Conduire en scoot, cela peut craindre de jour comme de nuit. Cela dépend de toi, de la météo, des autres, de la route, des amulettes que tu possèdes et si t'as offert un fanta le matin dans la maison des esprits...
En fin de journée, il arrive que des barrages policiers collecte des pourboires.
En gros, tous les scoots sont stoppés, on te demande où est passé ton casque, où est ton permis, ... enfin peut-importe le motif, et tu vas payer tes 500 bahts à l'aubette plus loin, où te donneras un joli reçu. 😠
attention grande prudence à phuket à tenir... il ya beaucoup de touristes grièvement blessés ou dcd sur les routes de phuket et autres coins d'asie du sud est...
il n'ya pas de règle là bas....la conduite est à gauche et même si on est habitué dans un autre pays du genre là bas faut faire très très attention....il ya de grands dangers surtout dans les virages (bon nombre de thai coupe les virages et double sans avoir de vue devant) des animaux parfois provoquent des accidents...
être très prudent justement la nuit par exemple quand on se rend de kamala beach à patong ou de kata beach à patong.....nombreux trous dans les routes etc etc...
même quelques habitués du deux roues qui étaient trop sur d'eux là bas sur place ont eu un grave accident un expat est mort récemment
il y a divers post à ce sujet de mise en garde...
donc il vaut mieux louer avec une CBdu style visa premier auprès de son hôtel pour que si on a un pépin l'assurance prenne en charge frais médicaux etc....il ya la franchise racheté si accident matériel. vaut mieux payer un peu plus cher qu'à la sauvette où si vous avez un problème matériel vous risqueriez de le payer très très cher....
emmener le permis de conduire si controle de police vous aurez une amende....
les thail et même touristes roulent parfois alcoolisés et évidemment ne respectent aucun code de la route....c'est vraiment ahurissant de voir ça....mais bon en afrique c'est aussi le cas bien sur mais là c'est fou.....les 24 voyages sur place je vois à chaque fois des terribles accidents de touristes impliqués sur les deux roues.....vous n'aurez aucun gain de cause si vous percutez un thailandais à cause de lui même... la police vous emmenera au post et ce sera une grosse somme d'argent à payer pour les dommages ou la prison et confisquation passeport.....idem dans l'assurance de la carte bleue visa premier il ya assistance juridique.....
prudence prudence... même prudent de toutes les façons il y en a qui ont des pépins.. nous c'est la marche ou taxis... on prends pas des risques.. on espère évidemment quand on monte dans tuc tuc ou bus ou taxi qu'ils nous crashent pas!!!!!bref .. vous êtes prévenue
Quand tu vois des personnes en scooter sortir d'une rue, sans observer la priorité, sacs en plastiques au guidon, les 2 gosses derrière, le portable à la main, sur une route mouillée, faut être solide et avoir 4 paires d'yeux pour pas avoir un accident.🤪
Quand l'eau baisse les fourmis mangent les poissons; quand l'eau monte les poissons mangent les fourmis.
Il n'y a que le changement qui ne change pas.
Surtout ne conduissez jamais la nuit !
Sur la route, il faut faire tout le temps attention même pendant la journée et
portez toujours du casque et surtout pas de tongues aux pieds pour conduire un scooter ou une moto.

C'est vrai qu'on a tendance a pas prendre au sérieux les avertissements pensant que tout va rouler mais quand l'accident arrive on fait moins les malins.
On a loué un scoot à chiang mai..on nous l'avait déconseillé et o final tout c super bien passé..sur l'ile de koh phangan aussi a plusieurs reprises..en terme de circulation sur koh phangan ya pas grand monde mais les pentes et les descentes c'est quelques choses lol..mais bon c'etait cool aussi.
on est prudent, on a le casque qui soit dit en passant ressemble a celui des vélos lol et on a le permis..on boit pas si on prend le scoot..et puis on s'est fait la main sur Marseille c'est pas n'importe quelle ville en terme d'incivau volant lol
En tout cas on sera prudent..balader en scooter en thailande du moins les endroits ou je suis allée c'est vraiment le pied..on se sent libre..mais bon phuket m'a l'air bien spéciale..de toute manière si je ne me sens pas en sécurité j'opterai pour la marche et les tuktuk..
En tout cas merci..je vais regarder sur google les distances entre les villes pour me donner une idée du périple.

Il existe un service de bus de jour (songthaew) à destination de la plupart des villes de l'île. Songthaew (qui signifie ‘deux rangs’) fait référence aux deux bancs de bois disposés à l'intérieur, de chaque côté de ce véhicule coloré et en bois. Chaque bus a son circuit entre une ville de bord de mer, comme par exemple Patong, et l'arrêt de bus, garage des songthaew, sur Ranong Road à Phuket-Ville. Le prix du billet entre Patong et Phuket-Ville est de 15 Baht, et le trajet dure environ trente minutes. Malheureusement, ils ne parcourent pas le nouveau réseau routier de l'île, et ne circulent pas de plages en plages. Pour aller par exemple de Patong à Karon beach, sept kilomètres plus loin, vous devez d'abord faire 15 kilomètres en songthaew vers Phuket-Ville, en reprendre alors un autre qui fera les 20 kilomètres jusqu'à Karon Beach. Tout effort pour améliorer le service des bus, ou simplement rallonger la durée de leur journée de service, provoque une opposition violente des chauffeurs de tuk-tuk (taxi) qui soutiennent que cela réduirait leur activité. Comparé au tuk-tuk, le songthaew est généralement plus sûr, avec moins d'histoires, un chauffeur sain d'esprit et sobre, et à un prix nettement inférieur. La concurrence est rude. Une option possible est de louer un songthaew avec chauffeur pour la journée, pour une visite de l'île ou un safari plages, le prix par personne étant raisonnable si vous partez en groupe.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.

Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
