Bonjour, Je pars en Thailande fin janvier, et après 9 jours dans les "îles" du sud-est (Kao Lak pour commencer, puis Koh Phiphi et Koh Lanta), et avant de prendre le vol retour à bangkok, il me restera 6 jours (et 5 nuits) dont trajets. Initialement je pensais aller 3 jours à Koh Samui, puis rentrer en train de nuit de Surat Thani. Mais au final je ne sais pas si c'est le bon choix. Est-ce qu'il ne serait pas plus intéressant de passer 3 jours du côté de Prachuap Khiri Khan (et Bang Saphan), en remontant ? Ca a l'air très joli, et sans doute moins usine à touristes, qu'en pensez-vous ? Je suis plus à la recherche de beaux paysages, sports (nautiques, rando, vélo), et plutôt authenticité (calme et nature) même si je sais que ça sera tout relatif sur ce point Mais j'ai peur de me retrouver avec des trajets galère à gérer si je prends cette 2e option ; car alors ça ne serait pas possible de nuit. Ou alors priviléger Koh Phan Ngan ? Ou combiner Koh Phan Ngan et Prachuap avec le bateau jusqu'à Chumpon ? Un journée à Bangkok à l'arrivée avant le reprendre l'avion le soir est prévue et me suffira pour ce qui est de cette ville. Merci par avance de vos conseils.

I’m heading to Thailand for the first time at the end of January 2026 for two weeks. I’m traveling with someone who’s already been there, so we’re planning to hit some of the must-see spots but also visit places my partner wants to see—like Krabi, for example. We want a bit of everything: cities, food, culture, walks, but also beach time and relaxation. I’d love your thoughts on this itinerary idea—is it doable without feeling too rushed? We’ve got 16 nights there. There’s a part of the trip that’s still up in the air where I’m not sure what to do. Either we add a national park or a city like Erawan? The goal is to see beautiful landscapes, waterfalls (if there’s water at that time of year!), and wildlife... Or maybe we don’t add anything and just extend our time in the other stops! Depending on the final choice, the order might need adjusting 🙂

Day 1: Land in Bangkok from Paris at 2 PM—either we take a direct flight to Krabi to start our trip there (and end in Bangkok on the way back), or we stay in Bangkok for 3 days. Day 1/Day 2/Day 3/Day 4 (3.5 days, 4 nights): Bangkok (temples, floating market, possibly a day trip to Ayutthaya) Day 5/Day 6/Day 7/Day 8: Travel to Krabi, Railay, and day trips to the surrounding islands Day 9/Day 10/Day 11/Day 12: Travel to an island (probably Koh Tao), snorkeling, diving, trekking, Ang Thong excursion? Day 13/Day 14/Day 15: Leave the island for an undecided destination—a national park (Khao Sok? Khao Sam Roi Yot?)? Or Phang Nga Bay? Or Erawan? Day 16: Return to Bangkok Day 17: Departure (flight at 2 PM)

What do you think? Any advice or tips on the itinerary or the ideas for Days 13-15? (Which could be moved to another part of the trip depending on the route.) Just to note, we’re not big hikers or adventurers, but we do enjoy discovery, nature, and cultural visits like temples. Thanks in advance for your valuable tips 🙂

Dans le cadre d'une préparation d'un voyage en Thailande pour lequel nous arriverions à l'aeroport de Phuket (mais sans rester dans le secteur Phuket), quel serait le meilleur moyen pour aller à Surat Thani et plus précisément à l'embarcadère qui va à Ko Pha Ngan ? En combien de temps ? Et surtout sur quel tarif compter pour 2 adultes ?

Au retour de cette ile, nous envisageons de louer une voiture à Surat Thani pour aller passer quelques jours sur Krabi et avoir ainsi plus d'autonomie pour visiter les environs, avant de reprendre notre avion à Phuket mais à l'aller nous trouvons dommage de louer une voiture de Phuket pour la laisser plusieurs jours à l'embarcadère de Donsak Raja... En plus, ce sera notre première fois en Asie, donc on voudrait un temps d'adaptation de quelques jours avant de conduire là bas....

