chaud à Death Valley, tempéré à LA et SF. Beau et doux ou au contraire encore des risques de neige dans les parcs en altitude...
J1-J2 -LA, visite de Universal Studio
en J1 vous ne ferez rien hormis les formalités et l'accueil à l'hôtel...
Universal prend normalement toute une journée, il y a fort à parier que vous ne pourrez pas faire tout le parc afin de pouvoir le quitter tôt et faire autre chose à LA: on vous amènera à n'en pas douter faire un tour en bus à Beverly Hills et sur le Walk Of Fame.
J3-LA/Laughlin avec arrêt au Tanger outlet (réel intérêt ???) et Bagdad cafe
à mon avis, journée sans trop d'intérêt, mais je ne suis pas "outlet"... Laughlin étape quelconque.
J4-Laughlin/route 66/Grand canyon/Flagstaff avec arrêt à Seligman
A Grand Canyon vous ne ferez que les points de vue proches de Grand Canyon Village.
A Flagstaff selon l'endroit où tu loges tu risques d'entendre siffler les trains toute la nuit 😏.
J5-Flagstaff/Monument Valley/Page. Artisanat local à Monument : intérêt ??Arrêt au barrage de Glenn Canyon
l'intérêt de Monument Valley, c'est surtout de faire la Scenic Drive. A ne pas manquer! Mais c'est plus spectaculaire dans les lumières de fin de journée.
J6-Page/Lac Powell/Bryce canyon/Antimony.Croisière sur le lac, promenade entre Inspiration Point , Sunrise et Sunset Point : difficulté de la "promenade" ??Nuit au Rockin'R ranch : avis sur ce ranch ??
Antimony? Première fois que j'entends parler 😛...
Pour la rando à Bryce, je doute que vous marchiez! Quand ils parlent de promenade entre les différents points de vue, c'est en bus par la route. Peut être tu auras la chance de faire un bout de descente de Navajo Loop à partir de Sunset Point, je te le souhaite, c'est fabuleux.
J7-Antimony/Vallée de Feu/Las Vegas.Arrêt à White Dome Trail.Arrêt à St George devant le temple Mormon.
J'aime bien "Arrêt à White Dome Trail". Cela veut donc dire que vous vous arrêterez qu parking du trail mais que vous ne ferez pas le sentier 🤪.
Pour Saint George, l'intérêt c'est surtout Snow Canyon State Park. Le temple Mormon ouais bon...

tu as entièrement raison! Mais tu loges à quel hôtel? Si c'est le Circus, tu as une sacrée trotte jusqu'au centre du strip donc il faudra que tu prennes le bus de ville ou un taxi.

On vous amènera à Zabriski Point et faire quelques mètres dans les dunes de Mesquite, c'est tout...

Pour le temps libre, je ne suis pas sûr que tu disposeras de beaucoup de temps... Cela dépend aussi de ce que vous aurez vu sur "le tour panoramique"...
Peut être un tour à Haight Ashbury? Alcatraz?
bon mise à part que c'est un circuit en bus, donc avec de longues étapes de route, je ne comprends pas vraiment ce que tu veux savoir ? 😛

+/- idem 😐 (même s'il peut y avoir des trucs intéressants dans l'artisanat indien, à condition qu'il ne soit pas "Made In China" comme sur certains objets en vente au Visitor Center de Monument Valley)...

aucune, mise à part un peu de dénivelé (çà descend, puis ça remonte) et qu'on est en altitude... de toute façon, si le guide estime que certaines personnes ne peuvent pas faire cette balade, il leur sera conseillé de se balader uniquement sur la rim...
Nuit au Rockin'R ranch : avis sur ce ranch ??
hum 😕... pas exceptionnel... un peu rudimentaire sur les chambres et la nourriture 😄 (enfin faut dire que je n'ai pas une passion pour la viande bouillie, les fayots et le maïs cuit à l'eau)... on a eu (en 2006 !) une animation musicale par la Famille Christiansen : papa et ses 2 garçons au chant et à la guitare (y’a eu du vol de canards à basse altitude... n’est pas Santana qui veut ;-)) et les dames (+ les enfants) à la danse (madison et rock acrobatique qui a calmé tout le monde !). Mais à 22h, tout le monde au lit ! 😄... le lendemain, il y a eu balade à cheval pour ceux qui le souhaitaient...

