J'ai des billets pour un voyage en Indonésie (Raja Ampat et Sulawesi) avec un départ début juillet et retour fin aout. Mes billets ont été pris au mois d'octobre 2019... Est ce que certains sont dans le même cas? J'ai des billets Lufthansa pour Jakarta et ensuite des vols intérieurs pour Sorong et un retour de Manado avec Batik. Normalement je prends un visa touriste 60 jours qui mets au moins 3 semaines à être fait. J 'ai bien compris que le vol doit être annulé si on veut espérer au moins un avoir (je veux bien partir en 2021...). Je n'arrive pas à avoir des infos sur l'Indonésie. Je viens de voir que la Thaïlande ré ouvre complétement son pays au tourisme. Je me demande ce qu'il en est pour l'Indo... Est ce que quelqu'un a des infos? Quid de mon visa à temps pour début juin (le 9 de mémoire)? Merci pour vos retours. Ça commence à prendre la tête cette histoire...

Après Bali et Malaca + Singapour, je souhaiterais aller à SUMATRA. Ce n'est pas une destination très courue mais j'espère quand même que vous allez pouvoir m'aiguiller.

Je viendrais de Mallaca et je souhaiterais faire l'itinéraire suivant :

lac Maninjau Vallée d'Harau Lac Toba

Jusque là, même si ce n'est pas idéal pour les transports, tout va bien.

Ensuite, je pensais aller à l'ile de WEH (Pulau Weh) et là, question transport, c'est compliqué et quand je lis que parfois le ferry n'assure pas le service, pour le retour, si j'ai un vol pour le retour en Europe, ça risque d'être gênant.

J'ai regardé sur skyscanner un vol a/r Medan-Sabang (aéroport de Pulau Weh) mais pas d'infos.

Finalement, je me dis que je peux aller sur une autre île (je n'y vais pas pour la plongée mais pour me baigner et de belles plages). Mais si je vois comment aller sur les Mentawai ou les Bayak, l'accès est tout aussi compliqué et les bateaux ne fonctionnent pas tous les jours !!!!!

Quelle île me proposez-vous ?

Je prépare un voyage en été 2021 à Bali.

J'ai repéré des hotels, et imaginé un itinéraire. J'ai l'habitude d'organiser des voyages en Europe en m'occupant de réserver vol, hotel, location de vehicules, excursions etc moi meme. Cela me pose plus de problèmes pour des destinations plus lointaines, d'autant plus lorsqu'on voyage avec un enfant. J'aurai aimé avoir vos avis 7 commentaires sur l'itinéraire :

Arrivée Bali Transfert à Ubud et 5 nuits sur place. Location de voiture avec chauffeur ou guide pour excursions depuis Ubud Ensuite, deux nuits à Munduk Je pensais aller ensuite 3 nuits sur Gili Air avant de redescendre au sud de Lombok pour une fin de séjour plus tranquille à Lombok Kuta (4 nuits) Retour sur Bali, pour une nuit avant retour.

Est ce que cet itinéraire vous parait possible ? J'ai prévu de faire pas mal de chose depuis Ubud qui est central pour ne pas multiplier les hébergements.

Hi there, After visiting southern Sumatra in 2020 (Padang area, Bukkitinggi, Lake Maninjau), we’re heading north in two weeks to explore. We’ll arrive in Medan after Singapore. Then we plan to go to Bukit Lawang, Berastagi, and Lake Toba before finishing up on Pulau Weh. Yeah, I know three weeks is short, but we like taking our time now that we’re in our fifties 😄. My questions: - Which direction should we do the loop: Medan → Bukit Lawang → Lake Toba → Medan (we’ll be traveling by taxi)? - Can I buy the Medan/Banda Aceh flights just 10 days in advance while we’re there? Hi everyone, First post in years on the forum—I’m so happy it’s back up and running!

I’ve been wrestling with this question for weeks now: Flores or Sulawesi?

I’m leaving in July for 24 days, followed by 2 weeks around Makassar/Wakatobi for work. For the first part, I’m traveling with my family (my partner + 3 kids aged 6 to 14).

