D'un naturel joyeux, je suis au fond du gouffre....Pour nos 40 ans on nous a donné de l'argent pour faire un voyage et nous avons choisi punta cana....Alors pour nous tout est une premiere....1ere fois dans un avion 1ere fois en tout inclus 1ere fois les plages paradisiaques baignées de soleil....C'est la que ca se gatte....Les prévisions sont catastrophiques.....je ne trouve que des gens qui sont mécontents de XLF (c'est la compagnie avec laquelle nous partons) Je n ai pas vraiment une taille manequin et j'étouffe dès que je ne sens serrée alors ca ne va pas aller du tout....
Je suis triste de partir j'ai peur de tout l'avion la météo avoir mis autant d'argent dans un voyage qui devait nous appoeter du bonheur et etre aussi malheureuse de partir ..... Quelqun peut me rassurer?? j AI HONTE D4ETRE AUSSI TRISTE ALORS QUE JE M4APPRETE 0 FAIRE CE VOYAGE... nOUS PARTONS VENDREDI 6
La météo semble assez bonne à Punta Cana. Avec ce soleil, vous apprécierez lorsqu'il y aura un peu de nuage. Je sens une crainte de l'inconnu qui s'ajoute à la météo. Je suis persuadée que vous ferez un excellent voyage. N'oubliez pas qu'à cette période de l'année, il y a rarement de la pluie toute la journée. Il peut y avoir des averses et au bout de 5 minutes, tout est sec. À Punta Cana, vous aurez de l'espace pour marcher sur la plage et les complexes sont grands. Vous ne vous sentirez pas trop à l'étroit. Vous serez très en sécurité sur place, car les tours opérateurs encadrent bien les voyageurs et les complexes sont très sécuritaires.
Je vous souhaite un excellent voyage. Vous ferez de très belles découvertes.

Pour l'avion : statistiquement, les gens ecrivent lorsqu'ils sont mécontents et non l'inverse. Je suis partie avec XWL et Air france, franchement, pas de quoi se plaindre. C'est vrai qu'il n'y a pas une place folle, je ne suis pas taille mannequin non plus et ca allait. Je baissai mon siege au max et je gagnait de l'espace. Prenez un bon bouquin, regardez les films, et profitez ...
La météo: je suis partie 3 fois a punta cana, et les 3 fois la pluie était prévue. j'ai eu de la pluie, 10 20 mn par jour, pas de quoi fouetter un chat. Il n'y a pas de site fiable pour la méteo, sauf a allez sur un site en RD.
et au pire s'il pleut un peu, profitez de l'hotel, de votre mari, c'est le moment de refaire connaissance loin de tout😉, et les cocktails sont bon même sous la pluie !

Moi je peux te parler de la météo. Nous sommes partis le 17.01, la météo à 12 jours et la veille du départ était catastrophe pluie tous les jours. Effectivement, nous sommes arrivés à Punta Cana sous une pluie battante, 10 cm d'eau sur les routes. Ce fut la dernière, ah si 3 averses de 5 mn chacune dans la semaine. Le bonheur.
Pour l'avion, n'aie pas peur, c'est le moyen de locomotion le plus sûr sur Terre. no stress, vraiment.
Et puis l'avion c'est une formalité par rapport à tout ce que vous allez vivre.
Surtout faites des excursions, je vous conseille l'agence Captain Pat à Bayahibé tenue par Patricia, originaire de Lyon, allez sur le site, prestations moins cher que celles offertes par les agences de voyage, journées bien remplies : Ile de Sanoa, Safari.

Tu vas voir, c'est un vrai paradis. Tu n'as qu'à te laisser vivre... tu as tout à portée de la main. C'est fabuleux !
En revanche, je ne peux pas te renseigner pour la Cie XLF, je suis toujours partie avec Corsair. Tu es sure que c'est XLF et non XLAirways ?
Les chambres des hôtels sont magnifiques et le personnel est extra.

