Je me suis décidé il y a très peu de temps pour partir durant 3 semaines en Indonésie.
Nous serons 2 amis trentenaires assez sportifs. On recherche donc un itinéraire assez sportif, pas de farniente en gros.
Après avoir parcouru de nombreux forums et ce site, voici le planning que j'ai élaboré.
N’hésitez pas à le commenter, l'enrichir, supprimer des choses inutiles etc.
Je vais évidemment continuer à l'améliorer mais vu que le départ est assez proche, toute aide est la bienvenue.
J'ai dû mettre quelques parties de côté comme Nusa Penida et Lumboggan (hésitation avec Gili meno ou Menjagan) qui m'avaient l'air pas mal du tout ou les plages du sud de Lombok.
Autre information, je n'ai pas encore réservé le vol retour à Singapour du 19/05 (j'ai pris un aller retour Toulouse Singapour) donc si vraiment nécessaire, je peux gagner un jour.

ton circuit se tient ....bons choix..
une remarque cependant , vers la fin de ton circuit tu devrais aller d'abord de amed à gili meno (fast boat rapide et direct) puis après qqs jours à gili meno prendre le bateau (courte traversée) vers bangsal (au N de lombok).cela te permettrait (même si t'es sportif!!!) de te reposer un peu avant le rinjani qui exige des vrais sportifs reposés ( très difficile et très froid en haut...)
au lieu de loger à senaru cherche cet hébergement (rinjani mountain garden) situé non loin à teres genit. en plus de sa situation exceptionnelle, de ses repas de qualité, le patron( un gros beauf, mais on ne te demande pas d'en faire un pote!!!!) te trouvera au débotté une place dans un groupe pour la montée au rinjani (tu pourras laisser tes bagages dans une pièce fermée de cet hébergement..) c'est bien rôdé, et je pense moins cher.....ne logent ici quasiment que des personnes qui vont "faire" le rinjani...
tu devrais aussi rajouter une nuit à amed où le snorkeling sera facile depuis la plage...

Oui j'essaie de réfléchir un peu avant de poster quand même. :)
j'ai juste une hésitation par rapport aux Gilis. J'ai un peu peur de m'ennuyer là bas et c'est pour çà que Nusa Penida me fait de l'oeil car l’île a l'air plus inintéressante et diversifiée niveau points de vue (falaises à Nusa contre plage de sable blancs pour Gilis) et on peut y faire du snorkeling aussi.
Pour Amed, je me dis que j'ai déjà 1 jour à l’île de Menjagan donc je ne sais pas si cela vaut le coup de bloquer un jour de plus ici sachant que j'en referai aux Gilis (ou Nusa Penida :) )

garde gili meno (plus touristique certes) mais plus facile (hébergements, transports , prix) que nusa penida.....le snorkeling à meno te permettra de voir des tortues....
maintenant si tu n'as encore rien réservé( avion...) et que tu veux un voyage un peu moins "farniente" oriente toi vers sumatra (vol de france vers kuala lumpur puis air asia vers medan.... ce serait parfait pour 3 semaines et un peu plus "inoubliable"...mais il faut alors que t'acceptes du plus "roots"( notamment pour les hébergements) qu'à bali....

le voyage que tu programmes c'est un peu " ce que tout l'monde fait"...un voyage à sumatra se mérite un peu plus...mais si tu as déjà ton vol de réservé reste sur ton idée ce sera bien aussi.....

