Hi there, I’m heading to Thailand at the end of June (I know it’s not the best time, but I don’t have a choice) for three and a half weeks, and I’d love your advice on the itinerary. I’d like to visit Koh Lanta, Ko Lipe, Ko Chang, and Ko Kood. What do you think is the ideal order based on the travel logistics? My initial plan was this, after a night in Bangkok to recover from the flight: 1: Flight Bangkok – Krabi, then boat Krabi – Koh Lanta 2: Boat Koh Lanta – Ko Lipe 3: Boat Koh Lanta – Krabi, then flight Krabi – Bangkok, then flight Bangkok – Trat, and finally boat Trat – Ko Chang (quite a long day!) 4: Boat Ko Chang – Ko Kood 5: Boat Ko Kood – Trat, then flight Trat – Bangkok for the return trip.

Is there a better order or a more efficient way to organize this? (For example, starting with Ko Lipe from Hat Yai and then taking a boat to Koh Lanta?) Anyway, thanks in advance for your thoughts and tips, and have a great weekend!

Hi everyone, I know my post might sound a bit repetitive with the questions asked regularly on this forum, but I’m feeling a little lost and thought I’d still ask for your help. Here’s my situation: I’m traveling to Thailand with my wife and 12-year-old son during the February 2025 school holidays. We’ll be spending 12 nights in the country. So far, I only have our flight tickets to and from Phuket. Now, I need to plan an itinerary that lets us discover beautiful places and the culture of this country. I’d like to stay by the sea, with stunning fine-sand beaches and breathtaking landscapes in areas that aren’t too urban, but also be able to see some beautiful monuments, typical villages, and wildlife not too far away. That said, I don’t want to be lost deep in the jungle either—I’d like a bit of atmosphere in the evenings (no nightclubs, but rather nice bars with music). I’ve done some research and here’s a first draft of what I might do:

Spend my first 3 nights in the suburbs of Phuket to explore the city and the province more broadly, Then head to Ko Yao Noi for 2 nights to discover the charms of Phang Nga Bay, Next, fly from Krabi to spend 4 nights on Koh Samui (maybe with a little excursion to Ko Pha Ngan?), Then fly back to Krabi to reach Koh Phi Phi for 2 nights, Finally, return to the Phuket area for my last night in Thailand to be close for my flight the next day.

The idea is to explore several places without having to pack and unpack every day, and to avoid spending hours on transport every day. What do you think? Do the places seem relevant? If so, does the number of nights seem appropriate? Thanks in advance for your help, Best regards, Lionel

During this trip, we want to discover a new culture, beautiful landscapes, eat well, do some beach time (with snorkeling), all while trying to keep it authentic and close to nature.

After some research, I’ve come up with this itinerary—what do you think?

Arrival in Bangkok on Tuesday, July 7 in the morning = 2 days Ayutthaya = 1 day Travel to Chiang Mai = 1 day (flight) Chiang Mai = 2 days Trek = 2 days Travel to Khao Sok = 1 day (flight to Surat Thani + bus) Khao Sok = 3 days (4 nights total) = For this part of the trip, would you recommend staying in Khao Sok village and doing day trips, or planning an overnight stay on the lake? Travel to Koh Phangan = 1 day (bus + ferry) Koh Phangan = 4 days (we’re thinking of staying in the northeast part of the island) Koh Tao = 2 days Return to Bangkok = 1 day (taking a ferry to Chumphon then a flight) Bangkok = 1 day

Je souhaite pendre le bus d'abord de Kachanaburi pour rejoindre la ligne de train Bangkok Chumphon, quel est la meilleur option de gare sur cette ligne pour prendre le train : Ban Pong, rachanburi, où Nakon pathon? J'ai vu qu'il était préférable de reserver ce train, est ce possible par internet où peut on le faire à partir de n'importe quel gare du pays où quand je ferais le trajet Bangkok Kachan en bus quelques jour avant serait il possible de descendre aller reserver à la gare de Ban Pong par exemple? Une fois fois arrivé a chumphon doit ont passer la nuit où est il jouable de faire bus train ferry la même journée?

