Bonjour, je suis à la préparation de notre itinéraire afin de visiter les cyclades en septembre prochain. J'ai remarqué sur les sites de réservation de ferrys/bateaux que soit il n'y a plus de billet en classe économique ou qu'il n'en reste que quelques-uns. Je suis comme sceptique étant donné que nous ne serons pas dans la saison touristique qu'il n'y ait pas plus de disponibilité. Selon vous, est-ce une ruse pour nous inciter à acheter rapidement ou bien on peut vraiment attendre sur place pour acheter nos billets de ferrys/bateaux. Notre itinéraire sera Athènes vers Mykonos en avion avec Aegean, En bateau de Mykonos vers Paros, Paros vers Naxos, Naxos vers Santorin, Santorin vers Rhodes et Rhodes vers Athènes en avion avec Aegean. Since I had trouble finding up-to-date info, here’s an update on some key points for Jordan/Egypt ferries as of August 2025.

Right now, AB Maritime is the only company still operating ferries. Other companies sometimes mentioned (Jordan Sinaï Hotel and Tour, Sinaï Ferry, etc.) have stopped running (no response by phone or email, and confirmed on-site).

On the Jordanian side, the fast ferry doesn’t leave from the port of Aqaba but from Tala Bay (20 km further south). There’s supposedly a slow ferry that departs in the evening from Aqaba port (according to a taxi driver), but I couldn’t find any info about it.

Currently, there’s one ferry per day in each direction for Aqaba/Taba and another for Aqaba/Nuweiba. But the schedules aren’t great for backpackers—and they’re not the same every day.

On the Jordanian side at Tala Bay, you access the port by walking through a large resort, go through border control before boarding the ferry (+ luggage check). You have to pay the exit tax of 10 JOD (12 €) to "someone sitting on a bench in front"!!! It’s true—you need to ask who to pay, or customs won’t let you through without the magic coupon. Oddly, I arrived early and managed to take a different ferry than the one I’d booked online by insisting (it wasn’t open for online reservations). I bought the ticket on the AB Maritime website. Confirmation by email was brief. Then you have to find another person outside the port who has the passenger list and will give you the actual ticket. (What a joy this organization is!) Luckily, everyone’s really friendly with tourists.

On the Egyptian side, arrival in Taba isn’t in Taba itself but at Taba Heights (20 km further south), in a hotel zone. Immigration can be more or less quick depending on your place in the queue at the single office... (free Sinai visa or paid Egypt visa). And outside... nothing. Nothing: no exchange bureau, no ATM, no drink or SIM vendor... A nightmare. No bus station. One or two taxis at prohibitive prices. Personally, I walked about fifteen minutes to the Strand Hotel to find someone who could actually help me (ATM out of service in that big resort). From there, two bus companies currently operate: Webus in small vans but you have to book at least 2 days in advance (frequent, fast, reasonable prices) or GoBus with large buses (only one per day, even cheaper). They head south to Nuweiba, Sharm El Sheikh, etc. A taxi from Taba to Sharm was quoted at 120 USD at the port exit!

For me, the ferry and GoBus schedules didn’t align at all. If I’d known about Webus earlier, I could’ve saved 6 hours of waiting...

On another note, a Taiwanese traveler I met also mentioned that the Hurghada-Sharm El Sheikh ferry is no longer running.

Basically, these border crossings and ferries are more suited to organized tours than backpackers, but it’s still doable.

I need to book a ferry for my return from Sifnos the day before my flight back. I’ve booked accommodation at ARTEMI. I’m torn between: - a ferry arriving at 4 PM in Lavrio with a free shuttle to the airport from the port for 168 € (for 3 people) - a ferry arriving at 8 PM in Piraeus for 90 €. Is it worth just adding a taxi from the airport to Artemi, or is it better to take the cheaper option arriving in Piraeus and then a taxi from Piraeus to my accommodation? I’m also wondering if arriving at 8 PM the night before my departure is cutting it too close? If the ferry is delayed, can I take another one? My flight isn’t until 10 AM the next day, so I do have some time... Thanks for your advice

Hi everyone, I’m traveling through Norway with my dog. I’d love to take the Kystriksveien Coastal Route, but there are some ferry crossings that only take 10 minutes. I was wondering if, for these short trips, I can stay in my car with my dog? He’s sensitive, and I don’t want to leave him alone or take him out of the car because I think the ferry noise will stress him out. I’d like to travel from France to the Philippines without flying. I’ve found ways to reach the South China Sea easily, whether from China, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc. However, I can’t find a straightforward way to get to the Philippines by sea. There’s a cargo ship from Zamboanga to Sandakan, but getting to Sandakan is really complicated. Do you have any simpler ideas for ferries or cargo ships? I can arrive anywhere in the Philippines. Has anyone tried hitching rides on cargo ships in ports? From which port?

Voici mon carnet de voyage lors de cet été un peu spécial. Je limite volontairement sur vf à une ou deux photos par jour (certains trouveront que c'est encore trop...) C'est parti 🙂

Les billets étaient pris depuis novembre. Très incertain depuis ce printemps marqué par l'épidémie, ce voyage en Grèce est une bouffée d'air (chaud) après cette période de confinement et d'immobilisme. Nous reprenons donc la route en camion, vers la Grèce continentale. Routes montagneuses, sites antiques, eaux cristallines et ports de pêche, voici en quelques mots les contours d'un voyage riche en couleurs et en saveurs... Les cigales ? Elles ne s'arrêtent qu'à la nuit tombée...