oui c'est sûr. Mais bon des fois, il y a quand même des choses touristiques qui valent la peine (exemple roadtrip cote ouest usa où tu as des incontournables).
Pour vous ça veux dire quoi' pas de farniente '? Car en lisant votre circuits pour moi c'est: assez touristique ! Comme Jean-Louis indiqué : tout le monde le fait !
Moi aussi je vous donbevl' avis de aller plutôt à Sumatra si vous voulez vraiment :'pas de farniente'.
Pour moi, farniente, ça veut dire posé sur une serviette à ne rien faire.
Je suis conscient que Ubud, Munduk etc sont touristiques.
J'ai déjà pris les billets Singapour - Yogakarta de toute façon. Je pense me concentrer pour cette fois (car je garde en tête Sumatra pour une prochaine fois) sur Java, Bali et Lombok. (je resiste de toutes mes forces pour la croisière Lombok Flores ...)
Concernant Java, je pense que c'est suffisant. Concernant Bali et Lombok, je suis encore indécis. J'ai vraiment envie de voir ces paysages de rizières. Mais je ne sais pas si je dois enlever certains trucs et en rajouter autre part.
Je dirais que mes immanquables seront Ubud et le volcan Rinjani. Après je ne sais pas si je conserve le reste (Menjagan, Munduk, Amed, Gilis) ou si je prévois autre chose. 3 jours sur les Gilis, je pense que c'est trop pour moi déjà. Je n'aime pas rester à rien faire. C'est pour çà que Nusa Penida m'interresse ou le sud de Lombok.
1- Je prévois de faire le snorkeling à Menjagan et j'ai vu que les excursions se finissaient à 14h. Du coup, nous partirons ensuite pour Munduk pour avoir la journée du lendemain consacrée à Munduk avec les cascades le matin et les rizières l'après midi. Le lendemain, je ne change pas le programme avec les rizières de Jatiluwih et les temples. Nous dormirons donc 3 nuits sur Munduk.
Ma question est sur la journée suivante. Au départ de Munduk, Je prévois d'aller faire les cascades de Sekumpul et celle de Banyumala (et en options suivant le temps Git Git).
La question que je me pose est : comment organiser cette journée?
Comment allons nous faire avec nos sacs (duffle bag 90l)? Faut il les laisser à Munduk pour revenir les chercher après ou peut on les prendre avec nous et les laisser quelque part?
Car ensuite, nous ne sommes pas censé dormir à Munduk mais à Ubud.
2- Pensez vous qu'il est mieux de rejoindre Ubud après les cascades de Sekumpul ou il serait plus judicieux d'aller à Amed pour prendre le bateau pour Lombok le lendemain et faire le trek du Rinjani ensuite. Nous reviendrons ensuite sur Bali via Amed toujours pour aller à Ubud quelques jours et ensuite aller à Sanur pour prendre bateau pour Nusa Penida et finir le voyage.
Je ne sais pas si c'est très clair, n’hésitez pas à me le dire. Je peux faire du google maps.

Si vous aller avec une voiture et chauffeur ce sera très facile pour le bagage.laisser dans la voiture! Pour visiter les cascades ? Quelle transport ? Pour visiter les rizières ? Quelle transport.
Pour jatiluwih, nous louerons un scooter je pense. Par contre, nous n'avons pas de permis international et c'est trop tard je crois ...
Ok, je vais essayer de mettre Lombok en premier. Et on prendra donc un chauffeur pour la journée munduk sekumpul amed.
Je vais essayer de retracer l'itinéraire du coup avec ces modifications.

2x200.000rp - (23€), mais.... ça c'est pour moi, une indonésienne, pour un tourist blanc?!!! Et ils gardent ton permis français ou passeport aussi longtemps ils veulent!!
Bon du coup, mieux vaut abandonner cette idée ...

C'était notamment pour Jatiluwih, se balader dans les rizières et pour Ubud aussi.
Il faut que je vois les distances à Ubud voir si c'est faisable en vélo. Tu en penses quoi ?
Avec la moto c'était pour moi 1h30 vers Ubud. C'est possible en vélo si vous êtes des sportives. Demande sur chaque carfour quelle direction de prendre car il n'y a pas beaucoup de panneaux qui indique quelle direction d'aller. Sinon il y a toujours les petits bus que vous pouvez prendre. Sympa aussi.
En plus par rapport l'assurance c'est chaud aussi car souvent c'est le touriste qui a tort, même si c'est pas vrai. Avec une voiture et chauffeur tu peux t'arrêter n'importe où et c'est pratique quand même. Oui en moto j'adore et dans la campagne agréable, mais en ville même à Ubud j'utilise une masque.
C'est surtout pour faire des chemins où la voiture n'est pas possible que le scooter m'intéressait, comme à Jatiluwih par exemple.
Combien coûte la journée avec chauffeur à peu près pour que j'ai un ordre d'idée ?
On n'a toujours pas reservé le vol retour Denpasar - Singapour donc je me laisse la possibilité de faire des modifications.
Je ne sais pas si le 11/05, il est possible de retourner à Amed après le trek ou si il faut le faire le jour d'après. Si vous avez des remarques, n’hésitez pas.

