Je prépare un séjour de 10 à 15 jours en Espagne dans le quart nord ouest .Je voudrais séjourner en ville mais pas dans une trop grande ville , avec un beau centre historique .J'ai adoré Salamanque même sous la neige .
Ce séjour aura lieu début mars.
Quelle ville me conseillez-vous et si vous avez des conseils d'hébergement (en location) et des idées sur la météo , ça m'intéresse aussi.
Bonjour, en août 2009, au nord -ouest de l'Espagne, sur toute la zone côtière, le temps était vraiment frais. Dans l'auto, j'avais parfois l'impression que ma clim' s'était bloquée! Comme belle ville, évidemment Santiago de Compostelle. Oviedo correspond peut-être à ce que tu cherches, ville moyenne, calme avec un petit mais joli centre historique ( pas aussi beau, ni aussi impressionnant que Salamanca). C"est la ville du cidre, mais un cidre rustique (peut-être comme avant en Bretagne profonde?), presque amer, que j'ai adoré et qui coule à flots dans les sidrerias
Moi j'ai beaucoup apprécié Oviedo, très jolie ville. J'ai raconté ma balade dans cette ville sur mon blog, si ça peut te donner une idée...
Il y a tout pour passer un bon moment dans cette ville : un joli centre, du cidre, et des monuments très intéressants un peu en extérieur (Mont Naranco) si l'on est amateur d'art et de patrimoine. En tout cas, malgré la brieveté de mon séjour là-bas, ce fut un des temps forts de mon voyage en Espagne.

J'ai parcouru ton blog et j'y reviendrais pour les autres villes , notamment Bilbao dont j'avais un très mauvais souvenir à cause d'une météo exécrable en plein été.
Salut, il me semble qu'une voiture est indispensable: sur tout le long la côte, y'a de jolis villages, par ex. sur la côte à l'ouest de Santiago , Camarinas (le cimetière des Anglais) et à côté, Muxia (santuario de nostra senora de Barca : un point de vue superbe, pour quelqu'un qui habite à Grenoble, mais ça ressemble pas mal à la Bretagne)😉! Un avantage, les hôtels ne sont pas très chers (40 euros). Les températures et la météo en mars??? Au mois d'août, c'était un peu juste...
C'est une question que je n'avais pas encore posée , la voiture.J'ai l'impression que ça pourrait nous coûter beaucoup moins cher de descendre en voiture (à 3 )plutôt que prendre l'avion et louer une voiture.A moins d'une super promo de Ryanair ou autre .
Et les villes de l'intérieur ?
Bonjour, y'a Burgos (je connais pas). C'est mieux en voiture pour aller dans les villages. Le problème, traverser en 10 jours jusqu'à Santiago, c'est très loin! De Grenoble ou de Bretagne, c'est kif-kif ...

Difficile de "conseiller" un endroit plutôt qu'un autre !!
D'autant que manifestement tu as apprécié le séjour à Salamanca, et qu'il n'y a pas l'équivalent dans la région ou tu voudras aller.
D'abord la météo ... fin février/début mars, tu peux compter à 90% sur un temps équivalent à ta Bretagne pour la bande côtière et à du froid à l'intérieur.
Autre différence, il n'y a pas de ville universitaire aussi importante que Salamanca, donc l'ambiance est totalement différente.
Si la météo est clémente ... je dis bien si... je choisirais Vitoria (Bilbao moins d'une heure, Logroño une heure, Burgos 1h15, la Rioja à portée de cailloux avec tous ses petits villages, ses bodegas et sa gastronomie, Pamplona une heure ...)
Je ne suis pas impartial en choisissant cette ville, j'y ai vécu et j'y ai ma cuadrilla 😇

Mis à part Bilbao et Santiago, et un petit peu Santander tu trouveras essentiellement des vols intérieurs vers Madrid pour la plupart et pas grand chose vers la France.

