Je suis allé ce matin à Charles de Gaulle pour essayer d'en savoir plus à propos du visa d'aéroport à Téhéran.
Lufthansa comme les autres compagnies se fient aux informations de TIMATIC (IATA) pour laisser embarquer ou non les passagers qui souhaitent demander leur visa à l'arrivée.
A ce jour, même si un numéro d'autorisation préalable du MFA iranien est en principe demandé depuis le 1er juin, cette option n'est pas encore active dans TIMATIC et les compagnies laissent donc embarquer les passagers sans difficulté. Il n'y a eu avec Lufthansa aucun passager refusé à l'embarquement.
Par contre, je n'arrive pas à savoir si le visa d'aéroport est toujours de 15 jours et si on peut toujours le faire prolonger à Shiraz ou Ispahan.
Si vous avez d'autres infos, n'hésitez pas. Nous partons le 18 juillet.

Hier j'ai appelé l'ambassade d'Iran à Paris et mon interlocuteur m'a répondu qu'on pouvait sans problème obtenir le visa à l'aéroport, il suffit d'avoir 2 photos, une réservation d'hôtel et 50 euros. Dans la foulée, j'ai réservé un hôtel et l'hôtelier m'a confirmé l'information de l'ambassade. Il a ajouté que le visa délivré à l'aéroport n'était que de 7 jours et que les prolongations ne se font désormais qu'à Téhéran.
Je pars le 15 juillet, cela complique tout de même le voyage mais j'ai tellement envie de visiter ce pays...

Vous a-t-il donné l'adresse pour le renouvellement à Téhéran? Attention l'application de ces règles à Téhéran semble être liée au bon vouloir du fonctionnaire en poste. Effectivement, j'ai les mêmes infos concernant la durée de 7 jours et le fait qu'on ne puisse prolonger les visas qu'à Téhéran. Par contre, apparamment un nom d'hôtel ne suffit plus. Il leur faut le nom d'un hôte. Voir ci-dessous, l'histoire de cette chinoise arrivée cette nuit et refoulée (issue du site Lonely Planet en anglais). Elle avait donné les références d'un certain Amir, rencontré sur le site Lonely Planet, ils l'ont appelé à 4 heures du matin pour se renseigner sur cette fille. Ne pouvant pas répondre aux questions, ils l'ont renvoyé illico dans le premier avion......
HORROR STORY – Warning -- Iran VOA (airport visa)

I tried to help this Chinese gal whom I met a week ago on the Internet. I
explained to her beforehand Iran current problematic and uncertain VOA
situation. However, she insisted he wanted to come anyway because she did
not know about VOA changes, had already bought her ticket for Tehran, and
her travel agency back in china had told her she could be go online and
apply for MFA confirmation/approval code, and then get visa later at Iran
Airport. Just to be on the safe side however, quite reluctantly I gave her
my contact info since I had heard that IK Airport Immigration did not care
much for new incoming tourists (after presidential elections) to put down
hotel’s name an manager as ‘personal reference’. But I made sure she
understood that I was NOT legally her ‘host’ or sponsor, and should tell the
airport officials the same. I am not sure she had read my last emails to her
before her departure.
Anyway, at 4am, when I was in deep sleep, I received a call from a young man
at the Tehran Airport Immigration. He said, “ this Chinese gal is here with
us with no visa, and what do you know about this gal, where is she coming
from, what is the purpose o her visit, how did you came to meet her, what is
her job, etc, etc.” very quick questions. Obviously I was quite drowsy but
told him that I have known her through the Internet and I knew she is only
here to tour the country for a short time. When asked where she will be
staying at, I said my elderly dad is ill and hence I am afraid she would
have to go to the hotel for now. He then said goodbye.
Twenty minutes later, when I was still in shock from that unwelcome
conversation which I had never expected to come, let alone at 4am, I
received a call from an airline desk manager telling me that the Chinese gal
was being put on a plane and deported but she had first asked to talk to me!
I told her I was very, very sorry, my hands were tied though, and there was
absolutely nothing I could do for her considering the time and
circumstances. Then, I decided, maybe unwisely, to call back the Airport
Immigration to make them change their mind. this time, the same old officer
but in quite a threatening tone of voice, told me that I should have never
invited someone I had met through the Internet and must have instead gone
through ‘proper channels’ of officially sponsoring someone, placing all the
blames on me and stressing it was my purely fault she was sent back home .
Through my bad deeds, he stressed, I have badly harmed my country’s good
(tourism)
reputation worldwide! I am not kidding. Further, he noted, I had failed,
among others, to adequately take responsibility for her and after having had
invited her to my country and home. Although I was upset I tried to calm
down and explain to him as carefully as I could that I had never invited or
sponsored her (see above) or any one. I do know what she had told them when
questioned by VOA guys whose spoken English I seriously doubt is any better
than hers. Anyway, she was sent back to Dubai very quickly and
unceremoniously. The whole thing did not last more than an hour the most.
Now very important points you the reader should remember.
If you plan to list an Iranian as your personal contact/reference, then you
should know in advance everything about him or her (age, job, home, how you
have met, etc.) and vice versa! And the answers have to be ‘right’ and
match, let’s say, as far as Iranian officials are concerned. Do you
homework.
If you tell Airport Immigration you know ‘each other’ through The Internet,
you have said more than enough to be deported right away! They greatly
distrust and are suspicious of The Internet. Now I clearly see that after
what happened tonight.
You may have to stay at your Iranian personal reference no matter what. At
least you are expected to go his or her house direct from the airport. Will
you be followed or not, I do not know. If you are saying you are staying at
a hotel, you will likely be deported especially if they think you have ‘host’
- - even if you do NOT!
If I have previously given you my name and contact info, make sure you DO
NOT LIST ON VOA APPLICATION or even mention it at the airport. Otherwise,
you will certainly be deported as well. That is how sure I am.
After what happened tonight to me and that poor girl I am not sure what to
say positively about or think of Iran airport visa -- and what to recommend
or not.