I’ve had a long-time dream of Komodo, but I’m worried it’s become super touristy... though the crossing to Maumere still sounds amazing. I’m also not thrilled about all the internal flights.

On the other hand, since I’ll be in Sulawesi anyway, I’m thinking a crossing from Gorontalo to Luwuk via the Togians (maybe even a few days in Banggai) + a detour to Toraja (which I visited 10 years ago) could be an incredible trip too.

For my family, this is their first trip to Indonesia, so I’d love it to feel *mythic* ;).

Any advice is welcome—I’m really struggling to decide! I know it’s a choice between two great options...

We’ve already explored Bali, eastern Java, and its volcanoes back in 2013, and we’d love to return to Java to discover other spots that aren’t so "mainstream." There’ll be three of us—a couple and our 25-year-old son. We love nature, small towns, villages, beautiful landscapes, and a bit of beach time... We’re used to backpacking around Southeast Asia. Any tips for exploring some great spots in Java in a coherent way, with 3 or 4 bases for a 3-week trip from late June to mid-July? We don’t want to revisit Bromo or Ijen (they seem way too crowded compared to 2013), and we might swing by Djogja but won’t redo Borobudur or Prambanan (same issue...). Looking forward to your tips! Je rêve depuis petite d'observer les orang-outans dans leur milieu naturel. Entre Sumatra et Kalimantan, la seconde destination plairait davantage à mon conjoint et moi-même. Je débute à peine mes recherches, et je me rends compte que :

1°) ce n'est pas simple d'accéder à cette région de Bornéo, le trajet sera long depuis la France, et son cout élevé (sachant que nous partirions sur 16 jours),

2°) il n'y a pas beaucoup d'informations sur internet, pour faire un itinéraire, ou concernant les transports par exemple.

Du coup, pensez-vous que nous pourrons bien profiter en si peu de temps, ou pensez-vous qu'il faudrait plutot s'orienter sur Sumatra ? Qu'en est-il des transports sur place ? Avez-vous une idée de ce qu'il serait possible de faire en 14 jours sur place ? Serait-il possible, par exemple, de faire le parc national de Tanjung Puting, mais aussi d'aller jusqu'à Derawan par exemple ? Je n'ai pas du tout conscience des temps de trajet.

Nous n'avons pas l'habitude de passer par une agence de voyage : est-ce nécessaire pour cette destination ? Ou alors, faut-il prendre un guide sur place pour la totalité du séjour, seulement pour certaines activités ?

Enfin, notre voyage aurait lieu en février. J'ai cru voir que c'est la basse saison. Certains d'entre vous sont-ils partis à cette période ? Qu'en est-il niveau météo ?

Bonjour, Nous aurions besoin de conseils avisés pour l'organisation d'un voyage de 4 semaines en Indonésie ; nous avions prévu de partir grosso modo de mi-mai à mi-juin, pour bénéficier d'un climat favorable, sans être en haute saison (nos billets du vol international ne sont pas encore achetés). Or il se trouve que le ramadan cette année se termine le 23 mai d'où de gros doutes sur la façon de planifier au mieux ce voyage : commencer par Bali terminer par Yogyakarta ???

Nous avons visité plusieurs pays d'Asie mais il agirait de notre premier voyage en Indonésie ; aussi nous voudrions découvrir un maximum (mais pas à un rythme effréné). Le pays étant si vaste, nous sommes un peu perdus dans les choix qu'il nous faut faire. Nos priorités serait : Bali, Sulawesi (surtout pour le pays des Toraja), Florès. Komodo car nous aimerions voir des dragons de Komodo (si possible sans faire une croisière de plusieurs jours car nous avons lu que le logement sur ces bateaux était vraiment sommaire ou alors très coûteux) mt Bromo... et les sites autour de Yogyakarta.

Petites précisions : nous sommes un couple de seniors habitués à voyager en indépendants, mais de façon confortable, aimant autant les sites culturels que la nature. Seul mon mari pratique un peu de snorkeling.

