Voila, je souhaiterais avoir quelques petits bonus de la part des "forumeurs" pour mon voyage à New York du 5 au 15 février 2010.
Je voulais donc savoir les coins à absolument ne pas rater, les endroits les plus avantageux pour faire un peu de shopping, pour voir des spectacles si possibles.
Je me suis procuré le guide Michelin NY qui a l'air pas mal, mais je souhaiterais tout de même des avis des personnes du forum ayant séjourné sur place.
Etant étudiant nous aurons à peu près 1500€ par personne pour la durée de notre séjour, je voulais savoir si cela était suffisant par ailleurs.
Nous logerons à l'hotel Wellington pas très loin de central park et quelques petites infos sur le fonctionnement du métro ne serait pas de trop car étant du sud de la France (Var), le métro je n'ai jamais connut malheuresement...
Pour le shopping tu as Macy's, le plus grand magasin du monde comme il s'est proclamé. De supers affaires, les nouvelles collections, pour info j'ai acheté des polos Tommy Hilfiger à 39 $, un gilet Ralph Lauren à 40 $, Hugo Boss; Calvin Klein, Lacoste etc
Tu as 7 ou 8 étages que des marques: de la parfumerie aux sacs en passant par les chaussures.
Pour les filles, les parfums sont beaucoup moins chers , 20 euros en moyenne sur des parfums français!
Après tu as la 5th avenue, Soho( American Eagle, Abercrombie, Hollister, Aeropostal, Old Navy etc etc, Century 21( bonnes affaires mais sur les anciennes collections).
Sincèrement nous au niveau shopping on s'est vraiment fait plaisir lol
Le métro c'est très simple, tu achètes la metrocard a 27$ et c'est illimité pour une semaine( bus, métro et même téléphérique!).
Après faut juste repérer où tu vas, si tu vas Downtown(vers le bas: Wall Street etc) tu suis Downtown et si tu vas Uptown(vers le haut, Harlem etc) tu suis Uptown.
Ensuite tu as des lignes Express qui s'arrêtent uniquement aux stations principales, et les lignes "Local" où tous les arrêts sont effectués.

Je crois que tu peux pas l'acheter en avance. De toute façon c'est très simple, tu vas aux automates situés à chaque station , tu choisis sur l'écran tu paies et voilà.
tu as le plan détaillé quartier par quartier c'est vraiment très bien, ainsi qu'un plan du métro et des bus.
De toute façon le métro new yorkais est très simple j'ai trouvé, et si jamais tu doutes, les new yorkais bien que citadins sont toujours là pour te renseigner.
1500 $ d'argent de poche c'est cool, franchement nous on était deux nanas on a vraiment fait de supers affaires, pour nous lol et pour mon frère et mon père.

Concernant le Citypass quelqu'un saurait si on se le procure sur place et est ce qu'il est valable pour la statue de la liberté-rockfeller-empire state building ??
Pour le city pass il comprend l'entrée au MET, au MOMA, au Guggenheim, la montée à l'Empire State, le bateau pour la statue de la Liberté + musée d'Ellis Island et l'entrée au Muséum d'histoires naturelles.