I’m arriving at Trang Airport in mid-November. What’s the going rate for Pakmeng Pier and then for Koh Mook? Also, what’s the cheapest way to get from Koh Mook to Noppharat Thara (Ao Nang)? After that, I’ll be heading from Railay to Koh Yao Noi. Should I buy tickets from a local agency or at the pier?

Bonjour les voyageurs En pleine organisation et réflexion pour relier Yangoon à Koh Samui: Il y a l'avion bien sur via Bangkok, facile mais couteux. MAIS une autre option est possible: rejoindre Kawthaung en avion (départ Yangoon via Myanmar Airways) traverser la frontière en bateau pour ranong puis rejoindre Koh Samui via le bus (le train? le taxi?) et le ferry. L'un d'entre vous l'a t-il déja pratiqué? Est-il facile de sortir de Birmanie dans cette zone? Des choses à faire à Ranong? Par avance merci pour ce que vous pourrez partager :))

Hi everyone, we’ll be in Thailand from August 2nd to 21st, arriving in Bangkok on the 2nd for a visit. From the 5th to the 8th: Angkor temples. Then, starting on the 9th, we’re planning to head to Chiang Mai, and by the 14th or 15th, we’d like to be on an island until the 19th, when we return to Bangkok. Five days in Chiang Mai seems a bit long to us. What do you recommend between the 9th and 15th, and which island? We’re not big fans of sunbathing—we’d love to snorkel and explore the island. Ideally, I’d have liked to find a house to rent, but every time, I end up with places far from the beach, whereas we’d really like to be able to walk to the beach for strolls. Bonjour, Confinement oblige, j'essaie d'organiser tranquillement mes vacances de l'année prochaine (et oui faut bien s'occuper!). Nous aimerions faire la Thaïlande car par un gros budget mais envie de rêver. Nous avons prévu de partir 15 jours en mars en arrivant à Bangkok, y rester 2 jours puis faire 1 île et revenir sur Bangkok encore 2 jours. Je précise que nous serons 2 adultes et 1 enfant de 5 ans. J'ai fais beaucoup de recherches et je n'arrive pas à me décider sur une île ! Nous aimerions ne pas être gêné par une musique assourdissante, des plages magnifiques mais aussi faire des visites car pas la peine de faire tout ce voyage si c'est juste pour glandouiller sur la plage... Voyageant avec un enfant l'idéal serait de pas trop galerer afin d'accéder à cette île! Je sais j'en demande beaucoup mais il doit bien y avoir une île qui regroupe la plupart de ces critères ! Suite à un premier message posté en décembre et vos précieux avis et conseils (notamment Jungletroll ! merci), j'ai revu notre itinéraire pour le simplifier un peu car premier voyage en Asie...

Je pense également laisser tomber l'idée de louer une voiture de location 🤪 mais plutôt voyager avec un chauffeur privé (sauf Koh Phanga) pour plus de confort et sécurité .... Donc la question est comment organiser cela ? Par une agence ? Connaissez vous Evaneos que je viens de découvrir et qui semble organiser tout sur mesure avec des agents sur place... Je ne me sens pas vraiment capable de tout organiser par moi même et je n'aime pas partir à l'aventure...

