En synthétisant, ca représente un peu plus de 4000 km aller retour (départ paris, en comptant un trajet en ferry entre l'Allemagne et la Lettonie, le tout sur 3 semaines).
Je me demandais si quelq'un aurait déjà fait quelque chose de similaire (tout conseil étant évidemment le bienvenu) et je cherche des motards interéssés pour m'accompagner.

Bonsoir, en fait j'ai dis 3 semaines en me basant sur une estimation grossière au vu des guides sur la région. Par contre, si on se limite à l'essentiel, ça tient aussi sur 2 semaines. La seule vraie limite dans l'organisation c'est le ferry entre l'Allemagne et le Lettonie. Je dois potasser mon trajet ce week-end, et je serai plus précis dans quelques jours.
Sinon, je roule sur une CBF 600, ce qui explique que je souhaite limiter les trajets monotones sur autoroute (au bout de 800/900 km mon fessier crie pitié). En passant par le ferry, on fait Paris-Kiel (1000 km à peu près), puis une petite "croisière" et après une fois débarqué jamais plus de 200/300 km par jour. En plus, le pays est plat comme la main, alors côté virolos c'est un peu pauvre, mais j'admets que c'est plutôt l'aspect culturel du voyage qui m'intéresse. La moto, c'est principalement pour être plus au grand air et au contact des habitants.
Côté météo, il faut s'attendre à des températures entre 12 et 20°, mais il parait que les locaux se baignent quand même en été 🙂

J'y suis allé en 2006 en revenant du cap nord, avec un scooter x9 125.
Très dépaysant, j'ai aimé au niveau des prix très bas et du contact avec les habitants.
Une impression de changer d'époque, mais je pense que ça évolue très très vite.
Pour les paysages, je vois que tu es au courant, donc pas de soucis. Car c'est d'une tristesse (je n'aime pas les plaines). Comme c'est l'aspect culturel qui te plait, tu ne seras pas déçu.
Etat des routes : mauvais à très mauvais, mais en 4 ans, ça doit avoir beaucoup changé (dans le bon sens).

J'évite les villes au maximum, je n'ai donc jamais de problèmes de ce point de vue.
Mais j'avais fait une exception pour Riga, que je voulais voir. Circulation monstrueuse, impossible de doubler en double-file tellement c'était serré !
Très difficile de stationner, beaucoup de flics un peu partout.
N'avaient pas l'air de vouloir rigoler spécialement, mais je n'ai fait que deux arrêts pour faire des photos (que j'ai perdues pour cause de carte mémoire bloquée...!!)
Dans ce cas, j'arrive toujours.
Mais sincèrement, si tu fais gaffe à ne pas déranger, je ne crois pas que tu aurais des problèmes.
J'ai eu bien du mal à ressortir de Riga (très grande ville, indications routières pas très faciles), mais les gens sont super sympa, et un automobiliste a fait un détour de 20 bornes pour me mettre sur la bonne voie !
Par contre, à Budapest, c'est également extrêmement difficile, avec en plus des trottoirs très hauts, impossible de les escalader !

En bref: Au mois de juillet prochain je pars seul en moto en Finlande où réside ma belle famille. Ma femme est finlandaise. Belgique, Hollande, Danemark Suède....Bateau de Stockholm jusqu'à Helsinki. Jusque là pas de problème je connais un peu et je peux me débrouiller. Après une courte pause à en Finlande le temps de tout remettre à neuf... je compte traverser d'Helsinki à Tallin en Estonie puis de là traverser la Lettonie et la Lituanie, le tout en visitant des trucs sympa. Au sud de la Lituanie, avant d'arriver à l'enclave Russe de Kaliningrad, je veux prendre un ferry de Klaipéda jusqu'à Sassnitz en Allemagne (ancienne RDA) pas loin de Rostock (150km ) . De là descendre tranquillement vers Berlin où je passerai deux où trois jours. Ensuite retour vers la France par des petites routes de balades puis vers mon port d'attache qui est Tours (37)
Je compte faire des étapes de maxi 350 km jour. En fait rouler une longue matinée et me poser pour l'après-midi et la soirée. Trajet : 10/12 jours pour "monter" à Helsinki et pareil d'Helsinki à Tours.
C'est sur la section retour que j'aurai besoin d'infos concernant les pays baltes. Merci d'avance. Et puis si ça tente quelqu'un de partir en avec moi, on peut en parler!
J'ai vendu mon 600 Djebel il y a une bonne dizaine d'années malheureusement 🙁 mais je sillone régulièrement les pays baltes en voiture, à pied ou en bus, et plus particulèrement l'Estonie où je me rends 3 à 4 fois par an.
Pour le ferry depuis l'Allemagne, le Rostock- Ventspils devrait être en service et te mener à la point de la Lettonie.
En Estonie, il n'y a aucune autoroute et les voies rapides se comptent sur le bout des doigts. Il reste donc majoritairement des axes plus ou moins goudronnés. Dès que l'on sort de l'axe Tallinn- Tartu, Tallinn- Pärnu ou Tallinn-Narva, il faut s'attendre à trouver des routes qui finissent en queue de boudin, piste ou chemin de terre plus ou moins praticables. Si tu as une routière pure et dure, pas hyper top.
La circulation à Riga est très dense effectivement. J'ai jusqu'à présent évité Vilnius, je ne peux pas en parler. Quand à la circulation à Tallinn, je la compare à celle que l'on peut trouver à certaines heures de pointe en France dans des villes comme Grenoble, Clermont-Ferrand ou Bordeaux.
Je pars fin Aout pour le etre a kaliningrad le 10 aout et le 20 a narva en Estonie .
Ou seras tu a ces dates ??
Sinon on se tapera une bouf et un bout de route ....

mon idée est d'arriver par le sud de la lituanie (si je me décide pour la route) ou par l'ouest (si je prends le ferry à klaipedia) vers le 8/9 aout puis de remonter vers le nord jusqu'à Tallinn en 1 semaine/& semaine 1/2 avant de redescendre en "feuille morte" en suivant la cote baltique avant de rentrer sur Paris.
Donc, si tu remontes vers l'Estonie ça pourrais le faire.
Par contre, je veux éviter Kaliningrad (question de visa).
Penses tu qu'au niveau hotellerie, ce soit possible de partir sans s'embarasser de réservation (je prefererais voyager sans plan préconçu) ?

Je suis tres intéressée par ce que tu as fait car avec mon copain nous souhaiterions y aller en mai-juin 2011 en moto (Ténéré pour le moment).
J'ai eu l'occasion de visiter Riga et je suis tombé sous le charme. Du coup, j'aimerai en découvrir davantage.
Rien est encore défini (nous avons encore du temps) mais nous avons pensé passer par Berlin, Pologne, visiter les Pays Baltes, peut etre St Petersbourg et faire le retour par Stockholm (ville que je connais et aime beaucoup).
Ca me ferait plaisir que tu partages ton expérience.

Oui je vous vous encourage pour ce voyage car de mon coté j'en garde d'innombrable souvenirs... Et de plus ils sont super les gens là bas .
Pour les pays Baltes je te conseille au sud la peninsule qui mene à Kaliningrad car ce parc naturel est trés joli et au nord de l'Estonies les 3 iles de Saaremaa ainsi que Tallin ETC....

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.
