J'ai une dizaine de cartons de matériel médical (gants, sondes diverses, champs operatoires, cathéters etc...) Tout est stérile et en parfait état Je précise pour rassurer les septiques que tout le matériel a été récupéré de façon légale dans l hopital où je travaille ! Avant je donnais tout au médecin de l ambassade de Cuba qui se chargeait du transport mais ils ne veulent plus s en occuper J'ai envoyé des mails à diverses associations, je n ai meme pas eu une réponse!!!!(ces memes associations qui écrivent sur leur page d accueil qu ils envoient des dons !!!!!!!!!!!!!!)En fait quand je les appelle la réponse est toujours la meme "ha non le transport est trop cher!!" alors QUI veut mes cartons?????

J'ai passé 2 mois passionnant sur la route entre l'Alsace et l'Iran....Je suis rentré voici 2 jours et le contraste est frappant

Dès mon arrivée à l'aéroport de Strasbourg, j'ai été remis dans l'ambiance lepeno-sarkosiste si en vogue dans notre beau pays. Pour la douane, c'était jour de fête: un journaliste et un photographe s'étaient déplacés pour écrire un bel article de propagande dans le journal local....Leur minute de gloire donc! Pour faire de belles photos, ils ont donc fouillé systématiquement les bagages....enfin presque, et c'est bien le problême! Après avoir attendu une bonne heure que mon sac apparaisse sur le tapis roulant, je suis allé me placer à l'arrière de la file dans le but de me faire poliment (il y avait la presse) vider mes bagages....La personne devant moi me dit de passer: "C'est bon, vous pouvez passer vous!". Je ne comprends pas tout de suite....Puis d'autre me pressent de passer le contrôle....Je vais donc demander au beau douanier où je dois faire la queue. Il me réponds simplement: "Ah, mais VOUS, c'est bon, pas besoin de vous controler, VOUS pouvez passer"....Je comprends enfin: Je suis blond aux yeux bleu.Dans l'avion venant d'Istambul, la plupart des gens sont turcs ou surtout d'origine turc. Et cela semble les destiner à la contrebande plus que moi, bon français pure souche. Quel choc de voir l'humiliation dont sont victimes toutes ces personnes. Mais quelle bêtise de ces petits douaniers: mon sac était rempli de tabac, de tapis et de caviar.....je me marre!

Vous rajoutez à cela les questions du genre: Mais CES GENS LA (iraniens, turcs...), Ils vont à l'écoles??Ah bon, il y a des bus LA-BAS ???Et ta barbe, c' est un souvenir d'Iran etc....

Et le temps pourri aussi, et l'humeur grise de mes compatriotes (et oui, la croissance ne repart pas, c'est la crise!)...Mais qu'est-ce que je rigole, en Iran, les filles crèvent de chaud car elles sont obligées par les mollahs de porter le Tchador.....et ici elles crèvent de froid car elles sont obligées par les médias (plus insidieusement) de ne porter presque rien!!!

Heureusement, je retrouve mon piano.......

J'organise une nouvelle rencontre VF dans le coin de Montréal (en fait dans les Laurentides juste au nord) pour la fin de semaine du 2-3 juillet. Plusieurs d'entre vous seront en congé le 1er juillet alors devrais-je dire pour la longue fin de semaine!

Je vous propose une formule un peu différente... le camping!

Je connais un camping "sauvage" à Labelle, tout à coté de la rivière rouge. C'est fort sympathique, il y a des terrains isolés parmi les pins, de beaux petits sentiers et l'auto est quand meme pas trop loin au besoin. Un site de feu de camp commun pour faire un gros feu le soir, des tipis (habitations indiennes) pour ceux qui aimeraient tenter l'expérience. Dans la journée? La piste cyclable du petit train du nord passe à coté, possibilité de vélo. Le village du Mont Tremblant avec ses pistes de roller, de vélo, lacs, pédalo, attractions touristiques est à 15 minutes... La rivière rouge à coté où c'est possiblie de louer des kayaks et canots ou descente en "trippe" (comme un pneu). Je crois qu'on aurait notre lot d'activités!! Et bien sur, jaser voyage, faire des feux de camps, gratter la guitare, manger des marshmallow, etc!!!

