Je viens de passer un mois en Algérie grâce à un certificat d'hébergement dans le nord (Skikda).
Je voulais rester 3 mois mais malgré mon certificat on me les a refusés.
De retour en France j'ai mis toute mon énergie pour obtenir un nouveau visa.
Pour information aucun visa n'est délivrés pour le sud (qui est ma destination finale) et le sud commence très au nord...
Mon certificat pour El Oued a été refusé. C'est le désert.
La dame du consulat m'a suggérer de "faire comme tout le monde" c'est à dire de faire une réservation d'hôtel à Alger par exemple... Bref c'est ce que j'ai fait même si je ne comprends pas la logique puisque la résa ne pouvait porter sur les 2 mois que je demandais donc entre les deux résas (1 semaine au début une semaine à la fin) on ne peut pas prouver de ce que l'on fait sur place.
Bon, bref, je retourne voir la dame mais là encore un problème car j'ai indiqué "sans emploi" sur le formulaire et par conséquent mes revenus paraissent trop faibles pour que je reste 2 mois en Algérie(!), là je ris parce que la vie est bien moins chère pour nous en Algérie qu'en France. Mais en fait tout est fait pour nous décourager.
En revanche j'ai eu droit à un visa à entrées multiples. Du coup j'aimerais partager avec des personnes qui ont pratiqué ce système qui m'a été implicitement indiqué par la dame...
On sort en Tunisie par exemple, on va dans une administration (laquelle ?) et on obtient un nouveau visa pour revenir en Algérie... ?
Il y a aussi la solution d'aller à l'ambassade d'Alger demander une prolongation ?

Un visa à sorties multiples te permet durant la durée totale de ton visa de sortir de l'Algérie, et d'y revenir.
On t'a donné combien de mois ?
Par ex sur 3 mois de visa, si tu veux rentrer en France 2 semaines et repartir en Algérie 3 semaines, puis 3 semaines en France, retour en Algérie 4 semaines, etc...
C'est plus souple selon ce que tu veux faire...
Je suis très étonnée pour le visa refusé pour le sud, tout dépend de ton certificat (qui te reçois...). Il y a des touristes qui partent pour le sud actuellement mais pris en charge par une agence...
Il n'y aucun visa donné pour le sud. Excepté peut-être si tu passes deux jours pour faire un truc encadré du début j'usqu'à la fin.
D'autre part, il y a deux choses différentes :
1/ l'autorisation de séjour (pas plus de 30j pour les étrangers) c'est ce que j'ai obtenu après moult négos
2/ la durée du visa (la dernière fois on m'a donné 2 mois)
Du coup je me demandais si on pouvait avant la fin des 30j aller en Tunisie pour avoir un rab d'autorisation de séjour.
Il faut savoir que tout cela change tout le temps. Pour El Oued l'année dernière pour un français cela avait marché sans problème.
En ce moment apparemment c'est plus difficile.

Non le fait de sortir vers la Tunisie et de revenir, ne change en rien la durée totale du visa obtenu !
Par ailleurs, pour avoir vécu dans le sud (j'y vais encore souvent, mais pour l'instant je n'y vis plus pour raisons de santé et familiales, j'ai également de la famille sur place), et en connaissant très bien le fonctionnement de l'Etat, le rôle des assoc et surtout les projets venus de l'extérieur, désolée mais tu peux oublier ton projet perso... tu pourrais toujours donner un coup de main à une assoc algérienne locale, mais toi en tant qu'étrangère c'est impossible ! C'est considéré comme de l'ingérence...
Tu n'auras pas d'invitation (prise en charge par une certificat d'hébergement) d'une assoc algérienne, si tu n'es pas toi-même représentante d'une assoc étrangère reconnue en Algérie ! Effectivement, personne ne se lancera là-dedans pour éviter tout problème, complications, contrôles, etc !
Tu as quel type de projet ? Quel secteur d'activité ?
Voilà, tu pourrais t'y rendre de temps en temps selon visa, mais attention si localement, on te détecte voulant faire des choses, on te signalera en wilaya et les prochains visas pourraient être compromis ! Sois discrète et n'en fais pas trop...
Oui je sais que cela va être dur mais je ne vais pas renoncer tout de suite (d'ailleurs je suis en plein accord avec ta signature)

je fais une recherche sur les systèmes de récupération et de partage de l'eau avec une organisation sociale (autogestion) .
la réparation d'un foggara (oui je sais c'est très ambitieux)

et pour info l'ancien ambassadeur d’Algérie a été demis de ses fonctions pour dysfonctionnement sur l'attribution des visas.
donc le nouvel ambassadeur fraichement nommé a décidé de serrer les vis, personnellement j'aurais fais la même
A propos de dysfonctionnement je crois bien que cela n'a pas changer... Alors si on voulait vraiment changer les choses pourquoi pas faire subir les mêmes brimades à Total qui exploite l’Algérie et aux entreprises chinoises qui l'envahissent (grâce à des accords bilatéraux)

La restauration des fogaras c'est déjà un grand chantier au Sahara, depuis des années en collaboration avec l'Unesco, l'UE, des fonds européens etc...
A Timimoun, c'est entre les mains de l'agence de Bassin Hydrographique Sahara, avec le Ministère de l'Environnement et l'Agence Hydraulique de Wilaya...
Le problème de la palmeraie de Timimoun qui est en plein déclin ce sont des grands forages d'eau qui puisent tout...
Tu ne peux pas acheter un terrain en Algérie, et y ériger un projet, tu n'es que touriste...
Tu te révoltes sur ce qui se passe au Sahara (pétrole, gaz & C°), tu peux l'être en tes 4 murs mais jamais en public en Algérie ni en présence d'algériens... d'une part ce sont de grands employeurs, d'autre part, c'est l'Etat algérien qui est associé dans toutes les exploitations avec toutes les sociétés... il serait vraiment dommage que par une ingérence (considérée comme telle...) que ton visa ne soit plus délivré dans l'avenir...

