Hi Philippe,

Taking advantage of the promotion will leave you with fewer regrets—the itinerary is still amazing.

How to dress depends on the weather you’ll get. The best approach is to layer with "onion-style" clothing so you can peel off layers if it’s nice out. Don’t forget gloves, hats, and scarves. Ski clothes if the weather’s bad.

On the boat, I don’t remember it being cold, but don’t pack summer outfits. No themed evenings. The pool isn’t heated and is probably pretty chilly. The amenities on the boat are generally quite basic and rudimentary.

Hi Catherine, I just finished reading all 8 pages of your post in one go, drawn in by the title and the name Rivages du Monde... Indeed, we booked the Patagonia trip a year ago, and I’m dreading the idea of being disappointed, even though it’s not the same type of trip—the Patagonia cruise explores the fjords with daily zodiac outings... I still haven’t found any reviews of this trip from others who’ve already done it, and I hope we won’t run into the same problems you had to deal with... We leave on February 20th, fingers crossed!

Hi Monique, I’m really sorry to have made you doubt before your departure. Maybe you won’t be as disappointed as I was. Think of the stunning landscapes you’re going to discover—it’s a beautiful itinerary.

Thanks Catherine, I’ll post a review after we return on March 6th... hoping for nothing but good news! In 2018, we did New Zealand with Croisières d’Exception, and there were also a few hiccups with the excursions, which didn’t match the description at all. But in that case, thanks to the cruise director who personally intervened for the whole group, we were compensated 600 €. Still, I’d prefer everything to go smoothly this time! We’ll start getting ready, because February 20th will be here before we know it... and happy 2020 to all readers!

Well, here we are! Back since March 6th, and given the circumstances, I haven’t really had the time or the inclination to post... but you’ve got to think about something else sometimes, and if it can help take your mind off things, I’ll give you a rundown of our trip to Patagonia in a new thread I’ll call “Trip to Patagonia, February 2020” so I don’t hijack the original topic of this discussion. Have a great day, everyone!