C'est un camping pour des tentes, pas de camping-car... 🤪 C'est pas très grand, je devrai réserver d'avance. J'aimerais savoir s'il y a des intéressés. Si vous voulez venir 1 ou 2 journées au lieu de toute la fin de semaine, ca peut etre possible aussi.

Je me propose pour l'organisation du co-voiturage et pour les tentes... Donc si vous etes intéressé, répondez-moi et me dire d'où vous venez, si vous avez une voiture, les dates que vous y serez et si vous avez une tente (et que vous acceptez des vfistes dans votre tente).

Ce email se veut une entrée en matière pour savoir si c'est possible à organiser ou si je me lance dans le vide... Ca ne vous engage à rien. Par contre, quand j'aurai vos réponses et que je commencerai l'organisation, vous devrez me confirmer et faire un dépot pour le terrain de camping et le co-voiturage.

Bon, on en parle à mots couverts mais comme on ne peut plus se passer les uns des autres, je mets en ligne la future rencontre du mois de décembre afin que tout le monde en prenne bien connaissance et que cette fois ci on batte tous les records de participation ...... on peut le faire, on est nombreux sur la région, allez on table sur une cinquantaine de personnes ..... 🤪 c'est trop, non je suis sur que l'on peut y arriver et justement ça s'organise ......

Je propose comme celà sera juste avant les fêtes, une soirée au Baroque à St Laurent du Var, dîner spectacle avec quelques numéros super, je me souviens d'une bonne soirée là bas, et on peut même danser ensuite ...... on peut aussi faire un premier rendez vous dans l'aprés midi, plus calme, pour discuter ..... lieu à trouver, et un after aprés ..... suivez moi, je connais toutes les adresses pour s'éclater ...... 😉

Cependant voila ce qui me trotte dans la tete depuis quelque mois et qui m'est apparu comme une qasi-necessite cet apres midi lors d'une ballade en foret. J'habite pres d'un fleuve, ca peu paraitre bete comme ca mais sur un fleuve y a des bateaux qui remontent et des fleuves y en a partout. Hier je bouquinais quelque chose sur l'Alaska et je me suis rendu compte qu'il y a quelques milliers de kilometres ou la cote n'est accessible que par bateau ou hydravion.

Je ne veux pas parler de voyage en hydravion, mais bien en bateau...

Je m'appercois de plus en plus des avantages immenses: Pas d'avion cher qui pollue L'acces (je me demande d'ailleurs dans quelles mesures???) a la plupart des pays (peut etre pas le tibet), et a l'interieur des terres graces aux reseaux fluviales! Pas de loyers(ou du moins que du gardiennage) et le choix (en temps et en lieu) de rester ou pas. La possibilite d'explorer les pays plus a l'interieur des terres avec un point fixe quand meme! Tu peux passer ta vie en voyage et avoir quelques affaires a toi. (En effet apres quatre ans ou ma vie tient dans un sac a dos, il y a toujours plein de choses que tu abandonnes (musique, livre, outils, etc...)) Et surtout le plaisir (et ca je me l'imagine deja si bien que ca fait battre mon p'tit coeur version chiot de six semaines), le plaisir, donc, que dis je ? La jouissance de se reveiller apres quelques semaines ou quelques mois a decouvrir un pays et de te dire qu'est ce que je fais aujourd'hui???

Tiens et si je mettais les voiles pour aller voir ce qui se passe chez le voisin???

Je vais me prendre un petit dej au cafe des pecheurs (qui doit avoir un equivalent dans a peu pres toutes les langues d'ailleurs, excepte le bolivien 😕, a bon entendeur salop) dire au revoir aux potes du port et je largue les ammarres (c'est surement pas la bonne orthographe, faudrait peut etre que je commence par ca😊)

Je suis toujours partante pour découvrir de nouveaux horizons, mais je ne comprends pas très bien l'envie de certains de se rendre dans des zones à hauts risques comme l'Irak ou l'Afghanistan... Quel est l'intérêt de partir en voyage dans des endroits où on risque de se faire tirer dessus ou de marcher sur une mine anti-personnelle? J'avoue que ça me laisse perplexe!!! Y-a-t-il des amateurs de ce genre de trips qui pourraient m'éclairer sur ce sujet?

