Traveling in France off-season: what to prioritize?
by IsaacPellan · 2026-01-08 · 6 replies
Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about planning several short trips in France outside peak tourist seasons, especially in spring and autumn.

The idea would be to prioritize:

- fewer crowds at tourist sites - more affordable accommodation prices - a more local atmosphere

However, I also have some concerns about:

- attractions or restaurants sometimes being closed - more unpredictable weather depending on the region - less frequent transportation in certain areas

For those of you who’ve traveled in France off-season before, what do you think were the main pros and cons? Are there any regions or specific times that are particularly worth prioritizing?

Thanks in advance for your experiences! 😊
Does the Open Deck service exist on Italy-Greece ferries?
by Randomi · 2026-01-07 · 2 replies
Hi there, During our last trip to Greece in 2021, we used Anek Lines' open deck offer, which allowed us to spend the night in our van on an open deck by the sea with access to the ferry's bars, restaurant, and showers (on the Ancona-Igoumenitsa route). From my initial research, it seems this service no longer exists—can anyone confirm this? Any alternatives? Thanks
Recommendations for a road trip in southern Spain and Lisbon
by Sancho90 · 2025-11-03 · 3 replies
Hi everyone!

I’m currently on a road trip in southern Spain, stopping for a few days in Mérida and Badajoz, then heading toward Lisbon, which I’ve been strongly recommended to visit 🙂

Any ideas for sights, restaurants, bars, or must-do activities in my upcoming destinations? I’m all ears!

Thanks in advance! 😎
Meals on MS Modigliani river cruise
by Johanne21 · 2025-09-23 · 2 replies
Hi there, I’d like to ask . . . Are all included meals on board the boat when we’ve purchased excursions? With the boat, I mean. Is it ever the case that the included lunch is served en route for the group at a restaurant, or do we always have to return to the boat to eat and then head back out in the afternoon to continue the visits? Thanks in advance!
Finding a job as a foreigner in Japan
by Debzac74 · 2025-09-17 · 2 replies
Hi there,

I’d love to go to Japan to travel, and if things go well, work there too. Has anyone tried finding a job there? Is it even possible without speaking Japanese? I’m thinking of starting out in restaurants (dishwashing or serving) and then moving into my field, IT.

Visiting the pyramids

Hi, how’s the visit to the pyramids going? Do we buy tickets on the spot? Is the distance to cover significant? How do you get around—on foot? Are there shuttles? Thanks
TikTok Tests Hotel Booking in the United States
by VoyageForum · 2025-08-20 · 2 replies
TikTok is currently experimenting with a hotel booking feature directly integrated into its app, in partnership with a well-known specialized platform. American users can now search for and book accommodations without leaving TikTok. Meanwhile, content creators with over 1,000 followers can promote hotels and restaurants in the U.S. and earn commissions or vouchers for bookings. This test, limited to the U.S. market for now, aligns with the trend of social commerce. There’s no doubt this initiative will be closely watched by major players in the online travel industry.

What are your best foodie spots in Montreal?
by Arwena · 2025-08-01 · 37 replies
Hi everyone,

I’m heading back to Montreal in early November after several years away. I’m so excited! I won’t be staying long, but I’ll have time to wander and explore.

I’d love to get your recommendations for great things to eat—restaurants, bakeries, all kinds of food. I’m open to all your suggestions and addresses. I’ll definitely hit up the market. And eat bagels, of course.

I’ll probably stay in the Quartier des Spectacles, but I’ll definitely be getting around the city.

Thanks in advance!
Which neighborhood to stay in Rome based on my criteria?
by Attila · 2025-07-26 · 12 replies
Hi there, 🙂

I’m about to book 4 nights in the Italian capital and I’m wondering where the best place to stay would be.

- A neighborhood that’s not too noisy - A neighborhood well served by public transport (airport and the city’s main sights) - A neighborhood with restaurants and supermarkets - A neighborhood with relatively reasonable prices

Public transport is essential. We gave this trip as a gift to someone who won’t be able to walk long distances like we usually do.

I also don’t want to be too far from the historic center.

Termini and Monti seem to fit these criteria? Is Termini a bit sketchy? But sketchy like dangerous or sketchy like homeless people just looking for a place to sleep?

We’ll be traveling off-season.

