ça correspondait pile poil au niveau des horaires de la Qatar Airways.
Il me paraissait évident qu'il ne fallait pas chercher en Amérique latine.Sur l'Afrique à safari problèmes de visa, vaccinations et un peu juste au vu du tarif
Ensuite des sites culturels variés des plages de sable blanc ( pas très spécifique de l'Afrique Australe même si les plages existent ) et puis la cannelle les pierres précieuses...

Tout se passe super bien... on a enchaîné les tandis, visites de temple, vu les éléphants en safari dans l eco Park , fait un bon tour du Sri Lanka avec notre chauffeur et là on termine près de Mirissa en bord de mer.
Le récit sera fait à mon retour avec de chouettes photos. On n’a pas hâte de rentrer en France même si ici la psychose gagne les sri lankais . Ils ferment les hauts lieux touristiques certains hôtels interdisent le train aux touristes... bref ils ont peur de nous.
On réfléchit déjà à notre prochain voyage qui sera très certainement en Amérique centrale ou du Sud mais je l organiserai ( j’aime trop ça ) je ferais le calcul mais l agence se paye bien quand même.
L expérience est chouette et vaut le coup d être vécue au moins une fois mais j adore trop chercher, organiser, cela m’a manquè sur ce voyage. En tout cas, le Sri Lanka est une très belle destination .

En effet, plus d entrées d’européens sur le sol sri lankais et notre vol est confirmé par Qatar Airways . Et de nouveau le A380, j espère avoir des places sur le pont supérieur.
On profite donc au maximum. Au retour, ma crèche étant fermée je suis réaffectée sur un poste dans un centre de soins infirmiers étant infirmière de formation.
Bref, une douche froide quand on va rentrer.

On sait bien mais aucune info de l agence , notre vol est co firmé pour un départ dans la nuit de mardi à mercredi et on espère ne pas être mis en quarantaine à paris car je suis infirmière... c est la loose...
Concernant la quatorzaine, elle serait fortement recommandée. En tout cas c'est clairement le message que donne le Gouvernement du Canada. (Les responsables fédéraux et provinciaux de la santé publique recommandent à tous les voyageurs en provenance de l’étranger de s’isoler pendant 14 jours. Ces efforts contribueront à ralentir l’introduction et la propagation de la COVID-19 au Canada.)

Nous avons atterri en France: aucun contrôle de température a doha ni à paris. On rentre en France comme dans un moulin, ça craint. Même au Sri Lanka , ils avaient une machine infra rouge pour prendre la température des gens qui rentraient sur le territoire et nous RIEN.
Puis un contrôle très bref par la gendaryqui nous a demandé le papier mais sans même le lire...
Franchement, c’est pas gagné.
On rentre chez nous avec la tête pleine de belles images et demain boulot !!!!

Les autorités ont compris depuis longtemps que mesurer la température ne sert quasiment à rien : on est contagieux sans en avoir, si on en a ça peut être pour plein d'autres raisons que ce virus, et même si on contaminé et fiévreux les médicaments les plus simples et diffusés permettent de la faire baisser assez durablement.
Bref, une mesure sans utilité.

L'essentiel c'est que tu aies pu regagner la France, avec plein de belles images en tête!!
D'un point de vue sanitaire il serait pertinent de faire une quatorzaine préventive, mais les employeurs en France ne semblent pas être ''sur la même longueur d'onde''. J'ai une amie qui est partie hier soir d'ici après 3 semaines de visite au Québec, je lui ai conseillé de se mettre en quatorzaine préventive. Son employeur refuse....pour info elle est auxiliaire de puériculture dans une crêche d'un hôpital 🤪. Finalement je comprends mieux l'explosion des cas en France avec ce genre de réaction 🤪