Overall, what do you think?

I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

Agencies apparently offer mini-cruises for 2-3 days... Type of trip: 2 adults, no kids. They like taking their time and don’t want to rush. Does this itinerary seem doable? My main question is about optimizing the route between Cemoro and Jepara. Can we connect to Jepara from Surabaya? Any suggestions for things to see along the way?

J'ai beaucoup suivi ce forum et ses membres formidables, merci beaucoup à vous pour tous vos retours d'expériences et propositions, c'est grâce à vous que j'ai visité beaucoup de lieux en Indonésie. Je suis un féru d'Indonésie depuis 2012 je souhaite organiser un trip de 3 semaines moyennement rythmé en transports avec mon meilleur pote.

J'ai déjà visité West Java (Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Kawah Putih et campagnes environnantes ) - Central Java (Yogja, Temples Hindous), Bali et ses Nusa, Lombok et ses Gili, Komodo, West Timur, Sumatra (Padang, Medan, Banda Aceh, Pulau Weh) et les Togean (Sulawesi). Il faudrait donc exclure ces endroits.

Je suis preneur de tout itinéraire sympa (en dehors de ce que j'ai déjà fait) voici notre style de voyage :

Bon rythme mais pas trop effrené non plus, l'avion est toujours privilégié. Pour le confort moyen +, faut que ce soit propre c'est tout. Diving Snorkeling, 1 Jungle Trek , lieux culturels (s'ils existent), 1 ou 2 villes sympa max, 1 volcan à faire

Voici ma proposition de parcours je reste à votre écoute pour toute remarques :

Semaine 1 :

Arrivée Manado ( 2 jours de repos et visite ville) après c'est le flou conseillez-vous Tangkoko pour un beau trek en jungle et voir les primates ? Par rapport aux îles on veut éviter Bunaken, que recommandez-vous entre Bangka, Talisei et Lembeh pour seulement 2/3 jours ? (Diving, Plages de qualité, un peu de vie ?)

Semaine 2 :

Hésitation entre une semaine dans la région d'Ambon et 1 semaine dans la région de Ternate. Pour ceux qui l'ont fait que recommandez-vous de faire en 1 semaine dans l'un de ces coins ?

Semaine 3 :

Puis il nous restera 3 jours pour se reposer, là on voudrait un seul coin (une seule plage) pas loin d'un aéroport pour rentrer sur Jakarta puis Paris (généralement c'est Canggu Bali) que me conseilleriez-vous pour changer ? Sumbawa ?

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

Family of 4—2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 15) who are well-traveled. We’re planning a 15-day trip to Indonesia and would love your thoughts on our itinerary. We love discovering local culture, food (!!), seeing beautiful landscapes, and keeping an active pace. We’re not the type to lounge on the beach for 5 hours or spend ages by the pool when we’re halfway across the world. Also, we try to avoid places "ruined" by mass tourism (like Holbox in Mexico, which we loved 10 years ago but not at all on our last visit, or Phi Phi in Thailand, completely destroyed by mass tourism).

Special note: we love traveling by train :)

Here’s what we’ve planned so far:

**Day 1** Arrival in Jakarta, then domestic flight to Yogyakarta. Settle in Yogyakarta.

**Day 2** Borobudur in the morning, then exploring nearby villages.

**Day 3** Prambanan in the morning, followed by culinary discovery / market / local vibe in Yogyakarta.

**Day 4** Train to Jombang, then driver/bus to the Bromo area. Overnight stay.

**Day 5** Sunrise at Bromo, exploring the volcano and sea of sand. Relax in the afternoon.

**Day 6** Travel to eastern Java, then train, ferry, and road to reach Sidemen in Bali.

**Day 7** Sidemen

**Day 8** Sidemen

**Day 9** Sidemen

**Day 10** Transfer to Gili Air (car to the port + fast boat?)

**Day 11** Gili Air

**Day 12** Gili Air

**Day 13** Transfer to Ubud

**Day 14** Ubud

**Day 15** Return to Bali airport, flight to Jakarta, then international flight.

Does this itinerary seem coherent for a family? Does it feel too packed or well-balanced? Would you make any changes to certain stops, durations, or transfers?