Bon à force de lire les carnets de voyages, je me lance afin de remercier ceux qui m'ont aidé ! Ce road trip n'a rien d'original en soi sur le tracé qui est assez classique, mais l'esprit dans lequel nous y sommes allé , lui était différent des autres fois, le but était de faire des activités sympas (à partir de la seconde moitié du voyage) Mais surtout de parler avec plein de locaux, et on a été servis 😄 Je vais donc essayer de relater au mieux l'ambiance de ce voyage nouvelle formule pour nous, qui fut un grand succès, car après quelques jours de chauffe nous avons atteint le but de VIVRE le voyage et pas seulement de visiter !

Nous sommes donc partis en couple, ma chère compagne, Claire 32 ans (2eme fois aux USA, et votre fidèle narrateur Romain 36 ans ( 5ème fois aux USA)

Tout excité de partir le lendemain, après un été à "subir" la fine fleur des doryphores Français à Palavas les Flots, je me réveille avec un mail d'Air France me sollicitant d'imprimer nos cartes d'embarquements... Youhouuuu, j'allume l'ordi, vais sur le site d'air France , je suis la procédure et là ...



Imcompréhension, stress... panique !!! Je recommence, toujours pareil... Pourtant tout est bon, les ESTAs, les informations, tout est remplis, à jour, validé, re-checké 15 fois... Bref, je saute dans ma voiture direction l'aéroport de Montpellier... comptoir d'Air France, là je suis reçu par une dame très aimable qui au bout de 5 minutes de traffic sur son ordi , me dit , ben non, il n'y a pas de problème, je vous imprime les cartes d'embarquement . OUUUUFFFFFF !!! Je rentre chez moi sur un petit nuage , bien soulagé ! Mais on ne saura pas pourquoi ça ne fonctionnait pas depuis chez moi !

On termine les bagages et cette fois j'embarque ma canne à leurre 4 brins de voyage avec une sélection de leurres et ma battée d'orpaillage 😏, j'en profite aussi pour acheter la California fishing licence et je l'imprime. Tout est prêt...

Aventure: 50 jours dans l'est africain entre le Kénya, la Tanzanie et Zanzibar. Voici l'itinéraire que nous avons réalisé décembre 2014 à février 2015.

Nouveau sur le forum, j'apprécie énormément les conseils et carnets de voyage que vous postez sur la Namibie. j'envisage un séjour de 15 jours en Oct-Nov 2015 à deux familles en 4X4 équipés camping type HILUX Safari 3L automatique de chez ASCO. J'ai une certaine expérience de la conduite en tout terrain (Maroc, Portugal, Roumanie, Islande) mais avec mon propre véhicule et en groupe. 😇

Mais pour ce voyage, c'est en famille et avec seulement un autre véhicule!!😮 Aussi je souhaiterais avoir des renseignements précis sur l'état et la faisabilité de certains trajets.

Comme par exemple, de Purros à Opuwo en passant les rivières Hoarusib et Khumib, pour rejoindre la D3707 au sud d'Orupembe et remonter au Nord-Est. Est-ce un parcours facile? Combien de temps prévoir? Si les pleins de gasoils son faits à Palmwag, est-ce suffisant pour rejoindre Opuwo?😛 Y-a'il une autre option (D3705?)

Dasht-e Lut, Yazd, Esfahan, Bam, Kerman, Qeshm, Hormuz—a melody, a prayer at the heart of desire.

A dream, an unattainable fantasy? No. Not anymore. A very serious Italian travel agency is organizing this trip for 6 people this winter. I’m signed up, I’m going, I’m living. Maybe.