Je voudrais savoir s il y a des hébergements pas loin de l embarcadère ou dans le coin et comment à moindre frais je peux me rendre de l aéroport proche justement de l embarcadère dumoins à mon logement où je vais passer une nuit. car ensuite après mes 2 nuits sur le lac je vais passer 3 nuits à khao sok. J'ai vu qu'il y a 65 kms donc je trouve ridicule en arrivant de l aéroport d'aller à khao sok pour une nuit pour retourner au lac le lendemain matin merci pour vos conseils

I’m heading to Thailand in February 2025 with my family (my partner and two kids), and we’ll be spending a few days in Khao Sok.

I plan to fly into Surat Thani Airport from Bangkok, but I haven’t booked the flight yet because I can’t find clear, up-to-date info on transportation between the airport and Khao Sok village (we’re staying at Green Mountain View).

If possible, I’d love to find a direct transfer that doesn’t require going through Surat Thani city.

The site https://12go.asia/ has a lot of options, but I’ll admit it’s pretty confusing—especially since I’m not sure which arrival time to pick:



Then there’s a mix of taxi and minivan offers, some with schedules, some without, and some that don’t even match the destination I chose. It’s all a bit overwhelming!

I’ve also read that Phantip Travel offers cheap transfers, but their website doesn’t list Khao Sok as a destination when you select Surat Thani Airport.

Basically, I just want to play it safe—book the right flight with a schedule that makes it easy to get to Khao Sok without any hassle...

Ça fait un moment que je ne suis pas retourné sur le coin et je m'interroge sur la régularité/ponctualité des trajets : une arrivée à l'aéroport 1h avant le vol, est-ce suffisant ?

Une des compagnies (Lomprayah, Rajah, Phantip) est-elle plus fiable qu'une autre ?

This year, we wanted to explore the southeast coast of Thailand for a change—from Hua Hin down to Surat Thani. We were strongly advised against going any further south.

However, we noticed that the beaches in Hua Hin aren’t exactly stunning, and the further south you go, the more beautiful they get—white, fine sand like in Samui. Do you have any recommendations for gorgeous beaches along this coast? Thanks!

Arrival – 2 nights in Bangkok (any hotel recommendations? Very quiet, near Chinatown or by the river)

Train or taxi (which app should I use for Thailand?) to Phetchaburi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations?)

Daytime train to Surat Thani – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Pick up the rental car and head to Khao Sok – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Ko Kho Khao – 3 nights – relaxation (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Phang Nga Bay – 1 night (any base recommendations?)

Excursion in the bay, then drive to Krabi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations) or any other spot with beautiful, quiet beaches that you might know?

Return to Surat Thani – overnight train to Bangkok, then Ayutthaya (any hotel recommendations?)

Visit the site and transfer to the airport – sniff, time to head back!

If you have other suggestions, keeping in mind the trip’s vibe: beach time without crowds or entertainment, a bit of nature, a bit of culture, no stress... No domestic flights and charming accommodations (not at 150 € per night, even though the budget is reasonable!)

Not sure I’ll follow them all, but all your ideas are welcome! 😉

During this trip, we want to discover a new culture, beautiful landscapes, eat well, do some beach time (with snorkeling), all while trying to keep it authentic and close to nature.

We have the opportunity to get away for a little two-week trip at the very beginning of January, just the two of us, without our kids. Because of the kids, we haven’t traveled much in Asia, so we’d love to take advantage of their absence to explore Thailand. Even though I’m used to planning our trips, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed this time.

We’d like to visit Bangkok and head south by renting a car (we have an international driver’s license, and my husband has driven on the left before). I’ve managed to sketch out a rough itinerary that might work for us, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

To set the scene: we haven’t booked anything yet, we don’t like spending hours on the beach (though a little time at the end of the day is fine), we love walking and sightseeing, and what we enjoy most is being independent (so if we can avoid group tours, that’s ideal).

