !!!

Mon grain de sel. Copie de tout (passeport, billet, visas, permis de conduire) au fond du sac fermé avec un cadenas. Les originaux dans un coffre, souvent proposé gratuitement dans les hôtels. Carte de crédit sur soi. 50 US sont un budget confortable pour voyager simplement.

Mais pour tes questions du moment, je te conseille d'avoir chacun un bon sac à dos avec lequel vous êtes à l'aise et confo. Aussi nous avions un sac pour le kodak, dans lequel nous avons mis nos passeports, notre argent, nos cartes, tout koi...tout ca dans une pochette la que tu mets en dessous des vêtements...mais on la jamais mis en dessous de nos vêtements, trop gossant et de toute facon on n'a jamais eu peur de se faire voler...Nous on gardait toujours notre argent, nos cartes de céridt, débit, passeport, etc, etc. Dans un petit sac avec le kodak numér. avec nous en TOUT Temps! Pour le reste he bien c'est des vêtements et nos masques et tubas pour faire de l'apnée (n'oubliez surtut pas de vous apporter ca, un must!), dans la chambre d'hotel!
Pour les sacs à dos..tu parles de où? Dans vottre chambre d'hotel? dans les bus, dans les trains?
Dans les chambres dépendamment du type d'hotel c'est pratiquement toujours assez safe, on s'est rien fait voler. Mais pour les trains et les bus faut vraiment faire gafffe aux 2 millions d'arrêt de train et d'autobus surtout les bagages en dessous des bus, faut tcheker les gens qui sortent du bus avant vous afihn qu'ils ne partent pas avec vos affaires hehehe. Sinon en train... faut carrément les avoir avec vous et ne pas fermer l'oeil, ni dormir tous les 2. toujours quelqu'un pour les surveiller en tout temps, sinon hop byby bagages! Aussi, on s'est fait dire de surveiller notre guide de voyage Lonely Planet, car apparemment ils sont populaires pour les voleurs!

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.

I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.

For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home

I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
