Nous allons arriver a San Jose CR pour la première fois de nos vies le 2 jan 11h00 du mat au 16 jan afin de visiter la cote Pacifique, et aussi dans l'intention d'acheter un terrain évantuellement. SVP j'aimerais avoir de l'information sur un bon hotel avec piscine pour $50us la nuit pour notre arrivés a San Jose. Je pars pour le Costa Rica le 14mars 2006 pour 2 semaines. Le lieux d'arriver est San José. J'aimerais y faire de la plonger sous-marine, mais j'aimerais savoir quel sont les meilleurs place pour faire de la plonger. Je sais qu'il y a Coco Island, mais le problème ses que ca coute un prix de fou et cela est juste offert en croisière à moins que quelqu'un d'entre-vous connaissez une place pas cher. Sinon ou puis-je aller pour de superbe plonger?

Puis nous aimerions visiter le Costa Rica dans son ensemble et j'aimerais avoir des idées de place à visiter.

Plutot que l'avion, j'aimerais relier en bus en 1 semaine Mexico a San Jose au Costa Rica début décembre; qques questions : Est ce faisable dans des conditions de confort correctes sur tout le parcours (a priori selon le forum il semblerait qu'il y ait des lignes de bus "confort" dans chaque pays) ? Les degats causés par les ouragans dernierement le permettent ils toujours ? Passer les frontieres est il compliqué ? Une idée approximative du cout pour ce trajet ? Ca vaut le coup de le faire en bus plutot qu'en avion ?

Nous allons partir aux US Arrivée le 23/07 à San Francisco au soir et retour le 12/08 après-midi de LA. Nous sommes 5: 2 adultes et 3 ados de 17, 13 et 12 ans.

Que pensez-vous du Road Trip ci-dessous? Est-ce que cet itinéraire vous paraît réalisable? Sachant que la patience et l'endurance des enfants sont un peu limitées 🙁 et que nous n'avons pas l'expérience de tels voyages avec nos enfants.

Bonjour à toutes et tous. Après avoir expérimenté le côté ouest de la Cordillère (San Pédro de Atacama), je m'attaque à l'est. Le voyage est booké (vols, hôtels, voiture tourisme) pour novembre 2019, plus qu'à attendre 9 mois (!...) et à étudier les points d'intérêts. Je vais passer deux nuits à Mendoza pour récupérer du voyage, puis détails suivants. Uspallata pour six nuits : objectifs principaux écumer la vallée de l'Aconcagua par la RN7. Je compte monter à pédibus ou en voiture jusqu'au Cristo. Vallecitos semble aussi pas mal pour les balades ainsi que Alto Potrerillo Barréal pour cinq nuits : objectif central le Leoncito, nuit d'observation astronomique, las Colores. Los Escalones et peut-être une grosse journée de marche dans la cordillère de Ansilta. San Jos�� de Jachal pour sept nuits : objectifs Talampaya et Ischigualasto mais aussi aller cotoyer les hauteurs par la ruta 150 vers paso de agua negra (à ce sujet savez vous si la route est macadamisée ou toujours gravel road ?

Je prends toute idée de balade sachant que la marche et la photographie de paysages et les animaux sont mes priorités.

Quelle location de voiture en Basse Californie ? Nous partirons du 19 octobre au 10 novembre. Nous partirons de Tijuana, puis Ensenada, San Pedro Martir, Catavina, Bahia Los Angeles, Guerrero Negro, San Ignacio, Santa Rosalia, Mulege, Loreto, La Paz, Todos Santos, Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo. Cet itinéraire comporte des pistes ..... mais nous souhaitons éviter de louer un 4X4 car très cher ..... D'avance merci pour vos conseils ....

Bonjour mon ami et moi partons pour le Costa Rica dans un mois nous arriverons a sans José le jeudi à 15h45 pour repartir le samedi de la semaine suivante à 17h30!!! Nous aimerions faire tortuguero , monteverde, Fortuna( volcan Arenal ) Manuel san Antonio visite d une plantation de café et finir par 2 jours sur des plages magnifiques!!! Mais on a besoin de. Votre aide ;-) nous allons loyer un 4*4 mais aimerions pas trop perdre de temps!! On se posait la question de prendre direct l avion pour tortuguero le jeudi pour repartir le vendredi dans l après midi et louer la voiture à ce moment là car vu que ce n est pas la saison de la ponte on voudrait visiter le village le jeudi et faire la visite en bateau le vendredi matin !! Est ce jouable ?? Pour les plages que nous conseillez. Vous comme endroit de rêve ?? Mille merci pour votre aide ;-)

