Et chaque année, grâce à vous, nous partons quelques jours en escapade en Italie que nous adorons et laissons les ados à Fréjus.
1ere fois les 5 terres. Superbe.
2ème fois le lac de Garde, le lac Majeur, le lac d'Orta et la magnifique Venise.
L'année dernière: la toscane (en passant par Portofino puis les incontournables Pise, Florence et ma préférée Sienne et plage à Sestri Levante) puis Barolo, la Morra, Monforte de Alba, Cunéo et retour par les impressionnants lacets du col de Tende!
Cette année, je m'étais dit pourquoi pas aller jusqu'à Rome mais comme la deuxième partie de nos vacances, nous allons une semaine à Barcelone...j'ai peur de faire un indigestion des grandes villes..
Je m'étais dit pourquoi pas aller jusqu'au lac de Côme que nous n'avons pas eu le temps de faire?
Y a t'il des endroits sympas sur notre chemin où nous pourrions nous arrêter à l'allée ou au retour?
Et la région de Turin? Quelqu'un connait 'il des coins sympas?
J'aime les vielles villes, les charmants villages, les belles campagnes et les jolies montagnes.
Auriez vous des idées?

Oui moi aussi je vous conseille l'Ombrie: Assise et ses alentours, Gubbio, Norcia, Orvieto etc. etc.... prenez un guide et vous verrez combien de choses à voir dans une région pas énorme!
L'ombrie est un excellent choix dans l'esprit de la Toscane et située tout juste au sud de celle-ci. J'y ai vu Assise, Gubbio et Perugia, 3 merveilleux endroits. Et tant qu'à y être, si vous n'avez pas vu le sud de la Toscane avec par exemple Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, l'abbaye de Sant'antimo, profitez-en. C'est personnellement mon coin préféré de la Toscane: tellement beau et typique avec ses vallons.
Sinon, Pourquoi pas la Côte Amalfitaine et les alentours? Des paysages à couper le souffle(un peu dans l'esprit des Cinque terre) avec des villages comme Amalfi, Ravello, Positano ou Sorrento, pour ne nommer que ceux-ci. Vous pourriez également aller sur le Vésuve pour une expérience unique, sans oublier les ruines historiques de Pompei ou Herculanum.
Sinon, si vous choisissez Rome, il s'agit d'une ville fort différente de Barcelone. J'y ai passé une semaine en avril dernier. J'adore cette ville, remplie d'histoire, d'il y a 2000 ans à aujourd'hui, de Piazzas sympathiques, de musées fabuleux et d'églises historiques bien sûr.
De toute façon, n'importe lequel de ces choix vous fera un merveilleux moment de vacances. Il n'y décidément pas grand chose d'ennuyeux en Italie!😉

Au départ, j'avais plutôt l'intention d'aller vers le nord ou les Alpes mais l'Ombrie remporte un tel enthousiasme de votre part à tous les trois que je pense que, si le voyage en Italie se confirme cette année, la voiture prendra la direction du sud...
Ce qui fait plaisir quand je vous lis, c'est que vous êtes visiblement comme moi à apprécier et profiter de tout ce que vous voyez!

Après quelques jours dans la merveilleuse Venise en 2010, nous avons passé 3 jours dans les paysages spectaculaires des Dolomites: Cortina d'Ampezzo, Canazei, Ortesei, Les routes en lacets, les marches en très hautes montagnes aux Tre cime Di Lavaredo, le bleu turquoise du lac de braie... 3 splendides journées!