La cathédrale de Nantes est en feu, le périphérique est bloqué. Challans, Niort, Montluçon, nous prenons la poudre d'escampette en dehors des sentiers battus afin d'éviter le coût exorbitant des péages français. Petit parking très au calme à Rocles quelque part dans l'Allier entre La Prugnole et Blanchetière. Pour celles et ceux qui ne visualisent pas, nous sommes à une trentaine de kilomètres au sud-ouest de Moulins. Les enfants ramassent des bâtons qu'ils jettent dans le lac tandis que mes talents de bricoleur se confirment: le mitigeur nouvellement installé inonde le camion.

Bonjour, je pose la question ici si quelqu'un peut partager son expérience récente du ferry Ancone/Corfu ou patras, on a l'habitude de prendre cet itinéraire pour aller en Grèce, et habituellement c'est assez chargé comme moyen de transport, est ce que la distanciation sociale est encore possible dans ces espaces exiguës? concernant le test Covid aléatoire à l'arrivée, est ce qu'il faut attendre le résultat du test sur place? j'ai appris qu'à la suite d'un cas positif dans un vol pour Athènes, les autres passagers ont été contactés pour s'auto isoler, est ce que c'est le cas aussi si un passager s'avère positif dans un ferry?? nous devions faire la traversée Kiel vers Oslo en ferry, le 26 juin, pour un coût important (950€). La compagnie a annulé le ferry pour cause Covid. au début elle nous a dit que nous aurions un avoir. et non, on ne voit rien venir. ce qui est scandaleux, c'est qu'elle nous impose maintenant : - soit d'annuler le voyage purement et simplement, et on n'a droit à rien comme dédommagement - soit de reporter le voyage à plus tard, mais là c'est succulent : nous devons payer 104 € de frais de modification, en plus des 950 déjà encaissés. - et je dois répondre sous 7h sinon la proposition est annulée.

donc je me vois être obligé de payer 100€ pour ne pas en perdre 900 ! c'est proprement du racket. aferry est une agence quasi incontournable pour réserver en ligne, et il n'y a guère de concurrence. et, cerise sur le gâteau, il n'existe aucun moyen de s'adresser à eux : ni téléphone, ni messagerie, ni adresse postale. avez-vous eu ce genre de mésaventure ?

Bonjour, Je souhaite réserver mes traversées dans les Cyclades avec un ferry ou un bateau sur lequel on peut aller sur le pont durant la traversée. Or, quand je vais sur les sites pour réserver le bateau, aux dates sélectionnées, je ne tombe que sur des speedboats ou catamarans. Est-ce que cela signifie qu’il n’y a que ce type de bateau en été ? Bonjour, Je vais passer 2 ou 3 jours à Santorin mi-mai ensuite je voudrais aller à Sifnos, j’ai lu que les ferries de Zante ne sont en service sur cette ligne que 2 fois par semaine, mais je ne vois pas les horaires, c’est peut-être trop tôt ? Sinon Seajet assure la liaison le jeudi et le dimanche ? Mardi également ? Est ce que ça remue beaucoup ? J’ai beau être une ilienne, j’ai le mal de mer ... de plus je sais qu’en cas de mauvais temps, les bateaux rapides peuvent être annulés, je garde deux jours ou un de marge pour reprendre l’avion à Santorin ? Bonjour je projette d aller à santon en fin mai .je souhaiterai passer quelques jours à santorin puis aller à bodrum, il semble que passer par kos est obligatoire. Si arrêter pour la journée à kos est il jouable ex arrivée à kos le matin et repartir en fin d après midi pour bodrum.le tout en ferry bien sûr Me le conseillez vous ? Bonjour , je souhaite aller et séjourner à Skiathos/Skópelos/Alonissos (Sporades) avec un c.car de 6m : - les ferries pour y aller prennent-ils ce type de vh , ont-ils une taille suffisante ? - sur place : état des routes (largeur) stationnement , circulation avec un tel vh ? en un mot bonne ou mauvaise idée ? Plan B : où laisser le c.car sur le continent si on n'y va pas avec ?

Voilà . Je part en Angleterre avec ma voiture , avec un ami , or je n'ai pas de carte grise mais seulement un certificat de cession de véhicule valable 1 mois et uniquement en France. Mais je me demandais : est ce que les douanes ou la sécurité sur les ferry demandent les carte grise pour l'Angleterre ? Et si oui vont t'ils m'ennuyer et m'empêcher de partir en vacances ?

Avec un ami nous avons comme projet de faire un voyage en camion, France - Sri Lanka. Pour ça nous devions passer par l’Iran pour ensuite prendre un ferry au sud de l’Iran jusqu’à Oman, afin de se rendre en Inde. Seulement, aujourd'hui il est vivement déconseillé de passer par l’Iran...

Ma question est : Existe t-il encore des ferry pour la liaison Turquie - Égypte ?