Encore un autre question 😊, pour le shuttle c'est le moyen le plus rapide et "facile" pour aller de l'aéroport à l'hôtel, j'ai lu sur d'autre post qu'il y avait des téléphones dispo dans les terminal ou pareil on pouvait aussi le reserver sur le net...
Oui je pense mais est ce le prix pour une personne, car l'écart est quand même important avec le shuttle 20$, après si l'on prend le taxi à 2 le prix de la course nous sera compté en fonction de et sera majoré ?
Nope c'est le prix de la course, que tu sois seul ou à 5.
Mais bon franchement , moi je dis chapeau à ceux qui prennent les transports en commun après un vol ou au retour.
Là tu sautes dans le taxi et il te pose devant ta porte, c'est la panacée je trouve.
Donc pour toi et ta copine ça sera 60$ tout compris. 30$ par personne mais tu gagnes du temps, car si dans le shuttle tu es le dernier arrêt pour ton hôtel, tu vas faire du shuttle dans Manhattan pendant des heures.
Le taxi, 30-40 mn après tu es au comptoir de l'hôtel.
Et je viens de penser qu'il faut donner un tip au chauffeur donc rajoute 5 $ ça te fait donc 25$ par personne, pour 5 $ de plus c'est plus rapide, moins fatiguant...
Oué effectivement je pense que c'est la meilleur solution, c'est cool de payé le prix que de la course et non pas au nombre de personne, j'y vais avec un pote ça m'évitera de raqué pour lui lol (la galanterie ne marche pas entre mec 😎 ) donc pour 5-10$ de plus c'est mieux jtrouve, en plus on pourra profiter du voyage dans le fameux taxi jaune.

Nous on est allés voir Mary Poppins j'ai réussi à trouver des places à 50 euros par personne sur le net.
Moins cher c'est quasi impossible.
Après sur place tu peux aller à un guichet TKTS sur Times Square, où ils vendent des billets avec de bonnes réductions( pour le soir même ou le lendemain) mais bon c'est deux heures de queue minimum et je crois que quand on est NY on a autre chose à faire que faire la queue!😎😛
La comédie musicale c'est à faire c'est vraiment sympa. Mary Poppins c'était bien, bon nous sommes deux filles, mais pour voir, pourquoi ne pas aller voir le Roi Lion?
Oui su je peut les prendre sur le net c'est mieux, les queues c'est pas trop mon truc surtout quand elle sont interminable et dans le froid 😄.
Après sur le site qui vend les citypass ils vendent des places pour le spectacle du rond lion qui a l'air vraiment pas mal effectivement, à 85€ tu trouve le prix raisonnable ou faut il que je tente ma chance sur place ?

Etant donné que tu à l'air assez calé 😉, tu pense que c'est possible de passer une journée à Washington pour visiter la Maison Blanche et Capitole etc. ??

Tu aurais quelques infos sur les balades en hélico j'ai vu qu'il y en avait qui était proposé sur certains site notamment HeliNY, A Taste of New York Helicopter Tour, New York City Sightseeing Helicopter Rides.
Il propose des prix assez abordable je trouve 140$ pour 12 minutes de vols. Tu a déjà essayé et si oui lol, tu aura une compagnie à me proposer, je pense aussi que dans ce cas il faut s'y prendre un moment à l'avance.

En fait tu te présentes à l'héliport, tu dis que tu veux réserver un vol pour le lendemain, que tu as un bon de réduction de 10% mais que tu ne l'as pas sur toi.
A chaque fois on va te proposer le méga tour de 30 mn pour le prix du tour de 12 mn.
Donc nous on a payé 166$( avec les taxes) chacune pour un tour de 30 mn et c'est SENSATIONNEL!
On est remontés jusqu'au Bronx, survoler le Yankees Stadium, puis passage au dessus du NY, quand tu vois la skyline c'est superbe.
Ensuite passage au dessus de la statue, de Staten Island, Ellis Island et retour à la base.
Magnifique. C'est un budget mais c'est à faire (surtout avec l'astuce 😛)
Pourquoi font ils cela vont demander les plus sceptiques?
Parce que là le client est là, donc il paie il fait son tour et il part.
S'il veut juste réserver, ils ont une chance sur deux de ne plus revoir le prospect donc perte de chiffre d'affaires.
Dans l'hélico on était 7, pilote compris.
2 ont eu la promo comme nous, 2 ont payé plein pot le tour de 30 mn.

