Bonjour à tous. Étant en préparation pour mon prochain séjour d'un mois en janvier prochain, 3 destinations m'attirent, mais j'hésite dans mon choix. Pour ceux qui ont fait les 3 destinations, quel sont les avantages et différences? Ce que je recherche c'est 1-le cout sur place (pension oblige),2- la sécurité 3- la gentillesse des gens et la richesse culturelle.
Je voyage sac à dos, en louant scooter ou transport en commun, et ne recherche pas le party mais bien la tranquilité et le quotidien des gens, de belles plages et paysages grandioses.
Voici ou j'en suis dans mes réflections: Indonésie et Phillipines= trop grand pour un mois (donc encore plus indécis sur l'itinéraire) Le Sri Lanka me rebute pour une seule raison , l'hygiène (mes craintes sont-elles fondées?). Par contre il semble facile de s'y déplacer et d'en faire le tour en un mois. Bref, après avoir consulter différents forum et m'etre procurer les guides de chaque destination mentionnée, le ressenti de personne y ayant séjourné ou qui y vivent m'éclairerais peut-etre. Merci de partager vos expériences.

Nous avons pour projet de partir 3 mois en avril, mai et juin avec nos deux enfants qui auront 6 ans et 3 ans.
C'est encore un "projet" et nous bloquons vraiment sur l'itinéraire (qui me parait essentiel pour dessiner ce projet).
Pensez-vous que ce soit simple de faire Philippines > Malaisie > Indonésie ? (ordre le plus logique par rapport aux saisons)
Pensez-vous qu'une escale en nouvelle Calédonie ou Polynésie française au cours du voyage puisse être à envisager ?
Est-ce que l'ordre des pays vous parait le plus simple?

Vol Kuala puis Banda Aceh. Un hotel pas trop excentré dans cette ville a me conseillé ?
Pour démarrer tranquille direction Pulau Weh et la grande question Gapang ou Iboih ? Un hébergement qui sort du lot ? Peu être un saut a LhokNga et Lampuuk sans doute plus tranquille.
Puis looong trajet pour Ketambe. Ensuite mes doutes et interrogations commencent :
Quid de Simeulue ?
NIAS est elle simplement un repaire de surfCamp en dollars australiens ? Y a t'il des coins petit budget et sympathiques ?
Les BANYAK ? Difficle d'avoir des infos pratique sur quel coin sont agréables, de bon gout et accessibles ? Le LP parle de Pulau Tailana et Pulau Sikandang plus une autre ile, tuangku avec lodge et Surfcamp et bastas. Avez vous des infos récentes ? Tout le monde a l'air de regretter de pas y avoir été. C'est sur que l'accés est un peu compliqué quand on a pas trop de temps. Ensuite saute montagne pour le lac Toba. mais c'est peu être plus judicieux de faire cette étape avant et de rejoindre Singkil après. Avez vous des adresses inoubliables, incontournables, inavouables sur les pourtours de ce fameux Lac Toba ? (dont j'entends parlé depuis si longtemps). Ensuite cap au sud. Et les classiques mais sans doute formidable vallée d'Harau, Bukittinggi et Danau Maninjau. la encore si vous avez des infos. Grosse interrogation sur les iles Mentawai (double ??). Je peux pas trop faire de long treck avec un genou qui couine rapidement cela vaut t'il le deplacement pour aller suer dans la boue ou est ce vraiment intéressant ? Pour finir un peu de plage autour de Padang et retour. Je suis donc preneur d'adresses, d'avis, de remarques et d'informations sur Sumatra que je ne connais pas et j'en trépigne d'avance. (mon 5e voyage en indonesie, le premier il y a .... bien longtemps).
Postcriptum révérencieux : Je ne peux pas poster un message sur l'Indonésie sans m'incliner chapeau bas devant le triptyque qui nous font réver, nous donne le pouls du pays, de leur avis et remarques, parfois sans appels, mais à lire avec une délectation toujours nouvelle, (calme, tu part dans les aigus mon gars, bouge tranquille) donc hommage a l'archimandrite Mohamma2 aux conseil sur et avisé dont on se demande quel ilot n'a t'il pas exploré, ; a l'indispensable ange Gabriel Lolo des iles, moine copiste de l'Indonésie, valeureux Sasak, toujours prompt a généreusement partager des infos et dont l'image perché sur son bateau vous rassure tout de suite (c'est la clé de quoi autour du cou, ça fait 25 ans que je me le demande ???) et pour finir je ne saurai oublier la sombre figure tutélaire, magnanime, implacable, intrépide au possible, Mr Naps bien sur, le roi des petits moustachu, nabab des 13466 iles. Donc chapeau bas messieurs. Ca doit être un avant gout de la chaleur qui tape sur ma calbasse. Didier

