Here’s my account of our trip to Thailand with my partner from November 22 to December 5, 2025.
First off, I’d like to wish all Voyageforum.com users a very happy 2026, full of happiness and amazing discoveries on your travels!
It’s thanks to the tips I gathered on this site that I planned the trip.
We traveled with Malaysia Airlines (the flight price was great, but no movies in French, not even subtitled) because we wanted to explore Kuala Lumpur and visit southern Thailand.
Our departure from Roissy was delayed because the plane had to go through the robotic de-icing trucks—pretty impressive!
After a 12-hour flight, we arrived at the beautiful Kuala Lumpur airport around 7 AM.
Don’t forget to fill out the immigration form requested by Malaysia 3 days before arrival.
We left without any issues and took the Klia Ekspress train to KL Sentral station (30 minutes, 10 €).
We’d booked accommodation in a tower near the station and had to communicate with the landlord to get the keys.
But while we thought there’d be Wi-Fi at the station, there wasn’t—we asked the tourism office, and they said there wasn’t any. We didn’t want to buy a local SIM card since we were leaving the next day.
Eventually, we went to a Starbucks to get online, but just as we decided to head to our place, a torrential downpour hit, and we couldn’t find a sidewalk to reach our destination.
We went back to the station, took the elevated metro, and finally made it to our landlord and the room on the 45th floor.
When I run searches on Skyscanner, I see that only Lufthansa has flights to Seoul with just one stop. Air France doesn’t show up, even though I thought the French airline served Seoul?
I can’t even log into the Air France website—it keeps glitching.
Hi there,
Do you have any recommendations for comfortable accommodation in Leyva and Barichara? We're also looking for a guide to explore the areas around these two towns (parks, waterfalls, etc.).
Thanks for your tips!
I applied for a passport renewal at the beginning of November, and my town hall told me it would take about a month to get it. However, I still haven’t received it, and it’s been over a month now.
When I checked the ANTS website to track my passport application, I saw that its status changed to "In production" on November 27th. Today is December 18th, and I still haven’t heard anything about receiving it, even though I’ve read everywhere that once the status is "In production," it usually takes about a week to get the passport.
I’m starting to worry about not having received it yet...
Do you know what the current processing time is after it reaches "In production" in 2025?
Is there a risk that the passport was made but lost in transit?
I’m concerned because I have a trip planned for 2026—admittedly not until April, so there’s still time in theory—but my application seems to be stuck.
Either way, I’ll contact the town hall soon, though I don’t think they’ll have more information...
I'm about to rent a self-drive 4x4 in Mongolia. Has anyone heard of GOBI.RENT?
Otherwise, do you have any tips for checking this company since there's no info on their website (e.g., registration number on the RCS)?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for a list that groups the distance between the airport (or train station) and the cruise port for each city where we might embark or disembark.
Anyone know of a site?
Thanks
have a great day
Hi there, we’ll be in Portugal from March 9 to April 14, 2026. We’ve booked our first five days in Lisbon for sightseeing. After that, we’d like to rent a campervan (RV), but we’re having trouble finding a good site for the rental. The rental would be for about three weeks. Do you have any suggestions for us? We think it’s best to book the campervan before we arrive. And since we’re not mechanics, we need a vehicle in good condition...
Thanks so much for your suggestions. We’re open to everything—even route ideas and places to visit!

Leaving on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from Montpellier: I’m taking the train with my bike and panniers to Nice for the evening ferry departure to Porto Torres in Sardinia.
Nice is gorgeous.
After our amazing experience in the Lofoten Islands in summer 2023, I suggested to Jean Marie another trek I’d been wanting to do for a long time: the Skye Trail in Scotland.
A few photos of this stunning island and he was sold and ready to go.
The route is available on the excellent WalkHighlands site HERE (there’s also a Cicerone guide on the subject).
And since I thought it was a shame it avoided the Black Cuillins, I added a 3-day detour in that area.
We took advantage of the May bank holidays in 2024, partly to avoid the peak tourist season and also the midge period—because for some reason, mosquitoes love me 😠!!
27/04 – Day 1 – Transfer to Skye and start of the trek: Rubha Hunish - Flodigarry
28/04 – Day 2 – Flodigarry – just before the Old Man of Storr
29/04 – Day 3 – Old Man of Storr – Portree, then bus to Sligachan
30/04 - Day 4 - Sligachan - Glenbrittle campsite via the Fairy Pools
01/05 – Day 5 – Round trip to Sgùrr na Banachdich from Glenbrittle campsite
02/05 – Day 6 – Round trip to Coire Lagan and walk on the Rubh an Dùnain peninsula
03/05 – Day 7 – Return (hitchhiking) to Sligachan campsite and hike in the Red Cuillins
04/05 – Day 8 – Resuming the Skye Trail – Sligachan – Elgol
05/05 – Day 9 – Elgol – Somewhere on the climb to Bla Bheinn
06/05 – Day 10 – Somewhere on the climb to Bla Bheinn - Broadford
07/05 – Day 11 – Visit to the Armadale Castle and park
08 & 09/05 – Return to Glasgow, visit the city, and return flight
And here’s the summary
I’m heading to Rome soon and wanted to book my tickets for the Colosseum.
I found the official site, but I don’t understand when it’s possible to make a reservation.
Apparently, it’s 30 days in advance for the underground tour since everything is already booked up for the next 30 days...
