J'avoue, je n'en suis qu'au tout début de la préparation de mon voyage, ça n'est même pas encore décidé (peut-être au printemps 2004?), mais je SAIS que je vais y aller un jour! 😉 Alors de toute façon, si vous avez des conseils, ça me servira, je les note et rien ne sera perdu! A vos bonnes volontés Msieur Dame!
Alors voila, comme il existe assez peu de guides de voyage sur ces ïles (mis à part le Petit Futé que j'ai déjà acheté), je voudrais savoir :
quelles îles avez-vous visité? combien de temps? avez-vous visité Corvo et Flores, les îles les plus éloignées?
quels moyens de transport inter-îles avez-vous pris : avion? bateau? vous souvenez-vous du budget correspondant?
avez-vous testé le camping : sauvage, pas sauvage, j'ai lu qu'il y avait assez peu de terrains aménagés et que sur plusieurs îles c'était sauvage ou bien négocier un bout de terrain chez l'habitant.
avez-vous logé chez l'habitant, à l'hotel ? Les prix vous ont ils paru très "touristiques" ou non?
avez-vous été en voiture, en bus, en stop, ou bien à pied?
et enfin : quelles îles, villes, endroits, randos, ont été vos coups de coeur ?
ah oui une petite dernière question pratique : je comptais acheter en ligne le guide de voyage "Bradt" (en anglais) car je n'ai rien trouvé d'autre d'intéressant sur les Açores (notamment pour les itinéraires de rando). Avez-vous un avis sur les guides existants? (celui-là ou un autre que vous me conseilleriez?)

Je pars le 4/08 pour 14 jours (Sao miguel et terceira).
J'ai prévu ca qu'au mois de mai et voila c'est fait...
Donc je te raconte ca a mon retour...
en attendant tu peux ecrire aux OT de chaque ile (ils sont très généreux en doc..).
coté transport j'ai loué une bagnole, car le stop ou le transport en commun ne sont pas aussi développé qu'on le voudrait...
coté logement (c'est le plus gros du budget après le billet d'avion) compte entre 40 et 110 euros (vu que tu pars hors saison compte entre 30 et 45 euros pour la chambre chez l'habitant et si c'est un manoir c'est 85).
J'ai opté pour l'avion entre les 2 iles car me suis mal demerdé avec les dates (pas de bateau tous les jours attention et encore moins hors saison !!).
Le billet est pas donné (135 euros AR).
J'ai tout loué sur internet, pour la bagnole m'a couté 260 euros pour 10 jours sur Sao Miguel (attention je te donne toujours les tarifs haute saison !!).
J'avais acheté le ptit futé, car pas ou peu de guide spécifique sur les acores, 2 ou 3 trucs mais il est assez peu précis...
J'ai vraiment tout pioché sur les docs envoyées par les OT dont plusieurs de randos (j'y vais pour ça principalement)...

