Je viens de changer le planning de nos vacances et nous nous sommes décidés à partir en Août pour la Floride ( 2 ad et 2 ados de 13 et 17 ans ). Sincèrement nous ne sommes pas fans de parcs ( enfin surtout les
deux parents 😕 ) Pourquoi: nous avons fait plusieurs fois le Disney de Paris ( les enfants étaient un peu plus jeunes ), L'Europa Parc près de Strasbourg, et encore quelques autres à travers la France et la Belgique. En fait c'est triste à dire mais nous sommes un peu blasés. En 2010 nous sommes allés à Los Angeles voir le parc d"Universal Studios" et nous avons tous trouvé ce parc vieillot ( par rapport à d'autres ) et les attractions et les shows eux aussi un peu désuets ( et toute la famille était d'accord sur ce jugement: les enfants et les 2 adultes ) Alors j'hésite à inclure dans notre tour un passage à Orlando et à la rigueur un parc. Je fais appelle à vos expériences personnelles avec des ados: y a't-il UN parc qui se détache plus d'un autre ? Je pensais à un parc plutôt aquatique ( car en Août la lourde chaleur aidant, il sera probablement apprécié, non ? et puis cela doit être plus original par rapport à ce que nous connaissons en Europe ? ) ou vaut-il mieux laisser tomber sachant que nous avons déjà vu celui de Paris et que celui de Los Angeles nous a largement déçu, malgré la recommandation unanime de tous les guides sur L.A. !!! Question délicate je vous l'accorde, mais s'il y a un parc à ne pas rater sous aucun prétexte: dites-le moi 🙂 sinon nous passerons notre chemin sans trop de regrets.

Je connais très bien Disneyland Paris, Parc Asterix, Disneyland à Anaheim près de LA et accessoirement les parcs belges et hollandais.
WDW et les autres parcs d'Orlando n'ont rien à voir du tout !!!
Nous y avons passé 15 jours il y a 4ans.
Si c'est pour y aller 1 journée c'est vraiment dommage, les enfants seront très déçus... de ne pouvoir en faire plus !

Avec des ados, je te conseille moi aussi Islands of Adventures.
Niveau manèges à sensation fortes c'est le top et la nouvelle zone Harry Potter est très sympa.
Pour ce qui est des parcs aquatiques, Blizzard Beach est très bien et sort de l'ordinaire.

Avant de poster mon message sur le forum, j'ai déjà pas mal lu et pris note de bcp d'informations et c'est justement suite à la lecture de votre périple que je me suis demandée
si ce n'était pas une erreur d'exclure Orlando et les parcs 🤪. C'est simple: lorsque j'ai posé la question aux enfants et à mon mari, si un parc Universal ou Walt Disney à Orlando les intéressaient et ce avec des images du net à l'appui, la réponse fut claire: cela ressemble fort à Los Angeles et à tous les autres, oublie maman, c'est du déjà vu ( ps nous avons aussi fait les grands parcs en Espagne, et il semble que partout c'est toujours le même principe, il n'y a que les thèmes qui changent ). J'avais encore secrètement l'espoir qu'un des parcs sortait réellement du lot.
Merci aussi à freco9177 et à Doni pour leurs conseils: je vais de ce pas aller voir ces 2 parcs de plus près.😉
En préparant mon voyage de 15J en Floride en Novembre 2011. Je m'étais poser la même question.
J'aime plutôt bien les parcs pour les attractions à sensations en règles générales et voici mes "références":
Europa-park : 1 ou 2 attractions pas mal surtout le silverstar
Parc Astérix : 1 montagne russe plutôt cool
Disney : très déçu, vraiment pour les enfant, y compris Space Mountain.
Walibi : c'est vieux je ne me rapelle que d'un grand huit qui fesait le chemin en avant puis en arrière + le totem (j'adore cette attraction que j'ai d'ailleurs retrouvé à Las Vegas au dessus du Stratosphère à plus de 300m --> Géant)
Six Flag Magic Moutain près de Los Angeles : la claque, il y a sans mentir ni exagération au moins 10 attractions qui sont 10 fois plus impressionnantes que tous les parcs ci dessus réunis : mon estomac s'en rappelle encore. Il y a plein d'autres attractions qui sont accessibles au moins téméraire néanmoins. Prix 25$ (offre web acheté le jour même)
J’étais donc plutôt motivé à l'idée de trouver un parc avec la renommé d'Orlando et au fil de mes recherches, je me suis rendu compte que la plupart était un peu vieillissant, des thèmes un peu pourris et pas très intéressant en termes d'activités. (Le Disney est apparemment la copie de celui de Paris...enfin plutôt l'inverse :-) ).
Les prix sont ahurissents, le moindre parc est à 80$. Pour les attractions, il faut passer sont chemin, le seul qui m'aurait tenter : sea world. Au final j'ai préférer garder mon argent pour une petit excursion pour voir des dauphins sauvages dans les keys. Je ne regrette pas.
Bref je ne connais pas votre planning mais au final plus que de l'argent c'est peut être une journée et des miles que vous pouvez économisez.
(Je recommanderai : les Keys, Kennedy Space Center, Everglades si ce n'est pas déjà prévu).
A Islands of adventure on s'amuse beaucoup mais on retrouve le principe des attractions habituelles : Roller coaster, splash, bouées sur la rivière à remous... A l'exception de Spiderman qui combine plusieurs genre et est vraiment l'attraction la plus impressionnante de toutes à mon gout !
Pour moi, le parc qui "sort du lot" à Orlando se trouve à WDW et c'est EPCOT. Qui l'eut cru ? C'est un "vieux" parc mais il y a des attractions qui n'existent pas ailleurs dans la partie moderne (et nombreuses en plus) et les pavillons des pays autour du lac sont vraiment sympas.
Sinon, si vous n'avez pas vu Seaworld à San Diego, celui de Orlando vaut le coup.

