Comme promis, je vous donne des nouvelles. Tous va bien me concernant. Apres ce periple des USA, j'ai donc fais l'integralité ou presque du Mexique, je pensais y rester 1 mois, finalement j'y suis resté 2 mois! Pays superbe avec un trajet d'anthologie: Guanajuato, Teotihuacan, Mazunte, le Chiapas et les sites Maya.
J'ai donc fais aussi Cuba 29 jours et là je vous ecris du Guatemala ou je pense y rester 23 ou 25 jours.
Mais tous de meme je dois vous narrer en quelques phrase mes dernieres 24h au Mexique! Yoy dans toute sa splendeur.
- Dimanche je quitte la chambre de deux français à 19h pour prendre mon bus direction San Cristobal puis le Guatemala. Je passe à la direction pour dire au revoir, et là on me demande de payer la nuit d'hotel qui va arriver au motif que j'ai laissé mes affaire dans la chambre de mes deux potes français! Je refuse biensur, j'ai du quand meme payé 50 pesos mexicains! LOL. Pour eux je n'avais pas quitter les lieux alors que la femme de menage avait retirer mes draps car je lui avais dit que je ne resterai pas.
- Lundi a 7h on me reveil dans le bus pour faire un changement de bus, le notre etant en trop mauvaise etat! Et là STUPEUR, je cherche les chaussures que mon pere m'a preté partout!!! Au bout de 5min je dois me resigner, ON M'A VOLE MES CHAUSSURES! Je me retrouve pied nu à changer de bus! Je suis trop degouté! Les belles chaussure de papa!!!
- Lundi a 13h, j'arrive à San Cristobal de las Casas, je vais au commissariat pied nu pour porter plainte, j'ai prie 15milles assurances, j'espere etre un peu rembourser. Je tombe sur une stagiaire, je mets 3h à sortir.
- Lundi a 22h, j'arrive à 4km de la frontiere entre le Mexique et le Guetemala. Un taxi me propose de m'emmener au poste frontiere, je partage le taxi et les frais avec un mec du Honduras. Arrivé à la frontiere, on me dit que je dois retourner à 4km pour faire tamponner mon passeport de sortie du territoire Mexicain! Depuis quand on fais ces papier à des kilometres de la frontiere?
- Lundi a 22h20: J'ai repayé 40 pesos comme la premiere fois, pour me retrouver à tamponer mon passeport, bien degouté et je commence à etre bien crevé!
- Lundi a 22h24: Je trouve un taxi pour revenir a la frontiere, le mec me dit 40, normal. Sur le chemin un mec fait du stop, je lui dit qu'on partagera les frais il est OK. Et là le mec du taxi me sort que cela sera 50 pesos finalement! Et là je craque!!!! Yoy s'enerve, finalement on a payé 40 pesos et le mec du Guatemala été bien content en me tappant sur l'epaule!

Hier j'ai fais 19h de marche en 2 jours pour me retrouver à 150m d'un cratere d'un volcan avec un guide et 3 allemands!!! Toute la nuit des éruptions superbe, le bruit, la lave...