We're planning our trip to Indonesia and want to take the boat to get from Bali (Padangbai) to Lombok (Senggigi).
We found a ticket via the 12go.asia website with EKAJAYA Fast Company.
From what I understand, the baggage weight limit is 20 kg per person for the boat. However, we’ll have 2 checked suitcases (from our flight) that should weigh around 30 kg since that’s the max allowed due to our diving gear, etc.
Do they actually weigh the luggage?
What happens if our bags exceed the weight limit? Extra charge?
Have any of you dealt with this situation before?

- Maumere / Moni : 1 nuit au Bintang lodge cafe : Arrêt indispensable à Koka beach pour déjeuner
- Moni / Bajawa : 1 nuit au Manulalu (superbe) ; Bien sur le Kelimutu
- Manulalu / Belaraghi : nuit chez l'habitant ; 100% authentique et Zéro touriste
- Belaraghi / Ruteng : nuit au SunRice Homestay ..... Exceptionnel !!!
- Ruteng / Labuan Bajo : 3 nuits au Sylvia Beach Villa (Une très bonne surprise)
Une ile fabuleuse, à découvrir d'urgence ! Une population d'une extrème gentillesse. Des fleurs partout, des paysages magnifiques et des villages superbes.
Seule déception : la visite de l'ile de Rinca pour voir les fameux varans... Bof bof bof !!!
Nous avons fait la traversée de Florès avec guide et chauffeur . Notre guide Thomas Zumat (+62 821 4773 5075) (komodotrails@gmail.com) a été formidable et je le recommande vivement. J'avais trouvé ses coordonnées sur VoyageForum et je remercie ceux qui me l'ont fait connaitre. Thomas parle bien anglais (qqs mots de français). Il a un caractère doux et sérieux. Toujours de bonne humeur il adore blaguer et sourire et sait se rendre discret quand il le faut. Il connait parfaitement son sujet et adore partager son savoir. Thomas était accompagné de Linus, chauffeur expérimenté et prudent, ce qui est très rassurant quand on aborde les petites routes de montagne... Linus parle également un anglais correct, ce qui permet d'avoir aussi un contact sympathique avec lui. Ces deux là ont bien sur énormément contribué à la réussite de notre voyage. A Labuan Bajo, Nicolas nous a également déniché un très bon bateau pour notre excursion dans l'archipel, à un prix très inférieur à tout ce que nous avions vu sur place.
A propos du SunRice Homestay à Ruteng : La guesthouse en soi n'a rien d'exceptionnelle. Elle est cependant d'une propreté irréprochable. Elle se compose de 4 ou 5 chambres ,2 wc et 2 douches. Les repas et Pdj se prennent sur la terrasse. Ce qui est vraiment exceptionnel ici, c'est le Maitre des lieux ; Jeff le boss qui vous accueille comme si vous étiez un cousin éloigné qui vient lui rendre visite. On se sent très vite " à la maison" et Jeff sait mettre à l'aise ses invités et créer rapidement un climat chaleureux . La nourriture est excellente. Le petit déjeuner est compris dans le prix de la chambre et le diner est "offert" (Vous donnez ce que vous voulez) . Jeff propose à ses invités de l'accompagner à 5h du mat pour une randonnée de 2 heures dans de magnifiques rizières afin d'assister au lever su soleil. Cette option facturée 40 000 Idr (2,50 €) est à ne rater sous aucun pretexte !!! La gentillesse de Jeff restera un de nos plus beaux souvenirs de notre voyage.

