Airport transfer in Bogota
by Skeeter21 · 2025-11-06 · 5 replies
Hi everyone, I just got back from a trip to Colombia and wanted to share my experience with you—maybe it’ll help some of you out. I met a French guy living in Bogota who offers airport transfer services, so you can arrive with total peace of mind and confidence. He’s really friendly, punctual, and can even drive you around for your sightseeing trips in Bogota. He’s just starting out, and I promised I’d mention him, so here it is! Have a great day.
San Andrés (or alternative?) in October
by Koinkoin90 · 2025-10-19 · 1 reply
Hey there!

I only found two really old discussions on this topic, and the links are dead, so here’s a new thread.

I’m getting back from Bahía Solano this Saturday and haven’t planned anything from the 25th (I’ll be in Medellín). I’m traveling with my 9-year-old son… and I figure, if we’re gonna get caught in the rain here, we might as well do it somewhere nice… I’m thinking about spending a week or so in the archipelago, but I can’t really tell what the weather’s like this time of year—is it just a few showers here and there, with life going on as usual, and we can still swim, snorkel between rain, read quietly… or is it really non-stop downpours?

Any cool alternatives you’d recommend?
Visiting Cocora Valley or Carbonera Valley?
by Margouya · 2025-10-14 · 2 replies
Hi everyone! I’m heading to Colombia in January 2026 and have a few questions. In Salento, which is better to do—Cocora Valley or Carbonera Valley? After that, I want to fly from Medellín to Rincón del Mar. Is there an airport in Tolú? I can’t find any info. Thanks in advance, and *buen viajé* to all! Kristian
Spiders and snakes during a trip to Colombia – arachnophobia and ophidiophobia concerns
by Titere · 2025-07-24 · 7 replies
Hi everyone, I know arachnophobes will get why I’m asking this: is it reasonable to hope to travel for a month in this country without running into a tarantula? And a follow-up question—since I’m traveling with a friend who’s terrified of seeing a snake—do you often come across reptiles? Thanks in advance for your answers!
3-Week Itinerary in Colombia This Summer
by Rambaud20 · 2025-06-02 · 3 replies
Hi there, We’re heading to Colombia for 3 weeks from the 9th to the 29th. Here’s the itinerary we’ve planned: Week 1 – Bogotá, mountains, hike in Páramo de Ocetá (8 nights) August 9: Arrival in Bogotá (1 night) August 10–12: Villa de Leyva (2 nights) August 12–14: Monguí + Páramo de Ocetá (2 nights) August 14–17: Barichara (3 nights) Week 2 – Authentic coffee region: Jericó, Pijao, Buenavista (6 or 7 nights) August 18–20: Jericó (2 nights) August 20–21: Salento Hike in La Carbonera August 21–24: Pijao (3 nights)

For the last week, we’re torn between: -The Pacific Coast – Nuquí/Jurubidá (5 or 6 nights) -The Caribbean Coast – Cartagena + Rincón del Mar / Bahía de Cispatá or Tayrona

We’re traveling with our 20-month-old baby, who’s used to traveling and handles transportation and hikes really well. We plan to rent a car and take domestic flights to get around easily.

We’re looking for a trip a bit off the beaten tourist path and would love your thoughts and recommendations on the itinerary and the final options. Caribbean or Pacific? Is Tayrona crowded? Is the park really worth the detour, or is the Pacific coast just as beautiful and wild?

Transport questions in Colombia (buses and taxis)
by Bableux · 2025-04-08 · 12 replies
Hi there, We’re planning a month-long (or longer) trip to Colombia next February. We’re thinking of getting around by bus or taxi. For part of the trip, we’ve decided to start in Bogotá, then head to Villa de Leyva, then Barichara and the Chicamocha Canyon, and finally arrive in Bucaramanga to catch a flight to Medellín. If bus routes aren’t available, is it easy to find taxis in the villages or at hotels? Thanks for your tips!

Overnight buses in Colombia
by Himalaya2 · 2024-12-18 · 2 replies
Hi, I read on a blog that for long overnight trips, there’s a "cama" category and even "cama VIP". I’m planning a Santa Marta/Bucaramanga route, but I can’t find this option on the bus company websites. Has anyone already done this route, and under what conditions? Thanks for your feedback!
Feedback on the boat trip to Tayrona Park (Colombia)
by Djackx67 · 2024-12-14 · 1 reply
Hi there, I just wanted to warn those who want to reach the beaches of Tayrona Park by lancha. If you're not a fan of thrills or prone to seasickness, opt for the car instead. We did this 40-minute lancha trip to Playa Cristal, with rough seas and huge waves that nearly capsized the boat several times. And we arrived at Playa Cristal completely soaked—though that wasn’t too bad, really...

Anyway, the beaches and the park are amazing.
Accommodations in Tayrona Park (Colombia)
by Himalaya2 · 2024-12-12 · 1 reply
Hi, I’d love to spend a night in the park to enjoy it without rushing, but I’m shocked by the prices and the poor quality of the accommodations I’ve found on Booking. Are there any other more reasonable options on-site (aside from tents and hammocks, which aren’t for us...)? Also, is it risky not to book ahead for a trip in March? Thanks for your feedback!

Looking for buddies to surf and travel in January-February 2025
by Thomasit · 2024-11-17 · 0 replies
Hey surfers, hey everyone,

I’m looking for a partner to hit the waves and share some great moments. The location doesn’t matter to me, as long as there are uncrowded surf spots. I’m thinking, for example, of the Pacific coast in Colombia or some lesser-known islands in Indonesia. I’ve already visited several quiet spots, but always solo. This time, I’d love to share the experience with someone.

I’m open to any destination and happy to adapt if you have ideas or preferences. Ideally, I’m looking for someone with an intermediate level or higher. I’m not an expert surfer, but I can handle intermediate spots and sometimes more challenging ones. If you’re more experienced, that’d be perfect—I’d love to learn from you and improve.

For languages, I speak English and Spanish, so no problem communicating! I’m keen to leave around mid-January or early February for about 2-3 weeks. A pure surf trip, with lots of fun along the way.

If you’re interested, feel free to suggest ideas or drop me a message. Can’t wait to hear your proposals! !
Looking for travel companion(s) for Colombia this winter
by Loane1 · 2024-11-07 · 2 replies
Hello, I’m looking for someone—or why not form a small, easygoing, cheerful group of people aged 60 or over—to travel to Colombia this winter. My preferred dates are around December 12th through February (flexible). I’d like to head north, or even further if we have time. I travel with a suitcase, taking it easy in mid-range hotels, Airbnbs, or better depending on prices and local transport—buses, trains, taxis, etc. Anyone interested? Gentlemen are welcome as long as they’re not looking for a romantic adventure—you’ve been warned! ;) I live in Bordeaux. Françoise
Low season dates in Colombia

Hi there, we’re heading to Colombia from mid-January to mid-February 2025 and we’d love to visit the Tierradentro and San Agustín sites in February. We’ve heard these sites are closed on Tuesdays during the low season—but when exactly *is* the low season? We need to plan our bus routes. Thanks in advance! Anne