Alors voici le nouvel itinéraire prévu sur janvier / février 2021 (avec des dates à la limite "décalable" d'une semaine plus tôt) - Samedi 16/01 : Vol Lyon Dubai (Emirates) - Dimanche 17 et lundi 18/01 : escale Dubai puis vol le 18/01 au soir - Mardi 19/01 : Arrivée aéroport Bangkok le matin - Transfert à Kanchanaburi. au passage : Wat Tham Suea. Fin de journée découverte de la ville et repos - Mercredi 20/01 : Départ pour Sai Yok, arrêt au viaduc de Wang Pho, grotte de Krasae (?) et si possible installation au Krit House au pied de Sai Yok Hai et Lek Waterfal. Fin de journée sur place Jeudi 21/01 : matin Hin Bad Hot Spring ? et route vers Erawan OU monter jusqu'à Sangkhla Buri puis retour à Erawan (mais beaucoup de route il me semble) Vendredi 22/01 : Visite des cascades Erawan le matin et route vers Amphawa pour 2 nuits (si possible installation au bord du Mae Klong pas trop loin du marché flottant. Samedi 23/01 : marché sur les rails de Mae Klong le matin et après-midi, et soirée sur Amphawa Dimanche 24/01 : Départ en direction de Prachuap KK. 3 jours pour visiter cette partie : l'objectif est de prendre un bateau de Chumpon à Koh Phanga le mercredi 27/01 (possiblité via Lomprayah d'un catamaran de Tung Makham à Koh Phanga pour 30 €/pers environ) Sur cette côte, nous voudrions visiter : Sam Roi Yot ( Bang Pu, Grotte de Phraya Nakhon...) , Prachuap KK (Khan Kra Dai Cave, Ao Manao Bay Beach et les singes langurs), Bang Saphan : Phra Mahathat Chedi Phakdee Prakat...

Arrivée mercredi 27/01 à Koh Phanga pour 4 nuits / pas encore regardé ce que nous pouvons organiser sur l'île mais un peu de farniente... jeudi 28 - vendredi 29 et samedi 30/01 : Koh Phangan...Bon je viens de voir qu'il y a une full moon party le 28/01/21 alors que c'est pas du tout ce qui nous intéresse mais je suppose que c'est pas trop génant pour une soirée...

Dimanche 31/01 - Transfert sur Surat Thani et Phang Nga / nuit directement sur ce secteur pour faire une excursion privée dans la baie le lendemain assez tôt pour éviter la foule ! Donc lundi 01/02 : baie de Phang na et installation en fin de journée sur Krabi / Ao Nang ou ailleurs... Installation pour 5 nuits : du mardi au vendredi, visite du secteur Samedi 06/02 : Transfert pour l'aeroport de Phuket et vol retour

Voilà, voilà, en gros avec certains endroits plus détaillés que d'autres en fonction de mes recherches.... La question se pose sur la fin du séjour, après Koh Phangan : chauffeur ou location de voiture car moins de route donc peut-être faisable... D'autre part, comment ça se passe avec un chauffeur privé ? Est-il en mesure de nous emmener voir des endroits auxquels nous n'avons pas forcément connaissance ? Sans être vraiment un guide, va-t-il quand même être en mesure de nous donner quelques infos essentiels ? Nous n'avons pas du tout l'habitude de ce mode de déplacement et avons peu de connaissance sur la culture et les habitudes de la Thailande (mis à part les mises en garde sur la façon de conduire, lol !)

Avez-vous des adresses à nous indiquer qui pourrait nous organiser cet itinéraire ? : je voudrais juste réserver les vols internationaux, voire les hébergements moi-même, mais c'est la partie, tranferts, déplacements, visite qui me posent énormément d'interrogation..

Hello, We’re heading to Thailand for 26 days (excluding flights) next July with our two teens (12 and 15 years old). My husband and I have been there several times before they were born—so that’s 15 years ago—and I’m a bit worried about some of the changes that might have happened since, especially with the rise in tourism... I’d also like to keep a pace that allows us to settle in a bit and enjoy local life beyond just the main sights. Plus, we’re pretty active. For now, our plan looks like this:

Arrival in Bangkok, where we’re thinking of spending several days (minimum 4) Chiang Mai for about a week 2 or 3 islands in the Gulf Return to Bangkok for 2 days before departure.

We’re pretty set on Bangkok and Chiang Mai, but we’re unsure about which islands to visit—I’ve read such mixed things that I’m even wondering if we should consider the coast instead. Organization-wise, I’d love any tips or feedback on whether we need to book in advance at this time of year, which transport options to prioritize (train, bus, or plane), and of course, any suggestions for stops or routes. Bonjour, Nous partons à 2 en Thaïlande en janvier 2020 pour un mois, et j'envisage de partager mon séjour en : 2/3 en Issan et 1/3 de plage. Et j'aurai besoin de vos conseils et avis. Nous sommes allés souvent en Thaïlande, mais jamais en janvier....

