Les transports en commun de Miami Beach sont réputés pour être très lents, alors prépare-toi à passer pas mal de temps dans le bus.
A Miami Beach, si tu recherches de l'ambiance et de l'animation, c'est du côté de South Beach que ça se passe.
Le nord, c'est plutôt le calme plat. Hé oui, c'est pas pour rien que les hôtels sont un peu moins chers.
Du côté de South Beach, on trouve des parkings à partir de 1$ / l'heure. C'est tout à fait raisonnable je trouve.
Alors essaie bien peser le pour et le contre 😛😎

Voici mon expérience de deux semaines en Floride l'année dernière (en Mai) 🙂
Nous sommes arrivés à Miami et avons passé deux nuits sur Ocean Drive (Penguin Hotel, Ocean drive / 14th street) -> pas de location de voiture ces deux premiers jours. Au programme marche à pieds dans South Beach pour visiter le quartier Art déco, enfin entre autres, on a beaucoup bougé ! 😉 Lincoln Road et son centre commercial de plein air, Collins Avenue, South Pointe Park tout au bout de South Beach. Pour le dîner nous avons opté pour le Front Porch cafe qui se trouvait à l'époque en bas de notre hôtel et qui a aujourd'hui déménagé quelques mètres plus loin au pied du Z hôtel je crois bien (Prix raisonnables et assiettes bien pleines et bonnes !). Bref je crois que si vous commencez votre séjour par South Beach il n'est pas forcément nécessaire de louer une voiture.
Nous en avons loué une le 3ème jour pour partir sur Key West pour 2 jours (immanquable) avec quelques petits arrêts le long des différentes Keys (de multitudes de parcs à voir). Nous étions logés à Key West au Inn at Key West, un peu excentré mais très sympa. La concierge de l'hôtel, qui donne plein de conseils pour les visites notamment, nous a indiqué où nous garer à moindre frais dans Key West (et pour toute la journée sans avoir à revenir payer un parcmètre), une dame de très bon conseil 😉 Alors n'hésitez pas à demander les bons plans à la réception de votre hôtel.
Sur le chemin du retour vers Miami nous nous sommes arrêtés à Key Largo, je vous recommande le Harriette's à Key Largo si vous passez par là à l'heure du petit déjeuner !
Bien entendu vous ne manquerez pas de passer par les Everglades, c'est impressionnant de passer de la vie grouillante et moderne de Miami Beach à ce vaste parc sauvage (et grouillant aussi !).
Ensuite notre périple nous a mené vers la côte Est, à Naples sur le golf du mexique (2 jours également), plages magnifiques !
Puis retour à Miami pour les 6 derniers jours et là nous avons gardé notre véhicule pour pouvoir aller et venir notamment à Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, Coconut groves, Bay harbour, Downtown.... Je crois que le véhicule est indispensable si vous voulez voir ces autres quartiers de Miami, les distances sont assez importantes tout de même, alors en bus... bon courage ! De plus ce véhicule nous a permis de partir le long de la côte voir Fort Lauderdale et Palm Beach (un autre monde ! 😎). Alors oui bien sûr il fallait payer le parking de l'hôtel mais au final ce n'est pas le poste qui nous est revenu le pus cher et nous étions contents d'avoir notre voiture quand nous en avions envie. Question circulation je crois qu'on a eu de la chance, nous n'avons pas rencontré de gros problèmes de bouchons, à part une fois en remontant Ocean drive mais bon, pour un certains nombres de frimeurs c'est "the place to be" avec la voiture de luxe alors...! lol
Pour tout dire en 15 jours j'ai eu un peu l'impression de courir alors quand je vois que vous comptez faire Key West mais aussi Orlando en 10 jours, je me dis que ça va être un séjour sportif 😉

Je doute aussi que tu restes toute la journée, du matin au soir en ville. C'est pas mal de revenir à l'hôtel pour se changer ou faire une pause.

De toute façon tout m'a plu, c'était mon premier séjour aux Etats-Unis, j'avais tellement envie d'y aller que je n'ai pas été déçue par quoi que ce soit, je ne suis pas objective ! 😄😄
Niveau plage j'ai adoré Naples, Fort Lauderdale était sympa aussi à mon goût. Quant à Miami Beach, ça reste mytique, c'est Miami Beach quoi quand même ! lol J'ai aimé la "tranche de vie" que cette plage représente le Dimanche, avec toutes les familles venues camper pour la journée avec un attirail incroyable ! Et à côté de ça les photographes qui font leur shooting, deux mondes différents réunis au même endroit 😉

Pour key west une journée, non merci, 2 jours c'est mieux...sinon pour moi sud Floride c'est les everglades toute la cote d'est, key west, et pourquoi la cote du golfe du Mexique, d'ailleurs quelqu'un connait ?