After that intro, here’s the rough outline of our itinerary: Day 0: Paris-Bangkok flight Days 1, 2, and 3: Bangkok (Wat Pho, Grand Palace, Wat Arun, markets, boat ride through the khlongs, Jim Thompson House) Day 4: Ayutthaya Day 5: Pick up a rental car and head to Sam Roi Yot Day 6: Sam Roi Yot and Prachuap Khiri Khan Day 7: Drive south – overnight near Surat Thani Day 8: Uthayan Tham Khao Na Nai, then drive to Ao Nang (staying near Tubkaek) Days 9 and 10: Boat trips (Railay, Ko Hong, etc.) Day 11: Drive to Phang Nga with a few stops along the way Day 12: Boat tour (mangroves and Ko Tapu) Day 13: Drive to Phuket Airport and return flight

A few questions and doubts: - I’d considered Cheow Lan Lake but read some not-so-great reviews (crowds, just 3 viewpoints, and the rest was meh). What do you think? - Can we start from Ao Thalane Pier for trips to Ko Hong and Ko Tapu? - I’m not thrilled about driving through Bangkok, but I’m not sure where to rent a car west of the city (since we won’t return it to the same place, I assume it’s best to target rental companies at airports).

After that, I’ll be heading from Railay to Koh Yao Noi. Should I buy tickets from a local agency or at the pier?

Are foreigners targeted or profiled when driving a rental vehicle?

The routes I’d be taking aren’t in Phuket itself—Phuket would just be the arrival point—but rather around Khao Lak, Krabi, Surat Thani, and the inland areas in that region.

Je me suis renseigné sur le forum, il existe "boss cheaper than taxi" mais ils me demandent 2000 baht... pas si cheap que ça.

Du coup, même si ça me prend le double (4H) je me tâte pour les transports en commun. Mais je ne sais pas comment choper le bus direction Khao Sok depuis Phuket aéroport.

Je souhaite pendre le bus d'abord de Kachanaburi pour rejoindre la ligne de train Bangkok Chumphon, quel est la meilleur option de gare sur cette ligne pour prendre le train : Ban Pong, rachanburi, où Nakon pathon? J'ai vu qu'il était préférable de reserver ce train, est ce possible par internet où peut on le faire à partir de n'importe quel gare du pays où quand je ferais le trajet Bangkok Kachan en bus quelques jour avant serait il possible de descendre aller reserver à la gare de Ban Pong par exemple? Une fois fois arrivé a chumphon doit ont passer la nuit où est il jouable de faire bus train ferry la même journée?

de retour sur le forum, cette fois-ci je sollicite de l'aide des pros de la Thailande pour un avis sur un itinéraire.. Pour planter le décor, ce sera notre première dans un pays asiatique, nous sommes plutôt habitués aux voyages en Europe et l'ouest Américain, donc très peu de connaissance sur le "mode" Asie si ce n'est ce que j'ai lu a droite et à gauche dans les carnets de voyage... Nous envisageons ce voyage en janvier 2021 (ou on est pas en retard, mais pour commencer à regarder les prix des billets d'avion sans tarder, il fallait que j'ai une base...)

A priori, les tarifs des billets d'avion sont beaucoup plus intéressants sur du Lyon (aeroport proche de chez nous) Bangkok, mais pour un premier voyage en Thailande, nous n'avons pas envie de visiter cette énorme mégalopole... Et nous ne savons pas trop si sur le secteur Chiang Mai ou dans le centre et sud, nous pouvons louer une voiture, donc j'ai pour l'instant fait 2 options... Donc, l'itinéraire serait le suivant ...

