Hi there,
We’re planning our trip and want to spend 3 MONTHS in Madagascar, but we’re getting really conflicting info about visas.
Apparently, it’s not possible to get one at the airport.
We contacted the consulate in Marseille… and they don’t know either.
The phone number for the embassy in Paris is no longer in service…
Anyway… help!
If anyone’s gotten a 3-month visa, could you shed some light on this for us?
Thanks so much.

hi
for the three-month visa, lots of people here have confirmed it’s possible at the airport, so I’m taking their word for it
personally, I got a two-month visa at the airport in late September 2025 with the option to extend for one more month at a police station in a major city—no problem, and I left after two months
for the visa at the airport, it’s super simple: you pay 40 € for two months
and fill out the form
Madagascar consulates and embassies in France are a nightmare, according to tons of Malagasy people I know

Hi 🙂 Took the flight on October 10, 2025 at 3 AM arriving from Nairobi with a 90-day visa (Oct 10, 25 / Jan 7, 26) for 50 € 🙂 Return flight on December 16 🙂
Hi,
Thanks for the info. We should be arriving from France via Addis Ababa. This morning we went to a travel agency... they said it’s not possible to get a 3-month visa at the airport... the only solution is an application, but we’d have to send our passport, which is out of the question for us. We might end up going for just 2 months.

Hi there,
As a Belgian, I get my 3-month visa at the Madagascar embassy in Brussels. I’ve never had any issues.
However, according to the latest info, it’s true that you can’t get the 3-month visa directly at the airport. It’s a 2-month visa that you can extend by one month at a police station in a major city.
Have a great trip to Madagascar!
Thierry
Hi,
In Tulear, you can apply for your third month of visa if you'd like. My partner got hers in this city back in 2022.
Safe travels.