Donner le nom de quelqu'un, ce n'est plus du tourisme, c'est une visite. Refus... Normal.
Sauf que depuis le 22 juin, et même si çà parait très contradictoire, je suis d'accord, c'est une demande du MFA iranien, même pour les Visas on arrival dédiés au tourisme.

Pour le Couchsurfing, on n'a jamais eu droit à ce visa en toute rigueur....

Je reviens du consulat d'Iran à Paris, où il m'a été confirmé que les visas d'aéroport posaient problème. On m'a proposé de faire une demande en urgence (je pars dans 10 jours). Ce que j'ai accepté. Je ne prends pas le risque de me faire refuser le visa à Téhéran.
Précision: Il m'a été posé très peu de questions en comparaison avec les autres touristes qui sont passés avant moi.
Alors qu'on leur demandait le numéro d'autorisation du MFA, avec qui ils comptaient voyager, leur réservation d'hôtel avec confirmation de paiement (impossible à obtenir), à moi, rien.
Je pense que c'est du au fait de voyager en famille avec 3 enfants. Les autres touristes voyageaient apparemment seuls.
On verra bien. Je vous tiendrai au courant de l'obtention ou non de notre visa.

Quand j'y suis allé le 29 juin , il ne m'a rien demandé , je lui ai donné , le formulaire , 2 photos , un e-mail de confirmation d' hotel à Esfahan, une photocopie de mon billet d'avion Iran air ( si c'est niet , je l'ai dans le.....). Il a vu que j'étais allé en Iran l'année dernière , avec sur mon passseport un visa airport , et deux extensions .
je croise les doigts.

Et avez -vous demandé si les prolongations se faisaient bien uniquement à Téhéran car cela ne me semble pas très commode, d'autant plus qu'ils ne délivrent semble-t-il, en France ou à l'aéroport de Téhéran, que des visas de 7 jours. Comme tout change d'heure en heure, on ne sait jamais.

Non je n'ai pas demandé, si cela est le cas , cela m'obligerait , si j'ai mon visa , a faire 3 prolongations et de revenir à chaque fois à Teheran .
J'ai demandé 28 jours , la réponse dans 4 heures .
çà ne sera pas forcément 3 prolongations. D'après mes dernières infos, on peut obtenir 30 jours supplémentaires d'un coup et pas seulement à Téhéran. Je crois malheureusement que pour des infos fiables, il faudra attendre d'être sur place.

Cela a fonctionné effectivement comme cela par laxisme, mais normalement ça ne pouvait pas passer pour un visa à l'aéroport.

