Location de voiture Alamo 4x4 English translation pending
Hello

Merci

Panique à bord... English translation pending

English translation pending

English translation pending
Bonjour,

Hiking Trip in the Queyras from August 19th to 26th
I'm heading out with friends for a week in the Queyras to hike in this beautiful region, staying at accommodation in Molines-en-Queyras near Saint-Véran, from Wednesday the 19th to Wednesday the 26th of August.
It's accommodation where we can really relax, have breakfast, prepare picnics, and go on day hikes. Some of the Queyras' most famous hikes are less than an hour's drive away. In the evenings, we'll either eat out or cook at the apartment! Right now, there are 8 of us, and since there are 11 beds, 3 more people can still join the group. If you have any questions, don't hesitate! Approximate budget if we're 10 people: 175 € for accommodation + 150 € for restaurants + 55 € for miscellaneous (including shuttles or paid parking) – so a week of hiking at a reasonable price! Indicative hiking program:
After the hikes and depending on the time, we can explore the region a bit... Wednesday 2 PM: Cascade de l'Oule from Le Laus – 7.9 km and 710 m elevation gain Thursday: Sommet Bucher and Col des Prés Fromage – 11.9 to 15.5 km and 700 to 830 m elevation gain, depending on how we're feeling and the weather Friday: Tour de la Tête des Toillies – 14.5 km and 1,015 m elevation gain Saturday: Col Agnel and Lacs d'Asti, Foreant, and Égorgeou – 17.1 km and 980 m elevation gain Sunday: Lacs du Malrif – 12 km and 960 m elevation gain Monday: Col de Neal and Col du Lauzon – 16 km and 950 m elevation gain Tuesday: Lac de Lestio – 17.7 km and 870 m elevation gain
Wednesday: Lac de Roue – 4.5 km and 175 m elevation gain for the return trip

Car rental and maps for the High Atlas, Morocco
Hi everyone,
I’m planning a trip to the High Atlas in Morocco and have a few questions for you: - Why do so many people recommend avoiding international agencies for car rentals? Can anyone explain why? - Is Booking.com reliable, and has anyone rented a vehicle through their service? There’s a pretty big price difference compared to local Moroccan agencies. - Is there a detailed road map included in the rental car? - Is Google Maps enough to get around the High Atlas? This will be my first trip there.
Thanks so much to anyone who can help with this destination I’ve been dreaming about for years. Have a great evening, Roberto

Car rental in Phuket with drop-off in Krabi
Hi! I’d like to split my trip into two parts: 15 days in Phuket and 15 days in Krabi. Do you know if I can rent a car and drop it off in Krabi when I fly back to France?
Thanks for your feedback!
Have a great Sunday!

Chianti wine tasting tour with 3 young kids
Hi everyone, we’re a group of 11 people (including 3 kids under 4) who’d like to do a wine tasting tour starting from Florence (we haven’t rented a car) in Chianti.
We’re looking for an organized tour that leaves from Florence and lets the adults do some wine tasting (and olive oil tasting if possible).
For those who’ve done this tour, do you have any suggestions for tour names that organize these kinds of events? What should we look out for before booking these tours?
Thanks so much for your help!

Bac Ha
Hi there,
we’ll be in Mai Chau in June and we’re thinking of heading to Sapa, but first spending a few days in Bac Ha to do some hiking and explore the area.
Is this a good idea for those who’ve been there?
How do you get there?
Thanks for your feedback.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Question about gorilla permit agencies in Uganda
Hi there,
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the agencies you used to plan your trip to Uganda.
There’s the whole issue of gorilla permits, which need to be booked in advance and involve a significant financial commitment. That’s where I’m at with my trip planning. Between checking lutb.go.ug/ and reading online reviews, it’s hard to move forward with confidence.
I contacted the French Embassy, but they don’t provide any recommendations. I almost booked with an agency that had a really bad review from February specifically about the permit process.
How did you go about choosing your agency? Given the large sum involved, I’m this close to booking through a travel agency in France for this part.
From what I understand, no matter which agency books the permit, you’re ultimately guided by professionals trained for gorilla trekking based on the permit itself? I’m assuming that’s how it works.
Thanks for your feedback, and I’m really happy to see the forum’s new energy—it’s been super helpful to me in the past.