J'ai volontairement évité la presqu'île de Bukit car nous ne sommes pas adeptes de la fête balnéaire.

Je me demande si aller 2 jours à Permuteran se justifie ? ou mieux vaudrait rajouter 1 nuit à Ubud et 1 nuit ailleurs ? Difficile de faire des choix .... J'hésite aussi entre prendre des chauffeurs au fur et à mesure ou me mettre en contact avec un guide dès maintenant et qu'il nous organise les visites, les transferts et les commentaires...

J ai reflechi à un trajet sur 18 jours du sud vers le nord Si vous estimez que c est jouable super n hésitez pas à me donner des conseils

A compter de Ampana j hesite à continuer vers le nord par un trajet classique OU de bifurquer vers l archipel des Bangai !

😊Dans ce cas si vers l archipel de Bangai je resterai 5 nuits soit 6 jours pour revenir sur Ampana prendre un vol ensuite sur Makassar :) et si la liaison existe….

😉Si trajet classique dont les Togians, je cherche 2 spots de séjour quelles iles? pour snorkeling ou plongée … ou farniente !!!!

Hi everyone, I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027. 10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta. We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo). I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself. But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal... Thanks for any tips or experiences you can share!

I arrive in Jakarta on July 24th and want to head to Flores Island the next day. Do you know which airlines offer direct flights to Labuan Bajo (or elsewhere)? Is it possible to book tickets directly on Indonesian airline websites (I get the feeling that when connecting from France, access is blocked...)

Also, are there direct flights from Maumere or Ende back to Jakarta for the return trip, or do I have to go back through Labuan Bajo?

In early July, we’re heading to Indonesia for a solid three weeks as a family (my partner and I are in our fifties, and we have two daughters aged 17 and 20). We’ll be arriving and departing from Denpasar. Our itinerary is still entirely up in the air, and we’d like to explore islands other than Bali (we’ve already been there a few years ago).

I’d love to gather your tips and great recommendations to help us plan our route. For now, we’re thinking of visiting Lombok, Flores, and the Komodo archipelago. Here are some of our questions: - I visited Lombok myself back in 1999. I loved it, but I’ve been reading very mixed reviews in recent travel journals. Some are as enthusiastic as I was back then, while others are much more lukewarm (due to the overly strict and visible influence of the island’s governor on the population and because of massive hotel projects—I’m not sure if they’re on hold, underway, or completed). What’s the current situation? Is Lombok still a must-visit? And do you have any tips (hotels, places to visit, health, etc.)? - Still on Lombok, I did the Rinjani trek back then. I remember the hike wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t as tough as what I’ve read in quite a few recent travel journals... My partner and I are in decent shape, but that’s about it, and especially, my partner and our two daughters really don’t like the cold. What’s your experience with this trek? And do you have a trekking agency to recommend? (If we do it, I think we’d want to make sure we have good support, including quality gear, tents, jackets, etc.) - Flores and Komodo would be a completely new experience for all of us. Any tips and recommendations are welcome (sightseeing, accommodations, transport, etc.)! In particular, we’d like to explore the Komodo archipelago with a trusted agency that will take the time to show us the archipelago’s treasures in good conditions (safety and "decent" comfort). Do you know of any such agencies? - Are there other nearby islands you’d recommend? Any advice on places to visit and where to stay?