I know... I know that every civilization, every society has a vital need to create scapegoats to define and justify itself, pathetically. And Iran is one of them, top of the list. I laugh or sigh, and it doesn’t bother me.

But that unchanging red, deep red and garnet, so beautiful in itself, in all the Western chancelleries repeats, whispers, shouts: don’t go, don’t go, don’t go, you’re putting yourself in danger and we can’t do anything for you. You’ll be turned into mere bargaining chips, into arguments for endless negotiations. Fear must be instilled, its power absolutely preserved, no concessions made to the enemy. The information (how many French hostages, real or fake, compared to the number of travelers?) is always lacking.

Traveling becomes a merciless confrontation between desire, the vital pulse, and anxiety, its ghosts.

And we still haven’t seen everything! Before setting off for new horizons at the end of this year, it’s time for me to share my trip to Cape Verde this summer 2025.

I particularly love these spontaneous trips, and our stay in Cape Verde is one of those because it was only at the beginning of April that we decided on this getaway, which had been catching our eye for a while, given our love for the mountains.

As always—well, when it’s open—I turned to VF, and I want to immediately thank Marie, aka ptitortue, who helped me a lot in planning this trip through her travel journals and our exchanges!

Because Cape Verde is both small and vast! We decided not to rush from one airport to another, to enjoy the places and the people, but also to relax, since the work backlog from being stuck in May (see my previous travel journal 😅) had to be caught up on in June.

So, 4 islands will be our winners from 06/28 to 07/19:

Santiago first for logistical reasons, as round-trip flights from the capital Praia were the cheapest (650 €/person from Lyon via Lisbon with TAP, still!)

São Vicente, because it’s the gateway to the next one but ultimately more than that...

Santo Antão, pretty much the main goal of the trip since Marie (and the photos) had really sold it to me.

And finally, Sal Island, for some rest—a non-negotiable condition for my other half—and we’ll see that I should’ve listened to Marie...

That said, what a chatterbox I am—buckle up, flight attendants at the doors, off we go on new beautiful escapes! (Thanks to Sophie for the easy loan)

Last note for my eager fan club 😏: yes, there will be alcohol—how could there not be in the land of grogue!

For once, given the destination, the author can’t set aside their religious beliefs, which inevitably shape this kind of journey.

The Trip

Early in the morning at Orly Airport, in the departure lounge for Tel Aviv, a group of about forty young men arrives, all looking identical! The same neatly trimmed beards, the same identical haircuts, the same outfits with a touch of whimsy… The effect of seeing these forty “clones” is striking and raises questions! Why such perfect uniformity among this group of guys? Do they belong to the same family, sports club, cultural association, or religious group? A mystery! At the same time, the waiting area fills up with men who are more expected, given our destination: they wear large felt hats and dress in black suits with white shirts—Hassidim? The ones I’ve glimpsed fleetingly in Paris or New York, who have always been a mystery to me. More discreet-looking women accompany them.

I’m already in Israel without even setting foot there! Plus, I witness the preparations for an improvised show.

The “clones” start a flash mob at seven in the morning in a Paris airport departure lounge! Some pull out musical instruments, others begin singing and dancing. A music with strange, unfamiliar sounds enchants the waiting passengers.

The flight crew finally arrives, cutting through the flash mob, bringing us back to the reality of the moment: waiting to take off soon for this so troubling and mysterious Middle East. We go through passport control, presenting our faces to the scanners that operate the exit gate. The group of “identical” young men gets held up by the system: logically, a scanner let the first one through but blocked the second because of his perfect resemblance to the first. To the machine, the same person shouldn’t be able to cross the border twice? But eventually, the whole group makes it through the glass doors, leaving the Republic behind. My simplistic explanation is left looking ridiculous.

At every new destination, I ask myself countless questions, revealing a certain anxiety tied to the unknown: fear of attacks (one just happened at a bus station in Jerusalem), possible police pressure, unexpected events. Israel isn’t known for being a relaxing destination. In reality, if I did face a serious difficulty in this country, it wasn’t one I had anticipated—and it wasn’t particularly tied to Israel!