à la fois, je te conseille de te "libérer" du groupe, ça fait du bien de temps en temps... en même temps, la visite en groupe avec le guide te permet d'aller + vite et d'aller aux endroits intéressants sans faire des tours et des détours (quand on ne connait pas)... mais c'est à toi de voir !! tu peux tout à fait en arrivant de valley of Fire dire que tu veux passer la soirée sans le groupe et faire une balade sur le Strip à ta guise et aller manger à un meilleur buffet que celui prévu par le TO ! 😉 (je te conseille celui du Wynn ou du Cosmopolitan !)... n'hésite pas si tu en as marre au retour à prendre un taxi pour retourner au Circus Circus, ce n'est pas très cher en général...
temps libre : que faire ??
1/2 journée de libre à SFO c'est court alors qu'il y a temps à faire et à voir dans cette ville !!

Tu as mis les pieds sur un forum où les gens sont adeptes du voyage organisé par eux mêmes. Et effectivement quand on compare... C'est le jour et la nuit niveau qualité prix!
Gageons qu'un tel circuit te donnera l'envie de redécouvrir ces lieux par toi même et à ton rythme une prochaine fois. Là tu es tombée sur le bon forum 😛

en général, les circuits en bus ne sont pas terribles parce que basés sur de trop longues journées de route... des étapes bof... des visites réduites...
mais bon, si tu veux y voir un côté positif : tu verras tout de même de très beaux paysages et tu verras aussi comme il est simple de voyager aux USA...
et peut être que la petite "frustration" de ne pas en avoir vu assez (et pas dans les meilleures conditions) te donnera envie de revenir là bas en organisant ton voyage toi même, sans passer par un TO ! 😉 (ce fut exactement notre cas ! et depuis 2007, je ne compte plus les voyages aux USA, mais sans TO ! 😛 le forum est alors une mine d'infos et de gens prêts à t'aider)

Notre tendance naturelle sur ce forum est de "descendre" tous ceux qui font un voyage en circuit organisé.
Pour une fois je serais nuancé et je vais essayer de vs reconforter: Il y a un tas de gens qui font ce genre de circuit et qui reviennent enchantés : les paysages de l'ouest sont magnifiques, le groupe peut etre sympa, et tout le monde n'a pas la forme physique de partir seul pour visiter l'ouest.
A la limite, il vaut mieux un circuit organisé que rien du tout.
La seule observation que je ferais est que les circuits pourraient etre beaucoup mieux les voyagistes avaient plus d'imagination, en evitant LAUGHLIN, BAKERSFIELD et MODESTO..et en prevoyant 4 ou 5 jours de plus.

La seule observation que je ferais est que les circuits pourraient etre beaucoup mieux les voyagistes avaient plus d'imagination, en evitant LAUGHLIN, BAKERSFIELD et MODESTO..et en prevoyant 4 ou 5 jours de plus.
Mais beaucoup plus chers... Ou alors le voyagiste devrait rogner sa marge 😛
les prix sont assez variables selon l'agence (ie le TO local) qui le vend...
mais bien entendu cela reste assez cher en comparaison d'un voyage qu'on pourrait organiser soi même (à l'exception d'une personne voyageant seule où là la marge peut être moins importante)...
grosso modo, je dirais que le circuit ci dessus devrait être proposé dans les 1900€/pers sur la base de 2 personnes en chambre double...
(et on est d'accord qu'à 2 sans agence, pour 3800€, tu te fais très à l'aise 3 semaines dans l'Ouest !)

Je suis impressioné par les tarifs pratiqués par les TO. Ils font une belle marge, sans compter la méconnaissance des procédures.
Exemple: Un collègue qui est parti au Canada avec une incursion aux USA par car. Le TO leur a demandé de remplir ESTA 😕🤪
(et on est d'accord qu'à 2 sans agence, pour 3800€, tu te fais très à l'aise 3 semaines dans l'Ouest !)

Ce n'est pas la première fois que j'utilise Voyage forum et que j'exploite les connaissances de tous. Il y a 2 ans nous sommes parties à 3 femmes pour un voyage au Canada, j'étais le chauffeur et nous avons passé 15 jours inoubliables, coachées auparavant par +sieurs membres de ce forum (encore merci).Le circuit effectué partait de Montréal à Tadoussac, remontait à St Félicien puis Niagara et retour à Montréal. Le tout en chambres d'hôtes avec de très belles rencontres. Cette fois-ci, faute de combattant et en ayant l'opportunité, ce sera ce voyage (2 000 euros car chambre seule). Depuis 10 ans, mes voyages annuels et lointains, sont organisés par moi-même, sans TO, et je n'ai jamais été déçue. Merci tout de même pour le petit encouragement et c'est sûr, au besoin je reviendrai par mes propres moyens. Merci à tous

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