Quitte a faire 8000km en avion, on peux bien faire 250 km pour aller a Naples histoire de ne pas regretter ! Les journées seront longues et les nuits courtes 😎
Il est pas encore tout a fait défini dans le détail, mais les principales choses à faire sur place sont calés : Miami beach, Miami, fort Lauderdale, everglades, key west !!!
Le sable est plus blanc, c'est relativement moins urbanisé, les plages sont moins bétonnées, la mer est plus calme et plus chaude; Il y reste des endroits plus "sauvages"
On y parle moins français. Les Québecquois ont tendance à se regrouper au Nord de Miami (North Beach, Hallandale, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Palm beach) mais c'est plutôt en hiver.
Par contre, le risque d'y retrouver les algues rouges déjà citée par mon ami TOPPICH (très désagréable) est plus grand

L'eau est en effet plus agréable. J'adore Sanibel et Captiva Island.
Je conseille à tout le monde la marche sur la plage pour atteindre la pointe de Captiva. Une balade très agréable le soir avant le coucher de soleil
Jusqu'à Clearwater beach environ tu trouveras de belles plages de sable clair.
Après Clearwater et à partir de Tarpon springs il n'y a presque plus que des marécages jusqu'à la crystal river.
La région de Homosassa est très agréable et totalement différente de la partie sud-est de la Floride.
Les activités tournent autour des rivières aux eaux très claires dans lesquelles tu peux te baigner, faire du Kayak ou du "Tube" (Une sorte de grosse bouée sur laquelle tu poses tes fesses et tu te laisses emporter doucement sur les eaux).
Une vrai merveille cette région. Les Lamentins (Manatees) sont très présents dans la culture des habitants de ce bout de la Floride. Tu peux aller à leur rencontre (Si tu as la chance de les croiser dans des eaux claires).
Entre Tarpon Springs et Homosassa tu trouveras Weeki Watchee (Le royaume des sirènes). C'est assez Kitch, mais c'est une immersion totale dans la Floride des années 60 ! Moi j'ai adoré 😎
Sans hésitation, ce sera le premier endroit où je retournerais en Floride ! 😉
je confirme, circuler à Miami, juillet c'est top ! la première fois que je suis allée en Floride je suis restée 3 jours à Miami et avec la voiture, j'ai fait les Keys, les Everglades, Sarasota, Orlando, Daytona Beach et retour Miami, le tout sur 25 jours. J'avais loué (et comme chaque année depuis 6 ans) chez e-locations de voitures. Cette année, je repars en Floride, j'ai loué un Dodge Caravan pour 3semaines complètes kilom illimité et 2 conducteurs avec un plein gratuit, j'en ai pour 731 euros. TTC.
lorsque je fais une halte à Miami dorénavant je vais toujours au Best Western : Atlantic Beach Resort rapport qualité prix top et sur la plage...
De belles villas cachées par la végétation, une circulation à 30M/h et des plages ou il a pas un arbre et quand il fait chaud çà cogne
Certes pour les longues ballades sur la plage c'est le top, mais ça on peux le faire partout
Pensez surtout à prendre des boissons fraiches dans la glacière car sur place pas de bar de plage, ni de marchand de glace

Nous sommes 3 jeunes de 21 et 22 ans, nous partons fin juillet a North Bay Village ou sera notre hotel
Nous restont 7 jours complet (on part le soir du 7ème jour) nous avons prevus de voir les choses suivantes :

Visite touristique de Miami en bus à arrêts multiples
Visite de la ville de Miami et visite des Everglades en hydroglisseur

Nous comptons biensure sortir le soir en boite, j'ai pus voir qu'il y avais des boite de nuit a North bay village où est notre hotel mais on pensait allé plus sur Miami Beach. Quand-dite-vous ?
nous aurions bien voulus faire également un parc d'attraction comme Disneyland j'en ai vu un a Orlando mais beaucoup trop loing pour y allé vus que nous restons dans le meme hotel toute la semaine.
Chose importante, malheuresement personne d'entre nous avons le permis donc on prevoit de se déplacer en Bus (j'ai vus qu'il y avais des bus qui passé pas loing de l'hotel) soit en taxi (sachant qu'on divisera le prix par trois)
Que pensez vous du programme ? Penser vous qu'on devrais voir autre chose immenquable ? (j'ai pusl lire que beaucoup de monde conseil les Kew West mais en lisant sur Expédiat sa n'as pas l'aire du nous motivé.

Dommage de ne pas faire les Keys! Je connais cette région est c'est un incontournable si on se trouve dans le sud de Miami.
Sans voiture, il vous faudra rester à Miami Beach, point. Éventuellement vous pourrez faire les Everglades en prenant un forfait qui inclut l'autocar. Le taxi est très, très, très cher là-bas!!
Pour les bus, ils sont très lents, on ne parcourt pas de grandes distances en bus au risque d'y passer la journée.

Je ne veux pas vous décevoir, mais, quel que soit votre programme....il ne faut pas perdre de vue, qu'aux États-Unis, les distances à parcourir, sont très, très importantes, et qu'une voiture, s'impose vraiment....surtout si vous êtes trois. D'ailleurs, le réseau routier est à la mesure de ces distances. Le carburant est "relativement" bon marché, ce qui encourage des déplacements longues distances.

40$, c'est pour un seul trajet aller, relativement court...Si tu veux visiter les Everglades, le Kennedy Space Center ou les Keys, tu peux multiplier ce montant par 15, 20, 30...!!
Suivez le conseil de Virginiath, contentez vous de Miami Beach, en une semaine ça fera très bien l'affaire 😉

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.

The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