I take my seat by the window, which is already occupied by a little girl. Her father, a Hassidic man, politely asks if I’d be willing to give up my seat for his daughter. I tell him I’d be happy to make her happy. Seeing me masked, he asks if I’d like him and his daughter to wear masks too. In response, I take off my mask so as not to impose any constraints on them and wish them a good flight.

It was the first time I’d approached and spoken to a Hassidic man. He didn’t speak the way I might have expected after watching *Rabbi Jacob* with Louis de Funès; he spoke perfectly without an accent, just like you and me! Beware of stereotypes! Throughout the flight, I sneak glances at my strange neighbor: he prayed silently without stopping for a minute. His daughter, as good as gold, never interrupted him. He used several religious accessories during his three-hour continuous prayer: a kippa, a prayer shawl, and a rosary?… I left that plane deeply impressed, me, who has a very distant relationship with my Creator and only prays now and then.

We stayed on the island of Gran Canaria during the first three months of 2024. It’s the third Canary Island we’ve visited, after Tenerife and Lanzarote.

We rented an apartment in Temisas. By staying in the same place for such a long period, the total price dropped by 50%.

We also rented a vehicle to make getting around the island easier.

Why the Canary Islands, and Gran Canaria in particular? For its pleasant climate, the nature and diversity of its landscapes, the charming villages, and especially the beauty of its many beaches.

A somewhat lengthy title... I could have simply written: from Bangkok to Chiang Rai, via Chiang Mai, since that was my route. But when poets embellish our travel journals with their verbal flourishes, you’ve got to try not to be too ordinary.

Skyscrapers of excess? You’ll have gathered that from the photo illustrating this journal—though it might change as the trip goes on.

The excess of markets—not so much in their size, though... Chatuchak... But in their sheer number. Day markets, night markets, floating markets, fresh produce markets, fish markets, meat markets, spice markets, fabric markets... and even... amulet markets... For luck, good fortune, protection. Not to mention, sadly, the market for girls—and boys, incidentally. I’ve even heard they’re displayed in windows. I’ve heard about that one, like you have, but I didn’t set foot in it, so I can’t say anything about it. Some even claim there’s a black-market trade in children. Disgusting! It reminded me of the book *The Parcel* by Anosh Irani, which I recommended in another journal. The story is set in India, but I’ve been told it exists in Thailand too. So, the "famous Thai markets" we’re bombarded with in paper and online guides—sure, they amazed me in the first few days, and I don’t regret visiting them. But no matter how big they were, I quickly got my fill since you saw the same things at every stall...

I had a market overdose.

Excess of tourism? I should say *tourists*, since I saw them literally swarming in the streets and those famous markets. I’d forgotten about them. I’d lost the habit, living in an Indian city for so long...

Waterfalls are a bit like markets. At this time of year, they’re not particularly spectacular, but they’re everywhere. There are the ones everyone goes to see. For example, Erawan, which I decided to skip even though it was in my original itinerary—I guessed it’d be a nightmare with the selfie circus. On the other hand, you come across them all over the place, hidden in the mountains and forests, not listed in any guide. Not to mention the ones you can find in temples or even private homes... Yes, really! Thais love waterfalls, so they install them in their gardens—and I even saw one in the middle of the city, right on the street! Sometimes they’re tiny, but very photogenic.

But what do ice cubes have to do with this? Why the excess of ice cubes? Not only are they everywhere by the ton, but they put them in *everything* you drink. You’d think they’d even put them in soup! And it’s not just one or two ice cubes—no! They fill the container to the brim, whatever it is, then pour the liquid on top to fill the gaps. They’ll make you an excellent coffee right in front of you, piping hot, then—bam! An avalanche of ice cubes in the glass. Okay, I’m exaggerating a little. They *do* sometimes ask if you prefer your coffee—or tea—hot. Everything edible, and especially everything drinkable, is refrigerated: vegetables, fruit, hot drinks (I mean, drinks that are *usually* hot), but meat and fish are left out in the open. They just wave a little whisk to shoo away the flies when they get too eager. Mind you, I never put fruit, cheese, eggs, or water in the fridge in France, but I do in India. And I refrigerate meat and fish too... Though sometimes one of those little flies sneaks into the fridge...

