Hi everyone,

We’re a group of 5 heading to the Everest Base Camp trek in early April. We won’t have a porter or guide—we’re used to hiking independently and have already done the Langtang trek and the Annapurna Circuit (back in 2003!).

I’d love to know if it’s necessary to book lodges in advance or if we’ll easily find availability during this busy season. Also, will we find lodges all along the route between the main stopover villages, or only in those villages? I remember there were plenty everywhere on the Annapurna Circuit. We want to stay as flexible as possible.

Hello and happy New Year to everyone, A friend and I are interested in going to South Africa (or Kenya) for about two weeks (last quarter of 2026) but without renting a car. Generally, I don’t like organized trips for the entire duration of a trip, and what’s more, this destination is very expensive. So, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to spend, for example, a week in Cape Town independently and take day trips with a local agency, then do a week-long circuit for a safari in a park, which would leave a bit of freedom to book flights and maybe get advice from local agencies. Is this a good idea? Is it doable or not? What do you think? Have any travelers done this kind of trip? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Dominique

Hi there! We’re planning to head back to Istanbul next year—obviously by plane—and then take the train from Istanbul to Antalya. Has anyone here already made this trip by train with TCDD? I’d love any tips or info that could be useful for us!

We’re crossing New Zealand next April and we’re wondering which to choose between exploring Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. The first is more well-known, famous, and popular, a UNESCO natural heritage site, while the second can be just as spectacular—bigger, harder to access, and less touristy. Thanks for your thoughts!

I’m considering Cape Verde for an upcoming trip, but I’m wondering if it’s really doable, and if so, which areas would work. We prefer traveling on our own without going through agencies, and without a car to keep costs down. However, since we’re traveling with a baby and a young child, we don’t want to rely on the "usual tricks" like sleeping in a tent, hitchhiking, or walking for kilometers on end. Our walking limit is probably around 4 km max with the little one. Are there enough interesting spots where we can easily see and do things from a central point, walking no more than 4 km? Places with frequent buses to reach activities or sights?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to spend about 9 days in Sweden (round trip to Stockholm) in July (without a car, most likely). We’d like to spend 4 or 5 days in Stockholm to really enjoy it. For the rest of the trip, I’m struggling to find good ideas. I’ve seen the Gullmar Fjord or small towns like Kjallbacka or Lysekil, or even the Bohuslän cliffs, but on various travel sites, they don’t mention whether it’s easy to get around, if there are excursions, or what transport options are available. Hi there, I’m traveling to Denmark this July with my three boys, aged 12, 14, and 17. I’d like to plan a little cycling trip and I’m thinking of doing the Copenhagen–Malmö route via Helsingborg. The idea is to take our time and stop along the way based on points of interest or for a swim if the weather allows. I have a few questions: - How many days should we plan for? 2, 3, or 4? - What are the recommended stopover towns? - What are the points of interest along the way? - Do we need to take a ferry for the Helsingør–Helsingborg stretch? Hi, Like every summer, I’m looking for a (not too distant) destination to cycle with my family for about 3 weeks. I’m drawn to the EuroVelo 1 route in Portugal. Do any of you have information to share? Are there sections that are more or less difficult? Routes that are more or less safe? I’ve been thinking about an Antarctica trip for a while now and it really appeals to me, but I’m not sure how to start my research. First off, is it better to leave from Chile or Argentina (assuming we’re not departing from France)? Is it more reassuring to travel on a large ship or a medium-sized one? What aspects should I check (total number of days, number of excursions, well-known vs. lesser-known companies, local agencies, etc.)? What are the must-sees I shouldn’t miss, and what’s unnecessary? Hello, I’m looking for a retailer that carries the Morocco maps by Huber Kartographie, from the *marokko-erfahren* collection at 1/120,000 scale. I’ve found most of them at Le Vieux Campeur and La Compagnie des Cartes, but I’m missing the following sheets: J13 / N10 / 012, and neither of these retailers can supply them. Online, I only ever find the maps I already own, not these specific numbers. Could any of you point me in the right direction? Or maybe recommend another collection? Even with a GPS, I always prefer paper maps—they’re so much more "expressive." Thanks! Dominique