2 jours d'attente à l'aeroport puis finalement on a pris le 4*4 pendant 10h et on a rajouté 3 jours de trek. :)

Je suis juste déçu de ne pas pouvoir louer de scooter par contre, car çà permet de se balader plus facilement, de s’arrêter vraiment quand on veut et çà revient moins cher aussi.
oui, c'est sur, la moto est mon préféré aussi. Tu peut prendre le risque, car ce n'est pas sur qu'ils vont t'arrêté. Moi je n'ai pas eu la chance!! Si non tu peut toujours le faire à Ubud même et alentour. ils vont t'arrêté souvent sur les route plus frequenté. Mais bon je ne peux pas garantir tout ça!!! Essaye sinon si tu peut le faire encore le permis international, ici le delai est 15 jours!!

Peut être qu'il ya plus de possibilités de partir de Padang Bay. Et pour le retour pareil.
J'ai du mal à trouver des infos sur les heures de départ des bateaux et des possibilités qui s'offrent à moi.

Si je peux me permettre une petite incursion, je suis à Ubud en ce moment et les flics sont partout en ville pour arreter les touristes à scooter. Alors, si vous avez le temps pour le permis, faites le. ☺
Je suis à a Amed en ce moment, ilme semble qu'il est plus facile e partir de Pagangbai, mais tu pourras te renseigner sur place. Ce n'est vraiment pas loin.
Je viens de demander à mon homestay. Départ d'Amed le matin vers 9h pour Lombok, pick up à ton hôtel.
Départs de Padangbai tous les jours aussi.
Demain je vais à Kusamba, voir les saulniers et prendre le bateau pour Nusa Penida. Si ca t'intéresse, je t'en parlerai ☺️
Oui je veux bien, merci. Mon souci, c'est que j'aimerais avoir les heures de départ de Amed et Padang Bay vers Lombok mais aussi les retours. En fait, je me pose cette question car on m'a dit que de Lombok, il ne m était pas possible de retourner sur Amed le jour de la fin du trek du rinjani, mais que c'était possible de Padang Bay. Du coup, j'essaie d'optimiser cette partie pour ne pas perdre de temps et donc voir si je faiss la région d Amed Sidemen avant le rinjani ou pas.

Niveau météo c'est parfait, beau et chaud. Pour les retour de Lombok, je ne sais pas trop. Je vais essayer d'avoir des infos ce soir ou demain, mais rien ne garantit que ce sera fixé dans le beton, les traversees de fin de journée sont sujettes à changement selon la météo il parait.
J'ai prévu une dizaine de jours sur Nusa penida et Lembongan. Farniente de fin de voyage avant 3 jours à Singapour et retour à la maison 😢

Concernant les rizieres, tu risques de trouver assez vite qu'elles se ressemblent toutes, celles de Tirta Gangga sont tres jolies aussi (cherche sur google, si tu manques de temps ça peut être une option agreable), et pour compléter ta balade passe par Ujung.
Une adresse sympa à Ubud si tu veux: Agung cottage sur jalan Goutama. C'est central, pas cher, balé traditionnel . La crete, de Capuhan est sympa, promenade facile.
Tu fais ton circuit Bromo/Ijen en individuel ou organisé?
Pour Singapour, j'ai réservé au Superb hostel, j'y serai du 28 avril au 1er mai, réservé longtemps en avance car le 1er mai est férié en Asie aussi, ce que je ne savais pas quand j'ai booking mon vol 😮
Pour te donner une idée, je l'ai fait aussi à partir de Banyuwangi. Tu peux l'avoir entre 250 et 350 milles ird, eau, lampe et masque inclus, départ vers 2:30 du matin.
Le site ouvre à 4h, so tu montes vite, tu verras les flammes bleues avant le lever du soleil. Le cratère est encore interdit pour 3 mois, pour les touristes.
S'il te plaît, Achete des cigarettes, de l'eau et des biscuits pour les mineurs. C'est tout ce qu'ils consomment pendant qu'ils travaillent.
Ces hommes sont incroyables. Ils connaissent très bien les dangers de ce travail et savent que leur espérance de vie est réduite et arrivent malgré tout à sourire quand on parle avec eux. J'ai fait beaucoup de belles rencontres pendant mon voyage, celle avec ces hommes est la plus marquante.
Ok c'est noté. Oui j'ai déjà vu quelques reportages sur ces porteurs. C'est fou.
Je vais surement passer par ijenminertour qui travaille avec eux.
Je ne savais pas pour le cratère interdit. Cela vaut quand même le coup j'imagine.