Voila c'est fait...je suis rentré... Alors par quoi commencer...
Tout d'abord San Miguel... 100 bornes de route au plus long pour 30 au plus large... Transports en commun aléatoire mais existant, par contre cela limite les découvertes...
La bagnole me semble incontournable, vu tout ce qui doit etre vu...
Logement alterné en chambre d'hotes, hotel et location de maison... Compte 45 euros par jour pour une maison 2 chambres cuisine (avec four a pain !!) salon et tout équipé... (l'exemple que je te donne correspond a ce que j'ai payé pour une baraque sympa coté nord...).
Je te déconseille fortement le camping en raison d'une météo déja très variable en été et pas plus clémente au printemps (les nuages sont toujours entrain de squatter les sommets et descendent parfois arroser les plaines et donc les tentes..
Coté randos peu d'infos sur place. Peu de randos signalées (hélas) par contre une très prometteuse du coté des lombadas (intérieur de l'ile coté ribeira grande) dont je n'ai hélas fait que le début... Si la météo te le permet (et c'est le gros problème là bas pour randonner).
une autre rando l'ascension du pico da vera (sommet de l'ile) qui doit te permettre de visionner toute l'ile (si il est dégagé ce qui n'était pas mon cas) mais il faut une autorisation des services forestiers (que j'ai jamais trouvé mais bon vu le temps pourri il y avait peu de chance d'etre controlé de plus la responsable touristique de Nordeste m'a juré que l'on pouvait s'en passer ce que j'ai fait).
Plutot faire les visites de sites en fin de journée quand les nuages daignent bien se casser. J'ai eu un peu de mal a voir le Lagoa do Fogo et le trop fameux Sete cidades mais j'y suis parvenu.
Un lac qui mérite la descente (dans une propriété privée !!) c'est la lagoa do congro... Un peu chiant a trouver et un passage épique a coté de chiens hargneux mais tres bien attachés).
A voir aussi Furnas et son jardin qui a surtout le mérite de posseder un grand bassin d'eau marron (dont mon maillot ne s'est pas remis) au bienfait reconnue et qui est surtout à 38°... Mais surtout allez voir les caldeiras (sources d'eau chaude).
Coté nourriture comptez 10 euros tout compris et aimez les patates qui sont servis sur tous les plats... Il faut gouter aux poissons inconnus et admirablement grillés... On a souvent le choix entre frit et grillé... Et c'est énorme les Acoriens ont des notions d'assiettes monstrueuses...
Les habitants sont vraiments super gentils et très serviable (j'ai à peine le souvenir d'une grosse conne dans un resto mais c'est extrèmement rare..).
L'anglais est compris de pas mal de gens, par contre même les portugais ont du mal à les comprendre, et d'une ile a une autre cela semble aussi le cas...
Quoi qu'il en soit le logis reste le plus gros budget... Compte 30 euros par jour pour une bagnole de base (je l'ai prise chez ilha verde), et être plutot bon conducteur (beaucoup de pistes a emprunter si on veut plonger au coeur de l'ile mais aussi des pentes de 27% pour acceder a des phares ou autres piscines naturelles).
J'ai préferé le nord au sud surtout coté Nordeste (tres fleuri et avec les plus beaux miradouros aménagés).
Un village a la con m'a beaucoup plu sans que je sache pourquoi mais il y a une jolie balade a travers une végétation hallucinante a faial da terra (entre povoacao et nordeste) qui aboutit sur une cascade classique. Mais ce patelin sans charme m'a plu...
A voir Ribeira grande et son jardin dans le lit de la riviere, et voir le point de vue sur le parvis de l'eglise...
Povoacoa et son zoo ridicule (avec un lapin et des canaris) m'ont laissé indifferent...
Ils ont tous des picks up car preque tous agriculteurs etquand on voit l'états de certaines pistes on comprend, et des vaches a gogo (presque une par habitant)
ponta Delgada que je n'ai visité qu'a mon retour de Terceira ne casse pas des briques...
2eme ile apres 8 jours et 900 kms sur san miguel : Terceira ... 120 euros AR avec la SATA (monopole acorien).. Rien a voir avec sa grande soeur... Une météo plus clémente, des paysages parfois alpins et d'autres unique comme ses centaines de kms de murets séparant chaque près...
Une perle architecturale : Angra do Heroismo (classé au patrimoine mondial de l'unesco et on comprend). Il faut bien 3h00 pour découvrir tout ce que cache cette magnifique ville...
l'ile est 2 fois plus petite que san Miguel, les routes y sont presque en meilleure état (ainsi que les pistes), de beaux fond marins (masque et tuba suffisent pour observer de beaux poiscailles).
a voir le lagoa dos patas (des canards) les misterios da negro (tous les lacs sont très largement moins grands que sur san miguel ) le point culminant de l'ile offrant un beau point de vue sur l'ile de sao jorge en face.
Coté rando une belle promenade jusqu'au lac negra(2h00 AR) et un magnifique point de vue laissant meme voir l'ile de graciosa quand c'est bien dégagé.... Mais se mefier de la météo et de ces nuages imprévisibles qui descendent a une vitesse incroyable...

J'ai escalé une vingtaine de fois aux Açores (Fayal, Sao Miguel et Terceira) et j'ai quelques tuyaux à te filer (randos, photos, ambiance...) si tu envisages tjs ce périple. C'est une destination que j'adore, en dehors des circuits touristiques, population sympathique, paysages magnifiques, randos de rêve...
😠etes-vous allée aux acores, je prépare pour 2007 mais cela ne semble pas très simple de se déplacer entre les iles, on m'avait parlé d'un billet d'avion qui permettait d'aller une ile à l'autre, est-ce vrai merçi

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...
