* 100 euros pour 10 nuits d hotel, soit 10 euros / jour (douche, tele avec chaines du cable...) * Entre 5 et 8 euros pour un repas complet dans un bon petit restaurant : entree, plat de resistance, dessert, une boisson. * Entre 1 et 3 euros les entrees en boite de nuit. * 2 euros pour 1h de kayak

Par contre, en ce qui concerne les vetements de marque (adidas, nike, lacoste...), les biens high tech (appareils photos, ordis...) voitures... les prix sont similaires aux notres. C est un beau pays : nombreuses forets et lacs (region de mazury) Bref, le cadre ideal pour mediter et se revivifier. C est pauvre, tres pauvre : Quand un francais gagne 2000 euros, un polonais n en gagne que 450 environ ! Le salaire horaire minimum se situe autour de 1 euro ! (4 zls) Rendez vous compte, un salarie polonais de chez mcdonald s doit travailler 100h pour se payer la derniere paire de nike, contre seulement 18h pour un employe francais ! Presque tous les polonais boivent de l alcool...

Concernant mon itineraire, je suis successivement passe par Auschwitz, Cracovie, Kielce, Varsovie et actuellement je suis pose non loin de la region de mazury...

Avant de me lancer ds quoi que se soit, j'aimerais connaitre les differents visas possibles, et comment les obtenir? Visas etudiants, de travail et permanent? (Je n'ai d'ailleurs trouve aucun renseignement quand a comment obtenir un visa permanent... Si qqun pouvait eclairer ma lanterne).

Et autre chose, est-il facile de s'inscrire en universite la bas? Le systeme ressemble t-il a celui americain? C'est a dire faire plusieurs demandes et etre acceptes ou non? Ou existe t-il des universites type francaise ou l'on paye juste l'inscpription et basta? Sachant que je n'ai pas de baccalaureat francais, mais un high school diploma americain.

Je sais que le Sud Ouest est deconseillé pour cette période, mais il y a des endroits parait-il magnifiques!!

De plus, doit-on tout négocier (restos+hébérgements) ?

Ou faire de bonne affaire pour les vêtements (non factices), le materiel informatique et le High Tech?

Nous partons en Bolivie cet été (août) surtout dans l'Altiplano (salar Uyuni, Sud lipez, la Paz, Titicaca). J'aime faire de la photo sans pour autant être expert ni avoir du super matériel. J'ai un appareil argentique et j'aimerais faire des négatifs et non des diapos (bien que j'hésite encore un peu):

Quelle sensibilité et quelle pellicule me conseillez-vous ? Que pensez-vous de la Kodak 200 High definition ? Plutôt de la 100 ?

Je sais que pas mal de voyageurs font de la diapo (meilleur rendu des couleurs) mais je pense ne pas être le seul à faire des négatifs... Merci de me renseigner surtout si vous avez déjà vécu l'expérience.

"US to provide military equipment to Nepal

Visiting US Ambassador-at-large J Cofer Black has said Nepal is likely to get some military equipment from the US government.

Black who is also the head of the counter-terrorism body of the State Department, said during an interaction with journalists on Wednesday that the US is mulling to assist Nepal in its fight against Maoist insurgency. “The process to deliver some military hardware is in the pipeline, ” Black said.

He informed that the United States might also offer help in order to bolster the intelligence system of the Royal Nepalese Army.

Black was of the view that Maoist activities have gone up in recent times so have the human rights violations. Asked whether the Al-Qaeda (an international terrorist outfit) is rubbing shoulder with Maoists to unleash terror in the region, Black said he had no information regarding this. “We do not have any report on that, ” he clarified. He however said the Maoists have good rapport with extremist communist outfits in the South Asian region.

He made it known that he has held discussions with heads of security bodies and other high-ranking government officials on a variety of issues, including the Maoist problem.

We’re back from our September 2025 road trip, this time to explore Arizona and New Mexico, and it’s time for me to start my travel journal—especially since everything’s already booked for another trip in September 2026 (to California), and I need to get started on the planning.

I was a little worried this new visit to Uncle Sam’s country might not be as "wow" as the others, but we still discovered some incredible places.

For those who don’t know us, we’re a couple in our seventies who speak very little English, but that didn’t stop us from fully enjoying our stay.