Voilà, je prends enfin le temps de vous faire le récit de notre escapade sri-lankaise.
N’étant pas en confinement car infirmière, moi qui étais directrice de crèche , j’ai été réquisitionnée par ma boîte pour faire des tournées à domicile.
Bref, j ai bossé 9 jours avec un jour de repos et c.est avec plaisir que je me retrouve en week-end sans bosser. Mon conjoint bosse aussi mais nous avons du coup nos trois enfants pas là habituellement, bref un chamboulement....
Voilà donc mon récit de voyage.
Jour 1: le dimanche 8 mars 2020
Nous prenons la route de Brest vers 12h avé ce des blablacar , direction Roissy où nous avons réservé une chambre d hôtel à l hôtel b and b de Roissy. Nous nous offrons un resto que j aimais bien: le café de la jatte sur l’île de la jatte en région parisienne. Un très bon rest italien , le dernier avant de prendre l.avion pour ........nous ne le savons pas encore.
Puis on rentre à l hôtel, on se couche tôt été on double nos réveils car on ne doit pas rater notre avion.....
Jour 2:
Réveil à 5h30 pour être à l aéroport terminal 1 , on rend notre voiture et arrives au bon terminal’ on ouvre enfin l, enveloppe qui nous dira où nous allons passer nos vacances....

Pas pu vous télécharger la vidéo ou j.ouvrais l.enveloppe...
Départ pour le Sri Lanka par un vol Paris doha puis doha colombo.
Par la Qatar Airways avec un A380. Nous enregistrons assez vite, il n.y a pas beaucoup de monde et en effet, l.avion est à moitié plein sur les deux trajets. Super compagnie en tout cas avec un service au top.
Nous arrivons enfin à colombo, ou une caméra infrarouge surveille les gens qui arrivent sur l île et leur température.
Nous voulons changer mais au lieu de changer 200 euros en roupies on change 20 euros. Notre chauffeur nous attend à l aéroport et nous sortons et la chaleur nous assaille, bienvenue dans les tropiques.
Notre chauffeur assez jeune nous emmène à notre voiture pour la semaine et nous remets notre road book . Puis route vers negombo de nuit , nous dépose à notre hôtel le blue hôtel éléphant et rdv demain matin à 8h . Courte nuit, nous fonçons rejoindre Morphée.
Jour 3: Negombo
On déguste notre premier repas au Sri Lanka avec des fruits divins et du dahl de lentilles et des rostis.
On retrouve alors notre chauffeur qui heureusement a une voiture climatisée et on découvre le pays de jour....
Un choc cu, Turmel pour mon conjoint qui n.etait jamais venu en Asie.
Puis on pris la route pour Dambulla , notre premier site.
Un moine en haut nous a noué un bracelet blanc en nous bénissant. Très peu de monde et une chaleur étouffante.
Puis , sur le chemin de l.hotel’ on s est arrêté sur un marché aux légumes , un étal de fruits et légumes dont certains nous étaient inconnus....
Puis direction notre hôtel, un hôtel magnifique où nous devions rester deux nuits le ambaya Lake hôtel.
Dîner en amoureux après un plouf dans la piscine et dodo....
Jour4: le matin, après nous prenons très tôt la route pour le site de polonnaruwa, ancienne cité qui fut la capitale royale du Sri Lanka. Le site est immense et il fait toujours très chaud. Le musée est en rénovation donc on ne s.y attarde pas trop. On constate quand même qu il y a très peu de monde ( merci le coronavirus).
Il nous faut enlever nos chaussures dans les petits temples et le sol est bouillant...
Puis nous déjeunons d’un repas traditionnel et nous mentons en route pour un safari à l.ecolo park où nous verrons une famille d éléphants à bord d’une jeep avec le toit ouvert.
Puis un massage ayuredique nous attend dans un lieu improbable , un vrai moment de détente.
Malheureusement, le covid19 nous rejoint car l agence locale nous appelle sur le téléphone de notre chauffeur pour nous dire que des touristes italiens ont transmis le covid19 à leur chauffeur et que comme ils logeaient dans le même hôtel que nous , nous devions retourner à l’hotel, récupérer nos affaires et aller dans un autre hôtel le cinnamon hôtel où avec les distances qui sont longues à faire nous a accueilli à 29h39.
Une douche rapid, dîner à l hôtel, pas pu profité de la piscine de l hôtel puis lever aux aurores le lendemain.
Un peu tristes de ne pas avoir eu une soirée tranquille. L.angoisse du covid19 va envahir notre chauffeur à partir de ce moment là donc le mercredi de la première semaine.
Je vais m.arreter là et reprendrais la suite du récit au jour 5.