But what about the Colosseum + Arena visit? The site shows tickets for the next 7 days, but nothing after that.
Are tickets released just a week in advance for this combo, not 30 days?
Good evening,
I’m planning a solo bike road trip along the EuroVelo 6, starting from Orléans all the way to Budapest, beginning May 1st, 2026!
Question: Have any of you used the Warmshowers site, and if so, I’d love to hear your thoughts on using this app—whether responses to hosting requests are generally satisfying, especially for the different countries I’ll be crossing!
Thanks in advance for your tips!
Philippe
Hi everyone here who loves cycling,
I’m planning a 5-week trip next January in Uganda: a little tour of 1,200 to 1,500 km crossing the most beautiful spots and reserves in the country. Route to be defined together.
I’m looking for someone to join me.
Hi there,
I just booked a round-trip flight from Brussels to Da Nang on eDreams, with a layover in Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific. Does anyone know the check-in procedure for these flights?
1) For flight CX294 BXL-HKG, I’ll need to check in on the Cathay Pacific website,
2) For the next flight CX5552 HKG-DAD, what should I do? I only have a 2h25 layover. Will I need to collect my luggage, go through immigration, and then recheck in at the airport counter, etc.?
I’m pretty worried about this layover—I thought check-in could be done on the airline’s website and that my luggage would be transferred automatically during the layover, like with most other airlines...
Thanks so much for any help from those who’ve been in this situation!
I’m applying for an O-A Visa from France, and they’re asking for a criminal record extract.
In the site’s FAQ, there’s a question that interests me: "I want to present my criminal record extract to the administration of another European Union state. What do I need to provide?" But when I click for the answer, I get a "404 error"... of course 🤪.
My questions are simple:
- Is it really the "extrait n°3" that’s required for the O-A Visa application?
- Do I need to have it translated into English?
For the past two months, I’ve been checking flight ticket prices to spend 4.5 weeks in Thailand from early July to early August. I’m traveling from Brussels with a young child, so I want to avoid layovers. That’s why I’m only looking at Thai Airways’ website and only choosing direct flights.
At the end of August, I saw tickets for 955 € per person.
On October 1st, they were 1,225 €.
Today (October 22nd), the price is the same as on October 1st. (Same dates: Departure: July 4th, Return: August 7th.)
My question is: Is it possible these prices will drop significantly in the coming months?
Note: I clear my browser cache before every search, which I always do during the week and in the evening. This time, I also checked with my work computer, which has a VPN. So, the price isn’t influenced by cookies.
Hi,
I’m planning a trip to Australia—Paris to Melbourne.
I’m flying with Etihad and have a 1-hour connection in Abu Dhabi.
Does that seem doable to you?
Thanks for your feedback and experiences!
This journal recounts a trip to Rajasthan that’s already over a year old and that I’m only now getting around to writing up. The summer of 2024 marked my return to India—my tenth trip—after six long years away since my last solo wanderings in Tamil Nadu back in 2018 (the journal for which is published on this site).
Hi there,
I need to book a flight from Saigon to Roissy with a layover in Hong Kong.
The layover is only 1h10, so I’m wondering what happens if there’s a delay (it’s a very short connection) and I can’t catch the next flight—what are the extra costs involved?
I can’t find the info on their website.
Could anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks in advance
Hi there, I’ll be in Chile in 15 days, and I just found out I need to register my mobile phone on the multibanda site. Can I do this before I leave, or do I have to wait until I’m in Chile? Thanks for your help!
I’m looking to rent a car when I arrive in Los Angeles for 18 days.
1) I was planning to bring the booster seat for my 5-year-old son and not rent one on-site. Am I still complying with the law?
2) Since there are only two of us in the car, my main goal is price. Which rental agency or website have you tried and recommend?
3) Is it true that for the same rental company, it’s cheaper to pick up the car a bit farther from LAX? For example, Hertz has several locations nearby. Apparently, there’s less selection, but I don’t care about that—I just want the cheapest option.
Hi,
I’m traveling to New Zealand in January 2026 with Lufthansa.
To check the allowed baggage dimensions, I went to my "booking" account on the Lufthansa website.
And that’s when I discovered that my last layover, the Zurich-Bordeaux flight operated by Swiffairlines, was canceled. I never received an email, and even worse, it’s not even noted on my booking.
So I contacted Lufthansa. They told me that for now, there are no other flights but that there will be by the time I leave.
They advised me to call them every week to get a flight.
What do you think of their response?
Has this ever happened to you?
Emilie
Hi there,
I’d like to go hiking in the Gargano massif but I don’t drive.
What would be the ideal spot, accessible by public transport, to stay and hit the trails?
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to visit Monument Valley next Saturday after 3 days at the Grand Canyon. I saw on navajonationparks.org that some roads can be tricky during rainy periods. Is anyone there right now who could tell me what the road conditions are like in the park and whether it’s impassable with a regular rental car?
Thanks so much in advance,
Ruby
Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?
I understand we need to book online rather than on-site.
Thanks in advance for your replies!
Hi everyone,
For traveling in Rajasthan by train and bus, could you give me some info: where to buy tickets, cost, purchase locations, websites, etc.?
Any tips you have would be super helpful.
Thanks
We’re traveling to Java on October 23, just the two of us.
I’ve read that it’s best to book train tickets in advance on tiket.com.
Is that true, and how far ahead do you recommend?
Are the tickets changeable?