Tajikistan Trip — French-Speaking Guide
I was lucky enough to spend two stays in Tajikistan between October and November 2025. I met Fayziddin, who’s a French-speaking guide and very knowledgeable—he really knows how to share his love for his country and his valley. He’ll welcome you to his village and, in the future, to a hostel that’s currently under construction. I can’t recommend him enough!
What short hikes can I do around Karakol?
Hi there,
I’m looking for half-day hikes near Karakol (not Jety-Oguz, since I’ll be heading there separately—max 30 minutes’ drive to the trailhead).
I can find longer treks, but nothing for a short outing!
So, if you’ve got any ideas...
Thanks! :)

Sharing cabin on Toulon-Propriano crossing and/or stay in Porto-Vecchio
Hi there,
I’m traveling solo to Corsica on Tuesday, June 9, leaving from Toulon and arriving in Propriano the next day (June 10).
I’m offering to share my crossing—of course, you’d need to book your own ferry ticket as a foot passenger—but I can give you a ride and share my cabin (twin beds). We can discuss the price. 😊
After that, I’m heading to Porto-Vecchio, so I can drop you off there if you’d like.
I’ve booked a spot at a campsite where I rented a hard-sided cabin from June 10 to 18. If you’re interested, we could even share the week together.
Have a great day.

2 weeks in the Seychelles
We spent two weeks in the Seychelles at the end of March and beginning of April 2026.
We split our stay as follows: 4 nights on La Digue, nights on Praslin (assuming you meant a specific number here—let me know if you'd like to correct it!), and 6 nights on Mahé.
It’s a classic itinerary.
Inter-island transfers are done with the Cat Coco company. You can book the transfers online on their website, which also offers an airport-to-port shuttle when you arrive in Mahé. It takes about 50 minutes to go from Mahé to Praslin and 10 minutes between Praslin and La Digue.
La Digue is an island with very few cars (only taxis and a few official or business vehicles) and lots of bikes. You can rent them everywhere on the island—we rented ours from our landlady. Things to see and do on the island: a bike tour around the island, the Veuve Reserve (it’s a bird), Union Estate with a giant tortoise park, and especially Anse Source d’Argent (our favorite beach across all three islands) and all the other coves, including Grande Anse, Petite Anse, and Anse Sévère.
For food, there are several takeaways on the island and plenty of small shops for groceries—same goes for the other two islands.
On Praslin, we rented a car, but you can also use the bus network. There aren’t many destinations, the main one being the Vallée de Mai, a must-visit as the sanctuary of the coco de mer (the "butt nut"). It’s best to visit with a guide—they wait for a small group, and the ticket price can be split four ways. You *can* visit alone, but you’ll miss out on a lot of information. Another destination is Anse Georgette, in the north of the island near the airport and the golf course of a big resort. Have your accommodation notify the hotel when you’re heading there, and if you’re driving, park as soon as you see the first signs for the parking lot. Anse Lazio is famous, but much more touristy than Anse Georgette. We stayed in Anse Volbert Village at Côte d’Or, a stunning 3 km beach with shops, takeaways, and restaurants.
Mahé is the largest island. Like on Praslin, you can rent a car or use the buses—we rented one. The roads are good but sometimes narrow. Don’t forget the mountainous terrain in this part of the Seychelles, which makes some climbs very steep (same as on Praslin). Opt for small cars—they’re often automatic, and remember you drive on the left here!
Things to see on Mahé: the Jardin du Roi, a collection of everything that grows in the Seychelles—very interesting, with a great restaurant. Visit Anse Intendance, Anse Bazarca, and Police Bay in the south—three gorgeous beaches. Also check out Anse Royale. For souvenirs, head to the Craft Village, where you can find some unique items. If you’re a fan, visit the Takamaka distillery.
In conclusion, we should’ve added one or two more nights on La Digue—it’s really beautiful—and only stayed three nights on Praslin. We rented apartments through Booking and Airbnb. Don’t forget to get your tourist visa online. The Seychelles is a clean, safe, relaxed, and stress-free country

