I hesitated for a long time before asking this question. But I’ve read comments like this at least 5 or 6 times in this section.

"a good crowd (not many Italians, few kids)"😕

What exactly is the issue with Italians... and kids too??

🙁

the noise?

You’ve read it often… and I hear it all the time! Experienced cruisers will tell you—it’s impossible to have peace and quiet with Italians. In my opinion, they’re born with a microphone in their throat. Sorry, but it’s a fact. It’s a nightmare to be around too many Italians on a cruise or vacation. As for kids, the problem comes from parents who let them do whatever they want! They scream—if not outright howl—run around, jump on the chairs with their shoes on, etc.… So if you enjoy sailing in peace, using the pool without someone diving in every 5 seconds, reading quietly, or eating at the restaurant without hearing shouting, you’ll want to avoid these two groups. I’m sure you already knew the reason, but I have no problem spelling it out.

It’s impossible to have any peace with Italians—they’re born with a microphone in their throat, sorry but it’s factual. It’s a nightmare to be around a lot of Italians on a cruise or vacation. As for kids, the problem comes from parents who let them do whatever they want! They scream—no, actually, they *howl*—they run, jump on the seats with their shoes on, etc.… So if you like sailing in peace, avoid these two groups. Hello,

I’ve never been on a cruise, but during trips or stays on land where there were Italians, it was a nightmare. Italian rhymes with "noise" and "disrespect for others." The Italians (I’ve encountered in Corsica) made me become racist… (only toward this nationality).

It’s the same with kids, exactly as you described. It’s no coincidence that SNCF tried to introduce child-free train cars. Unfortunately, there was an uproar from parents and parent organizations.

Thanks for daring to write this.

Best regards, Puma

Hi there,

Yeah, Italians—both men and women—talk really loudly, they’ll shove past you to get ahead, and the kids run all over the place. They don’t know how to speak normally but sure know how to scream. I’ll share more about how it went during our August cruise, on top of the full report. Have a great day! Mum49

I don’t know if it’s really specific to Italians—I think it’s a bit of all Latin cultures... It’s the same with the Spanish, even worse with Brazilians!

These comments about "no Italians" refer to Costa and MSC. Italians act like they own the place, while other nationalities are just tolerated. The vast majority of the staff on these ships are Italian, and as soon as an Italian passenger has an issue, they go straight to them. The "lower-ranking staff" know this and fear Italian passengers, so the latter think they can get away with anything toward the crew and other passengers. For example, if you call reception in Italian to replace a blown lightbulb in your cabin, someone comes in 5 minutes. If you call in French, you might wait 2 hours. Best regards

Hello,

Oh yes, Italians (men and women) speak very loudly, they push to get ahead of you; kids run from right to left, they don’t know how to speak normally but they sure know how to scream. I’ll share more about our cruise in August along with the full report. Have a nice day: Mum49

Hi there,

So, you’re going back knowing full well what to expect—that’s a bit masochistic, isn’t it? 😉

Why not leave those spots to the Italians who are just waiting for them? 😛

people don’t always have a choice about dates… but I agree, if you don’t want Italians, an American cruise line is better. Anyway, I’m testing August 23rd on NCL.

Hi there,

Not much choice since we can’t take American companies because long flights aren’t an option. Anyway, we make the most of the balcony, and in the hallways or common areas, if Italians or other nationalities push past us, we do the same. No choice either when we’ll be traveling with our little girl during school holidays in April 2027. Have a great day! mum49

Hi there, I see a lot of you know what I mean when I mention Italians and lots of kids on cruises 😄. Of course, everyone has date constraints for traveling, and we might be forced to travel during school holidays. Italians have long summer vacations, but during our All Saints' break, they're in school, so late October is a great tip for traveling. I agree with you—a balcony cabin is a must for enjoying moments of tranquility in complete privacy with the sea view. 😎

Hi Isa, Thanks for the info about the Italian school holidays during All Saints' Day. I didn’t know that. I’ll post my little travel journal after we get back. Have a great cruise in August. Have a lovely rest of the day! Mum49
