Location Map of Casablanca
Overview
Casablanca isn’t a major tourist hotspot, so the city can be explored in about half a day. Given their proximity, Casablanca and Rabat can even be combined into a single visit, with either city serving as your base.
Districts
New Town of Casablanca
Moroccan Casablanca was just a small town of 20,000 inhabitants when the French arrived in 1907. They built a spacious colonial city, laid out with grand boulevards, around the present-day United Nations Square.

Aïn Diab District in Casablanca
This is the city’s other major attraction. Located beyond the port and the old medina, the Boulevard de la Corniche leads to a string of luxury hotels and oceanfront beaches. It’s where locals head in summer to escape the heat or enjoy the district’s restaurants.

Sites, monuments, and architectural landmarks
Old Medina of Casablanca
It's easy to find your way around the walled old town; the streets are relatively wide and clear. The medina is small enough that you won’t get lost.

New Medina of Casablanca
In the southeast of the city, in the Habous district, the French built the new medina in the 1930s. With its narrow, well-ordered streets, it is an "improved" version of traditional Moroccan architecture.

Hassan II Grand Mosque
On the Atlantic shore, its minaret towers over the waterfront, especially at night when a laser beam from its summit points toward Mecca. This "mega-mosque" is the second-largest after the one in Mecca. All the annex buildings, from Quranic schools to underground car parks, share the same monumental scale.
