J'ai un rendez vous au centre VHS de Marseille pour dépôt de dossier afin d'obtenir mon visa touristique de 21 jours pour des vacances à Moscou.
Je suis prêt à fournir tous les documents demandés cependant j'ai quelques doutes, ainsi que craintes sur la bonne obtention du visa. Cela fait assez longtemps que je souhaite visiter la Russie et comme je n'ai que certaines dates possible pour des vacances, je m'inquiète.
J'ai donc en ma possession tous ces documents:
*voucher + confirmation + programme détaillé : Les trois obtenus avec Russie Autrement
*Un passeport Belge valide: date d'expiration 2021
*Le formulaire de demande rempli et signé
*Une photographie couleur récente
*L'original de l'assurance médicale
*Les 61€ de frais de prestations et droits consulaires
Mes doutes viennent de ma police d'assurance. En effet, sur le site VHS il est marqué que l'assurance doit pouvoir couvrir un minimum de 30.000€ de frais. Ayant une carte VISA CLASSIC, j'ai téléphoné à EUROP ASSISTANCE qui m'ont indiqué que ma couverture n'était que de 11.000€, mais qu'ils n'avaient jamais eu le problème avec leurs attestations. (Leurs attestations n'indiquent pas le montant de la couverture et apparemment ils auraient des accords avec la Russie?).
Mon attestation d'assurance montre d'autant plus une couverture sur deux mois, hors je ne partirais que du 6 au 27 février. J'ai envoyé un email au centre VHS et comme réponse j'ai eu:

Sur le site du consulat Russe il est cependant marqué que les dates doivent correspondre à l'entrée et la sortie du territoire Russe...
Pour en finir... J'aurais aimé vous demander vos opinions sur mon dossier, ainsi que de vous demandez comment les centres VHS s'occupent des dossiers. Je donne un dossier complet cependant s'ils ont besoin de plus de documents, comment ça se passe? Ou bien refusent ils tous les dossiers qu'ils n'aiment pas sans plus?

à mon avis, il faut mieux que vous prolongiez votre contrat d'assurance avant de déposer votre demande de visa. Les dossiers incomplets ou avec un document invalide sont souvent purement et simplement refusés. Auquel cas il ne vous resterait plus qu'à remédier au problème et à refaire une nouvelle demande... Par contre si tout est en règle, ça devrait bien se passer.

Je crois que VHS France a quelques exigences sur la couleur de la signature sur la demande de visa (à vérifier)
pour l'assurance, c'est amusant, j'ai regardé une de mes anciennes attestation d'Europ assistance, elle était en anglais.
Pour la couverture de l'assurance, quelques jours avant et après les dates du visas sont, sans problèmes, acceptés.
La réponse de VHS est normale. Regarder si, sur l'attestation est inscrit Russie. regarder aussi si un n° de police est inscrit.
Normalement le visa est payé par carte bancaire (pas de cartes de crédit, je pense) et pas en liquide.
Des paiements ont-ils été effectués pour les hôtels, dans l'affirmative, les avoir sur soi, (pas les donner avec la demande de visa), si on les demande, les fournir.

Normalement ma demande de visa est complète. L'assurance est bien aux normes, du moins pour l'attestation... la couverture en elle même ne couvre que 11.000€ lorsque 30.000€ sont normalement exigés. Les attestations d'EUROP ASSISTANCE sont exactement les mêmes cependant... Elles marquent les mêmes informations, avec un numéro de contrat et nom d'assurance différent évidemment mais selon EUROP ASSISTANCE, l'assurance elle même est suffisante et beaucoup de gens utilisent celle de leur carte VISA Classic pour faire leur demandes.
En ce qui concerne la durée de l'assurance, l'attestation dit me couvrir du 1er février au 1er mars (je partirais du 6 au 27 février)

Oui tout à fait, ils demandent à ce que les documents soient signés au stylo à bille noir. 🙂 Au niveau du paiement, je ne suis pas au courant, mais que ce soit en espèce ou carte bancaire je saurai quand même les régler. Je dépose mes documents le 17, dans le cas où il manquerait X ou Y documents, prennent ils contact avec vous ou bien attendent ils juste que vous passiez ?