J'ai trouvé sur un site concernant Mal Pais de l'info pour un soi-disant raccourci entre San José et Caldera pour rejoindre le ferry a Puntarenas qui ferait gagner au moins une heure. Les explications ne sont pas super super clairs et je voulais savoir si quelqu'un connaissait le plan et pouvait préciser les infos récoltés ci-dessous (désolé mais c'est en anglais):

New Shortcut! There’s a new road from San Jose to Caldera, and you can use this superhighway to rapidly get to the ferry… saving up to an hour of driving time. As of this writing, there are no signs for how to do this, so follow these instructions: Drive west from the airport on the main freeway (Interamericana) until you see an exit for Atenas. Take that exit and cross over the freeway to your left. Drive for approximately 2km and turn left between a soccer field and a blue school. There is no sign here for the freeway. If you get lost, ask for “La Pista por Caldera”. Drive for 3.5km the then you’ll see an overpass. Don’t go under it but instead turn left just before the freeway, and that will take you to the onramp. Get on that and head west (right) again. It will take you to Caldera, which is the main port next to Puntarenas, and from there, drive north along the coast. You’ll pass a big development called “La Roca” and eventually you’ll pass up and over the top of the road you want to turn right onto. There’s a sign for Puntarenas, but it’s been covered with tree branches for several years, so it’s difficult to see. Loop around to the right and get onto this road, heading west again, and follow that in a straight line all the way to the very tip of the Puntarenas peninsula, and then turn right and it will curve around to the ferry line.

je suis entrain de preparer un voyage au costa rica je souhaiterai faire un cicuit en passant pas san josé, puerto viejo, tortuguero, arenal, monteverde, poas, manuel antonio. Et passer 1 ou 2 nuit dans ces destinations.

PROBLEME: j'ai bien des exemples d'hotels sur le forum ou en allant sur d'autre site de recherche mais je ne trouve pas vraiment de site officiel car j'aimerai faire un devis pour tous sachant que l'on est 5 à partir.

Dans le guide LP, ils mentionnent un ferry Atienza Shipping le samedi de El Nido a Coron, et un bateau San Nicolas Shipping le mardi de Coron a San Jose, Mindoro. Quelqu'un peut-il confirmer ces infos ?

Nous allons costa rica en fevrier, nous louons une voiture pour 2 semaines. les 3 premiers jours nous allons demeures a san jose dans un petit hotel. la dame de l'endroit nous a propose un tour organise en bus au volcan arenal pour $80.00 chaque personne incluant eaux thermal. On se demande si on ne devrait pas y aller par nos propres moyens et ainsi sauver $ 160.00. merci pour tous vos conseils.

Hi everyone, I’m so happy 🙂 to be traveling again after 5 years without a trip. I’m heading back to Costa Rica for 18 days from December 12th to 30th with a friend. We’re doing San José-Sarapiquí (2 nights), then Sarapiquí-Tortuguero (3 nights), then from Tortuguero heading to the Cahuita and Puerto Viejo area. We’ll spend about ten days in that region, then make a 2-day stop somewhere before flying back out of San José. From what I’ve read on this blog, Puerto Viejo seems like the "rasta," party-friendly spot, which is honestly the kind of place I tend to avoid—too touristy. I’m looking for places surrounded by beautiful nature. I’ve already spent several weeks in Drake Bay (in 2019 and 10 years before that) and loved it. My friend also wants to visit the Bri Bri. Could you recommend some authentic spots in this southern Caribbean area? Your favorite places—whether it’s sights to see, accommodations, or even your favorite little restaurants 😛? What’s the most authentic way to visit the Bri Bri? What’s your take on that? And finally, what beautiful stop would you recommend before heading back to San José? A huge thank you to everyone! Hi everyone, I’m restarting my travel reports with my 2023 trip that took me from Costa Rica to Suriname over a month and a half.

First stop: Costa Rica. I arrived in late September in San José, a city I know well and never linger in. As soon as I got off the early-morning flight, I headed to the domestic airport—just a 5-minute walk away—to catch a 45-minute flight to Puerto Limón on the Caribbean coast. The 40-minute flight in a small Cessna was fun, especially since we landed on a tiny airstrip right by the sea—it felt like landing on the beach, which immediately set the mood. Plus, I wasn’t keen on enduring the 4–5-hour bus ride to Cahuita, especially since large sections of the road were under renovation. In Cahuita (where I’ve been going every year since 2015), I stayed at Kenaki Lodge on Playa Grande. It’s a great lodge, about a 45-minute walk from Cahuita’s center, but you’re just 50 meters from the beach and usually have it all to yourself. The lodge is run by Béa, a Frenchwoman, and depending on the season, you can help release baby turtles on the beach. The room was 55 €, very spacious, and you can use the outdoor kitchen. I’d recommend it for anyone looking for peace and quiet and a private beach.