Thanks for your ideas !
Using the WISE Card for Payments or Cash Withdrawals (Your Experience)
by Puma2A · 2025-07-08 · 11 replies
Hello,

I’ve heard a lot about WISE for low-cost money transfers (booking/paying for safari services). I’m looking for feedback from people who’ve actually used WISE to pay at a restaurant or withdraw local cash from an ATM.

Could you share what you consider the "pros" and "cons" of the WISE debit card compared to a traditional bank card? Also, do you think there are any risks? If so, what are they? Thanks in advance for shedding some light on this—I’m only interested in firsthand experiences.

Thanks!

Serifos: Livadakia or Faros for accommodation and fun activities?
by Paul79 · 2025-05-21 · 2 replies
Hi there, I’m planning to wrap up my 3 weeks in Greece with 4 nights on Serifos before a final night in Athens. I’m torn between staying in Faros or near the port in Livadakia... or somewhere else! I’m looking for an authentic spot with a nice beach nearby but still with little restaurants, shops, etc. Something where my daughters and I can enjoy pleasant evenings with a bit of life around us! Any advice—or even a place to stay—that won’t break the bank, obviously! Thanks

Hi there! We’ve decided to head to Panama this summer and would love to do a road trip with a rental car—there are four of us, and our kids are 20 and 23. Do you have any recommendations on must-see spots and things to avoid? Any great tips for accommodation, restaurants, or activities? Thanks so much for your help

Biking Route from Russia to China
by Ericdu38 · 2024-12-25 · 1 reply
Hi, I’m looking for info on doing a solo bike trip from Chelyabinsk to northern China via Omsk. What’s the best time of year to go? Can I do it staying only in hotels and restaurants—without having to haul a tent, stove, etc.? Also, is there a border crossing point in northern China, because I can’t find anything on Google Maps? What’s the road condition like? Thanks
Review of a cruise on Le Lirica (Greek islands, Egypt)
by Powerbas · 2024-12-05 · 5 replies
Hi everyone, A little feedback on our 12-day cruise in early November on the Lirica.

The Lirica is a human-sized ship with 2,500 passengers for an old-school cruise—no extra-charge themed restaurants or bars, but large lounge bars with plenty of seating. We had no trouble grabbing a drink. The meals are decent, the staff is always helpful, but the ship is starting to show its age, and the cabins aren’t exactly fresh anymore. The low point: the shows were the worst we’ve seen in eight cruises—barely up to camping standards.

Day 1 Boarding in Venice. Since the ship now departs from Marghera, there’s a transfer from the terminal to the ship by water shuttle. Day 2 At sea. Day 3 Katakolon We’ve already visited Olympia twice, so we did some shopping at the port and the only shopping street. Day 4 Heraklion Excursion with MSC to the Palace of Knossos and shopping. It’s a bit pricier than doing it on your own, but you get the guide’s explanations.

After visiting the palace, we explored Heraklion—a very lively city.

Day 5 Rhodes The ship docks just steps from the old town, a magnificent city surrounded by its ramparts.

Visit to the Palace of the Grand Masters.

Activities in Angers
by Titi2803 · 2024-11-19 · 3 replies
Hi everyone,

I’m spending two days in Angers with my wife. I’ve heard great things about this city, especially how pleasant it is to live there. Could you share some activity ideas to help me explore the city (restaurants, museums, art galleries, places to walk, pubs, etc.)? Just so you know, I’ll be arriving by train.

Thanks for your suggestions! Have a great day, Thierry
What to do in Addis Ababa in the evening?
by Burdi33 · 2024-11-08 · 2 replies
Hi everyone on the forum,

I’m arriving Thursday morning at 6:35 AM in Addis Ababa, heading straight to the hotel to drop off my bag. After that, I’ll be exploring the main sights of the city solo with my local guide—everything’s already on my list. For the evening, I’m looking for a traditional restaurant, preferably with some entertainment that doesn’t go too late since we’re leaving early the next day. If you know of any great spots and/or lively neighborhoods in the old city, I’d love to hear about them. I haven’t found much online.

Circuit découverte une semaine au départ d'Ajaccio en voiture English translation pending
by Maldemer · 2020-08-04 · 5 replies

a voir https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/ondemand/video/4001358/

by Voyageois · 2020-03-21 · 9 replies