But we might not have the time (given the lack of infrastructure and long distances—we don’t have 15 days just for a trek) or the physical stamina to get there. Still, we’d love to get off the beaten path and avoid pricey, touristy excursions. From our research, we’ve come across 3-day, 2-night trips on longboats or 4x4s (e.g., orangutans in Tanjung Puting) for 400 to 500 €. But that’s way out of our budget, and we think it’s too expensive. We get that as tourists with higher incomes than locals, we should pay more—but there’s a limit, especially compared to the cost of living in Indonesia. We want to avoid tour operators and crowds of tourists. Our goal is to see what’s left of Borneo’s preserved and wild tropical forest and observe animals in their natural habitat. If we don’t see any during a trek, oh well—we’ll take our chances.

Is it possible to book tickets directly on Indonesian airline websites (I get the feeling that when connecting from France, access is blocked...)
Also, are there direct flights from Maumere or Ende back to Jakarta for the return trip, or do I have to go back through Labuan Bajo?

Sumatra at a leisurely pace, from mid-April to the end of May—pure bliss!
Outbound/inbound flight to Kuala Lumpur to reach Medan, then our stops: Medan - Berastaggi - Toba / Ambarita - Ketambe - Pulau Nias / Teluk Dalam - Bukittinggi - Harau Valley - Padang / Rimba.
A journey shaped by the ethnic groups: the Bataks around Berastaggi and Toba, the Ono Niha on Nias Island, and the Minangkabaus starting from Bukittinggi. Christians in the north and Muslims in a matrilineal society at the end of the trip. Rare animals in their natural habitat, orangutans in the canopy and hawksbill turtles within snorkeling distance.
Though Sumatra isn’t a hotspot for Western tourists, it’s incredibly easy to explore Indonesia’s largest island.
Since there were four of us and the journeys are very long (avg. 30 km/h), we opted for taxis between regions and rented scooters on-site; 3 days trekking in the primary forest of Gunung Leuser and guesthouses for accommodation the rest of the time, meals at local warungs.
As I struggled to find info on Nias Island before our trip (thanks to Filemich for reassuring me about this stop), I’ll focus on this destination!
We took an overnight ferry (https://www.wjl-line.com) from Sibolga to Teluk Dalam, in a 4-person cabin, and stayed at Taman Baloho Indah guesthouse, a bit outside the town and by the Indian Ocean—I highly recommend it. You can reach Erwin, the owner (a name from Dutch colonization), via WhatsApp at +62 812 6074 2874. He rents scooters and can also take you fishing if you ask, then you get to enjoy the fish cooked by his wife.

She lives in Bawomataluo, the most famous of them. She was our gateway to her world, its rituals, and customs. We spent a week on the island—absolute heaven!

Je suis un féru d'Indonésie depuis 2012 je souhaite organiser un trip de 3 semaines moyennement rythmé en transports avec mon meilleur pote.
J'ai déjà visité West Java (Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Kawah Putih et campagnes environnantes ) - Central Java (Yogja, Temples Hindous), Bali et ses Nusa, Lombok et ses Gili, Komodo, West Timur, Sumatra (Padang, Medan, Banda Aceh, Pulau Weh) et les Togean (Sulawesi). Il faudrait donc exclure ces endroits.
Je suis preneur de tout itinéraire sympa (en dehors de ce que j'ai déjà fait) voici notre style de voyage :
Bon rythme mais pas trop effrené non plus, l'avion est toujours privilégié. Pour le confort moyen +, faut que ce soit propre c'est tout. Diving Snorkeling, 1 Jungle Trek , lieux culturels (s'ils existent), 1 ou 2 villes sympa max, 1 volcan à faire
Voici ma proposition de parcours je reste à votre écoute pour toute remarques :
Semaine 1 :
Arrivée Manado ( 2 jours de repos et visite ville) après c'est le flou conseillez-vous Tangkoko pour un beau trek en jungle et voir les primates ? Le trajet pour rejoindre la gare de bus est il rapide (je crois qu'il faut moins d'une demi heure) ? Et les billets sont ils vendus sur place ?

