Car, de mémoire, lorsque je suis allée me plaindre (par écrit, et avec justificatifs à l'appui) au Consulat d'Iran à Paris, on m'a dit que ne n'était pas une agence enregistrée en Iran et qu'elle agissait de l'étranger (G-B je pense...), d'où les nombreuses escroqueries... (un certain nombre répertoriées aussi sur le forum du Lonely Planet anglophone)
Et en avril, j'ai rencontré au Kurdistan tout un groupe d'Italiens arrivés sur Turkish via Tabriz (mais je ne sais s'ils étaient en VOA), moi-même étant arrivée via Mashad (VOA obtenu en qq 30 mn, 50 euros + 15 USD d'assurance)
je suis arrivé à IKA en aout 2012, reparti en septembre.
Arrivée vers minuit, 1/2h et 50 euros + tard, visa ok.
Je ne vois pas de raison pour que les élections ai changé quoi que ce soit à tout ca... mais ca n'est que mon avis.
Au passage, la procédure d'obtention du visa à l'ambassade d'Iran à Paris est également efficace et rapide (pour y aller, mieux vaut arriver dès l'ouverture).

Le numéro d'autorisation et la réservation d'hôtel préalables sont-ils obligatoires ?
Sur le net je trouve que ce n'est pas demandé, en revanche une dame (très gentille) de l'office de tourisme que j'ai eu par téléphone m'a donné le contact d'une agence sur place à Téhéran, qui eux, m'indiquent que ce numéro est requis.
Je ne sais pas ce qu'est le numero d'autorisation, je n'en ai pas eu besoin.
Par contre pour le VOA, une confirmation de resa d’hôtel pour la 1ere nuit est demandée et ils vérifient.
Merci, je vais essayer de réserver directement avec un hôtel, même s'il est impossible de réserver à distance.
Avez-vous un bon plan à partager à ce sujet ?
Pour Turkish, que j'ai pris de Paris jusqu'à Mashad avec VOA à l'arrivée, pas de pbs : ils me l'avaient confirmé par tel (j'avais appelé leur call center pour vérifier), et à l'embarquement ma réponse "VOA à l'arrivée" leur a suffit
Après avoir lu rapidement sur un forum un avis positif sur Iranianvisa.com, j'ai envoyé la semaine dernière via leur site les formulaires de demande de n° d'autorisation pour toute ma famille (5 en tout). Ayant reçu un mail de relance de paiement un peu pressant (voir ci-dessous) à la place d'une réponse à un mail dans lequel je posai plusieurs questions pratiques, j'ai rapidement cherché des infos plus précises sur cette agence et trouvé le récit de votre mésaventure sur le forum.
Avec la connaissance que vous avez de cette agence, quel risque pensez vous que je prenne en ne répondant pas à leur demande de paiement? (sachant que via le formulaire on est sensé avoir accepté les conditions de paiement)

Aïe !!! Vous voilà embarqués dans une difficile et délicate situation !!
Car ce sont des escrocs, mais qui en escrocs efficaces fournissent de temps en temps une réponse effective/ le n° MFA demandé, faute de quoi ils auraient complètement disparu du circuit...
Et je vois aussi que leurs méthodes, basées sur la menace directe ou indirecte, et qui se fera de plus en plus pressante, sont restées les mêmes, malgré la floppée de post sur des sites de voyageurs etc... Je ne sais pas quelle est leur capacité de nuisance, donc d'intervention auprès du MFA pour vous "black-lister" ou équivalent, mais je doute qu'elle soit réelle (et je doute qu'ils aient entamé les formalités avant réception du paiement).
Donc, si vous n'avez pas encore réservé vos billets d'avion etc., et donc pouvez changer de programme et de planning, peut-être pouvez-vous leur envoyer un mail en 2 lignes leur disant que vous avez dû annuler votre voyage, mais reprendrez contact avec eux ultérieurement etc. Puis ne plus répondre à tous les mails en rafale que vous allez recevoir. Et refaire une demande un peu plus tard via une autre agence (key2persia par ex.), ou tout simplement décider d'arriver en VOA (visa on arrival).
Si vous avez vos billets, etc., peut-être pouvez-vous risquer de payer, car ils fourniront peut-être le service ainsi payé... Mais pour 5 p., c'est une somme, donc un sacré pari ! Et plus vous attendrez à répondre/payer, plus les coûts seront élevés car ils vous diront que compte tenu des délais votre dossier doit passer en "urgent", donc c'est le double à payer etc.
En tout état de cause, ne pas leur faire part de votre intervention à leur sujet sur des forums, ils se mettent à les éplucher pour y intervenir à leur tour.
La durée de mon VOA était ambiguë... : 1 mois selon les caractères en anglais pour la "durée de validité" (ce qui n'a pas de signification effective puisqu'on l'obtient bien juste à l'arrivée, contrairement aux visas obtenus à l'avance !), et de 15 jours pour la "duration of stay" (durée du séjour), plus des dates en farsi/datation selon calendrier local dont j'ai oublié la signification.
Pour mémoire, sur le site du consulat d'Iran à Paris on trouvait bien une durée de séjour pour les VOA de 15 jours.
Bref, à vérifier une fois obtenu, en regardant bien... et en se faisant expliquer les choses le cas échéant...

