Pour obtenir mon visa chinois depuis la France je dois fournir un billet d'avion d'entrée et de sortie de la Chine. J'ai une petite incertitude concernant la délivrance du visa de tourisme de 60 jours (on m'a dit que cela peut être refusé par l'ambassade de Chine). J'aimerais savoir dans quel cas c'est refusé. J'aimerais savoir comment faire pour que ma demande soit acceptée (j'ai des justificatifs de revenus, je pourrai fournir les billets d'avion d'entrée et de sortie, etc.). Je vais peut-être aller poser la question à l'agence de visas sur les Champs-Elysées vu que je ne travaille pas très loin, mais j'aimerais avoir votre avis aussi.

- soit j’achète aussi un billet Guying – Hong Kong (pour y aller pendant les 30 jours du 1er visa) et comme ça avec ce 2ème visa de 30 jours je pourrai faire durer mon séjour jusqu’à 7 semaines et utiliser mon billet Kunming – Chiang Mai (sinon il est perdu).
Vous avez une meilleure idée ?
Sinon vous me conseillez d'aller me planquer où pendant la 1ère semaine d'octobre ? (congés chinois = bus, trains et hôtels bondés) J'aimerais bien trouver un endroit (plutôt en Chine du sud) où je peux rayonner facilement tout autour sans avoir besoin de prendre des transports.

Hélas, personne ne peut répondre à cette question car
- il n'existe aucun truc qui te garantisse l'obtention d'un visa de tourisme de 60j
- tout comme personne ne peut t'affirmer que tu ne l'obtiendras pas

J'ai raté un épisode. Tu l'obtiens où et quand ton 2ème visa de 30j ?
Parce qui si tu arrives à faire prolonger ton visa de 30j en Chine, c'est une extension de visa, pas un nouveau visa. Cela te permet de rester plus longtemps (les 60j que tu voulais avoir au départ). Mais si tu pars à HK, tu ne pourras plus rentrer en Chine "continentale", sauf à avoir un visa double entrée.
Ou alors, tu pars du principe que tu vas demander en arrivant à HK un nouveau visa de tourisme de 30j, mais rien ne te garantit que tu l'obtiendras

Pas vraiment une autre idée, plutôt une autre variante.
1) tu fais une demande de visa classique (en décrivant un voyage "imaginaire" possible en 30j en présentant une réservation d'avion - fausse ou annulée ensuite - te faisant quitter la Chine avant la fin de ces 30j) et là (du moins je te le souhaite), tu obtiens un visa tourisme avec 30j de séjour.
2) une fois en Chine, tu commences ton voyage (selon l'itinéraire que tu voulais dès le début - même s'il est différent de ce que tu as présenté pour demander ton visa) en essayant d'être dans les environs d'une ville (pas trop grosse) mais suffisamment pour avoir un PSB dans lequel tu pourras demander une extension de ton visa (et tu évites de le faire pendant une période de congés) afin d'être certain que le PSB soit ouvert.
Ensuite 2 possibilités :
a) ils t'accordent ton extension. Tu es le roi du monde. Tu peux donc finir le voyage que tu avais prévu et pendant la période qu'il te reste, tu achètes le billet d'avion qui t'emmènera dans ta prochaine destination, à moins que tu décides de quitter la Chine continentale par voie terrestre
b) ils ne te l'accordent pas. Il te faut donc changer tes plans et trouver rapidement un moyen de transport te permettant de quitter la Chine continentale avant l'expiration de ton visa original (de 30j). Par exemple, tu peux aller à HK effectivement.
A ce moment là, ton billet te coûtera peut-être plus cher que si tu l'avais acheté plusieurs mois à l'avance, mais c'est un risque à prendre.
Ensuite, si c'est HK que tu as choisi, tu peux effectivement essayer de demander un nouveau visa chinois, mais rien ne te garantit que tu l'obtiendras et s'ils te l'accordent, rien ne te garantit qu'il sera de 30j (ils pourraient te délivrer un visa de 14j).
Sinon vous me conseillez d'aller me planquer où pendant la 1ère semaine d'octobre ? (congés chinois = bus, trains et hôtels bondés) J'aimerais bien trouver un endroit (plutôt en Chine du sud) où je peux rayonner facilement tout autour sans avoir besoin de prendre des transports.
Ben peut-être à Guilin justement (en louant un vélo et en te baladant), sauf qu'à cette période, il risque d'y avoir énormément de touristes...chinois (justement).