C'est précisement dans le cas de visa à l'aeroport que je l'ai fait.
Je ne l'avais pas fait pour mes visas à l'ambassade.
Apres, je suis d'accord qu'en ce moment, vaut mieux éviter de se faire remarquer, ne pas prendre de risques, et donner une adresse d'hôtel, même si on va chez des gens sur place.

Aux dernieres nouvelles que j'ai eu de Teheran, rien n'a changé au niveau des visas à l'aéroport, cela dit cette information date d'il y a deux semaines.

Bon pour en revenir a cette histoire de visa à l'aéroport, il est souvent écrit qu'il est de 7 jours, et ce depuis plus d'un an, or ils donnent directement un visa de deux semaines à l'aéroport, sans poser des questions (en ce qui me concerne).
Les prolongations se font sans problemes aussi dans les diverses villes d'Iran.
De toute façon, faut pas se leurrer, ça a toujours été la galère pour avoir des renseignements avant le départ sur les visas iraniens, je sais de quoi je parle, on entends tout et son contraire un peu partout.
Je ne sais pas comment les choses se passent en détail depuis ces deux derniers mois, mais si je peux donner un conseil c'est "allez-y".
Je sais que j'ai bonne mine de dire ça parce que je reste en France pour le moment et que ce n'est pas moi qui risque de me faire refouler à l'arrivée.

Franchement, tant qu'on vous dis pas que la frontière est fermée aux français ou qu'on ne donne définitivement plus de visas a l'aéroport, tentez votre chance et allez-y.
Je comprends qu'on ai envie d'etre rassuré avant son départ, et qu'on veuille obtenir des garanties, mais je crains que sur ce sujet vous n'en aurez jamais tant que vous ne serez pas en personne devant le guichet des visas.

J'ai exactement le même problème et je pars également le 18!
Ma copine avait déposé une demande de visa récupéré pour le 16.06 soit après les élections et le visa a été refusé. Aucune explication a été donnée à ce refus.
Je me renseigne à nouveau auprès des compagnies aériennes demain.
Bon, mon dernier séjour en Iran date d'Avril dernier,
voici mon experience : je suis allé cinq fois en Iran ces deux dernieres années, j'ai eu deux fois le visa via l'ambassade à Paris et trois fois à l'aeroport de Teheran.
Je n'ai jamais eu de problemes ou de complications.
Je me suis renseigné a chaque fois, entre autres sur ce forum, il y a eu des messages de gens qui se sont fait refuser le visa à l'ambassade sans raisons, mais, à ma connaissance, jamais à l'aeroport.
Je comprends l'angoisse qu'il y a à s'embarquer sans visa, je l'ai fai trois fois!😕
Selon toute vraisemblance, il n'y a eu aucune directive officielle concernant l'acces au sol iranien pour les français.
Donc rien de changé.
Si vous n'avez rien à vous reprocher, allez-y, il n'y a pas de raison que ça se passe mal.
En attendant, allez voir sur ce forum le nombre de questions relatives aux visas à l'aéroport, vous verrez qu'on se pose tous toujours les mêmes....et combien de témoignages de gens refoulés? Aucun à ma connaissance!

Vous aurez surement un petit coup d'adrénaline en arrivant sur place, mais vous aurez votre visa à la main avant même de vous en rendre compte!

Une de mes amies iranienne est revenue a Teheran il y a un peu plus de deux semaines, je lui ai demandé d'aller au guichet des visas à son arrivée à l'aéroport pour se renseigner.
Le gars lui a clairement dit que rien n'était changé et qu'on donnait toujours les visas aux français.
A ma connaissance il n'y a pas eu de fermeture des aeroports, ni d'interdictions ou de restrictions d'acces au territoire iraniens.
Donc pas de raisons de s'inquieter outre mesure.
Allez-y, il n'y a aucune raison que vous soyez refoulé.
bon et bien pour être plus sur , parce que nous sommes beaucoup dans cette situation " j'y vais, j'y vais pas" les prochains voyageurs qui arrivent à l'aéroport à partir de maintenant peuvent-il en arrivant allez sur ce forum et témoigner que le bureau sur place est bien ouvert et mieux mettre sur ce forum le numéro de télephone de ce bureau s-ils arrivent à l'obtenir.