-En arrivant à Bangkok de France, j'ai déjà réservé un vol Bangkok/ Loeï afin de rejoindre Chiang Khan le même jour. Je compte rester 5 nuits à Chiang Khan, est ce que c'est correct ou est ce que ce n'est pas trop long ? Y-a-t-il des balades aux alentours( à pied ou en scooter)

-Par la suite je prévois de rejoindre Nong Khaï( que je connais déjà) par la route en longeant le Mékong. Est ce que le transport est facile entre Chiang Khan et Nong Khaï? Bus ? Mini van ? Combien de temps de transport en moyenne ?Est ce que ça vaut le coup de faire une halte d'une nuit quelque part entre ces 2 villes ?

-De Nong Khaï, je veux aller et loger à Bueng Khan pour être assez proche du Wat Phu Tuk. Même question que précédemment...Est ce que les moyens de transport sont faciles et fréquents entre ces 2 villes et combien de temps.. ? Pour rejoindre le site du Wat Phu Tuk je suppose qu'il faut passer par une agence ou un guide ? Doit-on prendre obligatoirement un taxi ?

-De Bueng Khan je prévois de rejoindre Udon Thani en bus ou mini van, Est ce faisable ? J'ai lu qu'il fallait environ 3heures... ? A Udon Thani, est ce que le lac aux lotus rouges vaut le déplacement ? Car j'ai vu qu'il n'est pas tout près.

-D'Udon Thani je voulais aller directement vers Krabi par avion, mais il n'y a que le vol vers Phuket qui arrive à 19h. Donc je dois obligatoirement dormir à Phuket. Quel endroit est le mieux pour passer une nuit afin de rejoindre facilement Ko Lanta par le ferry ? J'ai vu qu'il avait plusieurs compagnies, donc quel ferry est le mieux ? Ou bien vaut-il mieux rejoindre Krabi plutôt que Kho Lanta? Ou rester quelques jours sur Phuket... ?

J'ai lu pas mal d'avis mais je suis encore très indécis pour ces destinations plages de Phuket, Krabi, Kho Lanta et quel serait le meilleur «circuit» sur 10 jours, en arrivant par l'aéroport de Phuket et en repartant de Krabi en sachant que je ne veux pas speeder?

J'avais l'habitude de voyager en Thaïlande en juillet, et pour ceux qui connaissent, ma plage préférée pour juillet , était Thong Nai Pan Noï à Kho Phangan, mais c'est la première fois que je voyage en janvier et donc je ne connais pas du tout Phuket ou Krabi. Est ce qu'il est intéressant de rester quelques jours sur Phuket et si oui, quelle plage.... ? Hors Patong ou Kata... et surtout pas pour faire la fête mais un endroit cool( j'ai compris que janvier était la haute saison.....). J'ai entendu parler de Railey ? Freedom beach ? ou d'autres?

Et pour Kho Lanta et Krabi quel est votre plage préférée....?( qui ressemblerait à Tong Naï Pan Noï...!lol).

Here’s the itinerary I’ve planned for this new trip to Thailand:

Arrival – 2 nights in Bangkok (any hotel recommendations? Very quiet, near Chinatown or by the river)

Train or taxi (which app should I use for Thailand?) to Phetchaburi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations?)

Daytime train to Surat Thani – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Pick up the rental car and head to Khao Sok – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Ko Kho Khao – 3 nights – relaxation (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Phang Nga Bay – 1 night (any base recommendations?)

Excursion in the bay, then drive to Krabi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations) or any other spot with beautiful, quiet beaches that you might know?

Return to Surat Thani – overnight train to Bangkok, then Ayutthaya (any hotel recommendations?)

Visit the site and transfer to the airport – sniff, time to head back!

If you have other suggestions, keeping in mind the trip’s vibe: beach time without crowds or entertainment, a bit of nature, a bit of culture, no stress... No domestic flights and charming accommodations (not at 150 € per night, even though the budget is reasonable!)

