Honestly, taking the train in Sri Lanka is no walk in the park. Between tickets disappearing in minutes, platforms that aren’t always very clear, and that infamous “full” sign displayed weeks in advance, you quickly feel like you’re playing the lottery. There’s even a real black market for tickets on the island: some seats are resold at higher prices through middlemen or agencies, which makes things even trickier. Everyone knows someone who knows someone who sells tickets. But we learned the hard way that this isn’t the safest way to get them, and we had to find another solution at the last minute.

We definitely went through a bit of an obstacle course to manage the booking. But once on the train, riding through the tea plantations between Kandy and Ella, we understood why everyone raves about it. Tea plantations, misty mountains, little bridges, and breathtaking valleys. To make the most of the scenery on the Kandy → Ella route, it’s best to sit on the right side of the train (and on the left if you’re going Ella → Kandy). As for the class, 2nd class reserved is, in our opinion, the best compromise: authentic vibe, open windows and doors, but with a guaranteed seat. Remember to pack enough water, snacks, and toilet paper for this 7-hour journey that somehow flies by.

I’ve just returned from an immersive trip to the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, where I had the chance to visit the villages of Bheeyasar and Bhoyasar. Here’s what stood out to me:

The simplicity and authenticity of rural life, with incredibly warm and welcoming locals. A weaver keeping an ancient craft alive, reminiscent of some African artisanal traditions. A camel ride through the dunes, surrounded by peaceful silence and stunning landscapes. And a magical encounter with peacocks in full display 🦚—an unforgettable sight!

The cradle of humanity, Africa is also the continent where I was born. My childhood was lulled by the call of the muezzin and the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The colors and light of Morocco remain etched in my heart forever.

As soon as I had the chance, I crossed the desert to meet Black Africa, whose imprint is very present in the Maghreb, a legacy of caravans and trans-Saharan migrations. My steps first took me to West Africa, exuberant, rich in encounters and sharing. Later, East Africa allowed me to glimpse another facet of this multifaceted continent. The beauty of the Ethiopians, whose country lies at the heart of human history, the complexity of Malagasy culture—a mix of the different peoples who have landed on the island—the Rwandan people, wounded but capable of resilience...





It was through India that I discovered Asia. Nourished by teenage readings about the hippie trail, I had always dreamed of one day exploring this mysterious country. My first solo travel experience was in Rajasthan, trekking on the roof of the world. I only returned when my son was a teenager, not wanting to expose him too young to the chaos of this disorienting country.

In the meantime, we traveled together through Vietnam, then Thailand and Laos, and finally Myanmar. Later, I returned alone to Cambodia and more recently to Indonesia. Safe and budget-friendly destinations, the routes of Southeast Asia also have the downside of becoming increasingly crowded.

But one can't help being enchanted by the architectural heritage, the temples, the landscapes, and the ever-present spirituality. When you take the time, Asia gradually reveals itself.

Un retour de notre voyage en inde du sud. Nous sommes parties avec une agence locale de Chennai (Bas and Das Turism) et un chauffeur particulier Sathish, que je vous recommande il parle un peu français. Pour préparer le voyage nous avons échangé plusieurs mails et une fois d'accord sur le prix, l'itinéraire il n'y a pas eu d'embrouilles. Ce serait à refaire j'enlèverai une ou deux destinations (Varkala trop babacool et touristique par exemple) pour suivre en détail notre parcours nous avons tenu un blog journalier, l'adresse plus bas. En tout cas un super voyage, on a adoré le Tamil Nadu et sa population, n'hésitez pas, par contre si vous souhaitez vous déplacer en voiture, je déconseille la location, faite travailler un chauffeur, la conduite est vraiment spéciale.

Bonjour à tous, Nous venons de faire notre 3ème voyage en Inde (6 semaines, cette fois-ci). Nous sommes allés à Mathura et Vrindavan, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Orchha, Chanderi, Bhopal et Sanchi, Mandu, Maheshwar, Omkareshwar, Jalgaon et Ajanta Caves, Aurangabad et Ellora Caves, Mumbai et enfin Gokarna... Nous avons voyagé en transports en commun, bus ou train, sauf un taxi pour aller d'Orchha à Chanderi , une excursion en taxi à Sanchi à partir de Bhopal... et encore taxi pour aller de Gokarna à l'aéroport de Goa, le dernier jour.