Le visa pour l'iran est beaucoup plus simple à obtenir à l'arrivée à l'aéroport de Téhéran qu'à l'ambassade à Paris.
Il s'obtient sans aucune difficulté et ils demandent les informations suivantes :
- Nom complet
- Nom du père
- Date de naissance
- Emploi
- Nationalité
- Nom et numéro de téléphone en Iran (hôtel ou contact, l’hôtel me paraît plus sur. Au début je n'ai pas renseigné cette case, mais on m'a demandé de le faire)
- Vol d'arrivé et de départ (Numéro du vol, ville et date ; tout est indiqué sur la réservation du billet)
Il faut ensuite payer 60€, et ils prennent vos empruntes digitales.
Ils ne demandent ni assurance, ni photo, ni numéro d'autorisation délivré par une agence de tourisme. A ma connaissance, la seule personne qui s'est plainte sur internet d'avoir eu des complications pour obtenir son visa à l'aéroport est une personne qui avait demandé ce numéro d'autorisation au préalable. Au final cette personne a quand même eu son visa.
Seul bémol, ils ne délivrent que des visas de 15 jours, mais il est possible de le renouveler deux fois sur place.
Cet hôtel propose des chambres en dortoir pour 7$ et a répondu très rapidement à mon email :

Pour renouveler le visa, il faut se rendre dans l'une des nombreuses capitales régionales du pays.
Ils demandent :
- Photocopie de la première page du passeport et du visa
- Récépissé de l'hôtel ou on se trouve
- 2 photos d'identité (les femmes doivent être voilées)
- environ 7€ (300.000 Rials) à déposer à une banque qui se trouve à proximité
Shiraz a longtemps été la place préférée des voyageurs pour renouveler les visas, mais le chef du service a changé et ce n'est plus le cas! Ils ont refusé de renouveler le mien car il était encore valide pour 8 jours, j'ai rencontré un autrichien qui lui a réussi trois jours avant la date d'expiration. A Esphahan ils me l'ont fait sans histoire.
Se rendre sur place et déposer la demande se fait en moins d'une heure, et à Esphahan ils ont traité mon dossier en deux heures.
En comparaison avec le temps nécessaire pour se rendre à l'ambassade à Paris, mon choix est vite fait!!!!!
Dans la plupart des pays à visa, il y a 2 dates (ou durées) de validité, sans aucune ambiguïté : la première est le délai dont on dispose pour "consommer" le visa, la seconde est la durée dans le pays. Que ces dates soient données en calendrier persan ou autre ne change rien. Sauf si ça a changé depuis avril, la durée de séjour pour les VOA en Iran est 15 jours. Si la validité de ce visa est 1 mois, je crois (mais à vérifier) que cela implique qu'on ne peut faire prolonger le VOA qu'une fois pour rester 1 mois sur place.
Pour un visa de tourisme délivré dans un consulat avant l'entrée en Iran, la durée de séjour est 1 mois à condition qu'on rentre dans les 3 mois suivant l'obtention du visa (sinon, visa périmé, on ne rentre pas). Le visa de tourisme peut être prolongé plusieurs fois, mais la date de début de la dernière prolongation doit elle aussi être dans l'intervalle des 3 mois de validité du visa, et la durée de séjour ne peut pas dépasser 3 mois.
Compte tenu des sanctions internationales, les sites de type hostelworld, hostelbookers, etc. ne fonctionnent pas en Iran. J'ai donc écrit par email à un hôtel en leur demandant s'ils pouvaient me réserver une chambre, et en leur demandant de me confirmer leur adresse et leur numéro de téléphone. J'ai reçu une réponse de l'hôtel me confirmant la réservation et avec leurs coordonnées, et je l'ai imprimé.
A l'aéroport ils m'ont demandé de renseigner les coordonnées de l'hôtel dans le formulaire de demande de visa, mais ils ne m'ont jamais demandé de voir la confirmation de réservation et je doute qu'ils l'aient appelé puisque mon avion a atterri à 3h30.