C'est drole que vous parliez des dolimites parce que j'adorerai y aller.
Je me suis interessée à cette région quand nous sommes allés à Venise et j'avais trouvé ça absolument superbe et les paysages très reposants.
J'ai l'impression que ça nous fait beaucoup plus de route en partant de Fréjus que l'Ombrie.
Mais peut être que je me trompe.
Vos photos sont magnifiques.
Et cela confirme le sentiment que j'avais déjà eu sur cette région.
Par contre, l'ombrie, j'en avais jamis entendu parler!
Et j'ai trouvé ça chouette aussi.
Quel maheur, plus on voyage, plus on a envie de voyager et de voir tout ce qu'on a pas eu le temps de visiter!!!
Moi aussi je suis parfaitement consciente à chaque instant de mes voyages de ma chance et mon bonheur.
J'en rêve longtemps à l'avance et je savoure mes souvenir longtemps après.
J'ai beaucoup voyagé virtuellement en lisant des récits de voyage et d'aventure puis à 40 ans, je me suis décidée à prendre les choses en main:
3 jours à Paris seule avec les enfants car mon mari bossait.
Un peu ridicule mais une grosse aventure pour moi.
Elle a changé ma vie.
Toutes les expériences de voyage qui ont suivies ont été plus merveilleuses les uns que les autres.
Même chose pour moi: dans ma trente-neuvième année, je me disais que je voulais marquer mes 40 ans d'une façon particulière, que j'avais besoin de faire un point d'arrêt et marquant. Nous avons donc décidé d'aller faire un "tour de France" avec ma douce et mon garçon. Si je vous expliquais mon voyage en nombre de kilomètres parcourus, vous nous trouveriez complètement cinglés! Mais ce voyage m'a ouvert les yeux sur un autre continent, d'autres gens, d'autres mentalités. Et la France étant tellement diversifiée, nous y sommes retournés 3 autres fois depuis, sommes allés 3 fois en Italie, en Grèce et nous quittons dimanche pour le Portugal avec petite incursion en Espagne.
Le problème pour nous de ce côté de l'Atlantique, aller en Europe coûte très cher. C'est $3000 minimum de billets d'avion en partant. Il est très difficile pour 3 personnes, en logeant dans des endroits corrects, de s'en tirer en bas de $9000 pour 15-16 jours.
C'est beaucoup de sous, mais la récompense, ce sont les moments passés en famille à découvrir et partager. Ensuite c'est la tête remplie de souvenirs. Et de repenser à un moment de voyage, ça me rend heureux. Tous les jours, il y a une occasion, un moment qui te rappelle un endroit visité, des gens rencontrés.
Je ne pourrais mieux investir $9000 par année pour mon bonheur qu'en voyageant.

Vous avez déjà pas mal voyagé en Italie. Moi j'ai vraiment adoré Rome, cette ville est tout simplement la plus belle (avec Paris :p) . Si vous décidez de visiter la capitale, je serais ravie de vous donner quelques conseils et infos pratiques pour y aller . As-tu pensé à la côte amalfitaine qui est superbe ? Sorrente, Amalfi, Ravello, Naples, Pompéi et Herculanum, le Vésuve, Positano ... et Capri depuis Sorrente ....
Nous allons cette année 13 jours à fréjus avec nos grand ados (16 et 18 ans).
Sur cette période, nous partirons en amoureux 5/6 jours comme les années précédentes en Italie mais je n'ai pas encore déterminée où mais ça progresse!
Puis nous partons une semaine en espagne L'escala, Stiges, Barcelone 4 jours et pour finir Cadaques (déjà reservé et plus ou moins ficelé!)
Je navigue donc en ce moment sur le forum entre l'Espagne et l'Italie.
Après avoir passé une heure à lire ce qu'on dit sur Barcelone dans le forum, je quitte ce pays sur un dernier blog de voyage en image... Très bien fait d'ailleurs car les images + explications, ça me parle bien!
C'est donc sur ton récit que je termine mon voyage virtuel en Espagne.
Et je retourne en Italie voir ce qu'on raconte sur les Dolomites, l'Ombrie ou la côte Amalfitaine!
Je constate avec amusement qu'à peine quitté, je te retrouve dans la conversation que j'ai lancé" Où vais je cette été?"