Famille avec 2 ados de 13et16 ans, nous sommes allés trois années consécutives en Floride avec a chaque séjour un stop de 2 jours a Orlando et toujours en aout ; s'il n'y en a qu'un qui se différencie de tout ce que nos yeux d'européens ont pu connaitre, je suis d'accord avec Cendryon, c'est Epcot ! Une partie promenade dans les mini villages du monde reconstitues et une partie attractions (ne pas rater celle de "soarin.." et celle a l'intérieur de la grosse boule blanche a l'entrée) ; le parc Disney "animal kingdom" est différent également sur le thème des animaux de la jungle (on peut y faire un simulacre de safari mais c'est qd meme rigolo); nous avons également été 2 fois a Adventure Island et les 2 attractions qui sortent vraiment du lot sont Harry Potter (on a l'impression d'être sur un balai volant et de survoler Poudlard) et Spiderman en 3D...Peut être que la visite de la base de lancement Cap Canaveral vaut également le coup?je ne peux pas vous dire...
Un petit conseil: pensez a prendre avec vous des petites bombes spray d'eau minérale pour vous rafraichir car il fait environ 35°C et sachez que si vous logez dans un des 3 hotels Universal, le fast past est inclus avec votre carte de chambre a Adventure I (sauf pour Harry Potter c'aurait été trop beau...)

Bon voyage et n'oubliez pas d'aller jusqu'à Key West !
+1 pour Epcot mais il n'y a pas de grande sensation si c'est ce que vous cherchez.
Seaworld aussi est inédit sauf si vous avez vu Marineland à St Laurent du Var.
Les parcs sont très bien conçus pour la chaleur en été, beaucoup d'endroits sont à l'ombre et il y a des brumisateurs partout.
Sinon, je suis une grande fan de Cap Canaveral et là c'est que du vrai 😉

Je suis enfin convaincue: je zappe Orlando. Cap sur les fringues branchées, et surtout planning d'une excursion ( probablement lors de notre halte de deux nuits à Key West ) d'une sortie en mer pour voir des dauphins sauvages et faire du snorkeling en espérant que c'est la bonne période. Cela a été voté à l'unanimité absolue. Et on va inclure une visite de Cap Canaveral dans notre tour, car tout le monde veut voir cet endroit mythique de la conquête spatiale.🙂🙂🙂
Lorsque j'ai fais mon excursion (Dauphins à Key West), j'avais poser la question au capitaine sur les meilleurs saisons pour voir les dauphins:
- pas de saisons, pas d'horaires : il font des excursions tous les jours et depuis plusieurs années, il n'est quasiment jamais arrivé de ne pas en voir.
D'ailleurs toutes les compagnies t'offre une excursion gratuite si pas de dauphins en règle générale
Attention le snorkeling : un peu déçu pour ma part. C'est sympa mais ce n'est pas de l'eau turquoise avec des poisons de toutes les couleurs comme à la télé ( perso j'ai vu : un bar, un poisson noir comme dans nemo, une meduse..sinon des poissons gris un peu banal).
Pour le KSC, je conseillerai la visite du VAB (+25$) que je n'ai malheureusement pas pu faire (heureusement compensé par le décollage d'une fusée en direction de Mars). Il y a en plus une des 3 navette encore entreposées à l'intérieur du VAB. Le reste est plutôt intéressant mais fait plus musée/parc plus qu'une visite d'un site en activité.
Ce qui est amusant c'est la différence de perception d'une personne à l'autre. C'est d'ailleurs tout l'intérêt des forum ! 😉
Nous n'avons nous pas accroché à l'esprit Cap Canaveral... Mais alors pas du tout. 🤪
Le lieu mythique est devenu un parc d'attraction équivalent à un Disneyland... Demi tour immédiat pour ce qui nous concerne. 🤪
Par contre, nous avons fait plusieurs snorkelling (4 ou 5) entre Key Largo, Bahia Honda et Key West. Et quel bonheur ! 😉
Des poissons magnifiques de toutes les couleurs, une barrière de corail très vivante, des langoustes à gogo, des tortues de mer...