Je suis toujours bloqué sur Amed afin de prendre la meilleure solution.
Vu que les jours sont comptés, j'essaie de ne pas perdre de temps.
Pour Nusa Penida aussi, j'hesite entre 2 et 3 jours. Car si on reste 3 jours, nous n'aurons que 2 jours à Singapour donc je ne sais pas ...
Mais bon, on ne va pas se plaindre :)

J'ai parcouru avec beaucoup d'intérêt vos différentes interventions et vos conseils. Je trouve le circuit de Jérémy intéressant mis à part les trekking.
Je prépare mon séjour à l'Est de Java, Bali et Lombok pour l'été prochain (3 semaines de mi juillet à mi août).
Je préfère les séjours en autonomie. J'ai tout de même demandé des devis à des agences en France et à des agences locales en Indonésie. Je trouve leurs tarifs assez élevés.
J'ai pensé au circuit suivant: Yogyakarta et environs (2/3 jours), Volcans Bromo/Kawha Ijen et ferry (3 jours), Lovina Beach ou Munduk (2 jours), Amed (2 jours), Gili Air (2 jours), Lombok (3 jours), Ubud (3 jours) et Sanur (1 jour).
Je m'interroge sur la facilité de voyager en autonomie. D'après le fameux guide papier, il n'est pas aisé de trouver des bémo ou autre moyens de transfert sans passer par un chauffeur.
Pouvez vous me dire si ces transferts sont si compliqués que cela ? Je précise que je parle anglais.
De plus, tous les voyagistes me disent que pour juillet août il faut que je me presse.

non, les transferts entres les différentes étapes (hébergements) ne sont pas compliqués du tout.....tu demanderas en anglais à ton hébergeur de te trouver soit un simple chauffeur (qui lui ne parlera que 3 mots d'anglais mais qui te déposera devant la porte de ton nouvel hébergement...c'est bien pratique.)
si tu veux un vrai guide à la journée cela te reviendra à 50€ s'il parle anglais et 60€/ journée complète s'il est francophone....
pour ton trajet, remplace lovina par pemuteran (pour le snorkeling sur l'ile de menjangan)..., et ne zappe pas munduk . de amed tu iras directement sur gili air.....de gili air tu arriveras très vite au N de lombok (bangsal)...de là je te conseille de descendre directement vers kuta lombok où tu trouveras des plages paradisiaques (celles de bali ne le sont pas...) reviens vers bali en avion depuis l'aéroport de praya.(pas cher et rapide)..
place bien sanur à la fin pour bien sécuriser ton grand vol de retour.....

J'ai aussi cette appréhension pour les transports. J'aurais souhaité conduire un scooter dans les villes où on restera plus d'un jour mais pas de permis international.
Ensuite, j'espère que c'est sécurisé. Par exemple, je prévois de faire Munduk - Amed donc il me faut un chauffeur sauf que je souhaite m'arrêter à Sekumpul pour les cascades. Du coup, j'aurai mes valises avec moi. Donc soit je prends un chauffeur à la journée et je laisse mon sac dans la voiture le temps de la visite (en espérant qu'il ne parte pas avec), soit je prends un chauffeur pour Munduk - Sekumpul, je laisse mes affaires quelque part genre un hotel à Sekumpul et ensuite je reprends un autre chauffeur pour Sekumpul - Amed.

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

We’re planning a 15-day trip to Indonesia and would love your thoughts on our itinerary.
We love discovering local culture, food (!!), seeing beautiful landscapes, and keeping an active pace. We’re not the type to lounge on the beach for 5 hours or spend ages by the pool when we’re halfway across the world. Also, we try to avoid places "ruined" by mass tourism (like Holbox in Mexico, which we loved 10 years ago but not at all on our last visit, or Phi Phi in Thailand, completely destroyed by mass tourism).
Special note: we love traveling by train :)