Jour 5:
Le lendemain, nous prenons un panier pique-nique petit déchet partons assez tôt pour aller sur le site du rocher du lion à sigiriya, un site magnifique où nous restons deux bonnes heures le temps d.escalader et de redescendre. Puis nous prenons la route pour Kandy après des arrêts plutôt inutiles chez un bijoutier et un marchand de meuble que le guide connaissait. Le côté négatif des guides....
Nous posons nos affaires à l hôtel topaze qui surplombe la ville. Nous aurions pu aller voir un spectacle de danses traditionnels à 17h mais sommes vannés et passons l.apres midi à la piscine de l hôtel puis nous dînons sur place. Nous donnons rdv au chauffeur le lendemain.
Jour 6:
Lus prenons la route vers nana oya et nous arrêtons pour visiter une usine à thé puis safari thé pour voir les cueilleuses de thé. Puis route magnifique dans les montagnes pour prendre le train entre nanu oya et Ella. Une vraie belle expériencé une immersion avec les locaux qui me manquait depuis le début puisque nous voyagerons uniquement en voiture privée.
Nous arrivons tard à ella, nous installons à l hôtel onrock et en profitons pour faire nos emplettes et dîner au resto sur Ella, ambiance jeune et décontractée.
Jour7:
Le lendemain, ascension de littérature Adam peak et descente pour voir le Pont Neuf demodara et nous avons la chance de voir passer le train.
Puis route vers la côte sud en passant par Matara que nous traverserons en voiture; il y a de moins en moins de monde dans les rues covid oblige...
Puis installation à notre dernier hôtel en bord de mer à ahangama où nous allons farniente à fond.
Lus passerons les derniers jours à plonger, se baigner , et se reposer à l hôtel garton’s cape. Puis retour à negombo pour une dernière nuit ava t de prendre notre vol de retour en pleine nuit.
Ce fut un séjour magnifique un peu teinté par l ambiance covidr mais on en a bien profité.
Douche froide ensuite quand nous sommes arrivés à Paris dans une France confinée. Je pense déjà au prochain voyage en organisation autonome je pense très probablement en auto tour 4X4 avec ou pas tenté sur le toit soit en Namibie soit en Amérique centrale ou du Sud.

J'imagine que le confinement qui a suivi (ou la mobilisation) n'a pas permis de profiter de ce retour comme cela aurait dû être en pareil cas, mais le principal, c'est d'avoir effectué ce voyage à peu près normalement. À une semaine près, cela aurait pu être catastrophique.
Et voilà ...
Nous voilà repartis sur un nouveau voyage en perspective auquel on a pas pu résister. En effet, Qatar Airways avait lancé une offre de 10 000 billets gratuits ( juste les taxes à payer) pour les soignants ( je suis infirmière)
On n’a hélas pas réussi à avoir un code promotionnel mais quelques semaines plus tard on a reçu un code promotionnel à 50% et on a saisi l opportunité.
Sur le fil du rasoir, on a réussi à avoir deux billets aller retour et on s est décidé pour 15 jours dans la région du cap en Afrique du Sud du 16 au 30 novembre.
Il y a évidemment un risque d annulation si COVID-19 mais les billets seront alors reportés.
On part donc sur un road-trip en 4x4 avec matériel de camping pour alterner nuits en camping et hôtel. On va se concentrer sur la région du Sud et je suis donc preneuse de vos lumières...

En effet, j’ai vérifié le marché , les tarifs sans le code promotionnel et cela restait super intéressant.
Les deux billets avec 30 kg de bagages ( important si on veut emmener du matériel de camping ( tente, sacs de couchages, etc) nous sont revenus à 838 euros, les mêmes billets sont à 1300 euros actuellement. Alors , oui on trouve moins cher que 1300 euros sur d autres compagnies mais on a le risque du covid et cette compagnie s est montrée très efficace durant la pandémie et j ai donc toute confiance au cas où cela se reproduirait.
Les vols ne sont pas directs mais les horaires sont très bien pour nous qui venons de Brest ( pas de nuit d hôtel à Paris).