J1+2 : Vol Lyon - Chiang Mai J3 - 4 - 5 : visite du secteur de Chiang Mai avec location voiture ou excursions avec chauffeur En fin de J5, vol pour Surat Thani ou le matin du J6 (selon horaires et tarifs des vols) J6 : Arrivée à Surat Thani la veille au soir ou le matin - Option location de voiture (je crois qu'il y a Budget à l'aeroport) : route pour Prachuak KK Option train pour monter à Prachuap KK J7 - 8 - 9 : Secteur Prachuap KK + Sam Roi Yot (grotte Phraya Nakhon) Jour 9, si location de voiture, on commence à redescendre ... Si train, jour 9 train de nuit à PKK 23h56 pour arriver le matin du J10 à Surat Thani

J10 : Si voiture, selon où on se sera posé la veille, suite de la route jusqu'au parc National de Khao Sok Si on arrive au train à Surat Thani, transfert à Khao Sok, ou prise d'une location de voiture à Surat Thani car je pense que dans se secteur jusqu'à Krabi, ça ne doit pas être trop dangereux car pas de trop grandes distances (contrairement à la route entre Surat et Prachuap qui est peut-être longue...) J11 : excursion Khao Sok et nuit sur le lac... A voir comment on peut organiser cela, on voudrait quand même quelque chose d'assez confortable sur le lac, faire une balade sur le lac où il y a les grandes falaises et une petite rando dans la jungle mais sans forcément visiter des grottes en marchant dans l'eau... On est pas très aventuriers "Koh Lantha"

J12 : Route (si voiture) ou Transfert sur Krabi au retour de notre nuit sur le lac

J13 - 14 - 15 : Installation Krabi (Ao Nang ?) pour 3 jours, repos et excursions baie de Phang Nga Si voiture, nous la rendrons fin de jour 15

J16 : Speed boat pour Koh Lipe J 17 - 18 : Koh Lipe J19 : Speed Boat pour Krabi - J20 : Vol Krabi - Lyon / Selon tarifs des vols, eventuellement faire un vol Krabi / BKK en fin de J19 et Vol BKK - Lyon si plus interessant

Voilà en gros, merci de me dire si cela semble réalisable... De plus, pensez-vous que nous puissions arriverà boucler avec un budget de maxi 2000 € par personne ?? En tenant compte que nous essayerons de choisir des hébergement de moyenne catégorie, pas de 25 € la nuit mais pas non plus des hebergements de luxe... A priori compter un hebergement assez cher pour la nuit sur le lac de Khao Sok, mais bon... J'ai vu qu'il fallait compter environ 20 € par jour pour une location de voiture, ce qui reste assez cher pour la Thailande, mais je suppose que sans voiture, si on additionne le train et les coûts de tranferts, guide (même si dans certains cas, on aura besoin de guide avec une voiture), cela devrait peut-être nous revenir largement plus cher ??? J'ai aussi pensé au système location de voiture avec chauffeur, mais cela veut dire qu'on aurait besoin de quelqu'un du jour 6 à 12, donc je pense assez cher aussi surtout si on veut un chauffeur qui parle Anglais. Dans ce cas là, les chauffeurs font-il guide en même temps, ou juste chauffeur et qu'on doive à chaque endroit prendre un guide si besoin ?? Désolée pour ces questions qui peuvent paraître bêtes, mais l'Asie est pour l'instant un grand mystère pour nous.

Enfin dernière chose, normalement nous partons seulement à 2 : si nous proposons à des amis de se joindre à nous et que nous sommes 4 ou 6, vaudrait-il le coup de demander à une agence française de nous organiser ce circuit avec chauffeur ? J'ai remarqué que les tarifs des agences sont chères pour 2 personnes mais que le prix baisse considérablement si on est plus nombreux : dans ce cas, avez-vous des agences à me conseiller car en tapant sur Google, il y en a à profusion...

