J'ai acheté des billets tous avec Vietnam Airlines et je serai en transit pendant plus de 10 heures à l'aller et au retour.
J'aimerais savoir si un visa est nécessaire si on reste à l'aéroport ? S'il est nécessaire, recommandez-vous d'aller en ville ? (le ministère des affaires étrangères ne fais pas beaucoup de pub pour le Vietnam...)
Concernant le bagage en soute, sera-t-il directement transféré vers mon prochain vol ou devrais-je le récupérer et sortir de la zone sous douane ?
Avec plus de 10h d'escale à l'intérieur de l'aeroport, c'est vraiment triste, surout aux aeroports du Vietnam. Il faut sortir pour changer d'air. Malheuresement il vous faut un visa de multie d'entrée comme vous aurez 2 fois d'escale de plus de 10h. Avec ce temps, vous pouvez:
1- Aller visiter vite la ville de Hanoi:
- Transfert: il faut 45' de transfert au centre de la ville par le transfert privé.
- Visite suggerée: mausolée de HoChiMinh, sa maison sur pilotis et de la pagode au Piler Unique (60'), le temple de la Literrature (60'), le musée d'Ethnographie (1h30'), le petit lac Hoan Kiem et son vieu quartier pour shopping (1h30'), le lac de l'Ouest avec la pagode Tran Quoc et le temple Quan Thanh (60 tous les 2), un tour de cylo pousse dans le vieux quartier (60'), un spectacle de marionnettes sur l'eau (60')
2- Visite d'un village ancien et des pagodes:
2e escale: vous pouvez faire une visite du village ancien de Duong Lam a 1h30' de l'aeroport ou abritent des anciennes maisons, maisons communales, pagode plus de 200 ans, rencontre des paysans sympas aux champs de rizieres. Sur la route, vous pouvez visiter une superbe pagode Tay Phuong ou Chua Thay en plein de nature de rizieres ou colines verdoyantes. Ce sont de tres anciennes pagodes construites de puis plus de 10 siecles ou abritent de tres belles collection de statues de Bouddhas en bois, terre ou bronze.
Pour le Visa: Vous devez compter une lettre d'approbation pour une personne a 15$ et le Visa de multiple d'entrée a 50$/timbre. Tres important: vous pouvez le faire a votre arrivee au Vietnam. Ca coute moins cher de faire a l'Ambassade Vietnam en France et ca economise de votre temps.
Pour vos affaires, en principe, elles restent dans la soute de l'avion ou dns l'aeroport donc il vous faut preparer des necessites pour la sortie des activites dehors.
La question est l'heure de votre est cale: de quelle heure a quelle heure pour pouvoir vous donner des suggestions plus favorables?
J'espere que ca vous aide envisager ce que pouvoir faire a votre escale a Hanoi.

Alors le premier jour j'arriverai à 6:30 le 23 août et je repartirai à 17:30 pour Taipei. Tandis qu'au retour, j'arriverai le 9 septembre à 9:30 et je repartirai à 23:25.

Je suis bien conscient qu'il serait dommage de passer par le Vietnam sans visiter la ville avec autant de temps, mais si ça ne me dérange pas de me promener avec une valise cabine avec une besace dessus, me promener avec une grosse valise en plus risque d'être un peu plus compliqué...

Seule une agence de voyage est habilitée peut demander la lettre d'invitation pour le visa.

Il suffit d'acheter une SIM Viettel à 65 000 VND à la boutique Viettel qui se trouve près du théâtre des marionnettes sur l'eau et vous utilisez votre iphone comme en France.

Je vous déconseille fortement d'essayer de prendre les bus 7 et 17 - ils ont changé de place et se trouvent maintenant au milieu de nulle part, en contrebas de l'aéroport, après avoir descendu une longue rampe qui arrive au bout en passant sur un petit bout de pelouse - c'est absolument inaccessible car c'est long, malaisé, et avec des bagages ça prend des allures de parcours du combattant..(de plus en temps normal sans embouteillages ni rien, comptez plus d'une heure largement - la dernière fois, j'ai mis une heure et demie....😕
Donc taxis ou éventuellemet navettes qui stationnent en sortant à droite, mais ça risque de vous déposer assez loin de l'endroit que vous désirez voir.

Oui le problème "taxi" existe à Hanoi, beaucoup moins qu'à Ho chi minh ville, mais il existe - Je pense que le mieux serait de demander le prix avant de monter, fermement, (c'est aux alentours de 10/12$ maxi) - perso je n'ai jamais eu de problèmes, mais.... - 😉 il ne vous fera pas faire de détours comme en Chine ou comme à Ho Chi Minh ville, mais il risque d'avoir un compteur qui tourne comme un ventilateur...à ce moment là, dites lui stop et parlez lui du "canh sat" la police.... -
Vous pouvez reprendre la navette Vietnam airlines, sur la rue Quang Trung, à côté de cette compagnie, qui se trouve sur Trang Thi, mais c'est au sud du lac, pas bien loin, mais ce n'est pas le centre des Pho Co. - Si vous vous y rendez, prévoyez une dizaine de minutes supplémentaires.

Vous pouvez aussi téléphoner à Vietnam Airlines, en leur demandant comment ça se passe dans ces cas là...Soit ils n'en savent encore rien et ne veulent pas spéculer soit ils vous renseigneront dûment et vous annonceront que quoi qu'il arrive, votre vol de correspondance est assuré (pas d'obligation de racheter un autre billet au cas où vous ne pouvez assurez la correspondance). Le numéro de Vietnam Airways en France est le 01 44 55 39 90 (de 9h à 17h) et tant qu'à faire demandez leur aussi, si à l'aller et au retour vous avez le droit de "sortir" de l'aéroport... (car je sais que certaines compagnies, même si vous avez un transit avec plusieurs heures d'attente, n'autorisent pas la sortie de l'aéroport)

Non, je ne crois pas que ce soit l'intérêt et la politique de Vietnam Airlines de vous dire: "puisque vous avez acheté votre billet sur internet, voyez directement avec l'agence!"
Et si vous appeliez directement GO voyages, vous auriez le droit à la petite musique, puis à un "un moment je vous prie"...à un "vous désirez?".....et après l'énoncé de votre problème à un "heuuuuuuu, je vais me renseigner".... Alors qu'en téléphonant directement à Vietnam Airlines, vous aurez en "temps réel" vos précieuses informations.

Une application comme motionX GPS permet de télécharger les cartes offline, elles sont alors stockées dans l'iPhone (source OpenStreetMap).
Le GPS est fonctionnel et il n'y a même pas besoin d'être connecté à un réseau téléphonique.
Par contre, le téléchargement des cartes peut être très long fonction du détail et de la surface que l'on veut. Prévoir jusqu'à plusieurs jours 😮
Mais MotionX GPS permet aussi de charger des tracés , des waypoints , etc avant de partir.

La carte SIM Viettel coûte 65 000 VND. Il faut acheter dans une boutique Viettel, celle qui se trouve près du Lac et du théâtre des marionnettes sur l'eau, par exemple.On vous la découpe à la bonne taille pour insérer dans l'iphone. Il faut demander qu'on vous abonne au 3G avec cette carte, ce qui vous enlève 40 000 VND par mois et il vous reste 25 000 VND pour téléphoner.
Avec cette carte viettel, vous avez la cartographie de tout le pays, de toutes les villes du Vietnam, ainsi vous pouvez accéder à toutes les routes et petites routes. Le 3 G couvre partout au Vietnam.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