Mon projet est très modeste et je ne demande rien. On m'a promis de me mettre à dispo un petit jardin et je ne veux pas d'argent. Je me fond dans le paysage :=) Je veux vivre pauvrement avec les pauvres qui sont en fait des savants. Etudier les pratiques et les savoirs en voie de disparition.
J'ai aussi une publication en perspective sur l'eau (qui est mon sujet d'étude depuis plusieurs années)
La seule chose que je demande c'est un visa plus long.
J'irais voir le consul dans ma ville.

Tu peux passer du temps localement pendant la durée d'un visa de tourisme mais au-delà il faut devenir résidente et ce n'est pas gagné non plus ! Dans ce cas, il faut avoir un projet d'investissement ou un contrat de travail.... ce qui n'est pas ton cas il me semble... avec enquêtes, etc par la Wilaya...
Le consul d'Algérie dont tu dépends n'est pas décisionnaire pour l'attribution des visas, c'est Alger !
Pour prolonger un visa touristique, il faut justifier les raisons et cela ne peut pas être renouvelable... malheureusement...
Je connais très bien la wilaya de Ghardaia et d'Adrar... les foggaras se trouvent dans toutes les oasis, et je connais particulièrement bien celle de Tamentit & de Beni Isguen, ainsi que quelques-unes de Timimoun et environs.

Désolée on ne peut pas proposer une solution quand on se heurte aux conditions algériennes... la situation serait bien différente en Tunisie ou le Maroc, mais l'Algérie est tout à fait à part !
Je la pratique depuis les années 2000, j'y ai de la famille, des amis, j'y ai vécu plusieurs années en continue (au Sahara), désormais en alternance (pour le moment)... ma fille est algérienne donc voilà...
Ce n'est pas du tout pour te décourager, mais pourquoi ne pas t'expliquer la réalité ???? Je n'ai jamais été découragée, mais je me pliais aux exigences sur le terrain... et plusieurs projets ont capotés parce qu'on n'en voulait pas ! Et quand ils n'en veulent pas, ce n'est pas la peine d'insister... et si on veut en faire un peu trop, la porte est ouverte... (j'ai connu français qui nous avaient contactés pour des actions auprès de la population, des assocs locales et au bout de quelques temps, nous avons appris qu'ils étaient reparties assez vite, un peu "poussés"...
Ce n'est pas de ma faute, je ne peux pas t'inventer des moyens....

Cc si tu connais des gens ou realiser ton projet qu il te fasse une attestation d hebergement avec demande un visa 30 jour. Sur ses 30 jours pars que 28 jours cela prouvera au consulat que tu es serieuse. Avant de rentre re demande que quelqun te fait une attestation d hebergement de 6 mois. Quand tu es en france va au consulat demande visa touristique. A chaque fois fait des demande de visa touristique.. le premier de 30 jour avec 1 entree et une sortie. Pour les autres visa touristique avec entree et sorties multiples. Lorsque ton premier visa de 30 jour a ete delivrer par le consulat il n on pas le droit de te refusé les autres c est un droit. Moi jai fais comme sa et maintenant jai le droit a des visa de un an avec entré sortie multiple voila. C est sur si tu prend un hotel eux dans leur tete ils vont avoir peur pour toi. Alor visa touristique avec attestation d hebergement meme si tu es au chomage sa passe. Moi jai fais comme sa. Jai jamais ete bloquer. Voila

I have two questions about applying for a Non-Immigrant O Visa at the Thai embassy in France for someone over 50:
- - Do I need to provide the address(es) of stay in Thailand (hotels, staying with a Thai friend)?
- - Financial proof: Is a retirement statement showing over 2,000 € per month sufficient, or are bank statements also required?
I know there’s already a lot of information about the visa requirements on the embassy’s website, but from my experience—having dealt with embassies in other countries in previous years—I know that the information is sometimes (!) incomplete or inconsistent. I’m planning a trip to Laos from France with a transit through Thailand involving 2 entries. I might spend up to 7 days max in Thailand (round trip).
The flight I’ve spotted: arrival at BKK and return to France 31 days later.
With the new regulations/visa:
"Starting September 15, 2026, French nationals holding an ordinary passport will be able to stay in Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism purposes only, down from the previous 60 days."
How do you think the counting is done?
- Number of days spent in Thai territory?
- Entry and exit dates: number of days between the two?
I’m leaning toward the first option, but to avoid any administrative hassles with Thailand (fines, etc.) and before booking my ticket, your input would really help.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

There are rumors going around about the ETA: it must absolutely be on your smartphone in the "ETA" app.
Paper documents might not be accepted.

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.