Salut, pas de panique pour le métro c HYPER SIMPLE ta le down et le UP tu a des plans a ta disposition un peu partout dans les métro moi qui comprend absolument rien a l'anglais je m'en sort comme ici !
Tu prend up pour remonté et down pour descendre c'était une de mes hantises avant de partir la bas pour la 1ere fois et sa a était comme sur des roulettes ou des rails (lol)
Les cartes son dispo au guichet ta un type qui en vend au point d'info notamment sur time square si je me souvient bien (tu dois descendre dans le métro et le guichet est devant le barrage)
Tu peut aussi t'en procurer une sur la 8eme ave n°640 au bureau harlem spiritual gospel tours et on parle français
Magasin : Century 21 un magasin qui vend les ancienne collections des grandes marques a -65% du retail!

a ne pas rater beh les classiques quoi la statue de la liberté (ferry gratuit) tu passe devant c amplement suffisant, l'empire state building 19$ pour monter sur la plate forme tout en haut, top of the rock du rockfeiller pour avoir une vue sur central park hors du commun, chinatown, harlem, little italy, brooklyn bridge, une messe gospel dans harlem le mercredi en général et le dimanche

J'avais acheté les billets en août donc on avait encore le droit à deux valises de 23 kg par personne.
Maintenant le second bagage est à 50 euros donc ça reste raisonnable.

Salut j'ai une autre petite question qui me taraude l'esprit lol
Concernant la monnaie est il préférable de faire le change à ma banque ici avant de partit (délai 1 semaine) ou de faire moitié moitié genre changé une partie de l'argent ici (pour ne pas avoir trop d'argent sur soit) et le reste le retirer dans un DAB à New York, mais je voulais aussi savoir donc si il y avait des bureaux de change un peu partout à NY, leurs commissions, si la devises était faible par rapport à ici etc...
Salut bein moi j'ai pris un vol A/R Nice - NY (vol direct pour les 2, sans escales donc), Vol avec Air France mais opéré par Delta Air Lines. Le prix était de 480€ A/R
OK, nous nous avons pris un vol Paris/New york avec une escale d'1 h à londres (British airways) au prix de 398 euros par pers. J'espère qu'il n'y aura pas de problème pour décharger les bagages le temps du changement d'appareil, j'ai lu des messages où des voyageurs se plaignaient de cette compagnie...
Il va faire très froid en fev (je crois que c'est le mois le plus froid à NY). Si tu cherches un resto où on mange bien, j'ai une adresse.
Oui j'ai préféré rajouter un peu plus et avoir un vol direct, j'ai tout fait à partir d'ebookers avec le vol+hôtel, vu que c'est mon premier voyage outre atlantique je voulais prendre mes précautions on va dire 🙂
Après concernant le climat ça va me changer de la côte d'azur, déjà que là il fait 5° j'ai l'impression d'être au pôle Nord, donc je redoute ce mois de février, mais bon pas grave la joie d'être sur place va me réconforter on va dire, après je prendrais une bonne veste, écharpe et paire de gants et ça devrait le faire.
Concernant le résto ça serait cool, je part un peu à l'aveuglette donc une bonne adresse ce n'est pas de refus 🙂
Le resto c'est "Chez Josephine", c'est pas très loin de times square, j'y suis allée il y a 20 ans : c'est le fils adoptif de josephine baker qui dirige cet établissement (très sympathique, j'ai mangé les meilleurs steaks de ma vie), en plus ils parlent français. Regarde sur tripadvisor, il n'y a que des avis positifs, il y a également un site si tu veux voir les menious et les prix. (pour ma part, j'y retourne lors de mon séjour new-yorkais de fev !)
Ah merci c'est Cool, je serais pas trop dépaysé dans ce cas là, en plus ça doit pas être très loin de mon Hôtel (Wellington).
Il est très bien ce site, j'ai eut pas mal de petites astuces et coins à visités de la part des forumeurs c'est géniale, j'y vais avec moins d'appréhension désormais.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

After years of hoping, waiting, planning, then changing, saving, and searching for the best possible route... we're FINALLY off this summer for a 5-week road trip in the West.
I had planned a trip to Colorado in 2021 but canceled due to COVID, so with time passing and my eldest’s high school graduation approaching fast, I figured it was now or never!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