We’ll have three weeks on the ground... and we like to mix sightseeing with downtime where we just enjoy the moment. So we’re not looking for an overly packed itinerary, but still something rich (no point traveling so far just to lie on a sunbed all day ;-))

Bonjour à tous. Étant en préparation pour mon prochain séjour d'un mois en janvier prochain, 3 destinations m'attirent, mais j'hésite dans mon choix. Pour ceux qui ont fait les 3 destinations, quel sont les avantages et différences? Ce que je recherche c'est 1-le cout sur place (pension oblige),2- la sécurité 3- la gentillesse des gens et la richesse culturelle. Je voyage sac à dos, en louant scooter ou transport en commun, et ne recherche pas le party mais bien la tranquilité et le quotidien des gens, de belles plages et paysages grandioses. Voici ou j'en suis dans mes réflections: Indonésie et Phillipines= trop grand pour un mois (donc encore plus indécis sur l'itinéraire) Le Sri Lanka me rebute pour une seule raison , l'hygiène (mes craintes sont-elles fondées?). Par contre il semble facile de s'y déplacer et d'en faire le tour en un mois. Bref, après avoir consulter différents forum et m'etre procurer les guides de chaque destination mentionnée, le ressenti de personne y ayant séjourné ou qui y vivent m'éclairerais peut-etre. Hi everyone on the forum, happy to be back! I’m planning a 15-day trip to Flores in October. I’m coming from Bali, which I know well, as well as Lombok and Sulawesi, but it’s my first time in Flores. I’d love to hear about your experiences—what should I see? How long should I stay at each stop? I travel at a relaxed pace and won’t be renting a scooter. I enjoy walking, exploring, and taking it easy—not just lounging on beaches. For some trips, I can hire a driver and car if public transport is complicated. Thanks for your tips! 🙂

We (a couple) are heading to Indonesia from July 9th to August 15th (I already know some spots). > We’re hesitating about the direction of the route: Java/Bali/Nusa/Flores/Sula or Java/Sula/Flores/Bali—does it depend on the rain and flights? (That’s my first question, by the way :)) We land in Jkt on the 9th (follow-up question: where to stay? We saw the Wonderloft for 20 €—does that seem reasonable? I used to pay way less a long time ago). We’d like to leave for Borobudur on the 10th in the mid-afternoon (question 2: train or VIP bus—we’ll have just landed—nighttime or not?). Next question: any chill but nice places to stay in Borobudur, Yogyakarta, and Solo? We’re thinking one full day in Borobudur, then Yogyakarta (1 day), then Solo (1 day). Does that work time-wise without rushing?

After that, we’re heading toward the volcanoes (I always mix them up… any tips?) and crossing over to Bali (2 days?). If I’m calculating right, we’ll be in Java from the 9th to the 18th—does that sound okay to you? Or too much? I’m struggling to estimate how long temples and volcanoes take to visit.

Bali: I used to stay around Seminyak or Canggu. What’s the best place to stay now without breaking the bank? Somewhere not overrun by Australian surfers or hipster restaurants? Another question: where and how to rent a scooter in Bali? (So we can easily get to the temples and Ubud?) Is there still a way to see Kecak without it feeling super touristy, or is it just for tourists now?

We’re detouring to Nusa Penida: same deal—I want to see rays but don’t necessarily want to dive. I’ve heard the sea can be rough. Where to stay for 2–3 chill days? What to do there? It’s all new to me (haven’t researched it yet).

Then to get to Flores: do we *have* to go back through Bali and take a flight? I haven’t looked into Flores or Sulawesi much yet, so I’m not even sure what questions to ask ;) Feel free to point me in the right direction—thanks!

My kids are dreaming of discovering Indonesia this summer—they’ll be celebrating their 15th and 20th birthdays! For the occasion, I was thinking of Sulawesi, a bit farther from Bali’s crowds.

I usually plan my trips myself, but I’ll admit I’m a little lost when it comes to transportation and logistics. We’d be there for about 18 days.

I’ve looked into guided tours, but the prices are pretty high. North or south for 3 weeks? Anyone have any firsthand experience to share?

My teenage daughter and I are heading to Sulawesi in July-August for 5 weeks. We don’t know Indonesia at all—this will be our first time. When we travel, we’re not used to booking accommodations in advance because we love improvising based on our mood and what comes up in the moment... For Sulawesi, though, from what I’ve read, I’m a little worried we might get stuck here and there, especially in more touristy spots, if we leave everything open... So, advice from those in the know—what do you think? Should we plan a bit ahead? Thanks a million for your feedback!