Clanaelle ne vous inquiétez pas votre voyage sera super, je suis déjà allée là bas et en suis revenue enchantée. A l'enregistrement de vos bagages à l'aéroport expliquez votre problème ils essayerons de bien vous placer, et surtout demandez à être avec votre conjoint car sinon il arrive d'être séparé😉

Bonjour...moi aussi je pars à Punta Cana samedi le 7 février....je regarde la météo depuis hier et je suis découragée...j'espère vraiment qu'ils se trompent car c'est la première fois que je vois autant de journée de pluie.

Un an à attendre pour aller dans le sud, pour le soleil bien sûr...ce serait vraiment triste que celui-ci ne soit pas au rendez-vous😕
Je me permet de vous répondre car je suis un peu dans votre situation. Je dois aller en République Dominicaine en septembre au Gran Bahia Principe El Portillo. J'ai 31 ans, et mon mari en a 36. C'est notre premier séjour à l'étranger, premier vol en avion également. Nous sommes des personnes trés modestes, et savons que ce voyage sera une exception dans notre vie car nous n'avaons pas les moyens de nous le permettre financiérement. (pour ce voyage-ci, nous avons eu une petite rentrée d'argent inattendue, et nous avons décidés de profiter de la vie pour nous faire le voyage de noce que nous n'avons pas pû faire lors de notre mariage).
Je suis donc un peu dans votre situation puisque jamais pris l'avion (moi non plus, je n'ai pas du tout la taille mannequin, et mon mari non plus!), et j'angoisse beaucoup pour la météo. Je pars en septembre, et c'est le pire mois pour aller en République Dominicaine parait-il! Je me demande vraiment ce que l'on va faire s'il pleut! Je ne me vois pas enfermée dans ma chambre d'hôtel pendant une semaine et me dire que j'ai dépensé autant d'argent pour rester enfermée!
Bref, on verra bien ce qui nous attend, rien ne sert de stresser!

ayayaye !! Moi je pars demain pour puerto plata(casa marina reef) et la température semble affreuse... j'espère que vous avez raison et qu'il va seulement pleuvoir une petite partie de la journée !!!
Pauvre toi, j'espère qu'ils se trompent sur météomédia...sinon quelle semaine de merde tu dois avoir eue....laisse nous le savoir. Moi j'y suis allé du 23 au 1 Fev et nous avons eu de la pluie la journée de notre départ. Par contre, le jour de notre arrivée, notre représentant Go travel nous a confié qu'il y avait eu du tres mauvais temps les 3 jours avant notre arrivée...La température semble chambardée dans ce secteur car habituellement, seul 40 mm de pluie sont attendu au mois de Fev.
c est vrai que l avion c est pas le top un peu trop serre mais tu oublieras vite tellement c est beau pour ce qui est du temps nous avons eut trois averses en huit jours sinon soleil et un peu de nuage et je suis revenue il y a 2 semaines profite bien de tes vacances tu verrat c est super
Voila je suis revenue de la république Dominicaine.....c'est part un temps épouvantable que je suis arrivée sur Punta cana...En pleine tempête tropicale et nous avons de la pluie pendant 4 jours je ne parle pas d'averse je dis bien de la pluie du vent du gris a ne rien pouvoir faire...C'est vrai que le climat est différent et qu'il ne faisait pas froid mais c'était franchement démoralisant VIVE TV5 dans ces cas là ou un bon livre.
Ensuite le soleil est arrivé et ca change tout....Mais pas d'inquiétude car ce pays est merveilleux avec dans gens adorables.
En ce qui concerne le vol et bien pas de soucis non plus je n'ai pas eu de probleme de place...Ce que je peux conseiller c'est d'arriver très tôt à l'enregistrement à l'aréoport moi comme c'était la premiere fois je suis arrivée 1 heure avant (convocquée pour 11heure j'étais là à 10 heure) et comme on ne pouvait pas réserver les places à l avance par internet ou telephone tu peus demender la place que tu veux qui te conviendrai le mieux...à coté d'un hublot ou bien le premier rang à coté de l'issue de secour comme ca personne n'est devant toi!!!
voila des vacances réussie malgré tout meme si nous avons eu la malchance de tomber sur cette tempête notre hotel était très bien et en trois jours làbas j ai bronzé comme en quinze jours au bord de la méditeranée!!! (ne pas oublier une bonne protection si tu crains les coups de soleil)...

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