Effectivement, je ne connaissais pas la côte Amalfitaine et j'ai été voir les photos... c'est superbe.
Mais cet endroit a un inconvénient majeur : c'est sous Rome.
J'ai regardé sur michelin et en gros Fréjus/Ravello, c'est 11h de route pour 1000 kilomètres.
Cela me fait un peu beaucoup pour cette année...même si c'est juste un projet repoussé (comme Rome et comme tant d'autres choses!!
Fréjus/Peruglia : 7h04 pour 639 kilomètres.
Et Fréjus/Canasci: 7h47 pour 691 kilomètres... Ce qui signifie que les dolomites ont un pourcentage de chance à peu près identiques à L'ombrie!!!

la Touraine-Frégus
Puis Frégus-les Dolimotes.
puis les Dolomites- Frégus
Puis Frégus-Barcelonne.
puis Barcelonne-la Touraine...C'est pas très concentré comme itinéraire en plus ou moins de 3 semaines...
Cela fait pas mal de bornes....
Mais on est cap de le faire.
On verra selon l'humeur, le prix de l'essence, la météo...etc.
Il est possible qu'on aille jusqu'au lac de Côme le premier jour et qu'on tire à pile ou face si on va vers les Dolomites à droites ou vers Turin et les Alpes à gauche!!!
L'avantage de dormir dans la voiture, c'est qu'on est libre comme l'air.
(L'inconvénient...c'est qu'est ce que je dors mal...l'année dernière, j'ai dit à mon homme en Toscane "tu peux pas m'emmener de temps en temps dans un hôtel 3 étoiles?" et il me répond " je comprendrais jamais les femmes, je t'offre une nuit avec des milliers d'étoiles ma chérie....").

Nous arriverons peut être par Tende puis Cunéo...
Pour ma petite contribution, avec ma copine on a fait un petit tour de l'Italie l'an dernier, superbe pays. En Toscane, on adoré Florence évidemment, je te conseille aussi de petits villages qui sont magnifiques, notamment Monterrigioni (un village médiéval totalement conservé avec ses fortifications et Pitigliano, creusé dans la roche entre 2 gorges, regarde peut-être les images sur google, on est complètement tombé sous le charme).
Le parc des Maremmes également un endroit magnifique pour randonner.
En Ombrie, on a fait le crochet par Perugia pour le Umbria Jazz Festival (Prince en tête d'affiche l'an dernier), et on est également complètement tombé sous le charme de la ville, extrèmement bien conservé, tout en terrasse, assez unique... et la région est très belle également.
Autour des Alpes, on n'a fait que le Lac de Come, un endroit où on ne manquera de retourner. On a campé à Menagio, le lieu est superbe, les randonnées tout autour sont nombreuses et offrent un panorama exceptionnel sur le lac et les montagnes environnantes ! A faire aussi :)

Effectivement, l'année dernière nous avons fait une partie de la toscane et nous y avions vu Pize, Lucca, Sienne, Monterriggioni, San Gimignano et Florence.

Par contre, nous n'avons pas été au Sud de la région et vraiment, il semble qu'elle vaille le détour!

J'ai aussi repéré grâce à ton blog la plage à Marina di Grosseto dans le parc de Maremme qui peut offrir une halte sympathique.
Je ne sais pas si nous irons en Ombrie cette année mais cette destination nous tente beaucoup et si le projet ne se réalise pas cette année, il sera juste reporté.
Une des autres alternatives est d'aller, comme tu l'as fait, au lac de Cöme qui est le seul lac Italien du Nord que nous n'avons pas visité.
Et de Menaggio, voir où on bouge!
Les Dolomites me branchent bien du point de vue des paysages mais j'ai peur que les randonnées soient vraiment trop dur pour moi et il y a autant de route que pour descendre au sud de la Toscane!
L'avantage, quand on a pas besoin de reserver à l'avance, c'est qu'on peut improviser quand on sait toutes les possibilités qu'une région propose!

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...