Je pense donc que ça devrait passer en donnant les coordonnées d'un hôtel sans réservation, mais je n'ai pas voulu prendre le risque!
Précision à propos du numéro d'autorisation :
- Il est inutile si on demande le visa en arrivant à l'aéroport de Téhéran
- Il est obligatoire si on effectue la demande de visa à l'ambassade de Paris
on m'a envoyé plusieurs messages personnels, donc il semblerait que les posts ne sont pas clairs...
Je suis désolée de te contredire mais j'ai eu nos visas à l'ambassade de Paris, sans le numéro d'autorisation.
J'y suis allée seule avec tous les documents indispensables pour nos deux demandes excepté les numéros.
J'avais un échange de mails avec un hôtel de Téhéran pour 2 nuits et l'employé m'a demandé de renvoyer le tout avec la confirmation d'au moins 5 nuits réservées dans le pays. C'est tout. Nous avons reçu nos visas 3 semaines après mon envoi.
Nous sommes encore en Iran en ce moment et tout se passe à merveille !

The information I’ve found about whether an international permit is required is contradictory. Some sources say you need one, others say you don’t.
Could anyone let me know if an international driver’s permit is necessary to rent a car in Australia (Perth), or if a French license is enough for a 7-day rental?
I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’m heading to Seoul in September, and to do that I need to get a travel authorization that we apply for through K-ETA....... turns out I can (barely, I admit) fill out the form up to the address of our "stay location," but every address I’ve entered has been rejected by the system. I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....
So, to anyone who’s successfully gotten the authorization, could you tell me which address you used to get that "elusive" approval?...

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
I read on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that it’s possible to apply for a temporary driving permit in China, valid for 1 month.

My departure is slowly approaching, and now that I’ve got my Russian visa sorted, I’m fine-tuning the rest of my trip to Tajikistan. Since the Tajik visa is no longer required for stays under 30 days (for French nationals), I’ll need to visit the Ministry of Interior (OVIR) to register within 10 days of entering the country. No big deal, though, since I had to go there anyway to apply for my GBAO permit. 😉 However, I’ve *seen* several reports from travelers (mostly motorized) mentioning that you need an entry permit for Kyrgyzstan, which has to be arranged in advance at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) in Dushanbe. Otherwise, you’re *stuck* at the Kyzyl-Art border (with no Wi-Fi, of course, to try and sort it out). The most recent report was from a year ago, so I’d love to know if this is still the case and if it’s indeed at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) where you need to go for this pre-authorization.

I’m leaving for almost 3 months in the Philippines (11 weeks total) starting in early May.
I already have my round-trip ticket.
The problem is, I don’t have time to get a 2-month visa because the process takes nearly a month.
From what I’ve read here and there, I need a return ticket valid for less than a month when I arrive in the Philippines to prove my good faith.
After that, I can apply for a 30-day extension at the immigration office.
I’m planning to either buy a fully refundable ticket to the nearest country or a fake ticket.
For 3 months, I’ll need to extend my visa two more times before my return date to France.
My question is this:
Will immigration ask me each time I extend my visa by one month to show proof of an exit ticket matching the new visa extension date?
Is it possible to extend directly by 2 months before the initial 30 days expire?