A ma connaissance il n'y a pas de vols directs Bilbao - Paris.
Iberia propose des Bilbao - Madrid - Paris (trés chers)
Vueling propose des Bilbao - Barcelone - Paris (jamais fait)
Je sais que Ryanair a une escale à Santander, mais y-a-t-il une liaison avec Paris/Beauvais ???
Il faudrait regarder pour Santiago, mais je pense que pour cet aéroport il s'agit essentiellement de charters afrêtés en saison pour les pélérinages.
Quand à Nantes ... je pense que tu peux économiser de l'énergie en ne cherchant pas 😕

Effectivement il y a possibilité de faire Paris - Santiago avec Vueling.
Mais ... celà impose une escale d'une nuit aussi bien à l'aller qu'au retour, et vu les horaires des vols, c'est sur les bancs de l'aéroport del Prats à coup sûr.
Prix de l'aller/retour environ 150 Euros.
Pour l'instant , je retiens Paris Bilbao , il y a plusieurs possibilités et des vols réguliers .Et je regarderai même le train , un copain l'a fait .Et avec le train , départ de Dinan........
Vols directs depuis Paris (ou Paris-Beauvais): Bilbao / Asturies / Santander / Vigo / Santiago.

Personne n'a parlé de la Corogne... Elle vaut plutôt le coup d'oeil.
C'est une ville avec un grand quartier 19e et un petit centre ancien, animée (ville étudiante, donc nombreux bars et clubs, un casino), avec une ambiance maritime qui n'est pas trop pesante (au centre il n'y a que des marinas, et l'arrivée des paquebots, le port industriel est plus éloigné), une grande plage urbaine et un phare classé patrimoine de l'humanité. C'est aussi une ville plutôt riche (banques, port, groupe Inditex).
Et comme en général dans le quart Nord Ouest c'est tranquille : pas de vols en tous genres ou de pièges à touristes et les gens sont sympas.
En plus la bière locale est très bonne! Ce qui n'est pas fréquent en Espagne.
J'ai bien aimé La Corogne, même si je n'y suis passé que trop rapidement. Sinon, si vous avez le choix entre Santander et Oviedo, à mon avis il vaut mieux choisir Oviedo, malgré l'absence de mer.

Oviedo est une ville sympa, par contre on en fait vite le tour.
Le principal intérêt de la région reste la côte, mais à la période envisagée par notre ami, si les paysages seront superbes, par contre l'animation sera casi-nulle.
L'arrière pays d'Oviedo est trés accidenté, et toujours en cette saison, les routes vers l'intérieur de la région sont souvent difficiles à pratiquer en raison des conditions météos. Il y neige régulièrement, jusqu'au mois d'avril.
Si on aime le fromage et le cidre, Oviedo est un délice. Le soir, entre copains, il est habituel de commander une "tabla de quesos con cidra". On partage alors des sortes de planches à découper, garnies de nombreux fromages, le tout arrosé au cidre local, fruité mais trés sec.
Dans la région ils font également une sorte de cassoulet, mais s'il y a bien les haricots, la viande est remplacée par des coquillages, du crabe et du poisson, un vrai délice .... bon appétit !! 😄
En ce moment la région est secouée par une forte crise sociale, menée essentiellement par les mineurs, car c'est la dernière région d'Espagne ou l'activité minière est encore importante.
Je prends bonne note de la possibilité de neige .Justement , il avait neigé quand j'étais à Salamanque.
Et si j'y vais en voiture , je pourrais être gênée par la neige sur le trajet aller retour ou c'est seulement sur le réseau secondaire?
Les restrictions dues à la neige sont rarement dans la bande côtière, entre sierra et océan.
Mais, dés que l'on va vers l'intérieur, c'est assez fréquent.
Les grands axes sont vite dégagés, mais pour le réseau secondaire c'est plus aléatoire.
Si tu regardes le relief, tu te rendras compte que dans ce quart nord ouest, c'est assez accidenté, par exemple pour aller de Santander à Burgos, la route grimpe à plus de 1000m à seulement 40kms de la côte. Toujours au départ de Santander, à 50kms à peine, il y a une station de ski (surtout de fond) à Reinosa.
La sierra forme une ligne de +/- 2000m sur pratiquemment toute la longueur de la côte.
Une fois passée cette barrière naturelle on se trouve dans les plaines de Castilla y Leon, celles que tu connais du côté de Salamanca.
Trop tard pour moi .....mais ça peut intéresser quelqu'un d'autre.
Face à la progression de son activité sur l’Espagne, tant en passagers qu’en fret, Brittany Ferries a annoncé aujouRd'hui qu’elle allait ouvrir en avril 2011 une nouvelle liaison deux fois par semaine entre Portsmouth et Bilbao.
L’armement breton qui reprend ainsi la place laissée vacante par la compagnie britannique P&O a choisi d’affecter pleinement sur ses lignes d’Espagne Le Cap Finistère, son nouveau navire acheté d’occasion à la compagnie grecque Attica. Ce ferry peut transporter 1.500 passagers, 110 camions et 85 voitures.
Une fois par semaine, le Cap Finistère fera escale à Roscoff (29). Cette nouvelle option permettra d’effectuer la route directe Roscoff-Espagne sans passer par Plymouth, ce qui aura pour effet de réduire le temps de traversée de moitié. A compter du mois d’avril 2011, Brittany Ferries proposera donc au total six allers-retours entre la Grande-Bretagne et l’Espagne.(Le Télégramme)
La possibilité de liaison maritime existe déjà, entre Nantes/St Nazaire et Gijon, peut être n'as tu pas fait attention à ces quelques lignes dans une de mes réponses précédentes :