My partner and I are planning our 18-day trip to Costa Rica, and we’re thinking of renting a car. After reading so much about Costa Rica, we’re feeling a bit overwhelmed with information. We love hiking and wildlife but aren’t big fans of crowds. Corcovado Park seems like a stunning and less crowded spot, but it’s not the easiest to access. Is it worth going all that way to visit, and if so, do you have any recommendations for where to stay and which entrance to use? Thanks so much!

I'm looking for info on the route between Imilchil and Tabant—is it a dirt track, and what condition is it in? Any paved roads? We’ll have a 4x4. My GPS shows a track that would connect Imilchil directly to the Cathedral of Rocks (near Tilougguite), without taking the big detour via the R 306. I can’t find this track on any map. How long should we allow for the trip between Imilchil and Tabant? Is this route doable year-round? Are there any wadi crossings?

Je suis à la retraite depuis novembre 2019. Je mets ce temps libre à profit pour (entre autre) compiler notes et photos prises ces dernières années pendant nos vadrouilles autour du monde. Ça date un peu, mais devrait conserver son intérêt, le plupart des endroits visités restent accessibles de la même façon qu'alors.

Le réveil à 3h30 est un moment extrêmement pénible. C’est pas du tout dans mes plages horaires ! Mais il fallait bien ça ! On va se rendre compte au long des interminables files d’attente que de monter dans cet avion avant 6 heures va devenir un challenge qui va très vite me mettre sous tension! Ensuite, il n’y a plus qu’à s’affaler sur son fauteuil avec un bon casque sur les oreilles, à écouter de la musique, tout en jetant un coup d’œil au splendide lever du soleil qui déverse ses teintes de rouge jusque sur les parois de l’appareil…



A Majorque, c’est une longue attente de plus de quatre heures, avant de prendre le vol pour Minorque. C’est long ! Sans dire que l’administration aéroportuaire s’est distribuée le budget « chaises » pour s’offrir le tout dernier 4*4 de chez Porsche !



On arrive enfin à destination. Quand l’avion atterrit, il est 14 heures, l’atmosphère est sombre. Dominique et moi, on se regarde, les hublots sont constellés de petites bulles d’eau…Il pleut. Des trombes ! Il fait froid… Ambiance !



La voiture de chez Herz est une voiture complètement neuve avec GPS et surtout un connecteur MP3. Ça suffit tout à fait à me consoler ! En remontant vers le nord, on s’aperçoit qu’au fil du trajet le climat change complètement. Au nord il fait beau ! L’hôtel est une ancienne ferme retapée à neuf.



La chambre qu’on nous propose nous laisse cependant dubitatifs. Sans savoir trop pourquoi. Probablement l’absence de balcon. On décide d’aller négocier. Et ça marche. L’upgrade est spectaculaire, la chambre est superbe!



En fait, c’est un petit appartement. Il y a même une cuisine.



La mer est à 2km500. On décide de les faire à pied. On arrive au petit village qui entoure la Cala Morell. Les maisons sont toutes blanches. Même les toits. Il n’y a aucune exception et c’est assez joli…



Nous n’avons pas mangé de la journée, alors, quand le patron du resto qui donne sur la plage nous annonce qu’il ferme ses cuisines à 17 heures, soit dans cinq minutes, on se laisse immédiatement embarquer pour un dîner. Une nourriture oubliable, un vin qui pique, mais dans un décor grandiose…

Je suis a la recherche d idées pour le mois de janvier, peut être 2 semaines en Martinique puis Sainte lucie 1 semaine, pourquoi pas St Vincent 1 semaine ou autres choses.Nous recherchons des belles plages, quelques visites, restaurants pour le soir, le prendre cool sur peut être 2 mois.
