Hi Botswana lovers! Has anyone recently crossed the Third Bridge coming from North Gate? What’s the bridge like? And is North Gate open? Thanks in advance! Patricia

Hello Patriciamari,
I was at Third Bridge in April and spent 2 nights at the campsite. After that, I crossed the bridge to continue my journey to Khwai. I was driving a Hilux 4x4 bushcamper and had no problem crossing the bridge. Several vehicles had crossed before me as well.
I don’t quite understand your question about North Gate. North Gate is an entrance/exit to the Moremi Reserve, so yes, it’s open. Does this answer your question?
Safe travels and happy trip planning! Cheers, Nicole

Thanks Nicole for the clarification. We went there in November 2022, and the North Gate was closed for construction. We had to enter Moremi through the South Gate, and the Third Bridge was in really bad shape—impassable. So thanks for the more recent updates! Patricia

Thanks Nicole for this info.
We’re actually leaving in less than a month and we’ve planned the same itinerary: South Gate – Third Bridge and Khwai via Xakanaxa since we want to take the northern track if it’s still okay.
We’d like to know if we can handle the formalities, especially paying the entrance fees, on-site.
I can only confirm that bookings in the park need to be made *very* early—it was already fully booked in January for a trip planned in July. We were lucky, though, at one of the rare campsites where a cabin was available for just one night...
So we’re going to enjoy it!
Best to you all,
Ortense

Hi Ortense,
Yes, I paid all the park entrance fees at the gate by credit card. You show your campsite reservation and pay the entrance fee for the number of days you’ll be in the park.
That said, it’s a good idea to have some cash on hand in case the card machines go down.
Wishing you a fantastic trip and lots of amazing discoveries! Nicole
