Bonjour, Fin mai nous partons faire un voyage en Argentine et Bolivie. Au centre de vaccination de ma région on me dit qu'il peut y avoir des contrôles à la fontière concernant la fièvre jaune. Le problème est qu'on ne me dit pas si le vaccin est obligatoire ou juste recommandé pour passer d'Argentine en Bolivie. Si je regarde la carte de zone endémique, tout l'itinéraire de notre voyage contourne cette zone, on sera principlament sur l'altiplano et pas du tout en Amazonie. En fait, le vaccin n 'est pas obligatoire si je vais directement en Bolivie depuis la Suisse. J'ai écrit à l'embassade de Bolivie mais je n'ai pas reçu de réponse à ce jour, Je n'ai pas envie de faire un vaccin si ça n'est pas vraiment nécessaire.
J'espère que quelqu'un pourra éclairer ma lanterne!!!
Normalement il n'y a pas des contrôles de vaccins au moment d'arriver en Bolivie, cependant ça sera bien de se faire vacciner en cas où vous décideriez de bouger un peu sur la partie amazoniene, mais dans ce cas là, en Bolivie il y a les vaccins nécessaires.
il me semble que ce vaccin peut être exigé à l'immigration de certains pays si tu as été en Bolivie. Par exemple, si tu fais Bolivie puis Argentine ou Chili, il se peut qu'il y ait un problème. Mais honnêtement, j'ai fait la Bolivie puis l'Argentine, le Pérou et le Chili il y a deux mois et on ne m'a rien demandé du tout. Mais si j'ai tout compris, tu ferais la Bolivie à la fin, donc normalement pas de souci. Bon, informations à verifier...
En principe pas nécessaire, mais si tu décides de virer vers l'Amazonie de part le pays que tu veux, il faudrait l'avoir afin de protéger les peuples de la jungle. Du côté Brésil, dès que tu y entre tu dois l'avoir même pour visiter la partie brésilienne des chutes Iguazu qui n'est pas dans la jungle profonde.
En ce moment il y a beaucoup des greves (tous les jours, les matins et les aprem), mais les manifs (surtout a La Paz) sont pacifiques, il y a rien a craindre. Pourtant, il y a une blocage de la route que connecte la Bolivie avec le Chili. A part ca tout est normale =).
J'arrive un peu après la bataille, mais je voudrais donner ici mon point de vue sur ce problème auquel j'ai été souvent confronté, et encore aujourd'hui avec les inondations du Chaco où les moustiques prolifèrent.
Après chacun en fera ce qu'il voudra...

Jusqu'à présent, cette maladie ne m'avait jamais vraiment préoccupé. Il faut dire que le Paraguay ne fait pas partie de la carte. Les moustiques frontaliers d'Amazonie brésilienne et bolivienne sont très disciplinés et ne passent pas la frontière paraguayenne. En fait, ils détestent la harpe, et au Paraguay, tout le monde joue de la harpe !
A voir la carte ci-dessous, en Amérique latine la fièvre jaune semble être une maladie réservée au bassin amazonien et aux autres pays comme la Colombie qui possèdent des forêts avec des singes.
Mais alors, pourquoi le Nicaragua, le Costa Rica, Panama, tous possédant diverses espèces de singes et des forêts luxuriantes ne font-ils pas partie de la carte ?
Quoi qu'il en soit, j'avais vu sur une discussion VF juillet 2011 tous les effets secondaires de la vaccination, et ça ne m'enchante guère de tenter l'aventure :
J'ai cherché à me rassurer en me disant que personne n'est jamais mort de la fièvre jaune dans un rayon de 150 km autour d'Asuncion. Il faut faire au moins 200 km pour trouver les premiers singes dans le Chaco.
Il y a très peu de temps, je me suis dit que vivant en permanence en Amérique latine, de surcroît avec un âge un peu avancé, il fallait que je m'informe un peu sur la réalité de cette maladie. Les avis ici et là sont extrêmement contradictoires. Certains disent que la maladie est bénigne dans 85 % des cas, avec complications entraînant la mort dans la moitié des 15 % restants, c'est-à-dire qu'elle serait mortelle de 7 à 10 % des cas. D'autres sites comme celui du gouvernement précise que sur les 15 % des cas complications, la moitié des gens contaminés meure s'ils ne sont pas traités. Personne ne dit quoi que ce soit de précis quant aux gens qui sont traités... Et traiter avec quoi ? Puisqu'il n'y a en théorie aucun traitement possible sinon celui d'éviter la déshydratation...
En réalité et quand on regarde bien, la fièvre jaune est (en cas de complications) une maladie absolument terrible.
J'ai donc décidé de me faire vacciner et de prendre les risques des effets secondaires. Certes je vis dans une zone exempte de fièvre jaune, mais je fais de fréquents allers-retours à Ciudad del Este ainsi que dans le Chaco qui sont tous les deux des zones à risques, principalement le Chaco en période d'inondations où les moustiques pullulent dans les retenues d'eau le temps que celle-ci s'évapore, et où les singes y sont très nombreux.
Mais moi, je vis ici toute l'année, le risque étant proportionnel au temps d'exposition et à l'âge, je suis donc un cas à haut risque !
Pour un jeune vacancier, randonneur ou simple touriste qui vient faire une incursion de quelques jours, c'est évidemment très différent.
C'est à chacun d'apprécier, mais je conseille à tous de suivre l'avis de Rodolfo qui vit en Bolivie.

Désolé de contredire Elcanadiense mais je vais tout le temps aux chutes, et toujours du côté brésilien c'est plus facile pour moi. Je ne sais pas combien de fois j'y suis allé, allez, on va dire entre 15 à 20 fois, c'est à dire chaque fois que j'ai des visiteurs.
Je suis formel, il n'est demandé absolument aucune vaccination.
Et bien en regardant cette carte, on ne va pas passer dans les zones à risque!!! Savez vous ce qu'il pourrait nous arriver si on nous réclame le vaccin à la frontière et que l'on ne l'a pas fait?
si un vaccin est obligatoire, qu'on te le réclame et que tu ne l'as pas fait, on ne va pas te laisser passer.
S'il n'est pas obligatoire, on ne devrait pas te le réclamer.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

For several years now, increased aggression has been observed in Cape fur seals.

It was recently confirmed that this is due to rabies.
The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.
Preventive vaccination (of the animals) is being considered.

It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