You won’t find practical or technical details in this journal, like addresses or prices. Others do that better than me. You also won’t find the names of obscure or unknown places I discovered, or directions to get there.

I don’t really feel like recounting what I saw day by day, following my schedule and route. There might be flashbacks, projections into the future. It’ll depend on my memories, what I felt, what I hated, what comes back to me—and maybe your questions and our exchanges. And for those who’ve never read me before, you’ll have to get used to my parentheses and digressions, maybe on a completely different subject, as my thoughts wander. Stories within stories. There’ll also be long, endless sentences—but still punctuated, so you can follow along. Though I used to curse Proust and his sentences that started on one page and ended on the next, sometimes even further. I’d have to reread them twenty times to follow and understand what he was saying. I hated Proust. But hey, I was 20. Maybe I’d like him now?

See? The digressions are starting already. Forgive me.

You’ll find few photos here. First, the number is limited, and second, photos aren’t the main purpose of either VF or a travel journal. They’re too often used to mask the poverty of the text. Hello! I’m so excited to be back on this forum—it’s helped me so much in the past! I need your expert advice for our next trip, which will take us to Central Asia: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan.

We have a month, and here’s the itinerary I have in mind: Arrival in Tashkent – 2 days Bukhara – 2 days Samarkand – 3 days Panjakent – 1 day The Seven Lakes + Iskanderkul – 3 days Khujand – 2 days Fergana Valley – 3 days Song Kol Lake – 2 days Issyk-Kul Lake – 3 days Charyn Canyon – 1 day Kaindy Lake – 1 day Altyn Emel Park – 1 day Almaty – 1 day and departure

I know the travel times, especially in the mountains, can be long, but I’ve tried to optimize it so we can rest after the long drives. Our family includes three kids aged 5, 13, and 17. We’re used to backpacking. But I have *so* many questions: -Will it be extremely hot in Uzbekistan, but manageable in the other regions on my itinerary? -I’ve read conflicting things about trains in Uzbekistan: is it possible to book train tickets in advance from France? -For the Seven Lakes and Iskanderkul, do I need to hire a driver? Is it easy to find one? Since there are five of us, we’d need a large car… or is it possible to rent a car in Panjakent and drop it off in Khujand? -What’s worth visiting in the Fergana Valley? -I’d prefer to avoid domestic flights, so I planned to break up the Osh-Issyk-Kul Lake route by stopping at Song Kol Lake and taking a horseback ride. Is that realistic? Again, do I need to find a driver, or can we do it independently? -Where’s the best base for Issyk-Kul Lake? The main goal is to relax and swim (is it acceptable for women to wear swimsuits in these regions?) -For the last part of the trip—Charyn Canyon and Kaindy Lake from Issyk-Kul—is it doable, or do I need a driver once more? -Is Altyn Emel Park doable in the summer, or is it too hot? The idea is to see the views and do a short 3-hour hike.

Hello everyone, My wife Fanny and I, along with our three kids (ages 10, 12, and 14), are planning a two-week trip to Asia during the February break. This would be our first big family trip, and we’re looking to mix discovery, a change of scenery, some relaxation, and cultural immersion. We want to avoid overly organized tours or over-touristed destinations. Over 20 years ago, Fanny and I used to travel as a couple with backpacks, especially in India and Mongolia, but things have surely changed a lot since then. Now, we’re torn between: • Thailand: for its diversity (beaches, temples, nature) and accessibility for a first family trip. • Laos-Cambodia combo: for a potentially more authentic immersion, but we’re wondering if it’s well-suited for kids. - Sri Lanka: it seems amazing and family-friendly? Is the political situation stable enough? We have a few questions:

Which destination would you recommend for this kind of family setup? What itineraries might work for two weeks without feeling too rushed?