Pour obtenir un visa de 60 jours il faut présenter un itinéraire qui le justifie.
Il n'y a pas d'endroits où se cacher durant la f^te national. Le problème n'est pas autant le transport que le fait qu'il y aura trop de monde partout.
Je pense tenter le coup de demander un visa de 60 jours, en présentant mon billet d'entrée (Osaka - Pékin) et de sortie (Kunming - Chiang Mai), que j'aurai tous 2 achetés depuis la France. Si on m'accorde 30 jours à Paris, ce serait bien le diable si sur place je ne peux pas obtenir soit une extension de visa à un Public Security Bureau (PSB), soit un nouveau visa depuis Hong Kong (je ne comprends pas ton pessimisme... aucun des voyageurs à qui j'en ai parlé ne m'a dit que ça risquait de ne pas marcher...) !... J'aurai les justificatifs de revenus nécessaires, attestation de travail, etc. bref tout ce qu'il faut pour prouver que je ne vais pas moisir en Chine... 😉
Oui je voulais parler de Guilin, je ne suis pas encore familier de l'orthographe de certaines villes asiatiques... D'ailleurs je pense que j'aurai probablement besoin sur place de me payer un vol Pékin - Guilin car en train ou bus ça doit être très très très long d'aller de Pékin jusqu'en Chine du sud, non ?

Pour me planquer quelque part pendant la 1ère semaine d'octobre : les sites officiels chinois annoncent pour cette année une période fériée du mercredi 1er au mardi 7 octobre inclus. Les transports seront probablement saturés du mardi 30 septembre au mercredi 1er oct, puis le mardi 7 octobre, ce sera très difficile trouver des billets ces trois jours-là. Pour le reste c'est indifférent. Donc je peux partir en trek cette semaine-là ou en profiter pour visiter Pékin qui sera vidée (à l'exception des sites très touristiques de Pékin et de ses alentours ?) d'une grande partie de ses habitants qui retournent dans leur ville / province d'origine pendant les vacances... 😉
pekin vidé entre le 1 et le 7 octobre ? tu rèves ! la cité interdite, la place tien anmen, c'est 10 personnes au m2😎, surtout les 5 premiers jours. en revanche pour les billets de train pour datong, aller à la grande muraille, aucun problème.

C'est plus facile de justifier un 60j si tu demandes un double entrée. Tu peux expliquer que tu va passer par Shenzhen ou Canton au milieu de ton périple et que tu souhaites de là faire un aller-retour à HK ou Macau pour une semaine, avant de retourner en Chine finir ton voyage.
Le billet de train coûte 3 euros, tu peux l'acheter en ligne et le présenter avec ta demande pour justifier le double entrée 60j.
Un point à 7 jours du grand départ :
- j'ai eu mon visa russe, en passant par une agence
- j'ai eu un visa chinois de 60 jours simple entrée (donc pas besoin de sortir à Hong-Kong !), sans passer par une agence mais en présentant une lettre d'invitation d'une amie chinoise (je ne sais pas si c'est cette lettre qui a fait la différence), donc je vais pouvoir passer 7 semaines en Chine.
J'ai fait un max de couchsurfing depuis 2 mois pour bien m'imprégner du truc, c'est très sympa d'héberger des voyageurs, ça fait voyager et on s'échange des tuyaux, c'est cool !... 😉
Presque toutes mes affaires sont prêtes, juste 2-3 bricoles à acheter, le remplissage sac à tester, l'appart à bien nettoyer, et hop ! direction Moscou jeudi 7 août pour un trip en transsibérien !

J'ai le projet de visiter les montagnes sichuanaises à l'automne. 30 jours, c'est court. Et ressortir du pays ne ressemble à rien dans cette région où, quand tu es en montagnes tu es loin des aéroports. Je ne sais pas s'il me sera possible d'obtenir ce visa d'au moins 45 jours.
Bravo pour l'obtention de ton visa, je cherche aussi à obtenir celui de 60 jours, problème je n'ai qu'un billet d'avion aller, de la Mongolie à Pékin, mais pour le retour, vu qu'on fait un tour du monde, nous voulons passer par la frontière terrestre au Laos. Peut-on présenter un simple billet de train et une réservation d'hôtel au Laos (pour prouver qu'on y sera bien) pour obtenir le visa ?
Quels autres justificatifs seraient nécessaires sinon ?

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

In November, we're heading off on a 4-month trip. We'll be landing in China and plan to leave the country via a land border into Vietnam.
I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.
Has anyone here been in this situation recently?
Did the airline ask for an exit ticket before boarding?
Did Chinese authorities require proof upon arrival?
Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?
Is a cancelable or flexible reservation accepted?

Just a question that’s probably been asked before (though usually the other way around for my situation :))
My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I’m spending a few days in San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) and would like to cross the Argentine border to make a loop toward Salta and then return to Chile to drop off the rental car.
I’ve heard that crossing the border can be tricky!
Is it possible with a rental company’s authorization? Which company, and at what cost?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