I’m a teacher in Creuse, working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m starting a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of the journal will focus on opening up to the world, diversity, travel, countries, culture...
I’m launching a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a little postcard (from France or anywhere in the world!) to take us on a journey and help us discover new places, countries, and horizons—much more fun and exciting than a regular geography textbook! One section of our journal could be called "We received mail from " and would be an opportunity to research that location and share what we learn with our readers (a super enriching activity in class).
The project starts in September 2025 but has no real end date, as this journal and world discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in my ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! (The kids will find them when they return.)
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow traveler friends. Make us dream, take us on a journey!!!

I just discovered a great show on Arte.
It's called "7 en route": seven young European journalists travel around Europe in a fully converted bus, making reports on every city they visit. It's amazing! 🙂
Yesterday, for example, they were in Rome, Italy, and the reports included things like the world's smallest restaurant—a super romantic spot for two. There was also a report on the king of paparazzi in Italy.
They have to pick topics that let us discover the little quirks of each country. And at the end of each episode, we get to see the finished report.
It's such a great show, mixing journalism, travel, and discovery—basically, a must-watch!

I left my heart’s country eight days ago and returned to my adopted one—or was it the other way around? Scotland-Morvan, Morvan-Scotland, I’m not quite sure anymore.
After a quarter without dragging my slippers around here, even though I’d loudly declared I had no interest left in this site, here I am again!
My imagination never stays fallow for long. Just enough time for my inner land to rest. It gets overgrown with fresh nettles, the kind you can pick without getting stung. Then, it’s time to till the fragrant earth and let the story grow.
I hesitated over where to set this story.
Maybe the Highlands, maybe the Hebrides, maybe the Orkney Islands, maybe the Shetland Islands. All of Scotland is myth—easy to embroider.
But in the end, no. I’d almost be too afraid to bare my soul.
The story will take place at home. Simple, practical.

This morning, I was up well before dawn, feeling a bit grumpy, but nothing a bowl of coffee won’t fix. I love my bowl, and no one dares take it. It’s porcelain, edged with intertwined blue flowers. On the bottom, it says "Revol." The factory has existed long before the Revolution. It was my great-grandmother’s bowl. She drank roasted barley from it during the war, then her Leroux chicory.
Last year, a little guy dropped it. My bowl broke into three pieces. A black anger vibrated deep inside me. The little boy was so upset, on the verge of tears. How could I scold him!
I picked up the three pieces and took Little Boy in my arms. His hair smelled of the light, sweet sweat of toddlers. A gentle hug that healed—his budding sorrow and my anger—everything vanished, and time carried on.
Today, my bowl is even prettier. Man fixed it using the traditional kintsugi technique, except he didn’t use gold powder or lacquer but superglue, and he delicately painted the cracks with woad blue. And my bowl is even more beautiful now.
I’m lingering, I can tell—it’s just that a story wraps itself in life, and life can’t be told in the snap of a finger. Life is long. Like in architecture, you start with a rough sketch, called a "sous-cul" (the initial pencil drawing), then you make a tracing, which is the work itself, the one you later carefully roll up in a wooden tube.
Life is like that: you erase, you start over, you use the nub of the pencil until it’s tiny, but you keep going—dreaming, loving.

On this forum, we talk a lot about trekking in the Himalayas, but I’d love to share another side of Nepal: its spiritual, cultural, and religious atmosphere, especially in Kathmandu.
Nepal, much like Tibet and Bhutan, is deeply connected to the Himalayas—the ultimate sacred mountain range. This small country exudes a calming vibe, shaped by a strong spiritual dimension. What I loved most was the unique sensory experience you get there. Walking around temples and tantric monasteries, a distinct scent fills the air—aromatic plants used for ritual fumigation. Locals mainly burn Himalayan juniper, cedar, sandalwood, and other local essences. This fragrant smoke is a way to purify the space and reach the deities, and you’re constantly enveloped in these aromas.
Another striking aspect is the sound. As soon as you step outside, you hear bells ringing in front of temples. People ring them three times before praying to announce their presence to the deities. Nepal is also the birthplace of singing bowls and sound meditation practices. In Kathmandu, you can easily find meditation sessions or "sound baths."
The spiritual dimension is everywhere: a Hindu sadhu practicing asceticism, a lama in deep red robes with his mala, turning a prayer wheel while murmuring "Om mani padme hum." Newar Buddhism, Tantrism, and Hinduism coexist harmoniously in daily life.