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

We love discovering local culture, food (!!), seeing beautiful landscapes, and keeping an active pace. We’re not the type to lounge on the beach for 5 hours or spend ages by the pool when we’re halfway across the world. Also, we try to avoid places "ruined" by mass tourism (like Holbox in Mexico, which we loved 10 years ago but not at all on our last visit, or Phi Phi in Thailand, completely destroyed by mass tourism).
Special note: we love traveling by train :)

We’ve already explored Bali, eastern Java, and its volcanoes back in 2013, and we’d love to return to Java to discover other spots that aren’t so "mainstream." There’ll be three of us—a couple and our 25-year-old son. We love nature, small towns, villages, beautiful landscapes, and a bit of beach time... We’re used to backpacking around Southeast Asia. Any tips for exploring some great spots in Java in a coherent way, with 3 or 4 bases for a 3-week trip from late June to mid-July? We don’t want to revisit Bromo or Ijen (they seem way too crowded compared to 2013), and we might swing by Djogja but won’t redo Borobudur or Prambanan (same issue...). Looking forward to your tips! I’ve been wrestling with this question for weeks now: Flores or Sulawesi?
I’m leaving in July for 24 days, followed by 2 weeks around Makassar/Wakatobi for work. For the first part, I’m traveling with my family (my partner + 3 kids aged 6 to 14).
I’ve had a long-time dream of Komodo, but I’m worried it’s become super touristy... though the crossing to Maumere still sounds amazing. I’m also not thrilled about all the internal flights.
On the other hand, since I’ll be in Sulawesi anyway, I’m thinking a crossing from Gorontalo to Luwuk via the Togians (maybe even a few days in Banggai) + a detour to Toraja (which I visited 10 years ago) could be an incredible trip too.
For my family, this is their first trip to Indonesia, so I’d love it to feel *mythic* ;).
Any advice is welcome—I’m really struggling to decide! I know it’s a choice between two great options...

After visiting southern Sumatra in 2020 (Padang area, Bukkitinggi, Lake Maninjau), we’re heading north in two weeks to explore.
We’ll arrive in Medan after Singapore.
Then we plan to go to Bukit Lawang, Berastagi, and Lake Toba before finishing up on Pulau Weh.
Yeah, I know three weeks is short, but we like taking our time now that we’re in our fifties 😄.
My questions:
- Which direction should we do the loop: Medan → Bukit Lawang → Lake Toba → Medan (we’ll be traveling by taxi)?
- Can I buy the Medan/Banda Aceh flights just 10 days in advance while we’re there? Any airline to prefer?

We’ll be arriving and departing from Denpasar. Our itinerary is still entirely up in the air, and we’d like to explore islands other than Bali (we’ve already been there a few years ago).
I’d love to gather your tips and great recommendations to help us plan our route. For now, we’re thinking of visiting Lombok, Flores, and the Komodo archipelago. Here are some of our questions: - I visited Lombok myself back in 1999. I loved it, but I’ve been reading very mixed reviews in recent travel journals. Some are as enthusiastic as I was back then, while others are much more lukewarm (due to the overly strict and visible influence of the island’s governor on the population and because of massive hotel projects—I’m not sure if they’re on hold, underway, or completed). What’s the current situation? Is Lombok still a must-visit? And do you have any tips (hotels, places to visit, health, etc.)? - Still on Lombok, I did the Rinjani trek back then. I remember the hike wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t as tough as what I’ve read in quite a few recent travel journals... My partner and I are in decent shape, but that’s about it, and especially, my partner and our two daughters really don’t like the cold. What’s your experience with this trek? And do you have a trekking agency to recommend? (If we do it, I think we’d want to make sure we have good support, including quality gear, tents, jackets, etc.) - Flores and Komodo would be a completely new experience for all of us. Any tips and recommendations are welcome (sightseeing, accommodations, transport, etc.)! In particular, we’d like to explore the Komodo archipelago with a trusted agency that will take the time to show us the archipelago’s treasures in good conditions (safety and "decent" comfort). Do you know of any such agencies? - Are there other nearby islands you’d recommend? Any advice on places to visit and where to stay?