Korgaljyn (Kazakhstan): guided tour for bird photography
Hi there,
I’d like to spend 2–3 days in the Korgaljyn area in May to photograph flamingos and other birds.
I’ll be in Astana and I’m looking for a tour that includes accommodation so I can stay for 2 days.
I’ve found the buses from Astana and info about the park’s facilities, but no accommodation or guided outings.
Has anyone done this?
Thanks for your help
Praslin-Mahé ferry and international flight on the same day in summer
Hello,
We’ll be on vacation in the Seychelles in July and will visit La Digue, Praslin, and then Mahé in that order. Our 21-year-old daughter will have to leave earlier than us while we’re still on Praslin.
We’re hesitating between the following options for her return:
Option 1:
- July 9: ferry from Praslin at 2:00 PM – arrives in Mahé at 3:15 PM.
- International flight departing at 7:30 PM.
- The connection is very tight, leaving a 1- to 2-hour safety margin in case the ferry is delayed.
Option 2:
- July 9: ferry from Praslin at 8:00 AM – arrives in Mahé at 9:15 AM.
- International flight departing at 7:30 PM.
- This is safer than Option 1, but it means she’d lose the whole day, spending it alone. We’d pay for a day pass giving her access to a hotel pool to kill time.
From experience, what do you think? Are significant ferry delays (2 hours or more) common, especially in July with the swell, making Option 1 too risky?
Or is even Option 2 too risky, and should our daughter take a ferry the day before (though that would mean missing a lot of time with us)?
Or should she take an Air Seychelles flight the same day instead of the ferry? Is that safer than the ferry? But it’s much more expensive…
I know no one can give me certainty on this, but I’d just love to hear your gut feeling from those who have experience with inter-island transfers in the Seychelles.
Thanks so much in advance!
Christophe
What's the best time of year and what type of vehicle should we use to visit northern Chile?
Hi everyone,
We're planning a trip to Chile to visit the Atacama Desert and then head toward Putre, Lauca, Salar de Surire, etc.
Which would be the better time to go, April or November?
Is an SUV enough?
Looking forward to your tips!
Back from Guadeloupe
Hi! We spent 10 wonderful days in Guadeloupe’s gorgeous climate. Our arrival got off to a shaky start, though—our suitcase was left behind at the airport, which caused quite a stir. A police officer was shouting at us to get out and cross the street. Then, a taxi driver refused to take us after we showed him where we were staying, right by the port in Pointe-à-Pitre. "No one goes there," he told us! Good thing we arrived during Carnival! A second driver finally agreed to take us, and I can say he knew every nook and cranny of his city.
The rest of the trip was amazing. The locals were smiling and welcoming. We didn’t rent a car, so we didn’t get around much and stayed in the Deshaies area—a real favorite. Plage de la Perle (Pearl Beach) truly lives up to its name! We liked Grande Anse Beach less because of the steep slope, which made walking tricky, and the waves were pretty intense. The landscapes in this part of the island are idyllic. We visited the botanical garden—it’s worth it—and went to the port in Deshaies. If we ever go back, we’ll rent a vehicle so we can explore more, because taxis aren’t cheap!

The landscapes in this part of the island are idyllic. We visited the botanical garden—it’s worth it—and went to the port in Deshaies. If we ever go back, we’ll rent a vehicle so we can explore more, because taxis aren’t cheap!
