Moi j'étais aller à The Clayhotel, super bien situé, t'es au milieu de tt ce qu'il y a de mieux à Miami beach, l'hotel fait aussi auberge de jeunesse, ce qui fait que tu peux rencontrer plein de gens.
En ce moment les prix sont de 75$ pour une chambre double, salle de bains partagée.
75$ avec le taux de change favorable en ce moment ca fait à peu près 50 -60 euros par nuit
moi ce que je cherche en faite c'est quelque chose proche de tout tu vois comme ca je n'aurais pas a louer voiture ou autres et hotel avec piscine si possible a coté de la mer mon budget et de on va dire 80 a 90 euros par jours maintenant ci j'arrive a trouver moin cher c'est bon aussi

Si vraiment tu veux une piscine, il y a un hôtel qui s'apelle le Banana Bungalows qui n'est pas trop cher je pense.

Va voir sur le site The Clay Hotel, j'étais là bas c à 100 m de la plage, tu peux tout faire à pied et en transports en communs et c'est plus calme que si tu loges directement sur Ocean Drive, là tu ne dormiras pas tellement il y a du monde.
Sinon après les prix s'envolent un peu mais tu peux tjrs voir sur les guides de voyages, ce qu'il y a dans ton budget.

Perso je vais regulierement en floride, mais certainement pas à miami, cette ville est cher et sans aucun interet.
Les plages ? ce sont les plus laides de la floride !
Bref.. c'est ton choix, donc si tu persiste à rester à miami je te conseille miami beach, fais une recherche pour les hotels sur octopus, hotelopia, expedia.
Sans vehicule ça va être dur dur ! taxi de l'aeroport à l'hotel, taxi pour les boutiques etc..
Perso je prefere orlando pour les parcs, tampa pour les plages, key west est magnifique aussi.
Je me souviens plus combien de temps tu y reste mais il faut minimum 3 semaines pour decouvrir un petit peu la floride qui est un etat magnifique.

La meilleur periode pour decouvrir la floride est de mai à septembre. juillet aout est tres chaud mais c'est la meilleur periode, suffit que tu fasse les boutiques ou la sieste de 13h30 à 16h30 pour eviter la canicule et ça roule, car trop chaud pour se baigner.
En janvier la plage sera à toi ! car il n'y à pas un chat !

A miami (en floride en general), le temps est imprevisible, en janvier je pense que tu pourras faire bronzette si les jours où tu y sera il fait beau, le ciel est souvent gris et nuageux.
Je suis du sud donc je crains le froid, d'octobre à avril je me baigne uniquement en piscine chauffé et je fais pas bronzette. Je vois que tu est du nord, donc les temperatures devrait etre correcte pour toi.
Miami beach est pas tres propre en cette periode car les plages ne sont pas frequenté.
Je me pose precisement à orlando, je prends l'hotel à kissimee, j'y vais plus particulierement pour les parcs disneyworld, universal, sea world, cap canaveral, les plages côté tampa, à kissimee il y a de superbes mini golf à ne surtout pas rater, il y a aussi old town qui est un petit village sixteen avec tous les vendredi et samedi soir un regroupement de voitures americaine ancienne des année 50/60 avec l'ambiance qui va avec.
orlando est à 4h de route de miami.
Key west est sympa mais la route est longue, environ 4h/5h de miami mais ça vaut le détour.

Il ne faut pas dramatiser, il y a des touristes toute l'année en floride, je t'ai juste donné mon opinion, j'y suis aller en hiver et en ete, pour moi c'est le jour et la nuit, incomparable quoi . Faut voir le bon côté des choses, les tarifs sont plus bas et la plage est à toi 🙂.

Les etats unis c'est vaste, en février il y a d'autres etats à visiter, peut-être las vegas. Les bahamas à partir du mois de mai ça doit être sympa aussi 🙂

Il ne faut pas déprimer, apparement tu as besoin de vacances, Tout dépend se que tu recherches sur place, mais generalement quelque soit la periode personne n'est déçu de la floride, moi j'ai connu plusieurs saisons la bas, donc je donnais mon avis, je te conseille de t'y rendre en fevrier, ensuite tu pourras toujours y retourner en ete.
Il fera peut etre chaud en fevrier, qui sait ?