D'après l'ambassade ce n'est pas nécessaire d'avoir un numéro du MAF. Ce matin j'ai appelé à nouveau l'ambassade et la réponse a encore changé. Cette fois ils m'ont conseillé d'avoir toutes mes nuits d'hôtel réservées. Vu l'incertitude et le manque d'info, j'ai décidé d'annuler mon voyage (j'irai une autre fois), et d'aller ailleurs.
Sur le site de LP, il y a davantage d'infos, 2 Belges et 1 néerlandais se sont faits refouler hier. Il est vrai qu'ils n'avaient aucun contact en Iran.

En tous cas, même sur le site de Gulf Air, il est précisé d'avoir le numéro du MAF avant d'embarquer, et que le visa à l'aéroport est possible pour un "stay" en Iran de 15 jours max. Est-ce que cela sous-entend que l'on peut tout de même le prolonger ?
Comme il n'y a aucun exemple de voyageur à avoir obtenu son VOA récemment mais plutôt des exemples de touristes refoulés, j'ai préféré reporter ce voyage.

Ce ne sont visiblement pas les seuls à s'être fait refouler, il y a d'autres exemples. Je me souviens d'une chinoise et d'un mexicain. Même si cela a toujours été la grande inquiétude des touristes, il semblerait que les conditions se soient cette fois réellement durcies.
Je n'ai pas vu de messages de touristes français qui ont obtenu le visa à l'aéroport depuis les récents événements. Comme beaucoup j'ai aussi préféré annuler.

Le visa airport c'est bien si vous restez 15 jours , et vous ne payez que 50 € au lieu des 60 au consulat , mais pour plus de 15 jours , et j'en ai fait l'expérience l'année dernière , ce n'est pas valable , a peu près 3/4 d'heure à l'aéroport pour le formulaire , le paiement , les empreintes et l'attente.
Pour l'extension il faut payer 15 € , même dans une ville comme Esfahan , vous perdez la matinée .
Il y a d'autres lieux à admirer en Iran que le bureau des affaires étrangères !!!

J'ai mon billet pour Téhéran départ dimanche 26 et je n'ai pas de visa , j'espère bien-sûr l'avoir à l'arrivée à l'aéroport et faire une prolongation sur place dans une autre ville .Les informations que nous avons laissent penser qu'il n'y a rien de changé pour obtenir le fameux "Visa" à IKA
Comme nous n'avons pas la possibilité de nous déplacer à l'ambassade d'Iran à Paris d'ici le départ pour faire nos visas , nous allons arriver à CDG normalement et voir si Aéroflot nous embarque .Le seul risque est jusqu'à l'enregistrement .Si c'est OK , on embarque , si c'est non il faudra aviser et voir pour changer nos billets , les faire rembourser en partie (taxes d'aéroport ) ou le risque de tout perdre , je précise que j'ai payé nos billets avec une Visa Gold !

Je pense comme vous , en ce qui concerne l'éventuel remboursement partiel d'un billet d'avion en cas de non visa ou d'évènements dans un pays .
Si la compagnie émettrice du billet , en l'occurence A2roflot , me laisse embarquer à Paris pour un vol sur Téhéran via Moscou je pense qu'il ny aura pas de probleme .
Aéroflot ne prendra pas le risque !

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I have to leave for Perth, Australia in a week, for 7 days, and I couldn’t get my international driver’s permit due to processing and delivery delays.
The information I’ve found about whether an international permit is required is contradictory. Some sources say you need one, others say you don’t.
Could anyone let me know if an international driver’s permit is necessary to rent a car in Australia (Perth), or if a French license is enough for a 7-day rental?
I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’m heading to Seoul in September, and to do that I need to get a travel authorization that we apply for through K-ETA....... turns out I can (barely, I admit) fill out the form up to the address of our "stay location," but every address I’ve entered has been rejected by the system. I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....
So, to anyone who’s successfully gotten the authorization, could you tell me which address you used to get that "elusive" approval?...

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

We’ll soon be moving to Madagascar long-term.
As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

There are rumors going around about the ETA: it must absolutely be on your smartphone in the "ETA" app.
Paper documents might not be accepted.

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

Did the airline ask for an exit ticket before boarding?
Did Chinese authorities require proof upon arrival?
Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?

My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
I read on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that it’s possible to apply for a temporary driving permit in China, valid for 1 month.
I’m planning to rent a car (without a driver) to explore part of the country next August, so I was wondering:

How long do the formalities take on the spot?
