AIRPORT LINK - Enregistrement possible des bagages à Makkasan .
L'enregistrement des bagages pour les passagers des compagnies Thai Airways et Bangkok Airways est désormais possible à la station de métro aérien (Airport link) de Makkasan située près des avenues Petchburi et Ayutthaya, dans le centre de Bangkok. Mis en service en août dernier, l’Airport link relie le centre de la capitale à l'aéroport Suvarnabhumi.
Thai Airways a assuré que son service d'enregistrement serait opérationnel de 8 heures du matin à 21 heures et que les passagers pourront venir déposer leurs bagages entre 3 et 12 heures avant leur vol. Le lancement de ce dispositif a coïncidé avec l'augmentation des prix du trajet. Dorénavant, l'Express Line, qui permet de rallier Makkasan à Suvarnabhumi en 15 minutes sans marquer d’arrêt, coûtera 150 bahts contre 100 auparavant ; le tarif de la City Line, qui fait le parcours en 30 minutes avec 8 arrêts, variera entre 15 et 45 bahts selon la longueur du trajet.
Les critiques qui remarquent la frequentation toujours modeste de l'Express line, estiment que le tarif de 150 bahts risque de dissuader nombre de voyageurs, notamment les groupes pour qui le taxi reste finalement moins cher. Le nombre de bus et de taxis devrait néanmoins être augmenté à la station Makkasan. Un meilleur affichage des horaires de vols est également prévu afin de faciliter la correspondance entre les vols et les transports.
De plus, les travaux d'une passerelle piétonne entre la station de métro Phetchaburi et Makkasan devraient débuter en avril ou mai. Quant aux stations de Ratchaprarop, Hua Mak et Phaya Thai, elles devraient pouvoir bénéficier d'escalators vers le milieu de l'année, selon la compagnie des Chemins de fer thaïlandais.

Tu sors a Makhassan et ensuite tu prends le BTS ou le taxi ( 80 baht )
Le prix du City Line est desormais de 45 Baht en aller simple et 150 Baht aller simple sans arrets.
je les testé jeudi super moyen de locomotion je venais de national stadium un pti coup de bts jusqu'à paya thai et me voila dans le city line fini les bouchons !
après une petite similitude sur le fabricant de cette rame avec la rame sur CGD même si la city est plus imposante et desserve plus de station
Pourquoi conseilles tu de descendre à Makassan pour Koasan road au lieu de descendre à Phaya Thai (le terminus du city Link donc) puis de là prendre un taxi? N'est-on pas plus prochie de Kao san?

pour la gare il y a un arret sur le city line ou je sors à makassan aussi ? je n'ai pas trop le sens de l'orientation.. peut tu me briefer sur le reperage metro à bangkok, je suppose qu'il y a un arret gare hualong?
En tout cas , 20 mn , c'est génial , ça me laisse du temps pour me balader aurour de la gare , si j'arrive à avoir mes billets

Le Métro de Bangkok très agéable de le prendre aucun soucis , tu peux presque manger par terre tellement que c'est propre et les gens se bouscule pas , pas de tags rien à voir avec le métro de Paris .

Sécurité maximum, car des caméras partout, des gardes partout, enfin, bref, c'est très surveillé, ce que je trouve très bien. Dans tous les cas, à Bangkok je n'ai jamais ressenti un besoin d'être en sécurité.
Rien à voir avec Paris. A Bangkok, le métro est un havre de paix.

Pour KSR :
Makhassan puis tu rejoins le métro direction la gare, terminus Hua Lamphong et ensuite un taxi.
Moi je déconseille le City Line, car lent, et beaucoup de marche à pied (avec les valises bof bof). Je conseille toujours le taxi, plus rapide, pas cher, et livraison à domicile ! Dans la ville qui est réputée pour ses milliers de taxi à toute heure, pour presque rien, je trouve dommage de ne pas en profiter.
Le city Line me fait faire mon trajet chez moi - aéroport en 1H30, le taxi en 30 minutes... (sans valises, et j'habite à seulement 2 stations de métro du City Line)
Mais ce n'est que mon avis, chacun fait bien comme il veut.
je pense quand meme que le city line plus metro c'est moins cher non? 45b le ct c'est pas cher! et pas de grosses valises, juste mon sac a dos 45 L !!! et puis toi tu connais, donc tu sais si tu te fais arnaquer, promener, le tarif réel, le bon chemin sans détour....🙂

350 a 400 THB maxi tout inclus ( péages et surcharge)
En fait tout dépend avec combien de personnes tu voyages, en groupe ou en famille un taxi sera plus approprié pour le prix et les bagages, en individuel ou en couple, le problème se pose différemment 😉 Si tu as juste un sac a dos ou 15000 bagages, tu voyages pas pareil 😛

Salut Barbot et merci pour ton plan. J'ai déjà pris le City-line jusqu'à Makkasan en janvier 2011 pour 35 baht, le prix de cette période.
Je voudrais savoir comment rejoindre Makkasan à la station Petchaburi pour prendre l'autre métro pour aller sur Sukhumvit, à pied, loin, liaison, etc.