Je suis à Miami et je peux te garantir un temps superbe à cette période.
Par contre comme l'a dit l'autre membre, t'attend pas à du reve, Miami c'est comme La Baule, et faut payer à tous les coins de rue.
Ne pas louer de voiture ? Impossible, à moins de rester glander à la plage, qui en passant n'est pas terrible, rien à voir avec la Thailande.
Si tu veux visiter des trucs, la voiture est indispensable, compte 30 dollars par jour hors assurance.
Bref Miami est à éviter pour les vacances, et les Bahamas, à ce qu'on en dit, c'est très inférieur à la Thailande.
J'ai vécu 1 an en Thailande, et reste à Miami pour 1 an, et bien sans aucune hésitation je vote Thailande pour les vacances : moins cher, plus joli, vrai plage, bas budget, gens sympas, etc...
Miami c'est à réserver aux riches, sinon pas de boite de nuit, pas de voiture, pas de bel hotel, pas de restos, etc....
C'est vrai que la Floride le temps est imprévisible.
Mes souvenirs de mes derniers voyages en Floride, durant le mois de janvier: nuageux, assez frisquet pour la baignade! Et le soir, il vaut mieux avoir une veste au cas où...

Août est selon moi la meilleur periode, il pleut quasiement tous les jours en août mais seulement 10 à 20 minutes entre 15h et 16h30 donc c'est pas genant du tout.
Août s'est la periode des soldes et ça vaut le coup.
Je ne connais pas toute la floride mais un petit endroit sympa est key west. Ensuite vous remontez direction orlando, en route vous trouverez de petits coins sympa, beaucoups de marecages en floride, vous croiserez certainement des alligators 😉.
Un petit sejour à orlando, hôtel à kissimmee, petite soirée sixteen à old town ( kissimee ), mini golf, très bon resto, shopping dans les outlets etc.. sans manquer walt disney world et son superbe spectacle du soir à epcot, animal kingdom.., universal, sea world, cap canaveral ( nasa ), ensuite direction tampa ( ouest ) les plages sont superbe, petite cueillette de sand dollar, etc..
La floride est superbe mais pas coté miami.
Pour les hotels à orlando ( kissimee ) ils ont pratiquement tous la piscine avec chambre climatisée, pour ma part le prix pour une nuit est d'environ 30 euros ttc avec petit dejeuner, si vous le souhaitez je vous donnerez des tuyaux pour bien choisir son hotel.
La voiture est indispensable, environ 21 euros la journée, idem pour un ptit tuyau😉
Vous allez vous regaler autant que la ptite de 10 ans.

Déja l'hotel howard johnson dezerland est peut être bien beau, mais il est carrémént excentré par rapport à South Beach!
Là je crois reconnaitre des lecteurs du routard!
Ensuite encore une fausse vérité, la haute saison en floride est à partir de Décembre jusqu'à Mai et c'est là que les prix sont les plus élévés!
Bref, un peu de n'importe quoi ici.
Moi je suis allé en Avril, un tps magnifique, pas un jour de pluie, et je te rassures pas besoin d'être millionaire pour profiter de la ville, même si certains endroits peuvent être hors de prix.
Ton itinéraire me parait pas mal, une semaine à Miami et une semaine aux Bahamas.
Ne loue une voiture que si tu as l'intention de sortir de la ville, à Miami moi je prenais les transports en communs pour aller à Bayside, au Zoo de Miami etc...
Par contre à Miami downtown, rien à faire, ca je peux te confirmer!
Miami Beach vaut surtout le coup si tu aimes la vie nocturne.
Comment faire pour aller de South Beach au Bayside Marketplace en transport en commun ? J'ai en effet l'intention d'aller faire une mini croisière à partir de là (Island Queen Cruise)....