Pour les documents manquants, je ne connais pas bien vhs, je passe par une ambassade. En principe, s'il manque un document et s'il est incomplet, on vous demandera de l'apporter. Je pense que vhs est là pour vous aider. Si tout est en ordre, il n'y a pas de problèmes.

ça dépend des consulats. N'habitant pas près d'un consulat, c'était plus pratique pour moi de passer par une agence, c'est elle qui a fait en sorte que tout soit OK. Les exigences varient un peu d'un consulat à l'autre (formulaire dactylographié ou manuscrit, couleur de l'encre, invitation fax ou original papier, etc).
En France, le consulat russe de Lyon est plus tatillon que celui de Marseille, par exemple. Ainsi, pour mon dernier visa, Lyon exigeait l'original papier de l'invitation alors que Marseille a bien voulu se contenter d'un scan PDF-isé, mais à condition que je fournisse une copie du passeport du directeur de l'établissement russe qui m'invitait (ce n'était pas un visa de tourisme)

Je connais une agence qui procure le même service pour 180€; et le telex d'invitation visa 12 mois/multi pour mon visa actuel m'avait couté 160€ par encore une autre agence qui faisait une promotion.
Si le coût n'est pas un problème acheter l'invitation telex pour visa affaires entrée simple 1 mois est le plus simple pour une visite de 21 jours: pas de vouchers, justificatifs, itinéraires à fournir.

oui le visa "affaire" n'a rien à voir avec des affaires. C'est simplement une question de prix. Mais attention, la demande de ce visa par présentation de l'invitation papier, peut être refusée, selon les humeurs et consignes des divers consulats locaux. Comme le mentionnait une autre forumeuse, l'agent consulaire peut par exemple exiger l'original de la lettre d'invitation, ce qui ajoute des frais, ce bout de papier étant envoyé de Russie, et souvent les agences le fournissant proposent uniquement une livraison par courrier expres (Fedex, DHL, etc). Il peut y avoir aussi des questions posées par l'agent.
Par contre l'invitation qui est envoyée par telex depuis l'administration russe jusqu'au consulat où on va effectuer la demande, c'est magique: on depose le dossier avec le passeport, photo, formulaire, attestation d'assurance et le numero du telex, et voilà. Mais c'est fort cher par rapport au visa tourisme cher si on effectue un unique voyage. De plus si on pense effectuer différents voyage dans l'année, il faut d'abord avoir obtenu et utilisé un visa simple entrée avant de pouvoir demander un visa multiple entrées. A prendre en compte pour optimiser les frais.

lorsque l'agent consulaire donne une date pour revenir récupérer le passeport, et que le paiment a été perçu et une quittance délivrée, c'est qu'il a accepté/validé la demande de visa. Lorsqu'on revient, on récupère son passeport avec le visa dessus.

effectivment j'avais manqué de point: vous êtes allé dans un VHS. Les autres participants sauront répondre. Je vais directement au consulat, ce qui semble dorénavant impossible dans certains pays ou villes. Je dirais qu'ils semblent effectivement un maillon intermediaire mais justement un filtre pour délester le consulat, et ne prennent un dossier de demande que s'il est bon. Mais consultent-ils les mêmes fichiers informatiques que les agents consulaires pour statuer??

peut-être mais je ne vois pas bien le rapport avec mon message : je ne suis pas passée par une agence pour obtenir mon invitation, mais uniquement pour gérer le dossier parce que des amis russes résidant en France m'avaient prévenue que le consulat le plus proche de mon domicile était moins commode et moins fiable que celui de Marseille. Et leurs conseils se sont avérés pertinents, car agence+consulat de Marseille m'ont permis de rattraper un retard causé par ma banque qui avait égaré le virement à l'organisme russe qui allait m'inviter (dans mon cas, ce n'était ni un visa "tourisme" car j'ai passé plus d'un mois en Russie, ni un visa "affaires" sans affaires: je partais pour un stage)
Ceci dit, je note vos adresses pour une prochaine fois où je resterai plus longtemps que la durée du stage.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I’m spending a few days in San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) and would like to cross the Argentine border to make a loop toward Salta and then return to Chile to drop off the rental car.
I’ve heard that crossing the border can be tricky!
Is it possible with a rental company’s authorization? Which company, and at what cost?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
