Hi there, We need to apply for a B2 visa because we visited Iran in 2018. It currently costs $185, but they’re planning an additional $250 fee per person for the same visa—it’s been approved but not yet implemented. Does anyone know when this fee will take effect? Thanks in advance! Elisabeth

Hi, why don’t you apply for a new passport—it’s only about a year difference. Remove some photos from social media, etc...

Hi there, Thanks for your reply. Lying to the U.S. Embassy is a crime, and even if you change your passport and photo, they still have all your info. Besides, my Iran visa isn’t in my current passport. So it’s impossible.

It’s really better not to fib to get an American visa. Too bad if it’s more expensive. The real issue will be getting an appointment with a consular officer because the wait times can be long... really long. But the upside is you’ll have a visa valid for 5 years, even if your passport expires during that time. If that happens, you wouldn’t even have to turn in your expired passport since you’d still have a valid visa.

That’s exactly what happened to me.

Giving this "kind of advice" to a former teacher (!) can’t really be called a great tip. Sending others into a tricky situation isn’t very smart.

On the other hand, your travel journals are nowhere to be found...

Hi,

?? So what? What’s with this remark that I’d rather not describe publicly? Aren’t we free to post—or not post—"travel journals"? Mine are just as nonexistent, and just like I never read the ones others write, I don’t miss them. I’d rather help in my own way, within the limits of my experience, by giving personalized answers to those who ask questions—something a "travel journal" rarely provides, come on...

Mine are just as nonexistent, and I never read the ones others write either,

even the ones that are a bit colorful and artistic—mine? 😉 😛 You're right, to each their own...