After 5 days there, I flew to Cartagena but didn’t stay overnight. Instead, I headed straight to Rincón del Mar, a 3-hour bus ride from CTG. I’d mostly heard about it from a friend who lives there and runs El Ché, a beachfront restaurant. Rincón del Mar is a tiny seaside village, very peaceful, with a pretty nice beach. There are lots of small hotels and restaurants, and it’s a spot that’s likely to grow quickly in the coming years. Note: there’s no ATM there, so you’ll need to withdraw cash in San Onofre, about 30 minutes away by moto-taxi. The round trip costs around 25,000 COP. That’s also where you catch the bus to Cartagena. For accommodations, rooms were roughly 70,000–90,000 COP, with a so-so value for the price. As for things to do, I’d recommend the tour that takes you to watch the sunset in front of Bird Island, followed by a swim in a lagoon with bioluminescent plankton. The excursion (if I remember correctly) cost around 90,000 COP.

After a week in Rincón del Mar, I headed back to Cartagena and decided to fly to Yopal to visit the Río Meta. In Yopal, you’ll need to go to the bus terminal (10 minutes by taxi from the airport). From there, I took a bus to Orocué (50,000 COP) for about a 4-hour trip—it felt endless because the road was in terrible condition. Orocué is a tiny town on the banks of the Río Meta, but it has all the essentials (hotels, restaurants, ATMs). It’s lovely to stroll along the river at sunset. There are a few small bars, the area is very natural, the sunsets are stunning, and when there are distant storms, it’s just breathtaking. For lodging, I stayed at Hotel Brisas de San Miguel. It wasn’t bad—fan-cooled room for 70,000 COP. There were quite a few mosquitoes. I spent 3 days in Orocué. If you want to swim, head to the bridge (the only one), Cano San Miguel, and on the right, there’s a swimming spot. With the heat, it’s a great way to cool off.

From Orocué, I took a fast *lancha* (boat) up the Río Meta to Puerto Carreño, in the Vichada department at the far end of Colombia. This brings you to the majestic Orinoco River, right across from Venezuela. The boat ride is long—10 hours—and costs about 60 €. We left around 6 AM, with a few stops for bathroom breaks and meals along the way. But you *must* book your spot 1–2 days in advance. To do that, go to the small square above the dock—there’s a "navigation office" there. The trip was long but enjoyable. I never get tired of river journeys.

I was happy to finally arrive in Puerto Carreño, a small border town with Venezuela. No surprise that half the population was Venezuelan. In Puerto Carreño, I stayed at Hotel Delfines del Orinoco. The room was 80,000 COP, decent, with A/C, and the best part was the pool. I spent 2 nights there. One thing you *must* do—morning and evening—is hike to the top of Cerro de la Bandera (the *cerros* are huge rock formations typical of the Orinoco region, and there are many in the area). From the summit, you get amazing 360° views of the savanna and jungle. Sunrise is especially incredible. The trail is well-marked—from downtown Puerto Carreño, it takes about 20 minutes.

Next, I spent 3 nights at Rancho Barú. About an hour by boat from Puerto Carreño, you get off at Casuarito, and someone from the lodge picks you up by motorcycle for a 30-minute ride. The ranch is in the middle of the savanna, with a river/rapids beach just a 5-minute walk away. You can also fish—bites come quickly. For the lodge, one night (room or hammock) with shared bathrooms, three meals included, one excursion, plus the round-trip motorcycle ride costs 245,000 COP. An extra night without an excursion is around 100,000 COP, but you need to let the lodge know in advance so they can prepare enough food—there’s absolutely nothing for miles around.

After those 3 great days at the ranch, I took a canoe to cross into Venezuela, since Casuarito is right across from Puerto Ayacucho. The crossing costs 10,000 COP, but I got shaken down by Venezuelan immigration, who invented a violation and made me pay $40 USD. Puerto Ayacucho didn’t inspire me much. The city felt sketchy, with many hotels closed. Dealing with currency exchange was the hardest part—you *must* bring cash (USD or Colombian pesos), know the exchange rate, and find someone with enough money to exchange with you. It took me at least 2 hours. I stayed in a decent hotel downtown for $20 USD a night, but I’ll admit that going out at night—even in Puerto Ayacucho—felt pretty dodgy. All the buildings have bars on the windows, and there weren’t many people outside. I didn’t linger and found my plans to continue south too complicated. The next day, I took a bus across the country to the Brazilian border at Santa Elena de Uairén. The trip took a day and a night, with countless military checkpoints where they made everyone get off, unload all the luggage, etc. Not exactly a fun ride.