Par contre, il y a tellement à voir que nous devons choisir parmi les endroit que voudrions visiter. Nous allons arriver à Bangkok, se diriger vers Chiang Mai en passant par Lop buri, c’est par la suite que nous hésitons... on descend vers les îles, mais les endroits suivant nous intéressent : Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Phuket, Ko phi phi. Nous voudrions des conseils sur quelles places/îles valent plus la peine dêtre visitées et les moyens de transport pour s’y rendre, sachant de passer de l’Ouest à l’Est peut être long et nous ne voulons pas passer trop de temps sur la route.. merci !! :)

Je débute dans les voyages, et je commence à me passsioner pour la découverte du monde. Je voyage avec ma compagne en essayant de trouver une destination qui nous fasse plaisir à tous les deux. En effet, madame recherche surtout des plages bleues turquoises, alors que moi je préfère quelque chose de fort culturellement. Pour donner un exemple, nous sommes partis cet été à Bali 10 jours pour le côté culturel et avons fini par les îles Gili 5 jours pour le côté plage de carte postale.

Je recherche donc une destination d'une quinzaine de jours pour l'été prochain. Le but est d'allier donc culture et plages de rêve. J'avais donc pensé à Ko Samui, est-ce qu'il y a beaucoup de choses à faire pour 7-10 jours en dehors des plages où est-ce que c'est trop long ? Est-il possible de rentrer dans le planning quelques jours au Cambodge ? ou quelques jours dans une province Thaïlandaise ? (Surat Thani, Ranong, Chumpon etc)

Si vous avez une idée d'une autre destination dans le monde pour ce que je recherche, je suis à l'écoute.

Bonjour aux voyageurs et voyageuses, Je planifie un séjour en thailande en famille, j'envisageais un trajet Chiang Mai - Koh Tao sur une journée mais en regardant de plus près les horaires sur les différents sites hé bien je ne trouve pas de solution, sans une nuit étape. Les vols Chiang Mai - Chumpon ou Chiang Mai-Surath thani arrivent en fin de matinée au plus tôt et trop tard pour attraper les combinés bus/ferry Songserm et Lumpraya qui partent trop tôt (ils se calent en fait sur les arrivées à l'aéroport le matin pour ceux qui n'arrivent que de bangkok).

J'ai également regardé les vols directs Chiang Mai-Koh Samui (que j'aimerais franchement éviter vu le prix) mais là encore l'arrivée à l'aéroport de Koh Samui fin de matinée vers 11h et les derniers départs de bateau que j'ai trouvé un peu trop justes s'il y a le moindre retards (départ du bateau au plus tard 12h30) N'y a t il aucun transfert en bateau en début d'aprés midi de Chumphon ou surath thani c'est quand même surprenant.😕

Je serais donc reconnaissantes à ceux qui auraient déjà fait ce trajet sur une journée, de m'indiquer par quels transporteurs ils sont passés, merci!

Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news. I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us? • Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia? • Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)? Hello, I’m heading to Thailand for two weeks at the end of February with my family. I went there 20 years ago. I’d love your thoughts on a relaxed two-week trip that lets me show my kids the joys of travel while also taking time to unwind (after all, it *is* vacation! :)) I’m planning to spend 2 days in Bangkok, then take the overnight train to Chiang Mai (so my kids can experience that) and stay for 2-3 nights. After that, I’ll fly to Phuket for a few nights, then head to Koh Lanta for a few days before returning to Phuket to make my way back to Bangkok for the last two days before departure. Tons of people travel for two weeks during this time—any recommendations? So far, I only have my round-trip flight ticket to Bangkok. Thanks in advance!

So excited to be back on this forum of fellow travel enthusiasts to ask for advice about my upcoming two-week trip to Thailand in March 2026.

Given that it’ll be the start of the intense heat and burning season, I’m wondering about my itinerary, which would focus on the central/southern part of the country.

Ideally, I’d like a mix of relaxation in a nice setting, culture (temples or old palaces), and I’m keeping six days in Bangkok, which I love :)

I’m planning to get around by train, car (through an agency), or plane if it’s easier.

