je m'apprête à faire une escapade dans le sud de la France en Moto, , suivre la côte atlantique, traversé les Pyrénées, suivre la côte Méditerranéenne, et traverser les Alpes, cela me permettrait d'alterner les paysages, et les climats,
Toute fois j'aurais aimé partir la deuxieme semaine de Juillet, et je m'appercoit que cela tombe un peu prés au mêmes dates que le Tour de France , je ne sais pas quel impact cela peut avoir, je pense pouvoir me caller juste avant son passage ou aprés, mais je me demande si à cette occasion les cols sont submérgé par des touristes, des camions ravitailleurs, ect une semaine en avance, les routes de passages fermées, ou en traveaux, ect. Car si c'est pour se retrouver dans un foul , c'est même pas la peine, l'idée etait de partir faire du bivouac dans la nature, quelques campings, sur la route, mais pouvoir se detacher, ou du moins alterner, un peu de solitude dans la montagne avec un peu de compagnie ( pas trop non plus ) sur les plages . Je pu voir l'impact du tour de France à Paris , en fait il n'est pas si encombrant que ca, mais la ville est grande et peut être tout l'impact se dissimule un peu.

Qu'en est il de la peinture sur la chaussé qu'on voit souvent à la télé, est elle barbouillé à la dernière minute?
Sinon peut être vous auriez quelques conseils à me donner par rapport à l'équipement, surtout aux habits, je ne sais pas quelles peuvent être les variations de températures, surtout en montagne, faut il vraiment prendre les habits "hivers" pour la traversée des Alpes, ou une "couche" sous le jean et le blouson suffit.
Concernant les Alpes, la route n'est coupée que le jour même du Tour de France donc aucun problème les jours d'avant et d'après. Les spectateurs n'envahissent les cols que la veille du passage. 😉
En ce qui concerne les habits, il vaut mieux prendre une couche à enfiler facilement lors de la montée de certains cols mais de là à prendre des vêtements d'hiver, c'est pour moi du superflus. Mais attention quand même, exceptionnellement il peut neiger l'été en montagne !
Si tu cherches un itinéraire sympa pour les Alpes, je te conseille la route des grandes alpes avec un petit détour (30 minutes de route) par le col du Mont Cenis, à proximité du col de l'Iseran, en Savoie.
Nous habitons aux alentours de Tarbes, et il est vrai que le tour de France ici est très présent!!!!Parfois un peu trop.......Je peux t'assurer qu'il vaut mieux le faire en moto car il y a vraiment beaucoup de monde (camping car de tous les pays routes barrées et cols fermés.)Si tu veux vraiment la tranquilité il vaut mieux choisir un autre moment.Pour ce qui est de l'habillement il vaut mieux prévoir quelque chose de chaud, car la difference de température et de temps est parfois radical, un exemple:Dimanche 22 mai 2011 nous sommes monté au col du Tourmalet, il faisait du brouillard et froid alors qu'en bas on avait soleil et chaleur....Si tu d'autres renseignements n'hésite pas à me contacter.

Merci pour vos réponses, malheureusement je ne pense pas pouvoir changer beaucoup les dates,
j'ai un peu recalé mon voyage, et finalement je pense me retrouver dans e Pyrénées, le 11, 12, 13 ( le tour arrive le 14, 15, 16), ensuite pour la grande route des Alpes que je pensais emprunter , j'ai pensais arriver le 16, 17, 18, les cyclistes arrivent le 19. En gros j'ai trois jours d'avance, :( pas super mais faudra faire avec). J'ai pensé aussi a faire mon parcours à l'envers, pour n'avoir qu'une rencontre avec les cyclistes, mais n'ayant pas fais de vrai montagne en moto, je crois qu'il serait plus prudent d'essayer d'abord les Pyrénées, et si tout se passe bien faire la route des Alpes.
D'ailleurs est ce que trois jours pour la traversée des Pyrénées, et des la Grande route des Alpes ( trois jours chaque traversée bien entendu ) est un temps correcte, ou c'est moi qui a un appétit trop grand. Sur la carte tout sa parait bien simple, mais en réalité c'est souvent bien plus compliquée.
De plus si vous avez des conseils pour la route des Pyrénées, je suis preneur, je me demande si je fais la totalité sur le territoire français, ou je passe de temps en temps du côté espagnol.
hum, je te crois sur parole, je ne sais pas combien je tiendrais, et si ma SDS tiendras longtemps, je laisse les Alpes pour la fin, pour qu'on puisse se désister au cas ou les Pyrénées, nous aurons déjà pleinement satisfaits.

Trois jours pour la route des grandes alpes ça me paraît très short, surtout si tu fais des haltes ! 😛

Faut être bien couvert, car le Galibier sous la pluie, ça peut descendre à 2-3°C en plein été, pour l'Iseran, n'en parlons pas. prévoir des sous gants en soie pour mettre sous les mitaines en cas de froid et une cape de pluie ainsi que des vêtements chauds

me disant que 2 - 3 heures de route le mâtiné, et de même dans l'après midi, - la soirée, permettrait d'y faire du chemin, après n'ayant jamais fait de la grande montagne en moto, peut être 3 heures de route dans une journée c'est peut être déjà assez fatiguant.
en fait, durant nos traversées des massifs montagneux en vélo lorsque nous discutions avec des motards ils faisaient sensiblement la même distance que nous en vélo, car durant les montées nous avions largement le temps de profiter du paysage, alors qu'en moto, il faut s'arrêter et, même s'il faut moins de place qu'une voiture, il n'y a pas toujours la place nécessaire pour se garer à l'endroit voulu. Il faut donc rechercher un parking puis redescendre à pied.
Après, c'est vrai qu'on a croisé pas mal de motards qui y allaient la poignée dans le coin, dans ce cas, c'est vrai que tu peux en faire du kilométrage.
Et puis, la moto pouvant être garée et avec l'antivol, contrairement à nos vélos, vous pouvez aussi décider de faire un peu de marche sur certains sentiers qui partent de la route. Il y en a un certain nombre qui sont très intéressants et qui offrent une autre vue de la montagne (souvent même plus haut que les cols routiers)

ton avis est intéressant, dans mon cas il n'est pas question de faire la course, un par ce que j'ai pas l'expérience, deux parce que c'est pas le but, étant donnée la vitesse sensiblement plus importante que sur le vélo même étant basse , les épingles nécessitent une intention sans faille qui comme tu dis ne permet pas apprécier la montagne comme à pied ou à vélo, toute fois cela permet de parcourir une distance peut être plus importante, la fatigue n 'étant pas la même.
mais du fait que vous pouvez garer votre moto en étant sur de la retrouver, contrairement à nous en vélo, vous pouvez vous permettre quelques petites incartades au sein de la montagne.
Et les cols, en général, on les descend plus vite en vélo qu'en voiture ou moto (du moins quand les virages sont nombreux)

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