Pour la ligne SAINT-NAZAIRE/GIJON C'est un départ de SAINT-NAZAIRE LUNDI/MERCREDI/VENDREDI à 21H00 - Voir le site de LD LINES -Pour l'instant, en passant sur le Pont de Saint-Nazaire/Saint-Brévin à l'embarquement on voit malheureusement (pour l'armateur) plus de voitures que de camions...En 2011 un accés au Portugal via VIGO sera possible depuis SAINT-NAZAIRE. Des circuits en embarquant sur un FERRY en moto ou voiture à partir du Sud Bretagne c'est nouveau... Voilà ce qui m'intéresse c'est de partir le soir même de sa journèe de travail et d'être en Espagne (en 2011 aussi au Portugal) aprés une mini croisière d'une nuit. Pour le retour c'est un départ le dimanche aprés midi en Espagne et arrivée le lundi matin à 6 h00 à Saint-Nazaire. Pas de perte de temps : on navigue la nuit !!!. Ayant en projet de prendre cette nouvelle ligne, merci à ceux qui feront part de leur expérience pour valider l'idée de partir dans le nord de l' Espagne pour une semaine de cette facon. Les idées de circuits d'une semaine dans cette région sont les bienvenus.

Comme promis , je reviens sur le forum après avoir testé le ferry St-Nazaire Gijon.
J'ai été enchantée par les Asturies .Le port du Musel où arrive le ferry est très facile d'accès , y compris à pied , depuis la ville de Gijon .
J'ai été moins enchantée par le voyage .Quelques heures de sommeil seulement pour beaucoup de passagers .Le bateau bouge , les portes tapent et au retour , on a pris des médicaments pour le mal de mer , c'était mieux.Le personnel est serviable , par contre .Mais , ça vaut le coup.
Au retour , il est arrivé une heure plus tard qu'indiqué à la réservation .Amusant , le ferry transportait une centaine de voitures Renault neuves d'Espagne vers la France.
Et pourquoi pas Santander ? C'est une ville active avec une baie magnifique où il est facile de rayonner dans toute la région. On y mange bien et la nature y est également splendide !
Trop tard pour Santander parce que je suis revenue .
Finalement , j'ai séjourné à Villaviciosa , 26 km de Gijon .Et bien sur , je suis allée faire un tour à Oviedo qui m'a beaucoup plu.Gijon est très sympa aussi , entre la mer et le carnaval , on ne s'y est pas ennuyé.Des milliers de gens de tous âges sont dans la rue déguisés .
Le pire temps le jour de notre arrivée , 11 dgrés et un peu de pluie fine .
Jusqu'à 19 degrés (d'après la voiture) .Après avoir garé notre véhicule , une journée en plein soleil , nous avons mis la clim ......
En moyenne , 14 degrés l'après midi , soleil présent tous les jours de près ou de loin (sauf le premier jour).Sur la côte , il ne gèle jamais , c'est pourquoi les jardins sont pleins de citronniers et d'orangers.
Je veux bien des infos sur Santander parce que je retourne à Gijon en mai et ce n'est qu'à 180 km.
Concernant Santander, il faut voir le vieux centre et y savourer l'atmosphère. La plage d'El Sardinero est aussi très belle même si éloignée du centre. A proximité, il y a à la presqu'île de la Magdelana qui offre une belle promenade et de beaux points de vue. A quelques kms de Santander, le parc naturel de Cabarceno est une sortie familiale très sympa.
Santander permet de rayonner dans toute la Cantabrie, région magnifique. Cela dit, nous n'avions pas séjourné dans cette ville et avions privilégié un hébergement dans une ville plus calme à Suances où la grande plage est très belle. Il y a d'autres villes où il fait bon séjourner en Cantabrie et qui sont plus proches de Gijon : Comillas ou Santilla del Mar par exemple.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...