Option 1: HUA HIN – 3/4 days (day trips to PHETCHABURI + SAM ROI YOT + ARTISAN MARKETS) KANCHANABURI – 3/4 days NAKHON PATHOM – 1 day BANGKOK – 6 days

My doubts: -Will the sky be too hazy (from smoke) for good photos? -Will Kanchanaburi and its surroundings be less enchanting during this period (dry landscapes)?

Option 2: PHUKET (4 days): exploring the island + PHANG NGA Bay HUA HIN (3/4 days) BANGKOK (7 days)

My doubts: -How do I get from Phuket to Hua Hin? It seems like flying isn’t an option, and I’d have to take a long trip up the southern coast or return to Bangkok to catch the train. -Is Phuket even remotely pleasant during this ultra-touristy period? -Is Karon a good base for exploring Phuket?

Option 3: PHUKET KAO SOK SURAT THANI? BANGKOK

My doubts: -I’d like to add a destination with beautiful temples in this area, but maybe Surat Thani isn’t the best idea.

Option 4: SURAT THANI >> HUA HIN (6/7 days) BANGKOK

Doubts: -I’m worried this route might be too tiring if I have to move every two days.

I’m open to any tips—or even a completely different itinerary if you have other ideas.

Hi there, During our Thailand trip, we're planning to arrive in Bangkok and then head up to Chiang Mai. So far, so good. But after that, we'd like to go to the islands—either Krabi or Koh Samui. However, the flights listed on 12go.asia seem complicated, with a layover of about 1 hour in Bangkok where we'd have to collect our luggage and check in for the second flight. That feels way too tight.

So, I'd love to hear about your experiences with this route and any tips you might have. Thanks everyone!

Hi there, We're thinking of spending 3 weeks in Koh Samui at the start of 2026. Where can we find accommodation close to a pretty beach that's not too touristy but not isolated either, near a small town or village? We've already been to Surin Beach on Phuket Island. We really liked that spot, but we've heard Koh Samui is great too. Thanks for your tips!

Au milieu de tous ces posts concernant le Coronavirus (lol) je pose par ici une question à laquelle j’ai du mal à trouver une réponse c’est assez compliqué voilà je pars dans deux semaines pour 14j et j’ai déjà décidé des étapes de mon voyage : Arrivée et départ de Bangkok et visite de : Sukhothai / chang mai / chang rai / khao sok / koh muk ( oui ça peut faire beaucoup pour 2 semaines mais j’ai l’habitude de voyager en bougeant beaucoup je préfère) Sachant que j’aimerai faire un trajet en train de nuit pour l’expérience :) Après sinon avion bus.. peu importe

Mais le problème c’est que je n’arrive pas à mettre dans l’ordre ces destinations auriez-vous une idée de ce qu’il serait plus pertinent à visiter en premier ou en dernier (et le top si vous avez une idée du temps à consacrer à chaque étape (oui j’abuse lol )) j’aimerais finir par khao sok car on dit souvent qu’il faut garder le meilleur pour la fin :D Par exemple je ne sais pas s’il est judicieux de faire Sukhothai/chang mai / chang rai avant de redescendre dans le sud sans risquer de faire une overdose de temple et pour le coup de ne pas les apprécier à leur juste valeur...

question bonus est-ce que ça vaut le coup de dormir à Sukhothai ?

Bonjour, Je projette de passer 2-3 jours à Ratchaburi et d'aller voir un marché flottant. J'avais d'abord pensé à Tha Kha qui semble être un marché authentique et peu touristique. Mais comme nous nous déplaçons en transports en commun je me disais qu'Amphawa serait peut-être plus facilement accessible. Mais est-il encore assez préservé? Peut-on comme à Tha Kha faire une petite balade en bateau? Et si vous connaissez les bons plans bus pour se rendre à ces 2 marchés je suis preneuse 😉 Merci beaucoup, Valou