Il n'y a pas vraiment de période pour voir des dauphins. Si vous prenez un bateau, vous en verrez forcément. Les tours savent où aller et finissent toujours pas vous en trouver quelques uns ! 😉
Attention ! A Key West, je vous déconseille vivement les tour snorkelling classiques sur les catamaran du style FURY !!! 🤪
Vous allez vous retrouver sur un bateau avec 90 autres personnes, une véritable usine.
Bien entendu, c'est plus cher ! (75$ par personne). Mais quel bonheur ! Un superbe voilier, une balade en canoé dans les mangroves au beau milieu de rien ! et un snorkelling sympa. Une équipe jeune et sympa. Un vrai capitaine de bateau, et pas un étudiant bronzé qui se la pète... Bref, croyez moi, c'est du vécu. 😉
Pour les parcs d'attraction, je me retrouve tout à fait dans vos propos. Nous avons été tout de même à Orlando quelques jours et ... Quelle déception. Les files d'attente; la chaleur, les attractions toutes tellement prévisibles. Des entrées de parc à 100 $ par jour, de la nourriture très basique et chère... De longues files d'attente...
Sur 5 jours que nous avions prévu à Orlando, Nous nous sommes finalement esquivés deux jours sur la côte pour profiter du calme et de la plage ! 😉
Nous avons fait une tentative pour voir le Magic Kingdom, animal Kingdom et Epcot.
J'avais un très bon souvenir de Epcot il y a quelques années... J'ai trouvé en 2011 que ce parc avait terriblement vieillit.
Il y a 15 ans en arrière, le parc était encore très novateur... aujourd'hui, cela donne une impression de vieux parc qui a un peu oublié d'évoluer. 🤪
Animal Kingdom est sympa, les décors sont très beaux et agréables à découvrir. Par contre ce parc manque un peu d'attractions...
Pour ce qui concerne le magic Kingdom, il nous a fallut 1H30 pour arriver devant l'entrée du parc à partir du moment ou nous avons franchi l'entrée du Parking Disney... Déjà pas très motivant entre les parking super loin, la navette, le monorail la queue à l'entrée... 🤪 Rien que cela suffit à ne plus avoir envie d'y aller ! 😛
Les Magic Kingdom de Anaheim et Paris sont vraiment mieux. (Attention ! Ce n'est que mon avis ! 😉)

En conclusion, je dirais qu'il y a beaucoup de belle choses à faire et à voir en Floride et que les parc d'attraction ne doivent pas être une priorité.
Pour info, j'ai été abonné annuel à à Disney Paris pendant 3 ans ! J'ai fait deux fois Disney Anahein et 2 fois WDW Floride.
Donc à la base "j'étais" un acharné des parcs Disney ! 😉... Il me semble qu'il y a quelques années Les Parcs disney avaient quelque chose à raconter... Aujourd'hui, le rêve est devenu une machine à dollars. 🤪

La réponse de blacksheep13 m'avait déjà fait douter du fait d'inclure du snorkeling dans le planning de nos vacances. Il est vrai que l'année dernière à Pâques, nous étions en Malaisie, sur l'île de Tioman et nous en avons pris plein la vue: poissons multicolores, bébés requins, tortues, ...et même de beaux varans qui se promenaient sur la plage. Or si c'était pour trouver en Floride une pâle copie de ce que nous avions vu en mer de Chine, j'étais déjà bien sceptique. De plus j'avais déjà trouver sur un autre post votre lien pour la sortie en mer en nombre restreint, et je l'avais déjà sauvegarder sur notre planning. Juste une question: comme nous y serons en Août 2012 vaut=il mieux réserver cette excursion 1 ou 2 mois avant de partir ou alors attendre d'être sur place aux usa et réserver 2 ou 3 jours avant ? Merci 😉

Cependant j'ai une petite question : J'ai une petite fille de 5 ans (presque 6). Est-ce faisable pour elle à ton avis ? Je suppose que oui, mais je compte réserver via internet et donc j'aimerai en être sur avant.

Je ne vois pas trop le problème que cela pourrait poser... Du moment qu'elle sait nager et que vous l'accompagnez...
C'est amusant parce que c'est ce que je pense aussi pour ce qui concerne la partie USA.
Par contre j'ai eu l'occasion de pratiquer la partie Asie du sud-est et notamment le Vietnam et c'est une tout autre histoire !... 😉 Conflits en continu ! 😎😛

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