Je reviens d'une part, pour vous demander comment vous allez? Est ce que certains preparent un periple du cote des USA dans des endroits tels Roosbeef Canyon?
De mon cote, il m'est arrivé une sacrée histoire et j'ai grave pense à vous. Je me suis dit: Quand je vais leur raconter, ils ne vont pas me croire! Pierre Richard en puissance.
Alors deja, je continue mon periple, fini l'Amerique du Nord et Centrale, je suis en Amerique du Sud. Et pour l'instant mon gros coup de coeur est pour Rio de Janeiro et toujours cette petites villes de Guanajuato au Mexique.
Mon histoire se passe à Brasilia, il y a de cela moins une 1 semaine. J'ai prie une chambre de jeunesse, celle ci se trouvant completement excentre pres d'un terrain de camping au nord de la ville. A 19h, je decide de rentrer à l'auberge. J'attend le bus, pas de bus, à croire que j'ai bien compris ou ete l'arret du bus. Je decide donc d'y aller à pieds et de longer les grandes avenues. Je dois traverser des avenues à 6 voies, j'ai cru que j'aillais y passer. On m'a dit que je devais marcher 8km...je amrche en pleine nuit, pres d'une avenue, avec appareil photo, bref tout va bien! SAUF que, je ne vois aucun panneaux et que de depasse allegrement les 8km. UN mec en taxi s'arrete et me dit d'aller a droite et de revenir sur mes pas. Bien-sur assez fatigué, je ne l'ecoute qu'a 50 pourcents et decide de couper.
Arrive l'impensable, je vois au bout de 20 min des batimets, je suis donc sauvé. Je vois en plus un homme dehors. Le mec fume avec une clop, amsi surtout surprise il est habille en militaire. Je demande mon chemin, il ne sait pas et je vais donc dans un batiment illuminé. Je rentre et la je vois au moins 10 militaires hommes et femmes, tous le monde me regardent avec de gros yeux. Je dis: Pardon, je m'appelle Yohan, je suis français et je suis completement perdu! Bien-sur ils repondent pas et me demande ce que je fou dans une base militaire...ah oui carrement une base! Je repond, puis certains s'approchent et commence a m'aider en me dessinant des plans. Sauf que le chef se pointe et il est pas du tout content de me voir, et il me demande de lever les bras pour me faire une fouille complete. Là je me retrouve avec tous les militaires devant moi avec leurs armes et moi les bras leve!!!!! Genre il est 22h30 et c'est nornal! Bon il etait persuade que j'avais une arme le chef, en faite c'ete ma banane ou je cache des choses. Apres ce moment de tension, tous le monde rigole de nouveau. SAUF que, je dois passer deux avenues et entre la 1ere et la 2eme il y a des exercices de tirs cette nuit. Je dois donc traverser sans me faire plomber. Ils sont sympa au Bresil. J'ai donc traverser les deux avenues entre mort de trouilles et bidonné d'une telle histoire. Un soldat a du sortir et prendre sa voiture pour voir si il ne m'arrivait rien. OUF non, je suis rentre a mon hotel a 23h30 en me disent: Ils vont jamais me croire que sur le forum quand je vais leur raconter.
Alle bisous à tous. Pour ceux qui veulent voir j'ai fais je pense un assez bon article avec photo et videos d'une favela. Actue sur mon blog je suisa Rio il y a 1 semaine de decalage.
Pour te repondre, il y a un decalage d'une semaine sur mon blog, et là je t'ecris de Buenos Aires ou je reviens d'une manifestation. En effet, les argentins sont un peu enervé d'une loi qui prive les argentins de vendre leur pesos pour des dolars ou euros. Eux comme moi trouve que c'est une manque de liberte. Ayant vecu a Buenos Aires j'ai donc prie casserole pour manifester.
Je reste ici encore 5 jours puis Santiago au Chili juste pour prendre un avion pour l'île de Paques. OOhhh que j'ai hate d'y aller.
Puis le Salar d'Uyuni en Bolivie, l'Ile du Soleil sur la Lac Titicaca...ooh la vache, vous avez vu que je suis quand meme organisé. LOL. J'ai un plan de route quand meme. Puis Perou pour dire bonjour aux amis et fin juillet je retourne à CUBA, j'ai adoré l'ile pour une semaine et retour en France.
En aout, normalement je dois rompre, si il voit cela, il va etre vert, mais bon c'est lui qui veut. On va dire que mon voyage au tour du monde a sacrifié mon couple. Mais bon apres avoir eu 2 mois difficile j'essai de remonter la pente. J'essaie...
Et puis a partir d'octobre 1 an en Australie avec le Visa Woorking Hollydays pour apprendre l'Anglais, j'ai un master 2 en Droit Europeen du travail mais sans l'Anglais c'est un peu mort pour le boulot
Puis apres un an Asie et Moyen Orient.
Niveau budget je tiens plutot le choc. Je suis partie avec 27 000 euros et là il me reste 17 000. C'est a dire qu'en 9 mois j'ai depense 10 000 euros ce qui est pas mal car j'ai fais des pays chers quand meme: USA, Canada, Cuba, Bresil, Argentine...
En effet, si ce voyage parraissait quelque peu désorganisé au départ, ça enchaîne doucement vers une planification rigoureuse. 🤪
Mais on compte sur toi pour quelques moments d'improvisation. 😏😏
Petit message pour vous donner des nouvelles! Alors je rassure tout va bien! Ou...presque! Il y a 2 semaines, j'ai perdu mon portefeuille et puisque c'etait en Europe, en Italie plus precisement, j'avais tout mi dans le portefeuille. Mais velo est portefeuille ne faisant pas bon ménage...il est tombé: RESULTAT: Opposition de 3 cartes bleues...
Sinon, tous va bien. J'ai donc FINI mon périple en Amerique. Vous pouvez toujours aller sur mon blog, ou vous allez pouvoir voir de superbes photos et videos de la Bolivie qui parait est le plus beau pays d'Amerique du Sud! Puis il y aura le Perou et de nouveau Cuba.
Je bascule en Oceanie dans un mois, depart le 29 octobre pour Melburne!
PS/ Il m'est arrivé une histoire de fou sur un site touristique de Bolivie. Un policier m'a traité de voleur car j'avais perdu mon billet du site Inca que je visitais. Vu le flic j'ai repliqué que cela été un peu fort de me faire insulter par un flic dans un pays ou la corruption frappe tous les jours! La suite sera dans le blog dans quelques jours...Mais c'etait chaud!

Ahhh je suis tres heureux de vous retrouvé ici! Toujours en voyage, je suis actu en Australie, je pars dans deux semaines en Nouvelles Caledonie et prepare la suite pour l'Asie l'année prochaine. Be juste pour vous dire que si les Parcs de l'Ouest ont ete un peu mal organise, le tour du monde continue. Je viens de finir le travail en Australie et j'ai visite la Nouvelle Caledonie. Et justement j'ai pense a vous. Generalement on ne connait pas trop les gens qui posent sur les forums.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.

The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