Très simple tu suis la foule comme j'ai fait en novembre dernier pour la première fois et en plus pas indiquer en novembre dernier because tout nouveau donc d'ici janvier 2012 pas de soucis plus facile , environ 7 ou 8 minutes à pieds à l'aise sans courir mais à mon avis d'ici janvier prochain il y aura une connexion de correspondance pas de soucis . 😉

La liaison Makassan - Petchaburi est bien indiquée à la sortie du train.
Le staff de la station Makassan ont le reflexe d'indiquer la direction MRT aux falangs.
Tu descends 2 escalators et tu te retrouves dehors ... tu suis les panneaux MRT accrochés sur des piliers en béton...tu tournes à droite et tu traverses une petite voie ferrée... continue tout droit et sur le meme trottoir il y a l'entree de la station Petchaburi.
En tout 3min.
A l'entrée, il y aura un gardien de securité qui te demandera d'ouvrir ta valise pour la contoler... evite de mettre des spays en vue ... sinon il te les confisquera !
Mais je te rassure, meme si tu es paumée entre le transfert City line/ MRT il y aura toujours qq un pour te guider.
Je confirme aurelie, j'ai fait cette liaison au début du moins, c'est pas très dur.
Autre indication: une fois dehors, tu auras au dessus de ta tête la ligne aérienne que tu as prise pour venir de l'aéroport. Tu remontes à contre sens, jusqu'au carrefour. Au carrefour, tu prends sur ta droite.

Quand tu sors de la station Makassan et que tu arrives dehors sous la voie, tu marches 3 min pour rejoindre la bouche de métro...
Si tu veux savoir la durée totale entre la sortie du wagon city Line et la bouche de metro Petchaburi compte environ 6-7min effectivement.
Apres tout depend de tes enjambées ! 😉
Mais ne t'inquiete pas, la correspondance est facile et bien indiquée.
J'y etais la semaine derniere.
J'ai utlisé à deux reprises (depuis l'aéroport et depuis le centre de Bangkok) la nouvelle ligne... Super efficace, rapide. Rien à voir avec les transports en commun en France : propre, sécurisé, serein.
Et puis pour le changement, un jeune homme thaï a fait le chemin avec moi jusqu'à la station de métro...
Pour le changement, c'est hard pour ceux qui ont de lourds babages, la chaleur, et faut un peu marcher. Mais avec un sac à dos, no souci.
Très bien pour les personnes qui voyagent seules car économiquement c'est rentable.
Par contre à deux ou plus, autant prendre le taxi bien sur.
Cette nouvelle liason vers l'aéroport est géniale, car vraiment je ne supporte pas bouger à Bangkok en taxi, trop de bouchons, c'est l'horreur. Je déteste, c'est pénible. A Bangkok la voiture tient la première place et ça me gonfle. C'est vraiment la chose que je déteste, la seule chose (?) que je déteste en Thaïlande : la circulation à Bangkok !
Salut Cézanne, dont comme tu le dis ce n'est donc pas la 1ère fois que tu viens en Thailande. Moi j'y viens depuis 1985 et j'y retourne. C'est vrai la pollution à BKK c'est infernal mais les odeurs( toutes, nourritures, ambiances, coins sympas, petits bistrots, marchés, mais il faut flâner et c'est génial, ne pas oublier le soir ou il y a des petits cannis au bord des routes(polluées, mais ça sent bon, les gens y mangent), don j'y reste toujour 1 semaine à BKK pendant mes vacances.

Tout à fait d'accord, il y a une telle ambiance à Bangkok, c'est dingue... Les marchés de nuit, toutes les odeurs, toutes les possibilités de manger tout et n'importe quoi dans la rue. Et puis, je ne m'y sens pas en insécurité.
Il y a un truc dingue dans cette ville qu'on ne retrouve nulle part ailleurs en Europe !
Je ne reste jamais assez longtemps en Thaïlande pour y consacrer une semaine entière à Bangkok !
Désormais lorsque je passe par Bangkok, j'aime me prendre une chambre dans un quartier "calme" à proximité d'une station de métro et la possibilité de prendre les navettes sur le fleuve. J'évite au maximum de monter dans un taxi (ce n'est pas une question économique, mais les bouchons qui me stressent).
J'aime pas mal un petit quartier dans le coin de Lumphini, bons restaurants, le marché de Lumphini, le métro, la gare toute proche...
Mais c'est vrai, plus j'effectue de voyages en Thaïlande moins je m'attarde à Bangkok... Il m'arrive même d'atterrir à Bangkok pour enchaîner directement mon itninéraire (bus ou avion pour le Nord).
Cependant je m'arrange toujours pour passer par Chatuchak week end market, j'adore.
En quelques heures je fais mes achats, cadeaux, etc. Il y a toujours des trucs inattendus et plaisants à acheter!

A Sukhumvit, tu seras obligé de sortir à l'extérieur pour prendre le métro à Asoke.

Baisse du tarif du ticket 90 bahts au lieu de 150 bahts l'aller et le billet aller/retour 150 bahts au lieu de 300 bahts pour le trajet de l'aéroport jusqu'à Makassan , cela à partir du 1er juin pendant 6 mois .
Because le succès tant attendu n'est pas au RDV à cause du tarif trop élevé .

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.

I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

If you’ve had the experience—and since I’ve read (though it’s not very clear) that these two islands get quite crowded during this period—would you recommend booking accommodation well in advance, or is it easy to find something on the spot?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??