She knows UBUD is very touristy but plans to stay there and take day trips from there. Her main question: is it worth going to Flores just for Komodo? Agencies apparently offer mini-cruises for 2-3 days... Type of trip: 2 adults, no kids. They like taking their time and don’t want to rush. I think they don’t mind touristy spots but still hope to find some authenticity. Thanks for your thoughts!
I’m reaching out not for myself for once😛, but for a family member who’s heading to Bali in a month and has a thousand questions. Since she doesn’t spend much time online and I don’t know this part of the world at all, I thought I’d ask for feedback here. Here’s what she’s planning:

Je souhaite partir en Indonésie en Juillet 2020. J'ai déjà passé 15 jours à Bali en 2016.
J'aimerais avoir une idée du parcours à faire sur l’île de Java.

J'ai besoin de vos avis, conseils, tuyaux. :) Je parcours le forum, les carnets et j'épluche depuis quelques semaines le net et les guides mais je n'arrive vraiment pas à me décider….D'où ce post...
Nous somme 3 adultes (dont un grand ado) et arriveront le 3/08 après-midi à Denpasar. Nous avons 14 nuits sur place puisque repartons pour Paris le 17/08 au soir.
Voici les idées que j'ai sur mon itinéraire et ce que je voudrais faire/voir :
* A l'arrivée je pensais me poser 2 nuits sur Sanur, histoire de récupérer du décalage et prendre nos marques...Soit disons 2 nuits du 03 au 05/08. Me restent donc 12 nuits
Je désire ensuite bien entendu faire Ubud cela n'est pas discutable :) Je veux aller à Munduk mais d'après vous, comme je n'ai pas non plus beaucoup de temps dois-je le faire à la journée (je sais une très grosse journée) depuis Ubud ou dois-je loger sur place, dans ce cas disons 2 nuits ??
Ensuite cela se complique encore…. Aller au nord direction Pemuteran ou à l'Est direction Ahmed ??? Si Ahmed ce sera pour me rapprocher des Gili et faire 3 nuits sur Gili (Air ?)
Et enfin finir par 2-3 nuits au Sud , soit refaire Sanur ou une autre histoire de se poser un peu avant de repartir et reprendre le boulot le lendemain du retour.
On va donc dire que j'ai 9 nuits pour faire Ubud, et autre chose : Munduk, soit Gili, soit Pemutaran.
Je pars pour les 50 ans de mon mari avec notre fils qui aura tout juste 18 ans. Ils aiment l'animation, mais sans la fiesta, (par exemple ils adorent Chiang Mai et les marchés nocturnes de Thaïlande) et les belles plages… Et moi j'aime les beaux paysages et l'immersion dans la culture. Bien entendu au programme temples de Tanah Lot, temple de Jungutan et autres incontournables.
J'ai aussi une question concernant Ubud: impossible pour moi de loger dans un endroit trop bruyant, je veux donc fuir la ville d'Ubud et dormir au calme...Mais impossible pour nous (question handicap moteur léger) de faire du scooter. Ne serait-ce pas pénalisant de dormir dans la campagne et aller manger chaque jour le soir à Ubud pour trouver de la vie et de l'animation ?

Jai aussi du mal a comprendre les transports en commun alors que j ai l habitude de voyager en asie Je suis étonnée de ne trouver pratiquement aucun bus avec le moteur de recherche Rome2rio Algorhythme qui me permet de partir d un point A a un point B et qui decrit tous les modes de transports
Existe il des bus reliant les villes les plus touristiques EX Makassar lac tempé ?
Comment fonctionnent les voitures Nous sommes 3 faut il louer une voiture ou autre collectivement?
Pour les Toggians Si je viens de Gorontalo il n y a qu un ferry public d apres mes recherches sur des jours specifiques ! Je souhaite aller de delong a wakai Est ce que on trouve des bateaux privés depuis Gorontalo pour wakai ? ou Delong? tous les jours? Trouve t on des bateaux sérieux tous les jours ? Ces bateaux sont ils rapides ou pas ?
J ai vu que vous aviez posté des horaires de Ferry public depuis Ampana (wakai Delong) Pourriez vous me les poster ? Ext ce plus facile de ce coté la ? Peut on trouver des ferry privés ou public tous les jours ? Peut on repartir par Delong? pour arriver vers Gorontalo
Connaissez vous les Baggians ? Avez vous des horaires depuis Luwuk Les ferry naviguent ils tous les jours ?
Si je pars de Luwuk est ce possible d aller aussi dans les toggians ? auriez vous des infos ?