Not sure I’ll follow them all, but all your ideas are welcome! 😉

Ça fait un moment que je ne suis pas retourné sur le coin et je m'interroge sur la régularité/ponctualité des trajets : une arrivée à l'aéroport 1h avant le vol, est-ce suffisant ?

Une des compagnies (Lomprayah, Rajah, Phantip) est-elle plus fiable qu'une autre ?

On Koh Phangan, I’d like to stay on the west/northwest side of the island (Koh Ma? Haad Khom?) Could you let me know what the water level is like there? Will we be able to swim during this period? And if you have any beach/hotel recommendations for Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, that’d be great! Thanks!

Bonjour, nous arrivons à Koh Samui le 15 mars . Nous ne connaissons pas cette partie de la Thaïlande. A la base, il était prévu 4 jours sur Samui et une semaine sur Koh Tao. Réflexion faite, autant également visiter Koh Phangan. Ce qui est sûr c’est que nous arrivons à Koh Samui et que nous y resterons qq jours. Après, faut il commencer par Koh Phangan et finir par Koh Tao, ou le contraire, et comment répartir les 11 jours dont nous disposons, ou faire l’impasse sur une île ou n’y consacrer qu’uNe excursion ? Je précise que je n’ Ai pas envie ni le temps de visiter chaque île de fond en comble. Ces qq jours nous permettent d’avoir une approche globale. Nous aimons prendre notre temps en vacances. We’re planning our second trip to Thailand (2 weeks on-site, late April/early May) as a family with our 5- and 7-year-olds.

On our first trip, we visited Bangkok, Ayutthaya, the River Kwai, Koh Lipe, Koh Phi Phi, and Khao Lak. We especially loved Koh Phi Phi for its limestone cliffs and lush vegetation, as well as Koh Lipe for its crystal-clear waters and snorkeling.

This time, I’m thinking of spending 7 days on the islands. I was considering Koh Tao and Koh Phangan. We’d like some scenery, snorkeling right from the beach, and a bit of atmosphere—but not too much (just enough to grab dinner in the evening).

For the other part of the trip, we’re torn between Chiang Mai and Khao Sok. One or the other… or both? We don’t want to rush, but we’re really nature-focused, so we won’t be hitting too many temples…

My husband and I are heading to Thailand with our two boys on July 8th. We’ll be moving around: Bangkok (3 nights), Ayutthaya (1 night), Chiang Mai (4 nights), Koh Samui (4 nights), and Koh Phangan (3 nights). We have a flight from Koh Samui to Bangkok in the afternoon the day before our return to France, arriving around 5 PM in Bangkok (it’ll be a Friday). I’m still wondering where to stay in Bangkok for this last night in Thailand. Initially, I thought about booking a hotel near the international airport, but I figured there might not be much to do there... maybe we’ll want one last crowd-filled night at a food market? So, I considered booking a hotel near the metro instead, for easy access to the airport the next morning, while still being central enough to go out for our last evening before heading back to France.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this :-) And if you lean toward the second option, which neighborhood/hotel would you recommend?

Le ministère du tourisme étudie une ouverture aux touristes étrangers à partir d’août donc plus tôt que prévue, septembre/octobre initialement. Ça concernerait 5 îles seulement pour commencer et avec un nombre limité de touristes. Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan et Koh Tao.

Pour ceux qui transiteraient à Bangkok, interdiction de sortir de l'aéroport et correspondance dans la foulée.

I’m heading back to Thailand soon, and from what I’ve been reading, it seems some beaches/islands are infested with these dreaded sandflies!

I’ve noted the remedy: rub the bitten area with 90% alcohol, then apply soothing cream.

But prevention is better than cure!

Which areas should I avoid right now?

Are there seasons that are more prone to these itchy invasions than others?

I’ve already stayed in Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Krabi, and Phuket without any issues like this.

I’d love to keep it that way...

Nous partons ma famille et moi au mois de mars en thailande. Nous souhaiterions faire le temple de cristal wat tha sung qui se trouve au nord d'Ayutthaya dans la province de Uthai Thani. Est il possible de faire la visite d'ayutthaya et le temple wat tha sung dans la meme journée? sachant que le temple ferme à 16h.