C'est vraiment n'"importe quoi. J'ai été une dizaine de fois en Floride, aussi bien à Miami que sur la côte ouest et à Orlando. J'ai aussi passé 5 mois à Tampa entre mai et octobre. Je confirme qu'en janvier, il peut parfois faire frais, venteux et que le beau temps n'est pas garanti tous les jours. Par contre, pour quelqu'un du Nord, la mer est quand même assez agréable. La période de janvier à avril constitue bien la haute saison, mais les "touristes" sont en majorité des retraités qui descendent du nord vers la chaleur. Mais les prix sont en conséquence et assez élevés. De là à dire que les plages sont désertes, c'est faux. Peut-être qu'ils ne vont pas à South Beach mais les autres plages et en particulier vers Surfside et Sunny Isle, Hallandale et Hollywood sont bien remplies.
Bien sûr que le Dezerland hôtel est à Miami Beach, mais c'est quand même à 12 Km de South Beach. A ce compte là, Sunny Isle, c'est toujours Miami Beach aussi mais c'est à 25 Km.
Quand au climat en août, si tu n'as eu que 10 minutes de pluie tous les jours, c'est que tu as eu de la chance. Ce serait plutôt une heure à une heure et demi, quand il n'y a pas d'ouragan ou même de tempête tropicale, parce qu'alors, c'est le (très) mauvais temps garanti pendant 4 à 5 jours.
Bref, je pense que la meilleure période pour aller en Floride, c'est de mars à mi-juin, novembre n'est pas mal et qu'aux autres périodes c'est globalement positif avec un risque d'avoir de la malchance sur des courtes périodes.
Quand aux plages de Tampa, elles n'exitent pas: elles ont à Clearwater ou à St Petersburg, mais ça, c'est à 40/50 Km de Tampa et il faut une heure pour y aller
j'arrive de 10 jours de la floride du 10 au 20, la dernière journée, la plus froide et c, était à 19. dans les 25+ le reste du temps. j'étais à Pompano Beach (1 heure de Miami) et non pas baigner dans la mer mais à South beach (Miami) oui.
pour être allée souvent, effectivement South Beach est la plus belle plage mais aussi c'est le night live là-bas. si tu veux du tranquille, monte vers le nord, fort Lauderdale (30 minutes de Miami) plus tranquille, Pompano beach ou Baton Raton.
et non les plages ne sont pas vide, les québecois envahissent les plages de la Floride, nous c'est -15 alors 26 c'est parfait.
si tu cherches la vrai chaleur donc republique dominicaine et plus bas.

Hello, alors juste pour dire que L'hotel howard johnson est bien à Miami Beach et au bord de la plage... mais sur la 87... soit au moins une heure à pieds de South Beach et Lincoln Road, l'artère principale... Alors ca fais super loin. Il y de nombreux hotel bcp plus proche et plus sympa et moins cher.
Pour la meilleure période c'est bien sur en ce moment, Fevrier Mars... En janvier normalement qu'une ou deux journée de pluie... Bref en Aout il fait très très très chaud... et très humide. En effet il pleut de manière intense et brève... ca fait bcp Sauna...
Mais on peut rester dans l'eau.
Au niveaux des hotels, il y a tous les prix tous les services, dis moi ce qui te correspond.

Le meilleur endroit à Miami Beach est certainement South Beach, càd au Sud de la 20ème rue. L'hôtel qui offre le meilleur rapport qualité prix est le Clay Hotel qui est, à la fois, un hostel (auberge de jeunesse) et un hôtel. Il n'est pas sur la plage mais à 100 m seulement. Si tu as une voiture, il faudra la garer au parking minicipal qui n'est trop cher : 8$ par jour payable à la sortie (les hôtels sont plus chers).
Je suis déjà allé 4 fois à Miami Beach et ma femme voulant être sur la plage, je prends toujours un hotel qui a un accès direct à l'océan (sur Collins entre la 20° et la 15° rue - car plus au sud il y a Ocean Road qui s'intercale - avec un n° impair pour être du bon côté de la rue). En novembre 2007, nous sommes allés au Riande Continental 1825 Collins Av. qui répond au critère. J'avais trouvé un prix de 57.80€ TTC sur Opodo. le petit déjeuner est en sus mais qu'importe car les premiers jours on se réveille bien plus tôt que l'heure du breakfast et on va le prendre au Diner's qui est sur Washington Av (angle 11th) qui est ouvert 24/24. Je n'avais pas de voiture et j'ai donc échappé aux 50$ de parking journalier.
Je suis obligé de changer d'hôtel à chaque visite car les établissements bon marché sur la plage sont remplacés par des hôtels de luxe.
Je te conseille un resto pas cher : le Big Pink 157 Collins. Les gardes côtes y viennent manger, c'est une référence et cela explique aussi pourquoi il y a tant dans les assiettes.
Pour le shopping : il y a l'Aventura Mall 19501 Biscayne Blvd à Miami (plus précisément à Aventura) qui est grand mall accessible par le bus de South Beach. Mais le plus génial est le Sawgrass Mills à Fort Lauderdale (il y a des navettes) qui doit être le 2° en étendue aux USA avec des outlets à des prix planchers.
Nous avons été déçu par Nassau (Bahamas) qui est une petite ville des Caraïbes avec beaucoup de pauvreté et des quartiers résidentiels pour touristes riches. Je reconnais que je n'avais pas pris les options qui permettent de juger réellement un pays : j'avais réservé sur Paradise Island à côté du complexe touristique Atlantis. Celui-ci était trop cher pour moi (350$ / jour) et je m'étais rabattu sur le Comfort Suite voisin à 206$ qui offrait les mêmes accès au parc nautique.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:

- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