For this 6th road trip in the U.S., we spent 21 nights there, drove 4,160 km by car, and walked nearly 160 km in a loop starting from Phoenix.

We’d been to Arizona before (but not this side) and never to New Mexico. This whole road trip was a huge discovery for us.

In the prices mentioned (some in euros, others in dollars), bank fees and exchange charges are included. The flights, car rental, and parking were all paid for in December 2024 when we booked.

We’d downloaded the MPC (Mobile Passport Control) app, but there wasn’t a dedicated line at Phoenix Airport. Still, we got through quickly with friendly, smiling agents.

I don’t drive at all (I hate it), so the stops were chosen based on activities but also, for some, to limit daily mileage for the sole driver. The kilometers listed in the itinerary are the daily distances.

We traveled from September 9th to 22nd, unfortunately once again without our dear friends Mimi and Maumau.

Hertz offers a free Hertz Gold Plus Rewards program, which gives you priority counter service when picking up the car. 📊 **Accommodation**: 2,400 € We stayed in hotels and motels of varying standards (from 60 to 203 € per night, depending on the city), all booked through Booking.com or Hotels.com. Out of 21 nights, only two didn’t include breakfast in the price. Hi everyone, For our leg from Taos to Albuquerque, we have two options with roughly the same mileage and driving time: Either the light blue route (NM 518 then NM 76) or the dark blue route (NM 68), which would let us visit the Embudo Gas Museum. We’d love to stop at the Chimayó Sanctuary if it’s worth the small detour. We’ll have already taken NM 518 from Las Vegas to Taos. Which route is prettier and has the most points of interest? I'm trying to plan a little Greek getaway in early summer, and it's a tad complicated—connections from Sitia to Rhodes via Karpathos are only twice a week (and not on the days that work for me!). I gave up on the idea of Kastelorizo, which isn’t that easy to reach either, and replaced it with Symi, which has a daily connection—even several—to Rhodes, where I’d like to spend as little time as possible. I found a boat leaving Symi at 8:15 AM and arriving in Rhodes at 9:35 AM. The ferry to Karpathos leaves the same day at 11:00 AM. That’s 1 hour and 25 minutes to switch boats. It’s tempting because it’s a perfect sequence, but I’m wondering if it’s still a bit too tight.

Do Sebeco Lines’ speedboats arrive at the same port where Blue Star ferries depart? Are they punctual?

I’d love to know if it’s really worth prioritizing the procession on the final night—is it that different? What do the other nights miss out on? From what I’ve gathered, you can watch for free if you’re okay with sitting on the ground, which isn’t an issue for us. In that case, is it still easy to get a good view? We’ll be coming from Jaffna—are train tickets to Kandy harder to get during the Perahera? Also, August 8th is a public holiday. Do trains still run on public holidays?

Hi everyone, I’ve traveled to New York quite a bit, but not in about 10 years. All my colleagues who’ve been recently tell me that the cost of living has become outrageous. What’s the situation really like? For hotels, I checked the usual sites, and it does seem a bit expensive but not unaffordable—if you avoid the various "peak" periods (and there are a lot of them...). Anyway, the prices seem roughly on par with Paris, at least for accommodation in Manhattan. But what I’ve heard is that restaurants are almost unaffordable for "regular" budgets. By unaffordable, I mean around $50 per person (as soon as you want a drink with your meal). Thanks to any forum members who’ve been recently for shedding some light on this. Long live VoyageForum.

Starting from Kokhetanti, we'd like to do a day loop to Sekong Lake, then head to Naurikot and return (possibly by road). We’ve found—well, *found* might be a strong word—a path to the lake, but we can’t see any route continuing to Naurikot. Can anyone help us out? Thanks so much! !

First off, I just want to say how happy I am that the forum’s back up. It really means a lot. When it went down, I realized how much time I spent here and how much I valued this space for sharing. :) Hopefully, it’ll regain its momentum.

Anyway, I’m starting a thread. I’d like to get a saddle bag. I’m working on making my touring bike more versatile. It’s currently set up with racks for panniers, but for shorter rides, I’d like to remove the racks and switch to "bike-packing" mode. I’ll also be using a lighter set of wheels.

Long story short, I’d love to hear about your experiences with saddle bags you’ve used. This way, I can make an informed choice before buying.