I just installed the Maps.Me app on my phone. I only recently found out about this app. I’m traveling in 2 weeks and a few days, and I’m a bit stuck on how to use it.

I just couldn’t bring myself to actively participate in other French-language travel forums—their format and way of doing things never appealed to me as much. I really hope that VF’s structure, categories, and interface won’t change too much despite the handover, because I’m very attached to them. I’m planning a 3-week trip to Japan in May with Voyage Privé. The package includes a 5 GB eSIM, but my phone isn’t new enough to support it. VP told me I could buy a SIM card when I arrive at the airport.
Sure enough, I’ve seen online that this is possible with different providers.
I only need it for checking routes, looking up addresses, train schedules, etc.—basically using Google Maps, TripAdvisor, and similar apps. No heavy downloads or major internet use. All hotels should provide free Wi-Fi for that, right?
Has anyone got any tips for me on this? What have you tried, and how much did it cost?

I wanted to share a really unpleasant experience from our last trip booked with Promoséjours and organized by FTI.
We booked an 8-day/7-night stay in Egypt, from June 8 to 15.
The flight initially scheduled was changed a week before departure to take off at 10 PM from Paris CDG.
In the end, it took off with a 1-hour delay and included an unmentioned stopover in Marsa Alam.
We landed in Hurghada at 4 AM and arrived at the hotel at 6 AM.
So, we spent our first night on the plane.
For the return trip, surprise—the flight was moved up. We left the hotel at 10:30 PM on Friday the 14th to take off at 2 AM and land at 7 AM at Paris CDG.
So, we spent our last night on the plane too.
After sending a complaint letter to Promoséjours / FTI, they replied that the first and last days can be dedicated to transport (which I already knew) and that no matter how many nights you book, you’re not guaranteed to spend them in the hotel—it could just as well be on the plane.
I’m really questioning this.
Isn’t there a law that protects customers in cases like this?
Because when I do the math, the first and part of the second day were spent on transport, same for the second-to-last and last day. And I paid for 7 nights for a stay that only lasted 5.
Anyway, I just want to say thanks to them—thanks to their two sleepless nights in transit, I’m coming back even more exhausted from a trip that was supposed to be restful!
I also want to warn anyone booking through this agency about visas for Egypt.
At booking, they told me the visa was included in the price, then they sent me an email saying I’d have to pay for it on-site at 25 €.
Once there, we were directed to a special line for FTI customers, and guess what? They charged us 30 €!
Basically, they’re great at making sure you *enjoy* your vacation—mostly by enjoying your wallet!
If anyone has dealt with this kind of situation and won their case, I’m all ears.

I’m heading to Thailand for two months.
So I thought I’d get a Thai SIM card to use Google Maps for getting around cities, mostly.
Here’s my question: will this SIM affect my apps? Or will they work the same as with my Orange SIM?
Is there any setup I need to do, or can I just pop in the Thai SIM?
I’d also like to switch back to my Orange SIM now and then while I’m in Thailand—on the same phone. Will I need to reset the phone, or will it reconnect without any issues?

I’m reaching out to all travelers and globe-trotters on this forum. I’m a teacher in Creuse working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m launching a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of this journal will focus on opening up to the world, embracing differences, travel, global cultures, and more.
I’m putting out a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a postcard (from France or anywhere in the world)! The goal is to help us "travel" and discover new places, countries, and horizons in a way that’s much more fun and exciting than a geography textbook. One section of our journal could be called "We received a letter from ," where we’d research the location and share what we learn with our readers—a really enriching activity for the classroom.
The project starts in September 2025 but doesn’t have a strict end date, since this journal and world-discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in the ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! The kids will find them when they return.
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible, and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow travelers. Help us dream and explore!

Hello. We’re a retired couple heading to Sri Lanka from January to March. It appears to be Somali pirates who have widened their search in the Mozambique Channel, far from their usual attack zone, since, to my knowledge, there are no Malagasy pirates.
